We changed rooms after one night because the original room assignment was beyond disappointing: the sliding closet door was completely off the track and resting on the floor and obviously immoveable (my husband manhandled it back into place); the refrigerator was actually sitting on the floor insid .. Disappointing stay, well below 4 star expectations and beware the high pressure sales from the concierge

This is the first time writing a review, but felt I had to of the Westin Resort and Spa Kaanapali because our experience was so disappointing and I?m very easy to please. I expect much more from a 4 star Westin Resort. The most annoying thing about this hotel was the high pressure sales from the Concierge. Be warned they are out to make a commission and book you in for a tour of the Westin Villa?s. After our arrival we checked in with the Concierge for some information and to receive our ?westin shopping bag?, we received phone calls and letters at home prior to arriving to tell us to stop in. The concierge tried very hard to get us to sign up for a tour of the Villa?s and info session on SPG ownership. I explained we?ve stayed at the Villa?s and we?re not interested in the SPG ownership so no thanks. We explained we?re here for the sun and she told us it was going to rain over the next few days so continued to pressure us to book a time and explained we can cancel at any time, we explained again that we?re not interested and that we?re on vacation and also not interested in having to call and cancel an appointment, etc. The following day we had a voicemail on our phone that it was the Concierge and hoped we enjoyed our first day and there is a gift for us to pick up at the Concierge desk. We?re SPG members, so thought that maybe it was because of that we had a gift. We went to pick it up with a different concierge and was given a box of chocolates and asked again about going on a tour of the Villa?s and SPG info session, we said we?re not interested and explained we had already been asked and said no. The Concierge asked us if we?d book in a time and we could cancel, etc. and that if we book a time with her the commission is linked to her. We told her we?re not interested and then she said we could still keep the chocolate, seriously. I?m not into high pressure sales or going on a vacation at a reputable resort to be prompted to utilize the Concierge only for the benefit of trying to pressure individuals into going on these tours. I?m a consumer who pays for and chooses where to stay and who to interact with and using the Concierge in this manner is sneaky and a very unprofessional way to operate. Food: we had a breakfast at the Ono bar and it wasn't very good at all, tasted like everything was cooked in oil, I expected so much better food quality, especially for the price and the service was also really poor, because of that we didn?t eat at the hotel again and ate at some amazing restaurants outside of the property. Room: the room was in need of repair, the wallpaper was actually peeling away from the wall, in major need of updating. This is not anywhere near a 4 star hotel room. It?s good that parking and wireless is included in your resort fee, but appalled that the fitness room is $25 per day?seriously ridiculous $25!
