The Hotel is very nice. The food is also nice. But the best are the Animateurs. They do there job very welle. Yesterday a Venezuelian animtaeur drived with Hotelguests in a katamaran in the sea. That was absolutely Amazon.

Good value for $$$

Bit over rated as 4star but meets basic all inclusive requirements. One bar, three restaurants, clean, good service. (Did not like Fusion restaurant). There's a vip area with extra charges for drinks which was deserted all time. It's a good base hotel if you are planning few trips off the resort however do shop around because trips offered by resort sellers are Very pricey!. As a general warning be aware most bigger restaurants will automatically include 10%tip and 18%tax, we were lied to that tips not included (Scotch n Sirloin), however local bar owners explained how it works. Great Thx to Steve@Sinatra's, ((Make sure you visit Sinatra's for a great meal and friendly atmosphere)). Otherwise generally smaller businesses with give you total price European style as VAT(value added tax) all in price. Taxi to Sosua 4person 600pesos, taxi to other end of Cabarete 300pesos. All available at Esso gas station across from hotel lobby (we had Rafael as our regular). Check out excellent YouTube channel educated traveler, MrT. He's a wealth of information for all things local to Sousa and Cabarete.

Nice resort but could use improvements

We are a middle aged couple that were celebrating a wedding anniversary. We stayed here for a week mid September 2018. Here are the pros: - Extremely well kept landscaping and grounds, absolutely pristine - Small resort so not too many people - Pool area is directly on the palm tree lined beach - Beautiful beach where you can go for long walks but be careful of the strong surf that is typical for this northern part of the Dominican. Large waves make for great boogie boarding, surfing and kite surfing. - We were told that this resort was closed for 3-months in 2016 for complete renovations and the rooms are very modern and tidy, not your typical Caribbean 'dated decor' resort - Food selection wasn't bad, plenty of fresh fruit - This resort is very unassuming from the town road site. As you enter the lobby area and check-in the resort opens up to a very picturesque and tranquil setting - Top notch security at this resort. It is obvious the resort spends a lot on keeping their facility and guests safe and this is comforting! - Great location within a short walking distance to the village, shopping, bars and restaurants if you want a change from the resort. - If you would like some 'good' beer and snacks, simply walk across the street to the very clean gas station store....they sell Heineken and other beers for reasonable prices. Cons: - Poor selection of A La Carte restaurants and food served at the 3-a la carte's is not much better than at the buffet - Only one bar serves the entire resort, we were there 'off peak' and there were still lineups. Very poorly stocked and limited drink selection, no name brands. We tried various drinks and most were undrinkable. Suggest buying your own liquor off site and make your drinks in your room for a nice night cap - Cappuccino machine broke down on a Thursday and still was not repaired when we left the following Tuesday. Vacationer's love their coffee so make sure you have a standby machine when this happens! - Bring a face cloth! They don't supply these with your bathroom towels? - Beware of 'timeshare type' scammers that this resort somehow allows to operate in the lobby and buffet areas! Two questionable and extremely friendly gentlemen try to befriend new arrivals and convince them to take a short taxi ride down the road to look at a new condo being built (THIS IS NOT A VIVA resort or promotion) It is nothing short of a Time Share scam looking for your membership. - How VIVA allows these people to prey on their customers is shocking! Get rid of these scammers and let people enjoy their hard earned vacations. - Once you venture onto the sandy beach you are fair game for the locals to sell you their wares. You will be hounded.

The resort has a very strict policy on having friends or guests visit a family member vacationing and staying at the property. You will have to pay about $110/ day additional just for a friend or family to visit you.

So much fun we didn’t want to leave

This is my second time in the Wyndham group and have to say I wasn’t disappointed. Originally we were staying 8 days in this hotel and then going to another but after having such a good time we decided to stay till the end of the holiday. The sports team was great and always with a smile to help you out with anything you needed. These guys are tireless. All day on the job but with just as much enthusiasm they are there to dance and get everyone involved after dinner along with the animation team. After that off to the theatre to put everything have into some really spectacular shows. There was a wide range of eating options so you could always find something. Being placed not far from the center of Cabarete if you enjoy night life there are plenty of options. I had read some bad reviews beforehand but was pleasantly surprised on the service the rooms and the level of attention that was paid to the guests. Having had a problem with the aircon late in the afternoon it was fixed within the hour. Definitely recommend. Thanks to everyone that made of holiday a memorable one.
