Didn't Get the Room We Reserved

We booked a King Deluxe Ocean View Balcony. We got 2 Queen beds instead. The staff explained ..."Oh yeah, when you book with Apple, there are no guaranties." The hotel is a tired old property. Thankfully they are currently renovating. The renovation will continue through December 2017. The food is ok, but VERY overpriced, twice what we would pay in the USA for comparable quality. Drinks too. The staff was super friendly. The beach is gorgeous! We will go back to the Omni Cancun next time, and we won't book with Apple since rooms are not guaranteed.

The Westin Hotel & Spa was fantastic. The grounds were sparkling clean, the staff all spoke English and seemed to be very happy from the cleaning staff to the restaurant servers. Very friendly always saying hello or good morning. We loved the atmosphere and the beach was absolutely stunning! It was rare that we couldn't find chairs to layout on and while the hotel was fully booked it didn't seem over crowded. The rooms were well appointed and clean and honestly even more than that, the bed and pillows were super comfortable! We definitely recommend this hotel especially if you don't want a party environment. We went during spring break but had no issues whatsoever. There were no roudy guests or issues whatsoever.

Very nice hotel. I felt that the price we paid was commensurate with the hotel we were getting. Overall great value for our dollar. Extremely friendly staff and always remembered your name and where you were visiting from. They made me feel like we were staying in a five-star resort. Hotel itself was obviously older but was obviously being maintained to its maximum. You could tell they were spending money on making the hotel count where it needed it.

When goingto theWestin Spa & Resort Cancun, always selectto stay in the Royal Beach Club. You will enjoy a lovely breakfast (included) which had a respectable variety of hot selections, fresh smoothies, and a beach view. Terrific service. Likewise, you'll enjoy a private 3-hour happy hour nightly. Another perk of the Beach Club? Your giant balcony with lounge chairs - and all ocean views. These are not perks that the guests in the main building enjoy. The pools at the beach club and the main hotelwere pristine, modern, and afforded us MORE ocean views. The beacheswere clean, andwe waded out into the ocean on clean sand and in crystal clear water. More like swimming in a pool than in an ocean. This beach is probably among the best in Cancun. Note: Do not cometo this resort if you want an all-inclusive with lots of food choices. Do not come if you wantpre-planned activities, nightly entertainment, and a party atmosphere. This is a quiet, sophisticated resort. Our room had beautiful, modern furnishings and a comfy bed with crisp, white linens and duvets. Our view was fabulous, and the beach-side service was perfect. Thank you,Westin!

The Westin Resort & Spa Cancun I have attached above the apple rating for the Westin Resort & Spa where we stayed for the 1 night. I have also attached what apple defines as a golden apple. I have stayed at several Cancun properties and just cannot believe that this Westin is considered a 5 golden apple. On Saturday afternoon at 3pm I went down to meet with the apple rep as that was the time slot that was given to me. Prior to that I called the Apple customer service number in America. I explained the situation stating we were very disappointed in this property and wanted to be relocated immediately. She said that the best way to go about moving is to touch base with the local Apple rep. In speaking with the local Apple Rep Gustavo, I again explained our disappoint with this property and told him that in no way was this a 5 golden apple. He told me that he would call me in an hour with hotel options. Well, about an hour and half past and we had no return call. I then called the local customer service number and they connected me to Gustavo. Apparently he had tried to call us but the PHONE in the room did not work………. He then gave me pricing that we would have to pay to be moved to the Riu hotel. We said no problem and that we would like to move first thing in the morning. He said that he would have to confirm with the RIu in the morning and that we should meet him in the lobby at 8am. We were in the Westin lobby at 8am but there was no Gustavo. Again I called the local Apple customer service number and they put me in touch with him. He then told me that all of the Riu hotels in Cancun and Playa del Carmen were sold out….. We booked a standard ocean view room, based on the room description on the apple website it shows that balcony or terrace is included. When we reached our room we had neither, the bellman said that if we wanted a balcony we would have to pay for an upgrade. The information they are listing below is misleading and false. Before we checked out the next morning I made them adjust the up-charge for the balcony room.

Great cozy beds and amazing staff. I had a small accident and asked the concierge if he could get antiseptic so I could clean my injury. I felt like it was asking a lot do I backed out and Went back to the pool. Within 5 minutes there was a staff member at my beck. If you're looking to get away and have the comfort of home on the beach. Without all the hype and price of high end resorts. Choose the Westin. 5*

We loved the close proximity of the ocean to the hotel and we loved the pools on the lagoon side and on the ocean side. The ocean side had a warm bubbly pool with seats all around which is not deep and our little grandchildren loved it. When the sun was obscured by the building we all went over to the lagoon side and stayed outside enjoying the beauty of the fading day in the 3 pools.

