Fun resort with a few quirks

Visited Viva Wyndham April 7-April 14th as part of an Air Canada Vacations East Coast Kitchen Party. Had a great time in the sunshine the weather was exceptional. As always there are pros and cons of staying at any resort. For me personally, I loved the small size of this resort which made it convenient to get around from the pool to the bar to the room in a timely manner. The maintenance and cleanliness deserve a mention from my experience. The animation team were also fantastic compare to other resorts. Very friendly and interactive with us during our stay. Special thanks to Carlos, Chocolate, Katherine, Jennifer, Samy and Santo. As far as food goes on this resort I found it rather poor, especially the buffets and room service. Some of the a la cartes were enjoyable, my personal favourite being Fusion (Marvin provided great service) In addition, the beach was lovely, clean green water with soft sand and no seaweed or rocks. Like all resorts there are cons, for me this resort had quite a few worth mentioning. The staff allowed guests to reserve chairs and bed by the pool and beach which made it near impossible to find a place to relax especially since most times no one returned to the seats all day. I also found the area around the pool to be extremely slippery as did man others. Daily housekeeping was subpar, they room was tidy and bed was made but the floors were consistently sticky and the towels were extremely rough. Overall, what made my experience was the east coast kitchen party we were a part of. The live entertainment was spectacular and so much fun to experience, especially in the Dominican. Thanks again Air Canada Vacations! I would unlikely return to this resort or refer it to others unless I was partaking in an event such as the ACVECKP!

Nice resort in Las Terrenas

Overall experience is very good. The room was not too big but it was clean. We didn't find much use in the plunge pool in the room. Hotel pool is great with hidden view of the sea. Staff is kind and always ready to assist in any issue and question we might have. On the downside - the food, although very varied we found that the food in the restaurants was not very tasty. Other than that, this is a great choice when arriving to Las Terrenas.

Nice resort, overpriced!

Samana is a favorite destination for us. We have stayed at the GBP el Portillo for the past 4 years(it has increased room numbers and is much busier now) so we wanted to try a different resort in the area. The staff are very friendly overall, from the front desk to maids, servers, bar staff and animation team. Rooms: Modern feel with lots of storage space for a small room, with only one chair. The bathroom was small with a nice walk-in glass shower. No issues with water pressure or temperature. Complimentary toiletries were fine. There were face clothes and hand towels available. The large bath towels were quite rough. Our 3rd floor balcony equipped with two lounge chairs and side table, had a view of the ocean. Grounds: Lush and green with flowers and lots of palms. , well maintained by grounds keepers. Pool: Small with lots of steps, whirlpools and a shallow platform. The tile around the pool was extremely slippery when wet. There was not much shade in the pool area. No swim up bar and bar service was hit and miss. Beach: The beach area was very nice with lots of loungers but very few cushions. The few Bali beds were reserved early. The slope from the beach to the water was tricky for some folks as there was a lot of broken shells and coral with a dip at the waters edge. The water was warm with a lovely sandy bottom where you could wade out a ways when the waves were calmer. Many days the waves were rolling quite high so folks had to be cautious. The waves were fun none the less! Beach towels were plentiful and could be traded easily. A la Cartes: You could go to as many as you liked if an opening was available. There was no pre booking. The Fusion restaurant was very good on our first visit but less appealing on our second visit, despite some of us ordering the same items. Service was very slow. We visited the Mediterranian once and it was very good. The marlin and the tiramisu was quite good. Santos was excellent during the day and evening here. Buffet: The buffet lacked variety and foods were often under/over cooked. Hot foods were often cold. There were a few excellent food items but very inconsistent. Service for coffee and drinks was hit and miss at the buffet at all times of the day. The animation team was very engaging. They were a talented group of performers, dancers and singers. Special mention of Luz, Mary, Giada, Jennifer, Chocolate, Carlos and Jordan. Bars: The lobby bar was air conditioned and was a nice spot to meet at dinner time. The beach bar was the hub of the resort as it served the beach, pool and restaurants at the beach and theatre area. Samy and the others were very busy and always cheerful. Although this was a great resort and we had an excellent vacation, there were enough negatives to deter us from returning.

Gorgeous, quiet resort

My wife and I had a great trip at this resort. It's not too big, not crowded, and very quiet. It's easy to find a couple favorite spots to spend your days. Probably the best part, though, was the staff. This was my third all-inclusive and I must say, the staff was incredibly engaged and fun. It just seemed like they enjoy working there. They were getting people involved and getting to know their guests. There were yoga classes with a trained yoga teacher, aquacise dance parties, salsa lessons on the beach, and probably a lot more that I didn't see. Definitely recommended if you're going to this region.

This was our first time at an adult only resort and it was awesome! We were at this resort during the week of April 7-14, 2018 as honeymooners The resort is beautiful, peaceful, and very clean. The beach is perfect, and you can walk in either direction just in your bare feet lots of waves and white sands for miles. The food is exceptional especially the Fusion restaurant which was by far our favorite of the 3 a la cartes and the buffet always had a good variety of foods to choose from and the desserts were very tasty. No dress code or reservations for the a la cartes were required which was nice, you don`t have to dress up if you don`t want too! The staff at this resort are amazing. They were friendly, accommodating, and very personable. Shot out to Giada, Samy, Santo, Willie and Erica (our cleaning lady) and the several others who names we cannot remember they all play a big part of what makes this resort so amazing. Samana and the Viva Wyndham have stolen our hearts, here is to seeing you next year! Cheers my friends!
