We booked a King Deluxe Ocean View Balcony. We got 2 Queen beds instead. The staff explained ..."Oh yeah, when you book with Apple, there are no guaranties." The hotel is a tired old property. Thankfully they are currently renovating. The renovation will continue through December 2017. The food is ok, but VERY overpriced, twice what we would pay in the USA for comparable quality. Drinks too. The staff was super friendly. The beach is gorgeous! We will go back to the Omni Cancun next time, and we won't book with Apple since rooms are not guaranteed.

The Westin Hotel & Spa was fantastic. The grounds were sparkling clean, the staff all spoke English and seemed to be very happy from the cleaning staff to the restaurant servers. Very friendly always saying hello or good morning. We loved the atmosphere and the beach was absolutely stunning! It was rare that we couldn't find chairs to layout on and while the hotel was fully booked it didn't seem over crowded. The rooms were well appointed and clean and honestly even more than that, the bed and pillows were super comfortable! We definitely recommend this hotel especially if you don't want a party environment. We went during spring break but had no issues whatsoever. There were no roudy guests or issues whatsoever.

Very nice hotel. I felt that the price we paid was commensurate with the hotel we were getting. Overall great value for our dollar. Extremely friendly staff and always remembered your name and where you were visiting from. They made me feel like we were staying in a five-star resort. Hotel itself was obviously older but was obviously being maintained to its maximum. You could tell they were spending money on making the hotel count where it needed it.

Can t cash a small Che ck, won t change a dollar into a peso. Tried to over charge Me for our prepaid room, no adequate lighting in the room, few towels, very long walk up ramp to get to front of hotel, no handicap assesibity! Never go back there!

When goingto theWestin Spa & Resort Cancun, always selectto stay in the Royal Beach Club. You will enjoy a lovely breakfast (included) which had a respectable variety of hot selections, fresh smoothies, and a beach view. Terrific service. Likewise, you'll enjoy a private 3-hour happy hour nightly. Another perk of the Beach Club? Your giant balcony with lounge chairs - and all ocean views. These are not perks that the guests in the main building enjoy. The pools at the beach club and the main hotelwere pristine, modern, and afforded us MORE ocean views. The beacheswere clean, andwe waded out into the ocean on clean sand and in crystal clear water. More like swimming in a pool than in an ocean. This beach is probably among the best in Cancun. Note: Do not cometo this resort if you want an all-inclusive with lots of food choices. Do not come if you wantpre-planned activities, nightly entertainment, and a party atmosphere. This is a quiet, sophisticated resort. Our room had beautiful, modern furnishings and a comfy bed with crisp, white linens and duvets. Our view was fabulous, and the beach-side service was perfect. Thank you,Westin!

The Westin Resort & Spa Cancun I have attached above the apple rating for the Westin Resort & Spa where we stayed for the 1 night. I have also attached what apple defines as a golden apple. I have stayed at several Cancun properties and just cannot believe that this Westin is considered a 5 golden apple. On Saturday afternoon at 3pm I went down to meet with the apple rep as that was the time slot that was given to me. Prior to that I called the Apple customer service number in America. I explained the situation stating we were very disappointed in this property and wanted to be relocated immediately. She said that the best way to go about moving is to touch base with the local Apple rep. In speaking with the local Apple Rep Gustavo, I again explained our disappoint with this property and told him that in no way was this a 5 golden apple. He told me that he would call me in an hour with hotel options. Well, about an hour and half past and we had no return call. I then called the local customer service number and they connected me to Gustavo. Apparently he had tried to call us but the PHONE in the room did not work………. He then gave me pricing that we would have to pay to be moved to the Riu hotel. We said no problem and that we would like to move first thing in the morning. He said that he would have to confirm with the RIu in the morning and that we should meet him in the lobby at 8am. We were in the Westin lobby at 8am but there was no Gustavo. Again I called the local Apple customer service number and they put me in touch with him. He then told me that all of the Riu hotels in Cancun and Playa del Carmen were sold out….. We booked a standard ocean view room, based on the room description on the apple website it shows that balcony or terrace is included. When we reached our room we had neither, the bellman said that if we wanted a balcony we would have to pay for an upgrade. The information they are listing below is misleading and false. Before we checked out the next morning I made them adjust the up-charge for the balcony room.

Great cozy beds and amazing staff. I had a small accident and asked the concierge if he could get antiseptic so I could clean my injury. I felt like it was asking a lot do I backed out and Went back to the pool. Within 5 minutes there was a staff member at my beck. If you're looking to get away and have the comfort of home on the beach. Without all the hype and price of high end resorts. Choose the Westin. 5*

We loved the close proximity of the ocean to the hotel and we loved the pools on the lagoon side and on the ocean side. The ocean side had a warm bubbly pool with seats all around which is not deep and our little grandchildren loved it. When the sun was obscured by the building we all went over to the lagoon side and stayed outside enjoying the beauty of the fading day in the 3 pools.

