Great Personal Service from this Resort

We spent the first week of October here after the hurricane Maria and almost everything was operating as they told me over the phone and they were busy painting and fixing things while we were there. It is all-inclusive and had plenty of good food choices. We had some minor issues with our room and we were graciously moved to one of their renovated rooms, although both rooms were nice. One thing I wasn't prepared for was long pants. Yeah, you need to wear long pants in their two sit-down restaurants. I was not real happy about that. We are on vacation in the Caribbean, why would I need long pants! So i mentioned that to my new best friend there - Barbara! - Without asking (only complaining) a pair of long pants showed up in my room the next day. A couple sizes too small, but worked just fine under my untucked shirt for me for an hour a day. They do have the mega buffet restaurant that doesn't require long pants btw, The thing we ended up liking the most was the "El Cano" restaurant & bar next to the small pool. El Cano and the small pool are only for the Cayena Beach Resort guests. The Cayena Beach resort is part of the much larger VIK hotel, so you get super personalized service, but also have a amenities of a large hotel/resort as well. What could be better? No long pants for dinner! and both the included red and white wines at the sit down restaurants are bad. The white is bearable, but the red is just terrible. I watched how many time the red wine glasses were either left on the table full or the waiter took it back - probably 80-90% of the time. Whats the best? Well Barbara of course, and all the staff at the El Cano. The ocean front view from our room was super too. Then I liked that hammock out by the beach as well. Lots of volleyball with worldwide competitors. Too bad I got these giant blisters on my feet that shut that down for me though.

This is our third trip to the Cayena Beach club - The club is the perfect spot if you are looking for personalized service while on vacation. The club staff is absolutely the best you will find! Carlos, Jocelyn, Barbara and everyone at this resort goes out of their way to make you feel at home. Beach area is private, they will book any excursions from the office, the VIP dining is crazy good - (breakfast and Lunch) dinner at one of the five restaurants or buffet is also very good. Can not stress the top notch service from all the staff. We will be back year after year! The only issue we had was with the photo service from Sunshine Pictures, they are very unprofessional, rude and in my opinion should be replaced.

Always a pleasure to return "home" to see all the great people. They are like second family to us. They always have a smile and make the trip great. I've never had a complaint about the food. Always nice to meet new people and reconnect with people you have previously met. Won't find a friendlier staff or more relaxing vacation. There is also plenty to do if you aren't the sitting around type. Can't wait to return. Miss it the moment I leave.

My overall stay at VIK was fun and relaxing with some needs of improvements. Hotel property: the hotel property was clean and nice. Room: I stayed in room 104. The room was clean and one of the updated rooms. I asked for an updated room and was accommodated. the only issue I had was with the bed. It was super uncomfortable for a couple days. I said something to staff and it was fixed with a pillow top the same day. The bathroom was lovely and the set up of the room was okay. The beach: I really much enjoyed the beach it was the favorite part of my stay. It was very clean, the water was beautiful clean green/blue. There were hammocks and plenty of chairs. I would go for walks early morning when there's less people out. I also enjoyed it being next to the beach house where they served drinks, breakfast and food. Along the beach were also other areas to get drinks. The only complaint for the beach was lack of beach towels after noon. Bring your own ! Food: the breakfast buffet was my favorite. I'm terrible with names but the chef who does the omelets was very nice and made what I requested. The buffet item had fresh fruits, veggies and other Dominican breakfast items. My least favorite was dinner . Most of the time I ate at the buffet and other times I at the Mexican onsite restaurant. The dinner food offered in the buffet was at time bland. I'm a sea food eater and there weren't many options. During those evenings I ate Mexican food. Customer service is why I gave 3 stars. I felt pressured by sales people. When I scheduled a tour, I was left waiting for 45 minutes. When it was time to leave I was told to leave my bags in the room and the bell boy would take them to the front for me. After 45 minutes, the bags were still in the room and I found out the driver was also waiting 45 min for me. There was poor communication between staff. I had to walk back to my room with the bell boy to get my bags and I didn't like that there are several pick ups and no announcements. Which I felt was terrible. Also, two days before my stay I asked for laundry bag and a sheet two days before my departure to leave with clean laundry. The main desk receptionist was at lunch and the person covering had no clue where to find the bags and the form . I waited 30 minutes while she ran around to find them; unacceptable! She later had an attitude with me and pass me the next day without saying hello because I expressed my discontentment with having to wait. I had an excursion shortly after and waisted 30 minutes waiting that I didn't have time to complete it . I believe front desk staff should be organized and informative with good customer service skills.

Heading back again this October 2017

I can't wait to come back again this October, this time bringing some friends and the in-laws... Honestly, I can't say enough about this resort... It's on the small side which I love, less walking is not always a bad thing... Barb and Melanie are amazing as is, Newton, Antonio, Yunior and Yoselin.. Amazing people! This place is like our home away from home and you could not ask for a more beautiful beach... The food at the VIP restaurant is top notch! Kudos to their great chefs... If you are looking for a wild and crazy resort, then look elsewhere.. If you are looking for pure beauty, kind people and relaxation, this is this place... You will also meet so many wonderful people and make many new friends... We just love this place!!
