Stayed here first week of December. Went on a girls trip with my friend. I really enjoyed this resort. The main pool is where we spent most of our time. The daily poolside activities were really fun. Try to be there on a Saturday for the foam party - it's a blast! In addition to those activities, each day there was some type of class or craft making by the pool which was a nice touch. Manuel our bartender at the swim up bar gave us amazing service and was so friendly. I wish I remembered all the name of the entertainment crew but they were all so lively and made every day that much more fun. If you prefer a quieter atmosphere there is other pool options as well. I found all the staff at this hotel to be extremely friendly and proficient at their jobs. They have regular photographers that come around at random and will take photos that you can pick out later for purchase. Great for those that want a few professional looking shots or don't carry a camera. The location is great because you can easily walk to the neighboring sister resort. I thought the rooms were very nice. The pillows were really hard but all we had to do was ask were given new ones. We always had towels and they even came around to our room one evening and offered addition warm towels. The room service is included which was an nice option to have. We had breakfast at the buffet and most other meals at the a la cart's. We never had to make reservations were always accommodated within a reasonable wait time. All the food was really quite good. My favorite was the Italian (try the chicken parmesan and the bruschetta!) and the steak house was also very good. The nightly shows are awesome - especially the fire show and there's a little night club onsite if you want to go dancing after. Honestly, with one week here I felt like we didn't have time to experience everything they had to offer. It's true the beach is not the prettiest but that isn't the resorts fault. And yes, it's hard to get chairs at the pool if you don't go early and save them but that happens at every resort I've been to. I can't say I really have any major complaints. If you're an easy going, laid-back sort of traveller you will love this place. I really enjoyed my experience here and hope to come back again.

My Wife and I just returned from Our 2nd Stay ay PYP, first the beach is awful with not much sand area to sit because of the erosion. The water is very rocky and dirty looking, I guess You can’t blame the resort for nature but it would have been nice to enjoy the beach. We stayed in a platinum deluxe swim out room #5031 for 2 weeks and it was a nice room no mustiness. the room was kept clean and was well stocked by the maid whose name we didn’t get but was a hard working young Lady. Everyone We came in contact with was top notch with their friendliness and service especially the pool waitresses. We ate most meals in the buffet, We would like to praise 2 waiters who took care of us most days, Rubin in the breakfast buffet, and Salatiel in the dinner buffets, these 2 gentlemen are hard working and personable an asset to the resort. Also a shout out to Pasta chef Hector who is also top notch.

Beautiful Place

Checking in was an awkward process. The front desk clerk tried to put us in a room that was the farthest form the beach. It was not what we expected and paid for. After some arm twisting, we were assigned to a room in a newer section of the resort. Our room was spacious and clean. However, it was not comfortable until we argued with the Manager (Ella?) to get some control of the room's air conditioning. (She actually threatened to put us in the first room they tried to assign to us.) The thermostat was not adjustable. Finally, maintenance sent 3 people to try to convince us that the room was cool enough. It was not cool enough for us to be comfortable. Eventually the maintenance people measured the actual temperature in the room and compared it to the thermostat. Then, they allowed us some minimal control of the air conditioning. When we began the enjoy the outdoor areas of the resort, we were pleasantly surprised to find friendly staff and comfortable seating around the pool. The pool water was quite cool, but he air was very warm and we got used to the temperature. A walk down a long wooden bridge, through the "jungle" took us to what was left of a beach. Clearly, the storms had eroded most of the beach. The water was not clear and no one was in it. (Red Flag) The food in the buffet was average for good Caribbean resorts. The restaurants on the property were nice and their food was good. The selection of upper-shelf drinks was excellent. All of the staff members were dressed in appropriate resort uniforms. Aside from the front desk issue, everyone was more than polite and helpful. The area around the resort was populated by large monkeys that would come out and walk around the resort area (without incident). They seemed friendly, but they are wild and we kept a safe distance from them. Other animals, including beautiful birds and racoon sized animals were plentiful. There were signs warning of crocodiles and, we were glad not to see any. We enjoyed our stay, but we would caution travelers to be very specific about where your room will be and with what kind of room you are paying for. There are too many other lovely places to stay in Cancun, so we would probably not stay there again.

Very disappointing

Everything looks good, even glitzy but the experience was very disappointing. In our room, we had mornings where we had only burning hot water in the showers, afternoons where we had only cold water and times where we could actually regulate the temperature of the shower water. The quality of the housekeeping was very variable. The drinks are free but watered down: I never drank so much for so little effect. With a few exceptions, the staff is very friendly and helpful. The food in the restaurants is generally good, even excellent in the Italian restaurant but not very good in the Japanese one.

Very nice but room for improvement

My wife and I spent a week here for vacation and had a great time. The resort itself was clean and the food was great. The bartenders were fantastic and were not motivated by tips, which we really appreciate. The liquor selection was on par with other resorts we’ve visited. (Secrets and Royalton) The resort is separate from but adjoined to a much larger family-friendly resort which we were told we had privileges at if we wanted to make reservations. We didn’t visit any of those bars or restaurants and only used the ones within the adults only section. Resort itself is sub-divided into what we referred to as the quieter, calmer section and the louder, drunker section. Our room was in the louder section, but we always spent our pool time in the calmer section. Both were fine, and we had no issues with noise in our room. Our room was large, clean, and the AC worked really well! The gym was also very nice. Areas that could be improved: We didn’t feel pampered when we arrived. We were greeted after stepping off the bus by the bell hop but then had to wait for 10 minutes to check in, and while waiting in the lobby, we weren’t greeted and a couple jumped in front of us to complain about something. Other resorts have brought out something to drink or at least acknowledged our presence. I asked for a room upgrade, but they said they couldn’t without charging me extra - not a big deal and I understood. No coffee cafe. The coffee was severed at the bars, which by the way was excellent, but you had to either order room service or go to the main buffet and get a table to get a cup of decaf. We would ask for decaf at the end of dinner and we’re always told we had to go the buffet. Breakfast and lunch was only severed in the buffet. There was something - like a snack area in the Rodeo grill from 11-1500 but we never tried that. It would be nice to have a sit down breakfast/lunch. The beach was not good. You could not see it from the resort. You had to take a board walk through the jungle to get to it. I don’t think it’s the resorts fault, because the beach was literally washed away. Seaweed galore. You could walk barefoot, but I found plenty of rocks and sticks. So we didn’t spend any time there.
