Excellent Stay - Even Better Adventures

We were on a honeymoon reunion with two other couples and stayed at the Royal Beach Club. We had such an amazing experience from the more private accommodations of the adult only pool/bar to the excellent restaurants that were all a part of the all inclusive package. The rooms were excellent and we always had a concierge 24-7. We were there for a week and ate at a new place every night and we were very happy with the food choices and quality. The shuttles are great at the resort to get you from place to place, and Johnathan makes a killer watermelon drink at the bar next to the nightly shows. We loved the Bar Imperial later at night after the shows get over. Our last night there was a Michael Jackson Tribute that was pretty great. The beach is great and the beach massages are not half bad, for $20. We read about Erik Garcia on Trip Advisor before we left, so we knew he was the guy to see if you needed anything. He is at the beach entrance mostly every day and he will set you up with just about any adventure you can think of and doesn’t disappoint. We did a tour one day with Gustavo to see the sloths, visit the waterfall and finished with a mud bath and the hot springs and it was amazing. He also set us up with horse back riding one day and a surf lesson at Playa Grande beach the next which for a first time surfer was great. The last thing we asked him for was airport transportation and he set us up for a ride for the 6 of us to get back to the airport for about a quarter of the price we all paid to get to the resort in the first place. We had a wish list of adventures and a certain price we were willing to pay on excursions and Erik put together everything we wanted plus more.

Best Resort Hotel!

We had an amazing time at the Westin! Resort is beautiful, there are iguanas all over the grounds making it feel very much like the rainforest! Howler monkeys room the resort as well! Rooms are large and very well maintained and cleaned. Food was fantastic at all restaurants! Highly recommend staying at the Royal Beach Club section! Staff are all very friendly and will do anything to make your stay the best it can be. Erik Garcia, a local guide on the beach, was a huge help with finding us transportation and excursions, very trustworthy! He is wearing a hat and shirt with his name on it. We got everything we asked for and more, from the hot springs to waterfall hiking, horseback riding, to seeing sloths up close, and finally surfing at playa Grande. Highly recommend working with him on all trips!

Great for families! Great tours with Erik Garcia!

I must start by saying this was one of the most amazing vacations I have ever experienced. We were at the Westin for 13 nights and I can't wait to return. Lodging- The Westin is unmatchable. The staff is superb and genuine. They work hard to make sure you have the best experience possible. Remember to get names of the ones who really impress you and fill out the card you get at check in. The rooms have A/C, which is was really all I could have asked for. They were good size for our family of four. A dresser would have been nice, but we made due with the shelves. The grounds are pretty amazing. You can see coatis, monkeys, iguanas, squirrels, etc. Things are spread out, but once you get the layout down, it is a quick walk anywhere. It feels longer in 90 degrees, but I'm not complaining one bit. The pool is always warm and refreshing. Having my 8 year tell me "I'm swimming to the bar!" felt weird yet funny. Food- Phenomenal. Even the buffet was outstanding. The restaurants were a nice excuse to dress up and sit in A/C, but we often found ourselves at the buffet for some scoops of handmade ice cream (vanilla and chocolate are amazing and the passion fruit sorbet is to die for). Dinner reservations are only at 4 times, 6, 6:30, 8, and 8:30. There are shows every night in the buffet area at 8:30, so keep that in mind when choosing times. The shows are kid friendly. Beach- The water is so warm that I could swim all day. There are people selling things, but if you say no thank you they leave you alone. Snorkeling on the far right side near the rocks is awesome during high tide. If you go all the way left, keep in mind that there is a swamp on one side with a crocodile warning sign. Tours- We booked all of our tours through Erik Garcia. Everyone he uses are great people who know the area and have local connections. Also, using Emir and his crew directly boosts the local economy and takes the corporations out as the middle man. Being with them also gives you a higher level of credibility as a tourist. We had a great time with Gustavo during our Mega Combo tour (which was one of the most amazing experiences of my life), and Pablo (who also has a surf school) during our Sloth tour (I have fallen in love with sloths). We also did jet skis with Dago (who is an ocean ninja) and horseback riding through the jungle and ATVs with David. Towards the end of the trip I spent some time talking with Erik. He has a genuine passion for wanting people to enjoy their time in his country. He is there 7 days a week, 10-12 hours a day to meet the needs of tourists while supporting the local workers. Now THAT is commitment. Culture- Everyone from the staff to the folks we met during the tours are very proud of their country. They are genuine and kind. They are informative about Costa Rican culture and history. Everything about the country felt authentic, which is the opposite of how Hawaii feels now days. I cannot adequately express how amazing our experience was at the Westin or how the people of Costa Rica and the country itself have captured my heart. Pure Vida

We couldn't be happier!

Our group stayed at the Westin at Playa Conchal and we kept talking about when we all wanted to come back! We could not speak more highly of this resort. The rooms, the food, the pool, the drinks, the service were all top notch! The only thing was there was not much to do after the sun went down. But this ended up forcing us to crawl into bed early (we were really tired by then anyway haha) and wake up early with the sun to utilize the daylight time. The beach is conveniently and amazingly close. The beach was gorgeous and the waves were so fun to swim in. Don't miss out on taking advantage of the boogie boards, snorkeling gear and kayaks that are included (YES!) in the all-inclusive resort fee. We were blown away by our experience and will be so excited to return (hopefully) soon! Note: if you are interested in day tours to Volcano, Rainforest, Tamarindo, etc....Andrei from ConchalFun will be on the beach. He was very approachable and transparent about what the tour offers. Amazing service and great prices to pair. It was for sure the best deal than others we had talked to. We took his shuttle/tour (private to our group of 8!) to Taramindo on Monday. Our tour guide Diego was super knowledgable and we felt very safe the whole time. In addition he was so good with the two kids in our group . We had an amazing experience on this tour and would look for Andrei again should we go back to Playa Conchal.
