    Waikīkī is the Best

    The Sheraton is at the best possible location in Hawaii. We enjoyed not having to cross the street to go to the beach and yet being virtually attached to a shopping center. Although the rooms are not luxurious, the renovations made our stay quite comfortable and our housekeeper, Roger, was wonderful! He was as good as any in the most luxurious resorts.

    Mostly good, but the bad is probably a dealbreaker.

    There was good and bad about this experience. The good was that we were upgraded to excellent rooms both before and after our cruise. We stayed 3 nights prior and 1 night after. Each time I used Suite Night Awards to get upgraded and the upgrades were definitely worth it (which is not very typical at Marriott properties). The hotel was clean, quiet, in a good location, and a relatively good value since I booked using MR points. The service was good everywhere we went with one primary exception. We have kids and the infinity pool area, which is close to the bar and restaurant, is adults only. The kids friendly pool is on the other side of the hotel and is not at all convenient to the food and drinks that are available at the adult only pool. The kids pool should have a bar and grill within sight of the pool. Our initial stay (Weds-Sat) there did not appear to be anyone taking orders from folks in the pool or in lounge chairs so whenever we needed something, we had to go to Lawson's Station inside or to the Edge Bar which was not very easy to get to. Our second stay (Saturday-Sun) there was a waitress taking orders but she never made it over to us because she was the only one covering the entire pool area. It was really frustrating having to get out of the pool and go get stuff - folks that have kids know how this goes. All day long you just act as a gopher for food and drink. If this was purely an adults vacation, this would have been fine. But as a family vacation, I found it irritating that we weren't catered to more in the pool area. I also think that the lack of any kind of shade in the pool area is bad for families with kids. There are no umbrellas or sun shades at all. There are maybe 4 lounge chairs that get shaded by a tree for a couple of hours during the day but good luck getting those if you don't' get out there by 7:30am. It was a pretty good experience overall but with the inconvenience of food and drink at the pool I'd probably consider elsewhere next time if the kids are with us.

    Magnificent view and location—average on everything else

    We had a magnificent view and the location of this property was superb! The bed was fine. The shower had little pressure and no hot water. Asked for more coffee in the room and it took all day to get. Absolutely packed with people. Felt like a 3 star experience except for the view and location. Disappointed at a $600/night price.
