Funny the intro example to the review mentions the pillows are “the fluffiest I’ve ever felt”— truly Matachica’s pillows were amazing. I was even going to call them and ask the brand! (Still might!) Now down to the other specifics that make this such an awesome vacation destination. First starting from the initial booking experience, the reservation staff were incredibly helpful. They answered all my questions as inane as they were — everything from getting there to how long it takes to get out of customs. And of course the airport and water taxi pick ups were flawless and transit to the resort via Matachica’s boat were wonderful with all luggage handled and a beverage waiting for us as soon as we arrived! On your way to the Reception area, you pass through the Mambo Restaurant and Cafe Bistro — both fabulous places with a wide variety of options to eat every day. The casitas were so cool — thatched A-Frame ceilings/roofs, modern decoration with tropical flare! And everyone from Housekeeping (I specifically loved Lezett’s sweet notes & drawings) to the Morning Breakfast Crew as I liked to call them who served me right up until 10 am, treated me like royalty every day. A special thanks to the front desk staff, as well as Josue & Andre. I cannot thank everyone at Matachica enough for taking such good care of me — paying attention to every tiny detail. Matachica is a great place for honeymooners, couples celebrating milestone anniversaries, big birthdays, and other special events with loved ones. And if you do find yourself there mostly solo, don’t feel guilty spending so much time resting—on those fluffy pillows! ☺️ Location: remote Rooms: private, beautiful Atmosphere: very friendly, laid back but extremely professional Service: excellent, extremely attentive Cleanliness: spotless Amenities: pool, hot tub, spa service, fine dining, shuttles to nearby attractions (e.g. Secret Beach, Caye Caulker, San Pedro), kayaking, paddle boarding

Wonderful diving trip
I went with my dad this past week to Matachica and had a truly spectacular experience. The staff was super friendly and did everything they could to make our experience as nice as possible. Our room was always being cleaned and the beds are very comfortable. In particular, Julio from the breakfast staff went out of his way to make the trip better. As well as Lance, Archie, and Kiden. Overall, I highly recommend staying here.

Great Place to Unplug, Unwind and Relax! Felt like a Honeymoon Suite. My husband and I visited for my 50th Birthday. The rooms are lovely, very nice and clean. Calm and relaxing environment, no tv's or telephones in the rooms. The staff was nice and friendly. Our room was right on the beach, however due to the over growth of seaweed that they are experiencing right now in that region, we didn't utilize the beach near our room. We spent an Awesome day at Secret beach not to far away. The location is secluded, but about a 20 minute golf cart ride into the city. We drove back ad forth easily and there was a lot of restaurants and shopping along the way. Our housekeeper left us little local treats, such a cookies, and brownies in our room each day along with a recipe card.

Unforgettable honey moo
The place is simply amazing. My wife literally felt in love with the bed. The staff were awesome, very polite and helped up with anything we needes. Amazing food and drinks. Many fun activities. Very well recomended, specially outside sargassum season.

Complete bliss!!
The hospitality, friendliness, food, view, relaxed atmosphere, and accommodations are outstanding!! One of the best resorts we've ever stayed at! The only drawback was the seaweed that is continuously washing up on the beach. The staff goes to great pains every morning and works most of the day trying to move it. This is along the entire length of the island. I understand that this is temporary and will dissipate soon.
