This was a amazing place. I would suggest anybody go for any occasion . The food was wonderful and you had so many choice to choose from. They service was amazing. They had a adult only infinity pool plus one for any age. The pictures on the website do not do justice for how beautiful the resort is in person. So many activities on site that you really did not need to even leave the resort.

Bad service makes for a bad experience

When you arrive to the property, there is a pleasant aroma that greets you. Everyone has huge smiles and is very welcoming. If you paid for one of the platinum rooms like we did, then you are brought over to the platinum club area for check in; a very relaxing experience where you get your first taste of the VIP treatment with top shelf drinks or snacks. Then you are introduced to your butler...yes you have a butler. Then comes the tour of the grounds and it is beautiful....very well maintained. The room was cozy...smaller than expected but, still very nice. You are given a pillow menu to select from four or five diffent types of pillows for your stay...in addition to the four pillows on the bed, and aroma therapy for the room, we chose night passion. The mini fridge was stocked with Sprite, Fanta Orange, Coke, Diet Coke, an Apple flavored soda, mango juice boxes and of course water. The toiletries included a tooth brush, toothpaste, five different soaps, mosquito repellent lotion and shampoo. Oh yeah we also had slippers (brand new- wrapped in plastic) and robes. Needless to say, they supplied you with a lot of things. Sounds great right? There are also various restaurants for dinner (the seafood restaurant was the best we had there...it is also the most popular, so make your reservations early and perhaps a day in advance.). There is also the Mercado de la Delores that is like an eatery. A lot of places to select from and the food was pretty good. There is also a spa and the hydrotherapy is great. This service is included with any service purchased. So the price may seem a little high, but you are getting two services per visit. Now comes the dark side of the visit. We made our reservations for dinner as required via our butler, but we were never asked what time we wanted the reservations for...it was like we were given whatever was available. So some nights we ate dinner as early as 5pm. The latest we ate dinner at this point was about 6pm. We had to make several calls to have things done after the first night such as the aroma therapy or the restocking of the mini fridge, The butler service, could have been better. Just about everything we requested we had to request again by calling the front desk repeatedly. In one instance (out of four) we were told the wrong time for our reservation and another time the car that was to pick us up never showed. So two out of four instances we had an issue with reservations via the butler service. Then there was the time I called to have a room service tray picked up. I was told to leave it outside the door for pick up. My thought was that someone was coming right away to get it. So I do as I’m told and go to the pool. I come back an hour later and some animals had gone through the leftovers, taken bites, tossed lettuce around the floor, and just made a mess of things. I immediately called the front desk to let them know, and I was told that someone would be right up. 30 minutes later, no one showed up. So I called again. This time I was asked what type of animals, mind you I was not there to see this happen, so I had no idea. I was told that someone from the kitchen would be up. Another 20 minutes, no one showed. I happened to see someone housekeeping dropping off tens for various rooms, told her about the mess, she looked irritated and made a gesture as if to say, “I’ll be back after I deliver these items”. She never returned. Then I saw someone from the kitchen delivering food, so I figured this is the person. However, after he dropped of the food, he went back to his cart to leave. I ran downstairs to stop him and returned to my room with him to pick up the tray. He took the tray and the solid food that was tossed off the tray. I took a towel and cleaned up the area in front of the door. For the rest of the night no one stopped by the room, this is even after my girlfriend went to the front desk and spoke with the manager on duty about the whole thing. The manager had the audacity to scold her about leaving food outside the door because of animals...but that is what his staff told us to do. The water at the resort was brown. This was due to the seaweed and we were told the whale sharks did not come to eat the seaweed this year so there was a lot of seaweed in the water. But there were a lot of pools in the area to use. With all the extras offered, the service made it less enjoyable. I really wanted to like this resort, but I was not able to do so. A lot of the things needed we had to do ourselves despite the “butler service” So I doubt I would come back to this location. For the amount we paid I expect much better service.

Vacation of a lifetime! We are already planning our next trip back! We were treated like a King and a Queen, or quite possibly better! From the moment we stepped inside the lobby to the tearful good-byes. Staff AMAZING, accommodations perfect, food excellent, nice variety. Special shout out to Gina, Sue, Arlene, Angel, Braulio and most importantly to Ron Santiago for treating us like family. You all give a new meaning to the word hospitality. Folks you would be doing yourself a disservice by not checking out this place! Be sure to check out their wall of awards, guess we are not the only people who think this place is excellent!

