THE HOTEL IS MORE OF A MOTEL. THE HOTEL IS OUTDATED AND IN NEED OF A REFRESH. THE STAFF WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE FRONT DESK AND MAIDS ARE UNHELPFUL AND LOOK AS IF THEY ARE UNHAPPY. THE BEACH IS MARGINAL AND UNKEMPT THEY RARELY CLEAN THE CHAISE LOUNGES AND THERE IS GARBAGE LITTERED AROUND THEM. THE TOWELS ARE IN LOW SUPPLY AND ARE DISGUSTINGLY OLD AND STAINED. THE FOOD... ASIDE FROM BREAKFAST IS DISGUSTING AND ALMOST INEDIBLE. THE A LA Carte RESTAURANTS ARE NOT MUCH BETTER. THE ALCOHOL AT THE BAR IS THE BOTTOM OF THE BARREL AND BEYOND CHEAP. THEY SERVE YOUR DRINK IN REUSEABLE 10 OZ CUPS SO THE DRINKS ARE MIXED OUT OF PROPORTIONS. GUESTS ALSO HAVE TO WAIT ON LINE FOR FOOD WITH STAFF WHO ARE MAKING SPECIAL REQUESTS AND GETTING WAY BETTER FOOD.

Vacation at Viva Wyndham Tangerine from Jan 2 to Jan 9, 2018

As a whole, the hotel is not bad but I do have a few negative comments. #1, charging US$2 per day for the in-room safe is really bad. We are in 2018, everyone has valuables and require a safe. The safe is already in the rooms and does not require anything from the hotel staff to use. #2, the staff at the front desk are not very helpful. When paying for the safe, I did not have the exact US$14 and only had US$20. I was told that they didn't have US change for me and tried to give me Dominican pesos instead. I had to tell then that I knew that they had change as members of my traveling group had just paid for theirs a few minutes before me. Only then did they "find" US change for me. #3, one of our rooms had non functioning air conditioning and a blocked toilet. It took 2 days to get the air conditioning fixed and the toilet was never fixed. The people in that room were offered to change rooms at around 10:00 on January 8th. As we were leaving the hotel at 08:40 on January 9th, they felt it dumb to pack everything and change room only for the 1 night. #4, the room cleaning staff was extremely slow. In all hotels that I've been to in the last 20 years, rooms have always been cleaned by 13:00 to 14:00. Don't expect your room to be cleaned before 17:00. #5, there is only 1 bar at this hotel and the bar staff don't understand anything else than Spanish, unless you are tipping. For me, asking for "white rum and diet coke" ended up receiving a glass of white wine with ice. No clue how this can happen as they don't even sound the same, even in Spanish. #6, the buffet didn't have much variety. Every day, they had the same 2 noodle dishes, the same 3 leftover hotdog sausage dishes, the same fried banana dish, the same boiled potato dish. Considering that there were a maximum of 20 dishes being served, it doesn't leave much room. #7, some of our rooms were facing the main street in block 12. If you don't like hearing cars honking at all hours of the day and night, then ensure that you are away from that location. Some of our rooms were in block 33. This is the block with the restaurants and at around 04:00 every morning, you are woken up by the sound of the pots and pans and then the smell of the food being prepared. Now for a few positive points. #1, the rooms were beautiful and very clean. #2, the hotel itself is very clean. Almost everywhere you looked, there was someone with a mop or a broom. #3, the beach is one of the best that I've seen. Don't get me wrong, it was not the nice white sands of Cuba but there was no shells in the sand. You could walk without sandals and you wouldn't get hurt on every step, like in Cuba. #4, the animation team is awesome. Special thanks to "La Pinki", "Charma", "Capuccino" and "Electric V" for a super fun week. Even during the 1.5 day of rain, they were able to keep a smile on our faces. They had board games ready and even sat down with us to play with us. Would I go back to this hotel? Absolutely not. For the $1300 that it cost per person, there are much better hotels to go to. Would I suggest this hotel to others? If you don't mind my few negative points and the price, then sure.

We have been there many times we like the hotel very clean Good food staff is great Bad point: No frige in the room. My daughter had a médecine to take and i had to go at the reception everytime she needed it. In the last visit with my Family sumner 2017 we’re really disapointed for some sports activities : 1. Not tennis lessons like it used to have in the morning and afternoons! Friends of mine recently visit and theres still not 2. Simple Water sport equipments like bodyboards can be great if theres was bit more and not half broken 3. More Choice of non alcohol drinks

My family and I recently went to Dominican Republic for the first time. We went from December 26th to January 2nd. We are a family of 5 with 3 teenage girls. We traveled to Viva Wyndham Tangerine and our trip was absolutely amazing! We arrived at around 7pm on a Tuesday. The rooms are a good size and had 1 king size bed and 2 single beds plus a pull out couch which was perfect for our family of five (the altogether room). The buffet had a good variety and had different themes everyday. However the food didn't really change but it was not a problem since we aren't very picky and we definitely never went hungry. But the best party was definitely the desserts and the pizza they had. The resort had 3 restaurants (Mexican, Italian and one other) the food was amazing at these restaurants and you had lots of variety. You generally Got your food quickly but sometimes had to wait a little. The beach at this resort was absolutely beautiful! The water was clear and had nice waves. They weren't too big but could be dangerous for weak swimmers. You never had to wake up early to get a seat since most people moved anyways. They also had a beach volleyball court which was a lot of fun. There were kite surfers during the afternoon but they weren't a problem and stayed away from the swimmers. The weather was beautiful every day and even if it started cloudy it never lasted over a couple hours and it never rained for more than 3 minutes at a time. The resort had plenty of activities That kept you busy! They had everything from bingo to stretching, water aerobics, Zumba, volleyball and Spanish lessons. But the best part of this resort is the staff! Everyone is so nice and make your vacation so much better. They are so engaged in what they are doing and make you feel included. The entertainers at this resort were Chama, Capuccino, Blacky, Franklin, Bom Bom, La Pinki and Jacqueline and Coco! Blacky, Franklin and Capuccino were the 3 main male entertainers and were so much fun! They involved you in everything and had so much energy and you could tell they loved their jobs. Anything they did made you want to join in because you saw how much fun they were having! Bom Bom, Chama, La Pinky and Jacqueline were the female entertainers who the just as amazing! They were all amazing dancers and were such nice people. They took time to get to know you and ask about your life. They all work so hard and are so great at what they do. Capuccino was the male entertainer that I got to know the most. We included him in our family and we even took a picture. He has so much energy and make the activities so much fun! He had the best English out of the guys. I especially got to know Chama who was one of the best entertainers. She is an amazing dancer so was featured in the shows and she is so sweet! She took the time to ask about our lives and even shared information about her life with us. She is awesome at her job and everything she did was so much fun and she was so engaged. Chama had the best English out of the female entertainers and was easy to understand and to have a conversation with! I would definitely return to this resort and would recommend you try it out!

Hotel room for 5 (3 kids) was average but nice to have 3 single beds for the kids. Food was average but easy to get seating. Animation was the best. Chama, Capucino, Fraklin, Bombom and Blackey made our trip so much fun. They took the time to say hi, include us in lots of activiities and made our teenage girls feel a part of a Tangerine Family. Girls want to return to see their animation friends. Dancing after the nightly shows were a hightlight for our family. Great beach for walking and always got a chair each as a family for 5!
