Didn't Get the Room We Reserved
MARC M.

We booked a King Deluxe Ocean View Balcony. We got 2 Queen beds instead. The staff explained ..."Oh yeah, when you book with Apple, there are no guaranties." The hotel is a tired old property. Thankfully they are currently renovating. The renovation will continue through December 2017. The food is ok, but VERY overpriced, twice what we would pay in the USA for comparable quality. Drinks too. The staff was super friendly. The beach is gorgeous! We will go back to the Omni Cancun next time, and we won't book with Apple since rooms are not guaranteed.

The Westin Hotel & Spa was fantastic. The grounds were sparkling clean, the staff all spoke English and seemed to be very happy from the cleaning staff to the restaurant servers. Very friendly always saying hello or good morning. We loved the atmosphere and the beach was absolutely stunning! It was rare that we couldn't find chairs to layout on and while the hotel was fully booked it didn't seem over crowded. The rooms were well appointed and clean and honestly even more than that, the bed and pillows were super comfortable! We definitely recommend this hotel especially if you don't want a party environment. We went during spring break but had no issues whatsoever. There were no roudy guests or issues whatsoever.

Very nice hotel. I felt that the price we paid was commensurate with the hotel we were getting. Overall great value for our dollar. Extremely friendly staff and always remembered your name and where you were visiting from. They made me feel like we were staying in a five-star resort. Hotel itself was obviously older but was obviously being maintained to its maximum. You could tell they were spending money on making the hotel count where it needed it.

When goingto theWestin Spa & Resort Cancun, always selectto stay in the Royal Beach Club. You will enjoy a lovely breakfast (included) which had a respectable variety of hot selections, fresh smoothies, and a beach view. Terrific service. Likewise, you'll enjoy a private 3-hour happy hour nightly. Another perk of the Beach Club? Your giant balcony with lounge chairs - and all ocean views. These are not perks that the guests in the main building enjoy. The pools at the beach club and the main hotelwere pristine, modern, and afforded us MORE ocean views. The beacheswere clean, andwe waded out into the ocean on clean sand and in crystal clear water. More like swimming in a pool than in an ocean. This beach is probably among the best in Cancun. Note: Do not cometo this resort if you want an all-inclusive with lots of food choices. Do not come if you wantpre-planned activities, nightly entertainment, and a party atmosphere. This is a quiet, sophisticated resort. Our room had beautiful, modern furnishings and a comfy bed with crisp, white linens and duvets. Our view was fabulous, and the beach-side service was perfect. Thank you,Westin!

The Westin Resort & Spa Cancun I have attached above the apple rating for the Westin Resort & Spa where we stayed for the 1 night. I have also attached what apple defines as a golden apple. I have stayed at several Cancun properties and just cannot believe that this Westin is considered a 5 golden apple. On Saturday afternoon at 3pm I went down to meet with the apple rep as that was the time slot that was given to me. Prior to that I called the Apple customer service number in America. I explained the situation stating we were very disappointed in this property and wanted to be relocated immediately. She said that the best way to go about moving is to touch base with the local Apple rep. In speaking with the local Apple Rep Gustavo, I again explained our disappoint with this property and told him that in no way was this a 5 golden apple. He told me that he would call me in an hour with hotel options. Well, about an hour and half past and we had no return call. I then called the local customer service number and they connected me to Gustavo. Apparently he had tried to call us but the PHONE in the room did not work………. He then gave me pricing that we would have to pay to be moved to the Riu hotel. We said no problem and that we would like to move first thing in the morning. He said that he would have to confirm with the RIu in the morning and that we should meet him in the lobby at 8am. We were in the Westin lobby at 8am but there was no Gustavo. Again I called the local Apple customer service number and they put me in touch with him. He then told me that all of the Riu hotels in Cancun and Playa del Carmen were sold out….. We booked a standard ocean view room, based on the room description on the apple website it shows that balcony or terrace is included. When we reached our room we had neither, the bellman said that if we wanted a balcony we would have to pay for an upgrade. The information they are listing below is misleading and false. Before we checked out the next morning I made them adjust the up-charge for the balcony room.

Great cozy beds and amazing staff. I had a small accident and asked the concierge if he could get antiseptic so I could clean my injury. I felt like it was asking a lot do I backed out and Went back to the pool. Within 5 minutes there was a staff member at my beck. If you're looking to get away and have the comfort of home on the beach. Without all the hype and price of high end resorts. Choose the Westin. 5*

We loved the close proximity of the ocean to the hotel and we loved the pools on the lagoon side and on the ocean side. The ocean side had a warm bubbly pool with seats all around which is not deep and our little grandchildren loved it. When the sun was obscured by the building we all went over to the lagoon side and stayed outside enjoying the beauty of the fading day in the 3 pools.

