The Fairmont Kea Lani is truly a one-of-a-kind experience
The Fairmont Kea Lani is truly a one-of-a-kind experience. My family has been coming to the Fairmont for over 15 years. The location is great, convenient to the shops of Wailea and an easy drive to everything else on the island. The property is gorgeous and superbly maintained, we were amazed by all the meticulously maintained fauna. We stayed in an ocean front villa, and couldn't imagine a better retreat on Maui. The villas are beautiful, large, and literally steps from the Fairmont's private beach. But what makes the Fairmont truly special are the little attentions to detail that, if your looking for them, can be found everywhere. The staff? Wow. Everyone is so happy all the time, and completely invested in making your stay great and memorable. They certainly left a lasting impression on my family. Everyone we interacted with - the front desk team, the concierges, the waiters in the (5-star) restaurants, the spa, the pool attendants, the beach attendants, the valets and bellman - were truly remarkable. They all got the assignment on hospitality, and boy do they set the bar very, very, very high! It was a pleasure to meet and talk with every single one of them. I want to specifically call out Nicola, the front desk manager. He helped us with a challenge we had, and made it effortless - and always with warmth and kindness. The Fairmont is so much more than a hotel - it is an existential experience you will remember and cherish for a lifetime.

Not a 5 Star Experience.
My husband and I spent the first half of our 10-day Maui trip at the Fairmont. We were on the island for my 40th birthday and this was a special milestone celebration for us. Overall, I would not return here. The hotel is definitely not a 5-star experience and does not live up to the Fairmont branding. Would skip this and go to the Four Seasons, Andaz or Hotel Wailea. Pros: - Beautiful lobby and wonderful renovations -amazing valet team. Special shout out to Robert! -great location on the beach -Easy to secure beach chairs and umbrellas even during peak hours -spacious rooms and balconies Cons: -my husband ordered 2 cakes to arrive as surprises for my birthday. They never showed up. We were given a room credit as compensation but it wasn't reflected on our bill at checkout. Required a bit of back and forth to resolve at check out -check your bill very carefully. They tried to charge for valet, although it was included with our package. This again required some back and forth to resolve at check out -there was a gnat infestation in our room. Gnats all over the balcony door, in the living area, bathroom etc. They sprayed but the gnats persisted and eventually infiltrated the room fridge. So gross. They gave us cookies to apologize for the inconvenience -the rooms were recently refreshed but the age of the hotel still shows on the dated and rusted balcony doors -the bathroom was poorly cleaned. Long blonde hairs from prior guests in the tub and shower everything here has a silly up charge. It feels like you're being nickle and dimed. For example, they charge $10 to deliver DoorDash orders to your room -the food is mediocre and overpriced -the spa services are nice but the spa doesn't have the extras I'm accustomed to at this price point. All you get is a small steam room, warming bench and 3 rain showers. They should adjust the price for their services accordingly. That said, Jen gave me an amazing facial and would recommend visiting her, and the staff at the spa was lovely -impossible to get chairs by the pool as others have said and then even harder to get a server to help you. The pool staff was rude and uninviting. Because of this, we only visited the pool once -impossible to get service at the bars. Stood around for 10 minutes while a bartender chopped limes and ignored me. Bar wasn't busy. At. All. -there was a big conference while we were there, so dozens of folks milling about with name tags Bottom line: they just don't get it on service at a 5-star resort. Have stayed at other Fairmont resorts and never experienced this before. Was completely baffling to us.

Very disappointed by how the hotel handled key and room entry issues we were locked out of the room multiple times
The pros: the resort is beautiful, the breakfast buffet is great and the staff at the restaurants is very pleasant. What really ruined our experience and the stay is that this is the second day now in a row where we’re unable to enter our room when we need to. We have various tours and dinners booked and are on a tight schedule and yesterday we waited for over 30min to get into our bedroom after coming from the pool. Our key didn’t work and we went down to the front desk where they said the yellow light on the door means that the battery needs replacement or a reset and that they’ll send security to fix it and that it will be done in 15min. Over 20min later we went to the room to try again, had no luck so we went down again and after talking to security for a while they just gave us new keys. These keys finally worked but we entered the room 20min before our dinner reservation.. after dinner our keys didn’t work again and we had to go down to the front desk for the third time that day and they again gave us another new set of keys, while still claiming that keys are “fine”. Next day after coming back from our morning tour, once again our keys didn’t work. We went to complain again and they sent a security guy immediately this time because they sensed how upset we were. They said on the phone to security go immediately so we don’t have to wait over 30min like we did yesterday. We met a security person at the door, he was replacing a battery today claiming today it’s the battery but yesterday we were having bad keys even though the front desk was telling us the opposite yesterday.. all in all quite frustrating for a 5 star resort and really negatively impacts the experience. I hope we don’t run into any more issues in the next couple of days.

Great for Resort Pass!
We had a late flight out of Maui and head to check out of our AirBnb, so decided to buy a resort pass for this hotel. It was a wonderful experience! The staff was so friendly, and we loved that we didn't have to pay additional fees for beach chairs and umbrellas. Ordered the burger for lunch and it was delicious. We would love to come back!
