There are far too many employees on site trying to sell vacation and excursions. They were very pushy and wouldn’t take no for an answer. This is the main deterrent for not returning to this resort.

The rooms were very musty smelling again this year. Our air cond leaked water and was never fixed. The beds at TRS were very hard and uncomfortable. Our butler Ramon was excellent however and he did everything he could to make our stay effortless.

We had a great time at TRS Turquesa! The staff was wonderful and there was so much to do! We loved that we had our own adults only section, but could visit the rest of the resorts too. We'd love to travel here again soon!

Staff make this place... always on hand to help. Beach is beautiful rooms are nice. They do need drawers, not enough places for clothing. Special mention to, Delores, Lionel Richie, Domingo, Jorge, King Kong, Warnest regards, for the special attention from our butler team and hard working pool man. Congratulations on your recent wedding.

We maid our butler aware of the jets not working well in the Jacuzzi tub and that our sliding glass door to the patio was really hard to open and close, in which neither problem was addressed. The beach and ocean were full of seaweed, definitely not as nice as my last visit.

honeymoon excelente with infinite indulgence

We have visited TRS Turquesa this year in February, and it was an awesome experience for us, or "experiencia excelente" if i would say it in the local language. Our room was at the second floor, with an exquisite view over the pool but also the Atlantic Ocean as well; it also had a balcony which was the place to drink our coffee in every morning! The staff is the actual jewel in this crown: everybody was very friendly, asking constantly on how to help us. The also offered us some surprises: they have decorated our room one evening with red baloons and prepared the jacuzzi for a hot romantic bath - knowing that we are there in our honeymoon. In other occasion, the waiters from one restaurant gave us a cake and sang "Happy Anniversary" to us, because our butler told them about that. And the food, oh my god, it was amazing - in all of their restaurants.

TRS Turquesa -- Facilities and Activities

This is one of several reviews I am writing -- facilities and activities, restaurants, staff, timeshare con job. This one focuses on the facilities. Overall, this resort had the most impressive facilities of the various all inclusive resorts we have stayed at over the years. It was hard to figure this out from the various web sites, but the TRS (The Royal Suites) Turquesa is one of 4 side by side Palladium all inclusive resorts on a very nice 1 km (0.6 mile) stretch of beach in Punta Cana. Guests at the TRS Turquesa can use the facilities and restaurants at all 4 hotels, but the other hotel guests cannot come to the TRS Turquesa, which is adults only. The other 3 hotels as you head north on the beach from the TRS Turquesa are the Grand Palladium Palace, the Grand Palladium Punta Cana and the Grand Palladium Bavaro. All 3 are larger than the TRS Turquesa and are impressive individually and even more impressive collectively. Across all 4 hotels, there are 13 a la carte restaurants of various cuisines and 4 large buffet restaurants. I submitted a separate review on the restaurants. Overall, we enjoyed going to a separate a la carte restaurant each night, which was perfect for our 2 week stay. For an all inclusive resort, I thought the food was excellent, with some nights better than others. The TRS Turquesa has 2 super large pools, one close to the beach and 1 set back farther. Each had a swim up bar and a regular bar. There were various pool activities (water aerobics, water spin class, etc) that had reasonable participation. One day each week they hold a "foam party" in one of the pools, with a giant foam gun spraying foam up to 4' deep in a portion of the pool. It makes for a very fun party. The other 3 hotels also each have 2 large pools, a couple even larger than the TRS Turquesa. This allows flexibility to try the different pools. I like doing lap swimming, and was able to find good places at the various pools to do laps of 25-45m. Each of the 4 hotel lobbies had live music entertainment each night. There is a casino at the Grand Palladium Palace and a sports bar and a large performance venue with shows every night at the Grand Palladium Bavaro. There was an outdoor sports area shared by all 4 hotels with 2 basketball courts, a soccer field, 6 tennis courts, a sand volleyball court and a minigolf course. All we're not in great shape, but usable. They we're sending in use, though, and there was no effort to organize any times for people to show up. The Grand Palladium Punta Cana and the Grand Palladium Bavaro each had volleyball setups on the beach and we're often in use. I brought a frisbee and used it on the beach, though it was typically pretty windy, which can make it challenging. The beach is very nice, but not super wide. The water is nice and there is a protected swimming area down the full length of the beach, separated with buoys from where boats pass by. There was very little seaweed at the TRS Turquesa but more at the other 3 hotels. There was a short storm one day, causing a lot of seaweed to wash up on the beach at the other 3 hotels, but this was cleaned up within a day. My wife and I stayed a total of 2 weeks and we thoroughly enjoyed our time. Having full access to all the facilities was a big plus and we enjoyed the long stretch if beach spanning the 4 hotels. We expect to come back again, which we have never done with any other places we have stayed.

