Apple Vacations Traveller Reviews
Just a really bad vacation.
TAMERA L.
Mar 01 2019
Shower was part of the bathroom so the floor was wet in front of toilet and sink all day. Poor drainage. Air conditioner did not work and no screen on the patio door. Entertainment was not good. Three out of the four of us were severely sick mostly the vacation, along with a large percentage of the rest of the resort.

Terrible Vacation
TAMERA L.
Feb 20 2019
Three out of four of us in my party became very ill and are still not healthy. I landed in the Emergency Room the night returned to the USA. It was either the water or the food, but it ruined our vacation. The beds were terrible, we had to ask for more towels and toilet paper. We were only allowed two bottles of water a day and on Thursday the gift shop ran out. We had to purchase $72 worth of prescriptions given to us by the urgent care doctor. Te rooms, bedding and bath amenities were not plush and rejuvenating as your description says. The food and entertainment was terrible. Gray water from the septic was pumped onto the lawns and made it smell like septic everywhere. Our Apple Rep disappeared after two days and did not leave information on how to contact him.

THE HOTEL IS MORE OF A MOTEL. THE HOTEL IS OUTDATED AND IN NEED OF A REFRESH. THE STAFF WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE FRONT DESK AND MAIDS ARE UNHELPFUL AND LOOK AS IF THEY ARE UNHAPPY. THE BEACH IS MARGINAL AND UNKEMPT THEY RARELY CLEAN THE CHAISE LOUNGES AND THERE IS GARBAGE LITTERED AROUND THEM. THE TOWELS ARE IN LOW SUPPLY AND ARE DISGUSTINGLY OLD AND STAINED. THE FOOD... ASIDE FROM BREAKFAST IS DISGUSTING AND ALMOST INEDIBLE. THE A LA Carte RESTAURANTS ARE NOT MUCH BETTER. THE ALCOHOL AT THE BAR IS THE BOTTOM OF THE BARREL AND BEYOND CHEAP. THEY SERVE YOUR DRINK IN REUSEABLE 10 OZ CUPS SO THE DRINKS ARE MIXED OUT OF PROPORTIONS. GUESTS ALSO HAVE TO WAIT ON LINE FOR FOOD WITH STAFF WHO ARE MAKING SPECIAL REQUESTS AND GETTING WAY BETTER FOOD.

A great week in the DR!

There were 5 of us in our family (3 teens, 2 adults). We had a great time! Of course there are good and bad things to every vacation! We arrived at around 12:30 and could not get our room until 3pm. Early check in not allowed. We were able to access everything while we waited. (Pack your bathingsuit & summer clothes in your carry-on!) Overall it was a great week, really good food with beautiful presentation - especially in the a la carte restaurants. Italian (I had Ravioli - delicious, my son had pizza - also amazing), Mexican (fajitas, burritos, beef) & Fusion (interesting selection of fish, pork and other things but made in a unique way - definitely worth trying!). The buffet had a lot of choice with pasta, pizza, fish, chicken, pork, soup, vegetables, fresh fruit, etc all the time. The breakfast omelettes are great. The wine is not great. They keep the red chilled. Other reviews will tell you that there is usually a lineup at the bar. There is a lot to choose from so when people order mixed drinks, you have to be patient! What's the rush!? Order 2 or 3 drinks if you don't want to wait. The grounds are really well kept, no garbage lying around. The gardens are beautiful however they flood the septic tanks so it 'naturally' fertilizes the grass & gardens but it also stinks sometimes along some of the pathways which is unpleasant. The staff are fantastic. Everyone is friendly and they work extremely hard! It was very disappointing to see the entertainment staff get stared at and reprimanded by their supervisor. He was like a hawk watching them which was really awkward. They work hard, they are really friendly and they are there from 8:30am to midnight EVERYDAY including performing in shows at night. It made me sad to see that some looked so unhappy and on edge. On the beach it was really windy so we didn't spend a lot of time there. There were also vendors from the local town who lined up to try selling to us. It got irritating so we eventually gave up spending time on the beach. The local town, Cabarete, is a 10 minute walk up the road (watch the traffic!) or along the beach. There are a lot of shops, restaurants and other places to get what you need - its a touristy place with lots of travellers and wind-surfers in town. The pool is huge (no swim-up bar) and people hoarded the lounge chairs even though there are signs saying not to. (Ultimately other travelers can be really rude and don't care that it is a shared space - not the fault of the resort). Our "All together" room was not great but we didn't spend much time there. Main floor building 13. We were told that is where all these family rooms are. It had a separate bedroom with a comfortable king bed. The balcony was off our bedroom which faced a bush and a staff walkway. It got loud early in the morning so keep the patio door shut! The other room had 2 single beds and a pull out couch. There was not a lot of room for anything else. The sink was in the open and separate from the toilet/shower. No door on the glass shower so everything got wet with the shower. It made things difficult for a family of 5 but we made it work. There is a gift shop, a spa, a workout gym and a disco. Try to tip people if you can - bartenders, housekeeping, dinner staff, etc). They deserve it.

Very Nice Trip !!!!!

My roommate and I stayed at Viva for a week over the winter right after we'd finished our final exams and it couldn't have been a better vacation. The hotel was beautiful and the food was great but what really made our stay so great was the amazing staff. Everyone was so kind and welcoming and fun to be around. The AV guys as well at Mel & Dale Pipo were awesome and made our vacay 10x more fun! Would highly recommend checking out this hotel if you're looking for a fun but also relaxing place to stay. It was the perfect balance between relaxation and party if you so desired.

Awesome vacation!

My girlfriend and I stayed at this resort back in June! We had awesome weather and an amazing time. The buffet had different options every day and they were always declicious! We stayed by the pool almost every day because the entertainment staff was so amazing! We had such a great time everyday with Michael and Franklin! Michael taught us different kinds of dances everyday and was such a great time to be around. He was very animated and always smiling and laughing. He and the rest of the entertainment staff made our awesome vacation that much better!