Yoga class with Ivan

My overall hotel experience was great. However, my experience with Ivan’s yoga class was very uncomfortable. He helped everyone with poses, but touched me way too much. He played with my feet, pet them, and also pet my hands. As well as, putting his fingers on my lips when trying to “relax my face”. I felt very uncomfortable, but didn’t think I could say anything because I thought he did it to everyone else. My friends were with me in the class and they said he didn’t touch them like that. Also, he was a little aggressive when telling us what to do. If I didn’t follow the first time, he would say it louder and stare at me until I followed his instruction. I didn’t feel comfortable or safe.

we were just checked into our room at this amazing resort by Emilio who made us feel so very welcome. Caesar brought our bags up to our room and showed us all the room features, where to catch the bus (not that I think we are going to leave this wonderful area for awhile). We have room 2502 with an amazing ocean view. Since we booked the Club room we were surprised to get a fantastic happy hour buffet with drinks every evening. (I knew it included breakfast but didn't realize that they would put out a spread which made it unnecessary to venture out for dinner.). We enjoyed the buffet until 6 and made it up to our room in time to experience the sunset. So happy we chose this place. Feeling very happy right now sitting on the balcony :). I have been to Cancun many times and I have never had such a great room or great service.....and it's only just beginning.

We are currently on a short stay at the Westin. We were quite impressed overall. Check in was quick through the platinum line. Our room was available early, (3ish). We were thanked for our loyalty. Our building Two fifth floor ocean view room was gorgeous, clean, spacious with a large balcony. The bed was comfortable and the room was quiet and made for a great night sleep. Happy hour in the Westin Club was wonderful. We loved their Sauvignon Blanc wine... we are wine snobs. Vincente and the staff took great care of us. They made sure our glasses were never empty. Comp snacks included meat, cheese, chips, etc. & pico de gallo with a kick. There are some renos happening but we were not affected. Property is close to airport. The manager went above and beyond to celebrate our anniversary and make this day special. You couldn't ask for a better staff. Everyone was warm, friendly and eager to please.

First about the hotel and our stay, then about the promo. We had a 4-night / 5-day stay. The hotel is undergoing renovations - to parts of the property and the rooms. We stayed on the club / resort side, which afforded us with free breakfast each morning and free happy hour drinks. It also meant we had one more pool and more options for beach chairs. Our room was ok. A bit musty. In fact it was even damp. Nothing dried out there though we had air conditioning- all our clothes came back damp and musty smelling. We washed & dried everything upon return home. The room had a tile floor as expected for this climate, sliding doors to a covered balcony porch with 2 chairs and a table. We had an ocean view- but overlooked the palm trees and patio, pool & hot tub below. Our view gave us the sunrise. We loved that. Robes, coffee maker & hair dryer all in the room. Separate shower & tub. Plentiful towels. Flat screen TV in the room. The room had two beds - not queen sized but doubles. My boyfriend and I did sleep in the same bed, but it was tight! The hotel called this a queen, but it was definitely not! Bedding fine. The paint on the ceiling of the balcony porch was peeling and some fell right into my coffee one morning. Yuck. Free water each day in the room. The wait staff in the breakfast/ happy hour room were all so nice! We appreciated their great service. No real interaction with the room / maid service staff. There was no competition for beach chairs and umbrellas in the morning and we enjoyed hanging out on the beach one morning. The beach was nice, and maintained by the hotel & the water was clear & warm. We heard we just missed the time of year when there’s a lot of seaweed in the water and on the beach. Main pool had a swim-up bar, and we enjoyed a couple of drinks here during our stay. The food at the various restaurants here is fresh & good. The servings are quite large. (Too large in fact). The guacamole appetizer is enough for 4 people! Main courses also large. No gift shop on premises so we had to go across the driveway for this. There’s one ATM dispensing pesos and one dispensing US dollars just off the lobby in the main hotel. The hotel is not far in on the hotel peninsula here, which means it’s closer to the airport than most other hotels. There’s a bus stop down the driveway and across the street from the hotel. We used the bus several times and had a couple of crazy rides, but this was a fast and convenient way to see the rest of the peninsula, go shopping, etc. Also there are a couple of convenience stores just down the road and we walked to one our first day to get water and sun block. This hotel is clearly an older one compared to others including its sister property further in on the peninsula. However, our stay was enjoyable and we agreed with each other that one more night and day would have been ideal. An extra day at the beach would have been great! Because we took advantage of a time share promotional deal, we were given the choice to take the 90 minute “seminar” and get lots of money off excursions as well as $100 credit on our bill, or lots of hotel points, or not to take the “seminar” and forgo these perks. We went for the “seminar” and took the discounts and $100 credit. We booked our “seminar” for our last morning there, which afforded us time for two full days of activities / excursions. Now, I say “seminar” as that was the word used, but it was a one-on-one sales pitch. In the end, we were able to decline, with no repercussions except our loss of that 90 minutes. Message me / send questions if you’d like more details. Overall this hotel was fine, and we thought the location was nice, even though it was not as close to the “action” - fine by us!!! It’s not a glamorous hotel by any means. If you are looking for an affordable stay in Cancun and don’t need to be in the middle of it all this is a good choice. Try to see the iguanas on the walkway between the resort and larger hotel. I’m sure the renovations will ensure the hotel remains a nice choice. If you decide to go for this, enjoy your stay!

I am 49 years old and joined Ivan´s Yoga class at the Westin in Cancun - my first yoga classes ever. Ivan is professional, empathetic, friendly and gentle. He asked for lesions (I have a bad knee from playing soccer) and told me to tell him if certain exercises bothered me to do something else. With every class I felt better - also my knee. Ivan told me, Yoga was a life style, it was so inspiring, that I will start Yoga sessions now in Germany. Gracias, Ivan! Tim