I wanted to love it

Overview I really wanted to love Ventus; good food, creative spa treatments, and even great excursion gifts from the timeshare presentation could not make up for the service issues. I do not reccomend this resort to a seasoned all-inclusive traveller. Room Nice studio with comfy bed. Take advantsge of the aromaterpahy and pillow menu. The robes were too small for us. There.werr ample towels. Water pressure was good in showers. It took some time for water to get hot. Beach/pool Unfortunately, the sea water was brown and full of seaweed. Nice jacuzzis scattered around property. The pools were lovely. The adults area was a nice touch except when the adults bring their children into the area. Spa At the spa, the two women managing the front desk initially would not acknoweldge us. One of the staff had a screaming toddler with her so it was difficult to schedule appointments and ask questions because her daughter would scream even louder. The woman made sure to tell us if we need more pressue we needed to pay for another type of massage. We never asked about pressure or cost, so it was very akward moment. When we finally booked the appointment , we had a wonderful experience with a massage on the beach; our therapists were lovely. The 50 minute hydrotherapy is great and is included in most treatments -- that is why the prices may seem a little higher. So don't be discouraged by the price. Restsurants We had very nice wait staff at the seafood restaurant and alcazar. The Mercado de Dolores was awesome. The French restaurant hostess was clearly upset with us for asking for a table closer to the window. She did not bother to hide her frustration. The waiter at the italian restaurant was clearly very disappointed when we orded the house wine and not from the wine list. Sigh. Housekeeping and guest service Housekeeping would come twice a day at first, then but by day three we had to ask if someone was coming. Rides would not show up, and other requested services would not arrive. Sometimes it took two or three calls for service requests. Yesterday we asked several times to restock our fridge with water and soda because we had nothing. It took seven hours for two orange sodas to appear. Another example , before we left for the pool, we were told to put our leftover room service tray in the hall for someone to pick it up right away. two hours later when we retutned the food was on the walls, the door and across the floor; clearly animals had been there enjoying the leftovers. We called again and no one arrived. My BF cleaned up the mess (guac, refried beans, burrito, lettuce.. A mess!!) Frustrated, I walked to the front desk to tell the MOD what happened and our frustration. He said he would send someone. I asked why when we had to do it. And this was not right. My Bf shouldn't have to clean this up and we shoudn't have to keep begging your teams for service. Again the manager offered no resolution or apology. So i asked for a discount on BF's upcoming spa treatment since he had to clean. He said the spa is diferrent and shrugged. Again, nothing was offerred to help rectify the situation. In fact, I was scolded and told not to leave food outside. I said again we followed the directions on the card that came with the tray and by your front desk agents. Anyhow if things go wrong here, don't expect too much. It's not worth it to complain.

Beautiful Resort

5 stars for resort, service and amenities, 3 stars for food quality and taste. This is a beautiful resort. The grounds are lovely and well kept. Great pools. The rooms are nicely appointed with contemporary decor. We upgraded to a 1 bedroom suite with 2 baths, living area and an oceanview. So worth the cost! The suite had 2 balconies overlooking the family infinity pool and ocean. Incredible views! El Cid and Ventus are 1 big property and you can use the facilities on both. Regarding comments made about the beach, the sand is groomed daily and you can use the palapas, chairs and piers. Currently, the sargassum grass is heavy along the entire Yucatan peninsula. The resort can't control this. You can swim, snorkel and dive a short way out from the resort. We did a day snorkel at the reef and it was great. The wonderful pools really make up for the lack of clear water directly on the beach. The resort offers nightly entertainment, the sort a cruise ship would have. Very entertaining and accessible. Good bars. Offered top shelf alcohol. Only complaint, many restaurant meals were bland, lukewarm or cold or just not very good. I understand that when appealing to a wide section of people, they may tone down food, but a lot of the food was too bland. Regarding other reviews: we had no issues getting reservations at any restaurant, got premium, top shelf pours when we called out brands, and enjoyed the variety of foods at the mercado (their version of buffet). The presentation on plates was very well done. We did not opt for platinum club and felt that it would have been a waste of money for us. We were always able to get a cabana, get reservations and our housekeeper was able to supply any needed items including newspapers. Very easy to book any tours or spa services at concierge desk. Overall, a definite 5 star. We really enjoyed the total experience.