I had a great experience despite weather not cooperating with our beach plans. Hilario Santos took a great care of me and my friend contacting me even before arrival to assure of transportation from airport being set up, and early check in requested. He also helped to arrange great trip to a Tulum with snorkeling and ceynote experience with Go Natural company. But the most outstanding memories were created in Heavenly spa. First day I had a massage with Laura as a masseuse. It was good: very relaxing and just right pressure. Two days later considering windy and Ratner cool weather, my friend and I decided to sign up for Temazcal experience in the spa. Not knowing much about this authentic Mayan sweat lounge tradition, we were up for the greatest ever treatment for body and mind. Very much recommend to everyone seeking inner peace, exploring themselves, and open minded. It is a wonderful tradition delivered by caring natural healer. One of a kind experience!

We enjoyed - food could be better but everyone very helpful. We didn’t want AI and the Westin worked out fine. We actually drove our rental car around. The hotel was good - Cancun was not so great for us. The people outside of the hotel weren’t too welcoming. The pools, beach, and Spa were great at the Westin.

This resort is a hidden gem for SPG Platinum members. Firstly, it is SPG category 3 hotel and for only 7000 points a day you will get 4 star treatment. Secondly, as a Platinum member you will get not only free breakfast but also free drinks and appetizers from 4pm to 6 pm. It was our 3rd stay at this hotel. We had promotional package and stayed at Royal Beach club at this time. Our Laguna view room was big, clean with balcony. The bathroom is nice but shower pressure is low. The beach: Beach is great. Always plenty of chairs and towels. Staff is very friendly, polite, helpful. Concierge Hilario Santos is one of the best I have ever seen.

Renovated outside- rooms are in disrepair

We stayed at this hotel on new years eve and knew it had just finished (or hoped they were finished) renovations. We spent extra points to upgrade our room to ocean front. We were extremely disappointed. This hotel doesn't come close to meeting SPG'S high standards. The outside renovation is beautiful with lots of stone but I don't think they touched the pool- very old style looking and doesn't go with the modern look of the outside. Beach was wonderful, though being east and with the height of the building you lose the sun very early. Food in the restaurant was very good but service has no follow through. I had to go into the bar myself to get what I was waiting for. The real problem is on the inside. Hallway carpets are water stained and filthy. Our room had a yellow stained refrigerator inside. The housekeeper was nearby when we arrived so she tried to clean but was unable to. Drawers were difficult to open or didn't shut properly. Either light switch didn't work or bulb was burnt out by entry door. The bathroom had most of the problems. Every seam in the bathroom had loads of white caulking, a bad patch job. Our faucet moved from side to side and was not attached to the counter. Toilet paper holder was broken. Hinges on the shower door was rusted and decaying looking. One would not want to get near it. Our vanity mirror was also rusted. Bathroom door was damaged. The rest of the room looked fine- just old. The bed was super comfortable. Not everyone who works there is on the same page though- our bellman told us we could have 2 bottles of complementary water (with gold status) but housekeeping didn't want to give us another bottle but to her credit she did because she didn't want to disappoint me-I think she felt bad about the frig. We arrived in the afternoon and went to the beach, there were no towels available but so many used towels laying on all the chairs. At the end of the day we were able to get 2 clean ones and took them up to our room to ensure we would have towels for the next day. I tweeted SPG assist because of my disappointment with my room, towels, and to request late check out because I couldn't get the front desk to answer after numerous attempts. They reach out to hotel management. The manager contacted us in the lobby later that evening and apologized for the condition of our room and promised compensation in points refund. I couldn't hear how much but it didn't happen anyway. I do resent using my points and paying extra for this room. Usually Westins are very upscale- Shame.

I am disappointed. first Westin experience, really disappointing.

Seems that renovation/construction is finished, but still very disappointing. Worst SPG experience ever. 1. The hotel was not easy to find. You will not find anything about "Westin" or "SPG" outside their lobby. I had to ask to make sure I was in the right place. BTW, I emailed twice asking about renovation progress, no one bothered to reply. The email address are from their website. No excuses. 2. When we arrived, no one bothered to help us with parking. One guy asked to move my car to *somewhere*, but another guy told me "sir you can't park here" and he asked me to move my car yet again. Where did the valet parking go? 3. The front desk guys were proud, and even condescending. When I ask about late check availability, he simply replied no without even asking my room number. 4. Room is cheap, everything in room is cheap. It is basically a motel room. They say their room is Mexican style, but who would call a trash bin with the recycle icon "mexican style"???!!! Tub has stain. Water temperature is extremely hard to adjust, either too hot or too cold. took me 5 minutes before I can take a shower. The room door is not well sealed, you can hear people walking and talking outside at night.
