Terrible experience, staff is not accommodating. Every restaurant requires reservations. Continues to push use of an app, didn’t come on vacation to be on my phone all the time. Constantly tries to sell you things while you’re at the pool and walking around the resort.

My stay
This hotel is fantastic. The good choices are plenteous. The staff are so friendly. I am a man who enjoys to keep my fitness routine consistent and the gym here at Royalton was well and truly accommodating for just that. The gym was spacious and well equipped, it really is levels above the standard hotel gym. The fitness team are also a great asset to the hotel, Gorge(who I must say resembles “the rock”) Edgar and Luis are the guys I mainly see there and they are great, helpful and enthusiastic when it comes to fitness, even offering me access to wraps when endeavouring to do a heavy deadlift. The aforementioned fitness team also hosted a 500m race in the sand with a few obstacles and pavement also, this had a great turnout & as a 3rd place winner I was able to win a prize to coco bongo 🙌🏾. The race also had Gorge leading the warmup and Edgar leading the meditation session. These events are fantastic and a wonderful way to engage hotel guests. I’d be remiss not to mention Sergio in the teens club , as he is doing a fantastic job in there & that place is definitely a gem. A great way to wind down by playing some pool or foosball or table tennis. Addy from the spa team is always smiling , which is great to see. Vicente also helped us with all our enquiries pertaining to our stay as hideaway guests.

Horrible Family Vacation
This is my second time at Royalton. I first came in 2021 and had a positive experience so I decided to come back for a family vacation. Well…it was a family vacation from hell. Where do I even start? There were cockroaches in the pool….how disgusting is that?! On the fourth day, my 2 year old contracted hand, foot, mouth which I later learned that this resort has had outbreaks and issues containing the virus and do not have proper sanitation. You can google HFM and Royalton to read all about it. We paid extra for the Diamond Club and weren’t even able to get higher tier alcohol from the lobby and show bars in the evening. The workers were trying to make money off of us by telling us it would be an extra $5 even though we were told it was included in our Diamond Club package. When we brought this up to Diamond Club…they told us to get the names of the bartenders as they would in the wrong but it continued to happen over and over. They are definitely short staffed…there were 2 bartenders for 40 + people so it would take over 30 minutes to get a drink and there were hardly staff walking around during the day and night to take drink orders. The elevator was constantly broken which made it difficult for my family as we had a stroller. The buffet restaurant smelled like a bathroom…we would walk in and immediately lose our appetite because who wants to eat in that smell? I came back for a second time because my experience in 2021 was good so I’m not sure what happened to this hotel for it to became absolute garbage. It’s so disappointing that we waited over 1 year for this family vacation and were very excited only to experience what we did. I would strongly advise against coming here unless major changes occur. Marriott has a lot of work on their hands as this hotel is reminiscent of a motel.