excellent resort with a few caveats

Stayed at the resort the last week of January. It was wonderful. Most of the food was amazing. Bamboo was the only one we didn't like, food there not very flavorful. Otherwise the rest was great. was really surprised to find different options as each of the buffets. The room was very nice and comfy, but there were a few signs of wear and tare. All of the staff made you feel welcome, the entertainment staff maybe a little too much. Was kind of weird how they would come over to you to ask if you want to do the activity, talk to you a little bit, and then sit by you on their phone. a couple of things we didn't like. First if they are going to post rules they should enforce them. Signs by the pool state that there is no reserving chairs and that there is no smoking in pool area. People were smoking all over the place and they even had ashtrays out for them. Saw a verbal fight break out one day over saved chairs. Some people came in and sat in some chairs. they were there over 2 hours when other people came in and said that they stole their chairs. "we put our stuff down and then went to the beach" They were gone over 2 hours and still thought they could keep those chairs. The resort needs to put timers on the chairs. When you leave the chair set the timer if it runs out before you get back the staff can remove your stuff and free it up for someone else. The last thing that disappointed me was the "free" non motorized water sports. The sailboats and windsurfing is supposed to be free, and it is, after you pay them $45-$100 for lessons. After the lessons then you can go all you want for free. I have at least 20 years of sailing and windsurfing experience, yet they still wouldn't let me go without paying for the lessons and wasting my time attending the lesson. Somehow other people must have gotten out without the lessons as they obviously didn't know how to sail .

Experience is improving with each visit

We stayed at Grand Palladium/TRS Turquesa section from Feb 9-Feb 16th, 2019. We have been to this Grand Palladium three other times in the past seven years. We are members of the Palladium Travel Club. (I will discuss that more towards the end of the review.) In the past we have come with family/kids and this time just with another couple. We just retired, so we had almost any time or place to choose from, but this was a good time for this location. Temps were around 85 degrees Fahrenheit every day. A few days we had rain, which lasted for five minutes or less. One night it rained more but not sure how long. The resort is large and well utilized. Things don't seem crowded and they have spread things out throughout the resort well to prevent congestion. There are many pools all over, with a higher number in the more expensive sections. Our room was above a swim-up room. There were four swim-up pools in our section and they were very quiet and used sparsely. I would say the water could definitely have been warmer in the pool, but it was still good. Also, restaurants are spread throughout the resort so it isn't too far to get to one. The beach is very nice. It is a soft sand and a lot of it. There is a lot of frontage for the ocean so no reason not to be able to find some lounge chairs to sit in. We had a couple exclusive areas to sit in so we never had any problem at all, which has been an issue at some resorts. The bars, again, are everywhere throughout the resort. Every pool has a bar plus the lobbies, sports club, theater, restaurants and some others here and there. Because it is all-inclusive, they will make drinks how you want them. If you want them strong they will have no problem doing that if you ask. The service was also very good at the bars. It obviously was better with fewer people, but everywhere we went they had waiters and waitresses asking if we needed anything. The food was also better this time than in the past. The quality has always been good but the preparation or maintenance of the food was lacking in the past. Maybe it sat around too long, or the temperature was too high and overcooked or dried out the food. We didn't eat in the buffets very often but had some good selections there when we did. There were definitely things that still didn't look great but we didn't take those. We ate in the A-la-carte restaurants most of the time, breakfast, lunch and dinner. We didn't have a bad experience with food at any of those. Orders sometimes got messed up because of language issues, but the food was consistently very good or excellent. We went to five specialty restaurants and ate at the TRS restaurants the other times and for the first time at an all-inclusive, consistently had excellent meals. The service at the Helios beach restaurant had a lot to be desired, and the breakfasts there were not very good. On the other hand, that was our favorite bar at night. For activities, I play a lot of tennis. The courts here need to be resurfaced pretty bad. Juan and Edwin are usually available for lessons though and they are fantastic! Both are very good players and are friendly and eager to play. They have racquets and balls available if you don't bring your own. They also have paddle tennis, soccer, basketball, mini golf, table tennis (ping pong), volleyball and bocci available. For entertainment, they have a show daily, usually at the theater. We have been to them before with the activities people who organize the pool volleyball, yoga, ping pong tournaments, pool biking, etc. do the shows at night. They are usually pretty entertaining. If you are expecting Broadway type shows you will be disappointed, but keeping in mind these young people work about 14 hours per day, they are very good. We saw a couple other shows put on by outside groups that we didn't think were all that great. One was Michael Jackson show and the other a trapeze-type show. We left both of those after a little while. Others seemed to enjoy them OK though. There are some things they could do better here, but nothing major. The rooms were not ready for us when we arrived. Our plane was supposed to arrive at 12 and didn't get in until after 1PM. We got to the resort around 2:30 and couldn't get into our rooms until almost 5. They hold your luggage and allow you to go eat and do what you want, but after waking at 1AM to get on the airplane and getting to the resort 13.5 hours later, I was ready to get into the room, get changed and start enjoying the day. On the other hand, we asked for a late checkout when we left and they didn't charge us extra, so we made up the 2.5 hours on the end which was good. Another thing is ordering in some of the restaurants. It was our first time at a Spanish restaurant and apparently they do things more family-style there? We understood that we were supposed to order four items and ended up with a table filled with food. I think since there were four of us we were maybe supposed to each order one thing and then share among ourselves? Some of the restaurants had all the appetizers on a buffet table, some you had to order and it was never clear and not speaking Spanish, it was sometimes difficult to find out. Just noting in the menu which items needed to be ordered would clarify things and avoid confusion. As travel club members, and staying at Turquesa section, we had access to the carts to haul us around. This was the best service we have received for that. It seemed there were more carts this time than in the past. With the size of the resort it is nice sometimes to get on a cart to get somewhere if we were late or just tired. Overall we really enjoyed this stay. Usually after a week I am ready to go back home. This time I would have had no trouble staying for another week. As I mentioned, I am a Palladium Travel Club member and have been for eight years. We use ours a couple times per year or more. It provides priority booking, they have discounted pricing occasionally, they take care of the booking of the room via phone or email. Once reservations are made, they have you fill out a travel form with your flight info and arrange travel to and from the resort which is always a private carrier so no stopping at other resorts on the way. They give you a free excursion or massage in the spa. You have access to members-only areas of the resort with a private beach club, areas in the spa, and concierge to help with things throughout the week. You also have access to all of the carts on the property. You get a discount at the spa as well. It allows you to travel more as "first class" and still get the cheapest room in the hotel if you want to do that. We prefer the "Royal" or TRS section, typically, but it is adults only so if we have kids along that is not an option. You don't give up all the other benefits though, and can still use all the restaurants, carts, etc. They will try to sell you a membership if you come to this (or any) Grand Palladium. I won't say it's not worth it to get one. Just make sure you get, in writing, everything they tell you. If they tell you that they are locking in the pricing for something, get it in writing in the contract. If they tell you since you are here on a discount now you will get that discount every time, get that in writing in the contract. It won't be there. Many of the salespeople may tell you anything they can to get you to sign. The travel club should just stand on it's own and be worth it or not. They shouldn't have to make up things to get you to buy it. Also, it takes a lot of time and they will put a lot of pressure on you. They will tell you this is only a one time offer. We have had one time offers every time we have talked to them. If you decline, they want you to sign something stating you are declining. You don't have to sign anything to decline and if they ask you to do so, I would recommend just getting up and leaving. If you are accepting the contract, yes you need to sign. Otherwise no reason to sign anything. Is the travel club worth it? That is really up to you and how you travel, but as I said it should stand on its own. Don't think the extra perks they add on like World-Pass are worth anything at all. They showed me the price for a hotel when I was there through World-Pass and it looked very good. I got back to my room and pulled it up and the price was double. Not sure what is going on there but after contacting World-Pass they said there is only one price, not different levels, not anything that is different from one account to another, yet the same hotel for the same dates with the same number of people was under $1500 on their computer, and over $3000 when I checked from mine with my computer logged on with the credentials they assigned. Again, plan on only the benefits of the travel club for the value of what you are paying. It may or may not be worth it to you. In the end, I would give this resort four stars overall for everything. Good service, good food at the A-la-Carte restaurants, comfortable place to spend a week or more. Definitely not at the five star level across the board, but some things are pretty close.

