My husband and I purchased timeshare with Villa Group about 4 years ago and haven't had a chance to use it. We've been wanting to come to Loreto for awhile and the stars finally aligned. This will be an in depth and honest review. The resort is about 30 minutes south of Loreto. I personally recommend renting a car and absolutely recommend renting a car if you're a busy body because there is very little to do at the resort. We rented a car for the week at the airport ($200 total) and drove to the resort. The roads are nice and easy to navigate. By the time you pay for the transfer shuttle and take the shuttle into town once, the car pays for itself. The resort is nestled in the hills/mountains in a small bay. It is beautifully located and fairly remote. The resort itself is nothing special. The lobby is underwhelming and they are not done building so there is some construction. The room: clean and has everything you need. We were in a studio and it had a fully stocked kitchen and a jacuzzi tub. The rooms are otherwise very boring and I would compare them to a 3.5-4 star hotel in the states. The bed was comfortable. The resort: there are multiple pools, plenty of chairs and towels available. They seemed understaffed given the fact that it's low season here, but there was a pool bartender from 11-5. I think it's silly that the pool bar closes so early, but you can go to the nearby restaurant and get a drink. The resort does provide some activities, but not enough in my opinion. They have paddle boards and kayaks you can use if you have the all inclusive, but only for one hour, once a day. There is a hiking trail, which I recommend for something different to do. They offer golf but it was fairly expensive and atv tours as well. The water is crystal clear but doesn't appear so since the sand is dark. The gym has a lot of equipment and is worth using if you are a gym goer. The food: there are three restaurants. Casa Mia is Italian and the food was pretty good, we ate here most nights, The Market, which we couldn't find anything on the menu to try, and Danzante, the nicest of the three. It really, really annoyed me that it was $20/pp extra to eat there, especially since we already spent so much, but it was a good meal and honestly if you're here 5+ days, you'll want the variety. The breakfast and lunch selections were great. I would overall rate the food as just slightly above average. If you are an active vacation person like me, you'll probably find this resort to be a little slow and boring. There is an entertainment staff, but they don't do much. If you rnet a car however, there is plenty nearby. Loreto is a cool town, the mission at San Javier is beautiful and a day trip to the beaches outside of Mulege is a must. Overall, of all the resorts I've stayed at in Mexico I would give this a 3.5 out of 5. Beautiful scenery, underwhelming hotel and food, very quiet. For those looking to lay by a pool and do little else, this place is perfect.

We had an awesome time, the people at the resort really care about their jobs and their service is outstanding, especially Gregorio at the Market Restaurant he went above and beyond to make sure our dinner was an amazing experience, humble and truly enjoys what he does. Thank you so much.

There is something really special about this particular resort. Nothing but smiles and new friends to be made. It might be the beautiful location and the fact that the waters are protected. Nothing but blue water and so many fish. It also could be the amazing food and drinks made to perfection. I personally think it was something more than that for me. It was the people that made it so special. We were at the resort no longer than an hour and the staff was already referring to me and my wife by name. Every time we would see one of the amazing staff members it was like seeing your friend inviting you for a drink. This is serious.. It was so amazing to be treated to well. Thank you so much Villa Del Palmar Staff!! No joke this is a must. Amazing Staff, food, drinks, rooms, hiking, snorkeling, pool, Golf course and again staff. People you must meet. World Class Yoga and Spa in Baja

While spending a wonderful week at Villa del Palmar during the balmy month of August, we enjoyed five-star yoga on the beach and on a paddle board. Tania is an amazing yoga instructor teaching proper form and postures, and she was very inspirational with her calming voice and a zen vibe. As the week went on, the class grew from word of mouth about the beauty of these classes. The spa was also a highlight, gorgeous facility with great massages, and friendly service by front desk leader, Stephanie, who greets you and wishes you a great stay as you leave the spa.