Check in was smooth and easy and in went down hill from there. Food Service was exceptionally slow and they got nearly every order wrong. Wait staff needs additional training. Food was so below average that none of us finished a meal here. Rooms were old but our view was spectacular. The topper was the exchange rate at this hotel of 15/1 when we were regularly seeing 18-20/1. The exchange rate was a complete ripoff! We only stayed one night.

Very good family hotel, with some expensive options-wonderful staff!

We did not do the all-inclusive option because we wanted to spend lots of time on the town. The pool is wonderful and our room had a great ocean view and balcony. They rewarded us $5 resort credit per night we opted-out of full housekeeping. The only bad is that attractions like Wave-Rider and spa treatments are rather expensive, as are the two restaurants ($50 US or $1,000 MXN) for family of 4 eating burgers and tacos with drinks. Also, it's at the far end of the hotel zone so nothing but one OXXO market is within walking distance (buses are super-cheap though (12p per person one-way)). The worst part of our stay ended up paying off-the door lock to our room broke and we were locked out for an hour. While they fixed it, the manager on duty comped us drinks and when they were done fixing it, she also gave our family free breakfast buffet the next morning (about $300 MXN or $15 US per person). Everyone was super-friendly and spoke English willingly as well as putting up with my bad attempts at using Spanish. There was a time-share pitch but it's easy to avoid. We took it and it only took 100 minutes. In return, we got family passes to Xcaret (with lunch and transport) for only about $250 (it's usually over $500) plus 20% off at both resort restaurants (which you will need!).

Amazing view, delicious breakfast, and nice bathroom (we spent a good amount of time there)

Pros: - View from the room: The room itself was quite nice (especially with the "new" rooms with balance". - Clean beach (They clean the beach of seaweed every morning it seems. I also watched them actively clean the pool next to the beach). - Nice staff (Everyone here from the front desk, cleaning, management, servers, etc. is always smiling and making sure you are being taken care of). I am not sure why some reviews say the people are pushy, I did not have that experience at all. Even with the sales people I was walking around with my fiance and no one bothered us. - Very nice breakfast: Really exceptional breakfast with many fresh juice blend options. We really enjoyed having such a nice breakfast next to the ocean. - Honest & Helpful staff: The manager Fridel really went above & beyond to make sure we had a pleasant stay after our bathroom mishap. She even decorated our room since she knew it was our anniversary. I also really appreciated the concierge Ximena she was extremely helpful and gave honest advice. I have been to Cancun a few times now and have learned more of the tricks and I could tell the advice she was giving was definitely in our best interest and not in a way that would rip us off. Another thing that stood out was we accidentally left a moderately expensive item in the room and were unable to contact the hotel for five days. When I returned they promptly had the item returned for me & that was such a relief! Cons: - The food after 2am was pretty bland. After getting ree from the bathroom my fiance & I wee both quite hungry & tired the hotel nicely offered us free room service, but sadly the food was disappointing. The worse thing is that we ordered Mexican food and it seemed to be tailored for a North American Palette (I am from the US). I would also like to add that the late night room service while not worth ordering, the breakfast in the morning was phenomenal :) - Yes, there is construction going on, but that did not bother us other than getting trapped in the bathroom. I think the only way it slightly bothered me was when I was taking a picture of the view of the hotels and ocean you the building being worked on is in the shot - really was not a big deal. - Something that did really irritate me was when were stuck in the bathroom for over an hour we were yelling for help and hitting the walls to make noise. Once I managed to free us I put on some clothes and went out of the room to where I saw one of the staff members about 15 feet from our room leisurely texting on their phone! I had my fiance test if we could hear the call for help & noises from that point in the hall and it was very clear. That really is frustrating that someone could have helped us when we needed it. I do confidently believe the hotel is handling this situation. Overall: a great stay except for the first night with the uncommon incident. This will be a really excellent place to stay once the renovations are complete!

I asked the night before if we had free breakfast or if it was included I was told we had free breakfast. Morning of I was charged. When asking why? They said i had to do a 90min promo session. Brought lots of cash thinking no one used cards turns out the hotel only takes card. What an inconvenience!

Great Hotel with clean atmosphere! Hotel staff are very accommodating & cordial. Our trip encountered no set backs or disappointment. We were surprised with a champagne bottle and bed decor for our 22nd year Anniversary. Our room appearance was a bit dated, however, everything was VERY CLEAN including beds, floors and bathroom on a daily basis & the view was spectacular!. The hotel is undergoing renovation which I'm sure will only improve the appearance in the future. Breakfast was good and food from the Sunset Bar and Beach Grill was excellent. Our personal concierge - Matthew Peat was very helpful and provided plenty of suggestions and information. We will certainly consider this hotel for future stays.