Awesome!!

TRS Turquesa was awesome. The grounds are immaculate. Being in an adult only resort is a big plus. Our room was close to the lobby, the pool and the beach. We had a swim up room which I highly recommend! If you're not feeling up to going to the beach or the pool, walk out into your own little pool. They have wait staff that will bring drinks to you as well while the bar is open. Or just to put your feet in the water while you sit on your deck. You won't be disappointed. There are carts that will come around and give you a ride to wherever you want to go. The beach is beautiful. You'll want to go down to the beach by at least mid morning to pick out your chairs as it fills up pretty quickly. Didn't spend a lot of time at the pools as we went there to be by the ocean. However, the foam pool parties they have on Tuesday's and Friday's are a lot of fun! Ramon was our butler and he was awesome!! Downloaded an app to my phone and messaged him with every little request we had and he responded right away. Not every resort offers butler service so if you find one that offers it, go for it. Ramon made our stay even more relaxing since we didn't have to deal with reservations or anything else that takes away from enjoying your time there. We weren't really impressed with the restaurants representing different cuisines but that might not be a problem with their food necessarily. could be we just don't have an acquired taste for it. There are locations you can go for good old American food if you want. On our last night we ate at Helio's. Steak and lobster were delicious!! Entertainment somewhere every night and it all sounded really good. Helio's even had someone playing music during breakfast and lunch. Overall, a great, relaxing vacation we will never forget. Thank you to all the staff that were so friendly and accommodating. Highly recommend this resort!!
