We loved it here. The food was great and the beach is wonderful. We stayed for 5 days and wish it was longer. The only downside was the people selling the timeshares. We felt pressure to buy one but we aren't interested in being tied down to one place.

We've been coming here for 11 years. The staff knows us and are wonderful! It's a boutique oceanfront hotel. The good in the restaurants is delicious. It's been renovated and the rooms are gorgeous. We keep returning because of the high quality staff. Plus I believe that we have the closest rooms to the beach on the entire beach in Punta Cana.

My husband and I spent a week at VIK Hotel Cayena Beach April 1 - 8, 2017. We had a great time. It is right on an awesome beach with plenty of great lounge chairs, hammocks, etc. So relaxing! I rated it 5 as the beach area is so awesome and that really made it for us. The rooms are acceptable - clean but the room we were in (304) could use updating. The pools are nice but there isn't a hot tub. We had two double beds and a couch which looked like it was also a sofa bed. There was one small flat screen TV where the double beds were and none in the couch area but who's there to watch TV anyway. There was no DVD or washer/dryer although laundry service is available. Staff were great but a leaking ceiling we experienced was not fixed during our stay. We think it was from the air conditioning unit. Another minor maintenance issue we had was addressed immediatly. There is daily cleaning service and the furniture is very sturdy. There was both a front and back porch on our unit which were both nice. All inclusive food and drink was acceptable but food wasn't outstanding. A small dorm size refrigerator was stocked daily with water, 7-Up, Pepsi and beer (2 of each). Signs in the bathroom indicate not to drink the tap water. WIFI was sporadic. All in all we would probably stay here again. We were told rooms are being updated.

My husband, myself, and our friends just returned from a 2 week vacation at VIK Hotel Cayena Beach. The VIK Hotel Cayena Beach has only 47 rooms so the staff offers very personalized service. The people at the front desk at VIK Cayena Beach were spectacular. Ezekiul, Barb, Melanie, and Nikki are fluent in several languages and were very attentive to our needs. They made sure we had everything we wanted. Pasqual, Carlos, and Jocelyn at ElCano Restaurant were wonderful. Pasqual greeted us each morning with fist bumps, had a good word to say, and always wished us a great day. Carlos always had a smile on his face and did whatever was needed. Jocelyn made sure our coffee cups were filled in the morning and our drinks were refilled. Oscar made omelets, waffles, eggs Benedict and florentine, as well as eggs any way you wanted them. He knew what we liked and always had a smile. All of the above helped to make our stay that much more enjoyable. We truly felt we were leaving friends on our last day. ElCano Restaurant is open only to those staying at VIK Cayena Beach so it is small and intimate. It serves breakfast and lunch to those staying at VIK Cayena Beach. For dinner, VIK Cayena Beach guests have the buffet and restaurants on Arena Blanca adjoining the VIK Cayena Beach Property. The food at the buffet was always varied, but by the time you sat down, very often the food had lost its heat. We preferred eating at the Mexican Restaurant, the Italian restaurant, or at the fish restaurant. VIK Hotel Cayena Beach is located on a beautiful beach that extends several walkable miles in both directions. The sand feels like talcum powder under your feet; the water is a beautiful shade of blue-green. The hotel grounds and the beach are patrolled by security guards so you always feel safe. There are plenty of lounge chairs in shaded areas where you can sit, relax, and watch the ocean. VIK Hotel Cayena Beach also has its own pool where you can choose to relax in the shade, the sun, or the pool. As a guest at VIK Hotel Cayena Beach, guests also have access to the larger ( and more crowded pool) at Arena Blanca as well as any activities and facilities on both properties. Our accommodations were spacious and clean. The furnishings are in need of updating. We had two balconies, one in the front overlooking the pool area and one in the back overlooking the ocean. I am giving VIK Hotel Cayena Beach a 3 star rating because of the following reasons: 1. Aside from the main reception desk for VIK Hotel Cayena Beach, most of the staff spoke little or no English. If you had a question about an item on the menu at a restaurant, no one was able to tell you what was in the dish or if it was spicy. At the market next to the reception area for Arena Blanca, not one of the clerks in the store spoke English. The Spa's receptionist did not speak English so it was impossible to find out what was included in the prices for the services listed. At one point, Ezekiul called the spa for me to find out about services, and all the receptionist referred him to was a book with pictures of the services but not how they differed or what was included. 2. At one point during our stay, the electric power was turned off for over 2 hours for maintenance. The big issue was with the power turned off, there was no running water to flush toilets or wash hands anywhere on the entire property. I understand the need for maintenance, but there should be a backup generator so that this wouldn't be an issue. 3. Towards the end of our stay, we had water dripping from our ceiling onto the floor. Because it happened at the end of our stay, the management did not have time to respond. That was not management's fault. 4. Wi-Fi is available, but spotty! Strangely enough, wi-Fi was better at ElCano Restaurant, the pool area, and the beach, with poor to no reception in your room. 5. Smoking is allowed in many public areas. Both my husband and myself are extremely sensitive to smoke so this was an issue for us. Overall we had a very enjoyable vacation. My husband and I are divided on whether we we would return. He would definitely make a return visit, and I have mixed feelings due to the above issues I mentioned.

Small, personal, enjoyable experience.

I'm a fan of Cayena. It's mostly a timeshare resort, so the service is personalized -- the staff know who you are and they cater to your needs. Most of the staff have been their for years -- people like Antonio the bartender and Pascual the restaurant manager have been on staff since the place opened 17 years ago. They know what works and how to do it. Shout out to Ezekial and Nikki on the front desk, along with Barb and the two Melanies. I've heard people complain about lack of English language. Just go to any of those people I just mentioned and start speaking English, French or German -- they won't flinch as they respond to you quickly and perfectly. Cayena has no night life, but if you want beach, restaurant, swimming pool, and good rooms, then it's a good place.
