Curacao is a wonderful island with beautiful beaches and fun snorkeling on the west side with easy in and out ocean access. Dreams resort main tower was very lacking with dirty walls, vents and ceilings, sagging bed with lots of noise from the springs, swollen bathroom door that wouldn’t close, hard water staining on glass and where water leaks outside of shower surround, refurbished sink countertop with splattered paint, rotted baseboards and door trim. Go to Curacao but I’d avoid this resort until after it’s updated. They have some pod units that I believe are nice but didn’t see interior.

Definitely skip and stay in downtown area instead
This all-inclusive hotel was the worst I’ve stayed at, despite having visited over 100 countries. The room was dated, the AC barely worked, and the TV never functioned. The hotel’s cleanliness was questionable, with plates left in the hallways at midnight and our own not picked up when we left them out at 2 p.m. we even killed a roach that was crawling out from another plate. We barely ate at the hotel as the restaurants in downtown were much better. Despite having all-inclusive in our room rate, we opted for dinner in various downtown restaurants (Kome, Bistro 91, BKLYN) during our 3-night stay. The room service breakfast looked sad and disappointing, so it’s best to have breakfast at the buffet. We picked this hotel to stay in the same complex with friends who received a voucher to return to Il Mare after their reservation was messed up last year. Il Mare had serene pods and a beautiful view, but my friends didn’t receive breakfast room service for two out of three stays. The 24-hour room service menu doesn’t exist, and the wait time for simple items like juice and ice cream could be up to an hour. For the steep price, you will totally regret it. If you’re considering this hotel, save your money and stay downtown to enjoy Curaçao’s true culinary beauty.

Bad dreams!
We stayed at the Dreams Resort from October 24th to October 31st. It’s a beautiful, well-maintained, and very clean property. The beach was spectacular, and the buffet food was excellent with plenty of variety. However, I can only give it three stars because during our stay, the temperatures ranged from 42°C to 44°C, and the air conditioning throughout the resort was not functioning. The rooms were extremely hot and uncomfortable, and the bathrooms had no ventilation, making it unbearable. They gave us a fan but it didn’t help much. We had to keep the lights off in the evenings and leave the balcony doors open just to get some air, but even that didn’t help much. We paid a lot of money to stay here, and a resort of this caliber should have reliable air conditioning. For this reason alone, we will not be returning to Dreams in December.

Our stay at Il Mare and Dreams Curaçao was exceptional — the service and standards set by the team were phenomenal from start to finish. Il Mare Team: Our footmen, Rendy and Gio, were the best service professionals we’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting. Rendy was attentive, personable, and always ready with great recommendations. Gio brought such energy and warmth — he genuinely cared about building relationships with guests, handled every request with urgency and grace, and even stepped in to fix a reservation mix-up on the spot. Experiences like that are why guests like us will absolutely return. Botellino Restaurant: Victor – Charming, friendly, and someone who truly brightened our visits. Coca – A complete star. Professional, fun, and unforgettable. Zahir – Honestly, one of the hardest-working individuals we’ve ever met. He seemed to be everywhere at once — helpful, attentive, and full of positive energy. We joked he must have a twin! Dreams Team: Jessica – A joy to meet! She made fantastic restaurant and local recommendations, always greeted us with a smile, remembered who we were, and even convinced us to visit Mambo Beach — easily the best day of our trip. Dreams Spa: A huge thank-you to Nichola, Elsa, and Veronica. Our massages were both relaxing and therapeutic; we left feeling rejuvenated and went back a second time because it was that good. Overall: We had a wonderful, memorable week and can’t wait to return. Every staff member we interacted with embodied hospitality at its best. Thank you again, Il Mare and Dreams team, for an incredible stay. We’ll definitely be back!
