Long considered one of the most remarkable resorts in Hawaii, Travaasa Hana (formerly known as Hotel Hana Maui) is now even better. Located in the town of Hana on the eastern tip of Maui, Travaasa Hana is the first resort on the island to greet the rising sun. Set amid rolling grass fields and palm trees above Kaihalulu Bay, Travaasa Hana will immerse you in the real Hawaii.

Geographically, Hana is bookended by spectacular tropical wilderness. To the north and west lies the serpentine Hana Highway (also known as the Road to Hana), where each bend of the journey reveals ravines draped in waterfalls and lush rainforest. To the south and west, the road continues and delivers travelers to the outskirts of Haleakala National Park, where Ohe'o Gulch tumbles to the ocean in a series of magnificent cascades and swimmable pools.

The town of Hana feels like it is a world away from the rest of Maui. So it is only appropriate that these accommodations envelop you in a similar state of mind. Whether you are staying in one of the luxurious bungalows or checking into a spacious suite, you will find the peace and quiet you deserve. Rooms are free of radios, clocks and TVs, so you can fully embrace the low-key vibe of Heavenly Hana.

Experience the heart of Hawaii through diverse course offerings called 'Travaasas.' There are five different pathways for you to explore: Adventure, Culinary, Culture, Fitness, and Spa & Wellness. You won't have any trouble finding something unique. Travaasa is all about experience, even when it comes to dining. From our open-faced Smoked Chicken Salad Sandwich on homemade bread with locally grown sprout salad, to fish wrapped in Ti leaves and Lilikoi Mahi with Hawaiian sweet potato and ginger lime coconut sauce, every meal you enjoy is a reminder that life is for living.

The Spa at Travaasa Hana was voted the 'No. 1 Resort Spa in Hawaii' in Conde Nast Traveler's 2012 Reader's Choice Awards. A deeply relaxing sanctuary of peace and tranquility, a visit to the Spa at Travaasa Hana is sure to restore feelings of balance and wellness to your body, mind, and spirit.

Picturesque views of spectacular waterfalls, a beautifully rugged shoreline, and some of the best beaches on Maui can only begin to describe what awaits you in Hana. The charm of this peaceful town is the fact that little has changed over the last 20 years. It is truly the last undeveloped tropical paradise on Maui.

Property is spectacular after the long drive to Hana. The relaxed vibe is special and the pool and wellness center have views for miles. Restaurant is very good, food met expectations and staff was very attentive. Would only attempt the road to Hana again with a night over at Travaasa. Only way to do it.

Can stay here forever !

Hana is an absolutely gorgeous area and Travaasa is a really lovely place to stay with lovely and friendly staff . The oceanfront rooms are wonderful and you can sleep with the sound of the ocean and waves crashing nearby which is just refreshing and incredibly relaxing . The service was incredibly friendly and welcoming . It is very expensive but we enjoyed every minute of our time there . Only thing I would comment on is the interior design of the rooms : the bed is located just near the entrance and I would probably have preferred it to be near the balcony and have the kitchen near the entrance instead so that you can see the views and have the bed facing the ocean rather than facing the front door and bathroom . The food (we had dinner) at the preserve kitchen was ok but not great . The cacao plantation tour was fun but probably overpriced ... all in all I would recommend Travaasa for their lovely views, rooms and amazingly friendly service

Beautiful hotel in the middle of Hana

The hotel grounds are beautiful and the rooms are huge and comfortable. Great beaches are just a short drive away. We enjoyed the warmed pool and hot tub, which overlooks the ocean. Would likely stay here again.

Spectacular location and great amenities!

My wife and I and our youngest daughter were enjoying our 25th wedding anniversary by spending a week on Kauai. We decided to make a quick 3 day visit to Maui because we wanted to take the "Road to Hana" (highly recommended). We booked one night at the Travaasa and enjoyed it so much. If you are going to stay at the Travaasa, stay at least a week, we did not want to leave but had to given our schedule. The location (Hana) is amazing, amenities are excellent, the restaurants on the premises are very good and the live Hawaiian entetrainment was wonderful.

We didn't stay here at this beautiful place, but we did go to dinner in the restaurant and had a lovely meal and sat there enjoying the view from our window table. Recommend the food! We came back the next night to listen to the live, local entertainment in the bar. And also enjoyed that experience.
