Won't Go Back

This hotel was definitely not the star rating that was advertised. We upgraded with Apple Vacations to an ocean view room, and the hotel said this was not communicated to them, resulting in a big delay upon arrival, and changing rooms 3 times - The whole first day of our vacation was wasted. Almost every one of the staff at this hotel was completely rude and seemed unhappy and/or lazy. No one came to clean our room for 3 days, and when they finally did, had an attitude towards us. The cost for this vacation was overpriced, and although the hotel was all-inclusive, we ended up going elsewhere to eat most of the time since the food was less than par. The beach was pretty during the day, but I didn't feel safe going out to the beach at night, since someone was always waiting to sell drugs or hit on me, and would get angry when they were denied. I would not recommend this hotel to friends, and I most likely won't be going back to Barbados.

The staff could not do enough to make our stay enjoyable! We were bothered by the birds who constantly attempted to compete for food on our tables. This would be considered a health hazard in the United States!

Good, but not perfect

Stayed here for a week with my wife and young baby. Overall a good stay, but there is room for improvement. Checkin was straight forward and they accommodated my room request which was a big plus. Room was a good size and well maintained by the housekeeping staff. Beach had seaweed issues but I knew to expect this so no complaints here. Hotel was on the small side but in a good location to walk to St Lawrence Gap. Where it fell down for me, was that it’s rather tired looking in some places and the evening meal / buffet wasn’t great. Breakfast and lunch was fine with plenty of options but the evening buffet left a lot to be desired. Did the waterfront night once and again, the food wasn’t great and came out in very small portions (we ate outside the hotel for 3 nights of our 7 night stay which I recommend). The hotel could certainly do with a lick of paint and freshening up in some areas as previous reviewers have mentioned. Those expecting 5 star luxury, look elsewhere. In reality it’s currently a tired looking 4 star hotel which without improvements, could easily fall into the 3 star category. But to its credit, the staff were great and more than helpful. The facilities were ok and the majority of the food / drinks hit the mark.

Excellent hotel with exceptional service

Really enjoyed myself at this hotel. The abundance of food and the variety was excellent. Thanking Henderson, Monique to name a few of the staff who made my stay unforgettable. I will be back soon. The room were very clean and maintained to a good standard. We were provided with a good package lunch for the day. The only thing that let the hotel down is the poor wi-fi. Service did not reach our room on the 4th floor. Unable to call family using internet apps. Otherwise this hotel is worth the visit.

An honest review to help people.......

Ok so having read tons of reviews prior to our holiday I was slightly nervous. So firstly if you want flat Caribbean Sea pay more and stay on the West Coast. The hotel is on the southern coast where the Atlantic meets the Caribbean Sea. It’s rough and the beautiful island has a seaweed problem all along the East Coast to the South. This is not the Hotels fault and they work hard to clear it from the beach. So on arrival we were greeted by very friendly and attentive staff and offered a drink while they bought the check in paperwork to us. We were shown to our room (the hotel had upgraded us to an ocean view)! The room was great but on the first floor and due to our 4 year olds obsession with the balcony we asked to move after the first night. We were moved immediately to a wonderful ground floor ocean view room. The benefit of staying on the south coast where the sea is rough is the wonderful sound of the crashing waves. There are 3 pools and a large jacuzzi. One of the pools is shallow and perfect for smaller children that cannot yet swim. They were a great temperature and kept very clean. The poolside staff are fab and come round offering a selection of drinks, the rum punch was a favourite of ours, fresh fruit mid morning and ice lollies/creams in the afternoon. The food was great and the A La Carte restaurants were easy to book and the food was fantastic!!!! They have premium spirits, a great choice of drinks and the service is great. Both the ice cream parlour and coffee shop were fantastic too. My husband also visited the gym and was impressed. I completely disagree regarding poor entertainment. We saw a 4 piece female singing group 4 times (they play twice a week) and they were outstanding, the type of a t people would pay to see, much better than you would expect at a hotel. So for us, as seasoned travellers who often stay at 5 star resorts so weren’t expecting it to be as good as it was. So as mentioned if you want the stunning flat Caribbean Sea and 5 star luxury, pay more and stay on the more expensive West Coast!!!! I would definitely recommend this hotel for value, amenities, staff, etc etc

Wonderful hotel

After reading a ton of reviews I chose Turtle beach however I wish I would have stayed at crystal cove the sister hotel on the west coast. We ended up spending our time at crystal cove by booking through the activities at turtle beach. The beach at turtle was filled with red seaweed which made the water look dark and definitely not swimmable. There is absolutely no music at all during the day and very little to no entertainment at night. The hotel needs renovation. It is very worn. The first day The hotel got us a cab for $30. The next day we walked out of hotel and grabbed a cab for $15 by bargaining with the cab driver. crystal cove has 3 beautiful pools, nice restaurants, and the beach is stunning and that was the main reason I chose Barbados. If I do return I will definitely go to crystal cove. The first 3 pictures are Turtle beach and the rest are Crystal Cove.
