Twin visit with Sea Breeze
JAGR2222,

We had a fantastic 9 days at the start fo the school holidays in July. We did a twin trip and then moved onto Sea Breeze almost next door and is a 15 minute walk via the beach or a 5 minute taxi drive. I appreciate the hotel in places is a little tired, this is counteracted by some brilliant staff, management and excellent food and drink. The welcome was brilliant with fresh pastries and lovely cocktails. We were very fortunate to be upgraded to a sea view ground floor, with views over the wedding venue on the beach. The coffee shop and ice cream shop were superb additions to the hotel with an amazing range of hot and cold drinks, cakes, snacks and various iced drinks. You can book your evening meal in one of the 2 a la carte restaurants the day before at 8am and we never had any issues getting in. Bottled water everywhere, Picnics for trips out, the water sports men. We preferred the main pool and to be fair I was more than happy to get down early and relax on a dumbed before breakfast. The buffet restaurant was excellent and I loved the lunch option with a sea view. The only challenge for the hotel is balancing big American groups turning up with a family resort. Iā€™m not sure this works. We had an issue with noise one evening and to be fair the hotel sorted it immediately. Great holiday and memories and I i was picking a hotel versus sea breeze, then Turtle Beach would be the WINNER!

Nice Place for a Family Reunion

I stayed at the Turtle Resort for a family reunion. They were very accommodating. They hung our Family Reunion banner across the front of the resort for all to see. They provided an activity guide for our family fun on the beach day. And they reserved an area in the dinning room for my family for breakfast and dinner every day, except for the evening we had our white affair and dined in the other restaurant. The food was OK. But it was plentiful. They have a delightful ice parlor where you build your own sundae. The staff was wonderful and welcoming. Unfortunately the beach was having an unusually heavy deposit of seaweed, so entering the brown water was distasteful. The rooms were elegant and the view from the balconies were all ocean view. I arrived on a Thursday and left on a Monday. I missed their night of entertainment they have only on Wednesdays. Karaoke during lunch was welcomed. They have a spa where you can go to get a massage or manicure and pedicure. They are also handicap ready. I have a wheel chair bond relative and she had the grandest time and enjoy all of our activities, even those on the beach. They have a meeting room we used to share family history and family news as well as another time for our family business meeting. Additionally, when we took a tour to the Newton Slaves Burial Grounds, they prepare and packed a lunch for us to have off site. I recommend Turtle Resort because they go out of their way to make you feel comfortable. They are, however a small resort.

It's not our first & for sure not our last. First & foremost is the friendliness & helpfulness of all the staff. For value for your money, you can't beat it. You can eat & drink yourself silly :) The additions of the Cafe & Ice cream parlour - genius!

Barbados and beach lovely, Turtle Beach Hotel not so much.

We returned from our stay at Turtle Beach on 3rd September. The beach was lovely, sea fairly rough which made for some good body boarding but children cannot go in unaccompanied. There was some seaweed, no-ones fault obviously and when it gathered on the beach it was cleared up fairly well. The pool areas are generally good although beds were at a premium and although there is a request not to reserve beds everyone did so we had to as well or miss out. The surfaces around the pools are slippery and the entrance steps on the pool with the bridge were lethal, I slipped in jarring my arm and shoulder, could've been much worse and is an accident waiting to happen. There was a drinks service around the pool and on the beach with fresh fruit in the morning and ice lollies. Have to agree with others though in saying it was not cleared up often with lolly wrappers left and glasses left around the pool although that's probably more to do with people not bothering to clear up after themselves then any fault of the staff. Mostly all of the staff were really friendly and helpful with just a couple of exceptions. Reception staff were great and the gentleman who greeted us on arrival and dealt with our luggage was lovely. Our room was fine, if tired, with some broken tiles on the floor and being on the ground floor right at the end there was no view but we could hear the sea on the other side of the hedge and it was entertaining watching the crabs rushing about. It was well cleaned daily and water bottles provided both in the room and at every bar. The most disappointing thing for us was the food and the restaurants. Breakfast in Chelonia was by far the best meal of the day. The lunch and evening buffets are very samey and uninspiring, often overcooked. You can eat a la carte in Assiago's, the food was fine but the surroundings are not. You can also eat a la carte in the Waterfront restaurant which we did on the first night. Not great. The worst thing though was the Waterfront restaurant during the day! I'm sorry but it really was not up to scratch at all. Soggy pizza with flies all around it. Lukewarm burgers and hotdogs a few salads and the most awful smell which, when I mentioned it to a member of staff, I was told was sewage!!! I'm sorry, really? It was disgusting, mainly around the food area and the smell came up through the cabinet from which the salads were served so when you opened the door, whoof, you got such a smell it was impossible to eat. The whole restaurant felt grubby and unpleasant. The only saving grace was that the little cafe served a few toasties that could be eaten by the pool as well as some ice creams (The actual ice cream parlour was closed) pastries and hot/cold drinks. We were so disappointed with the food that we ate out of the hotel 4 nights out of 8 - an expensive experience. Barbados is a lovely Island and we will happily return but we would not come back to Turtle Beach Resort.
