Our stay at the Westin for our honeymoon was excellent. The location was great, we could walk to the marina for dinner or take a short cab ride downtown if we wanted. However the hotel took care of most of our needs, with beach access, a beautiful pool and very attentive staff. We didn't have much incentive to leave except for some sight seeing and excursions.

Very nice hotel but a little worn out. Internet was bad. And there was no entertainment at night at the hotel.

The only complaints I have is that we had to call for clean towels and bath mat almost daily, the room was usually not made up until around 5PM daily, and the room attendents do not seem to know how to make a bed. The sheets were short changed and the bed had to be remade daily. Otherwise this is an excellent hotel, and we plan to stay there again the next time we are in Puerto Vallarta.

Its a really good hotel to stay. The pool is awesome and is just front of the beach but sadly the beach in this area isn't the best. You can find the buffet in ter morning with plenty options and also activities in the pool area. They have gym and coffee shops inside. One disadvantages I see is that there is only one bus that can take you inside of Marina the zona where the hotel is located. So you must consider take a uber/taxi if you dont want to wait 20min or is you want to arrive late.

Awesome time, staff played a tremendous roll in making us feel welcome and stress free

We spent 7 nights in Puerto Vallarta, MX between two SPG properties, majority of it being at the Westin. This review covers an in depth review of the Resort and Platinum benefits at Westin Resort and Spa Tl:Dr: Pretty good property, very close to 4 stars. They do their best and customer service was excellent throughout our stay. Decent platinum amenities and great location to marina. Our first night and last 5 days were at the Westin. The property was not busy and we were fortunate to have excellent weather in the middle of the rainy season. Prior to checking in I had replied to Dany, the Guest Services Manager welcome email to maximize our time and comfort. He was quick o follow up and connected us with Esmeralda for any tours we had in mind. We did the Estigo ATV Sierra Madre 3hr tour. Very fun. The representative who checked us in recognized Platinum status and ensure our stay was memorable. He was incredibly thorough and kindly upgraded our room to a jr. suite ocean view which was refreshing to hear after finding out the hotel/SPG cancelled my nights and flights reservation the day before flying to PVR. Returning on the following day, Dany welcomed us back which was nice and upgraded to the 1bd suite. Welcome amenity: 500 Points or a T-Shirt. The Royal Beach Club lounge is closed now for renovations. Lounge benefits are available in the side room of the ground floor restaurant, El Palmar. Seating arrangements are inside or outside and semi separated from other guests inside. Wasn't a problem but something to keep in mind if you are looking for that exclusive only perk. The continental breakfast is vast from 7-11am: cold cuts and variety of cheeses, juice, cereal, oatmeal bar, yogurts, and fruits. No hot plates (buffet only) but 3 cold style salads. I was hoping one of the platinum amenities would be to upgrade the breakfast to the buffet but you must pay $10 USD plus tax. Our longer stay had an interesting scenario. I believe there was a very limited number of platinum guests or guests in general so they did not offer continental or buffet breakfast for a few mornings. I asked about the platinum breakfast and we were welcomed to order from the menu but it was difficult to confirm if it would be an additional charge. Small quirk and mostly miscommunication. The enchiladas, omelet, fruit plate are excellent dishes. The lounge stays open from 11am-5pm for snacks, fruits, tea and coffee. We used it once and found it confusing. The staff were not sure if we could sit inside, outside or access it all. The lounge/restaurant opens from 5-8pm offering hors d'oeuvre and the worst selection I've seen. Not a single hot plate. Extremely disappointed considering they could provide something from the restaurant. House wine/liquor, drinks, some snacks: chips and salsa, mini-cubed cold sandwiches with sliced meats or vegetables left us desiring more so we skipped a few nights and went straight to the marina. We considered dinner at Arrecife due to reviews and blogs but it looked completely abandoned. Our experience at breakfast was great so we tried dinner at El Palmar. Not as good as breakfast. 10% off food and beverages. Dinner menu was kind of expensive for quality. Desert was tasty and our server was helpful. Our interactions with the staff was super; always friendly, helpful and tentative. They didn't over attend which was nice. I read a review about wild cats at the restaurant, yes we met the one cat and asked our server about it. The cat was cleaner than some of the patrons at the hotel. She was not bothersome at all and we would have happily taken her home but AgFed would not appreciated that so we fattened her up with food from the continental breakfast. If you see her, she likes the sliced meats :). You'll be fine, enjoy the view, food and weather. Both rooms were very enjoyable, spacious and clean. Water pressure was good between the bathtub and stand up shower. The jacuzzi worked in both but they seemed old. The Wi-Fi on the 10th and 11th floor worked well for our 3 devices but we never required high bandwidth. The rooms while nicely decorated and welcoming seemed a bit dated or maybe the electrical wasn't updated with the rooms. Old outlets and very few easily accessible (2) in odd areas of the room, not at the nightstands. We participated in the Go Green option for either $5 voucher or 250 starpoints. I had to call each day to remind them about the voucher, minor annoyance. Location: Strategically close to the airport, 10-min stroll to the marina and a 15-20min cab/uber to the Sheraton property. It's 3.3 Km to the indoor galleria and 4.4 km to the outdoor galleria, both were ok. Somewhere in between is a grocery store and a Walmart. There is an Oxxo across the street of the hotel to stock up on snacks or alcohol. Overall found better tequila/liquor deals at the marina liquor store. The fitness studio is one of the best I've been to at a hotel resort. Large open space full of LifeFitness weight machines. Lower platform is split between a full studio which looks like for classes (not offered) and cardio machines. The wall of treadmills was great, first time using the courses on an advanced LifeFitness treadmill. They had virtual courses you could run from several desirable locations with short information clips about the area. The Germany trail was my favorite. Each course offers 6 segments for a total run time of 30-35mins. We found the gym premises and equipment very clean. The spa offers specials but you cannot stack a 10% discount like a few SPG properties we have been too. That was disappointing. Other reviews noted how nice the spa was and we toured the area. Very nice spa area. The spa handles the reservations for the tennis courts. Reserving the court is per hour, free for platinum’s otherwise MXN 250 plus MXN 100 for equipment (rackets and balls). Poolside was an excellent experience. They offer two pools, complimentary towels and sunscreen. There are signs notifying customers you cannot save pool chairs. If the property was sold out I'm not sure how they would enforce it or how they would offer more seating. Some beach area is also available. Landscaping and maintenance is constantly ongoing. It will be impossible to avoid all noises but quiet during our October visit. The pools are all ages and one has a swim up bar. The pool we used wasn't terribly deep, maybe 4-5Ft? Relaxing nonetheless. My wife and I can confirm we had a great time. We were looking for pure relaxation, stress free environment and the Westin provided that in a desirable location. Ratings are subjective. I imagine our own would fluctuate with season and how many people are occupying. I'd be interested seeing future reviews when they reopen their Royal Beach Club. Platinum benefits: 85% / 3-3.5* Overall hotel experience: 88-90% / 3.8-4.0*

This is a long over due follow up to my review back in Feb 2017. Booked this hotel after reading great reviews. Sadly those reviews did not live up to their claims. The hotel itself is average and needs to be updated. Lady at the front desk would not give my husband and I a King bed. Gave us a room with two full beds after repeatedly asking for a King. She adamantly refused to give us a King and told us she would call house keeping to push the two beds together. Really?? Housekeeping never did that. Paid for an ocean view room. Was given a room on the 6th floor. View was more like a partial ocean view and more of a palm tree view. The upgrade was a waste of money. The room has a mini fridge with a lock on it. You can't use it!!!! The bathroom set up is very weird. There are shutters next to the bathtub that don't close too well. If staying as a couple you should be good... staying with a friend- might not have much bathroom privacy..... on to the outside. Getting a pool chair is a challenge. Pool area gets very crowded and most of the time we ended up having to sit in the children's pool. The mixed drinks are extremely watered down. Not worth it. Two thumbs down. Stick with beer or better yet walk across to the Oxxo to buy your own alcohol. The beach area is small. Get ready to be bombarded by vendors. Not very relaxing, and again good luck getting a lounge chair. The food was just okay. Not impressed at all. The only plus to this hotel were the people at the towel counter and the employees outside to greet you. They were the only people that were extremely friendly and made you feel welcomed. The location is good as it's in walking distance to the marina. Overall was very disappointed with this hotel and would not stay here again. I really don't understand where the good reviews comes from. There are a lot better hotels in Vallarta. Skip it and look elsewhere!

Lovely place. The people could not be nicer. However it is so sad that there is no one here to help support employees who work so hard and are paid mostly on tips. We do what we can but in September and October these young people barely survive.

We recommend this hotel. Our room was large and had a 2-person (with small rear-ends) comfortable chair. It also had a desk and a king bed. There was a mini fridg and a coffee maker. The bathroom was large and had a tub as well as a shower. Unfortunately, the lighting in the bathroom was not strong enough. We had a balcony and the storage in the room was good. The pool and beach area were huge and the ocean was inviting—too bad that September is the rainiest month in Puerto Vallarta. The resort fronts on the Bahia Banderas and we were upgraded to a full ocean view. Breakfast was not included in our rate and so we went to El Palmar downstairs some days, to restaurants on the street in front of the hotel and also next door to the Raintree Club. All were about the same price for the a la carte items we ordered. We have only one criticism: we hate paying for Internet. The charges for Internet at the Westin are high and annoying ($765 MXP for 3 days or about $12 US a day). But Dimitri had rented a device for this trip to Mexico and we were able to get our own Internet. We also learned that, as SPG Preferred Members who had booked directly on the spg.com website, we were entitled to the free in-room Internet. Our first day was rainy so we went to the gym. We wanted to shower in the spa but learned there was an extra charge. We spoke to Marta, the rooms manager, and the fee for the spa was waived for us during our stay. On a day when there was a little sun we sat by the pool and the music was too loud. Marta had the music turned off entirely when we mentioned that we didn’t like it. We wanted the Jacuzzi to be as warm as it could get and Marta made that happen too (she said that 38˚ C was the max). Wow, we were very impressed with her customer service and guest relations. We like that the sheets are ironed and that there are real glasses and cups to use in the room. The air conditioner worked well—it maintained a constant temperature (which we find to be unusual in hotels). While the hotel is 25 years old and looks it, the maintenance is good. It does need a total remodel, however. We liked our stay and how friendly, helpful and welcoming the staff was.
