Fantastic Holiday

If you yourself have manners and are courteous, not a 'pompous snotty arrogant serve me attitude' or an I've spent 'x' so I deserve 'x' then you'll have a fantastic holiday here. Travelling with my parents, my partner, an almost four year old and 18 month old we can only speak really highly of this resort, staff and service. The staff go above and beyond at this resort. We've been to many resorts and this has been the best so far. It doesn't feel mechanical in anyway way. So: Food- Seabreeze was clean and managed well. One or two pesky flies as you get in hot countries but none of the crazy batting that I've had to do in other places. Yes the food was buffet as per but it never felt overcrowded, or that you were hurried for your table or you couldn't take your time and relax. Food choice was fine- dinner often themed (or was when We attended anyway) As always- rude guests though... I Don't know how the staff cope. If you get fed up of the food- there's a magazine in your suite with restaurants to go to listed in it...get booking that taxi! Buccaneers was a nice change. We didn't get the chance to try Nicole's on this occasion. Thanks to all staff- special mention for Tryphina, Maria, Carry and sorry to those whose names we didn't catch. Thank you very much. The grill was nice. Spoilt again on numerous occasions by other rude guests who don't know how to ask 'are you waiting to be seated' and just push in when the come up the steps from main beach area. But again, staff are nice and the food is tasty. Note the all staff again working so hard. Big thank you to kitchen staff in that heat! Rooms- we had a lovely view with the waterfront suite. As with most hotels/resorts, if you're silly enough to believe the hype and 'buy' your way through life for things such as a better view (lol) then the room views are almost the same(ish). Our booking was actually moved from the St James resort so yes I got caught up in the hype of the room description but really my parents had the same room (garden view). Only difference was a few beautiful trees in the way. But seriously, how much time is spent in the rooms during the day anyway??? Room amenities - lovely BIG bathroom and bath. Happy days! Resort- The grounds are lovely and well kept. Shame people couldn't be bothered to take their empty glass back to the bar or just put it on a table... The buggys are brill taking you up and down to where you want to get to. Big Thank you to Jason! And the others whose names we didn't catch. Making us feel so welcome. Really cool guys. Again working hard. Long Bay beautiful! Main beach beautiful. Mum says Rasta Beach lovely. I didn't get to that one! The short cut to Devils Bridge was handy to know! Main pool- great to see kids having fun. As per usual the towels were out bright and early 'reserving' the loungers hahahaha but there were plenty available on the lovely beaches. Personally I don't go on holiday to sit around a swimming pool when you do that at home so no bother there. Plenty of general seating around the pool area anyhow- so well done Verandah! Our Kids enjoyed the small spur of the moment pool time we had though. Had fun at the games areas playing pool, table tennis, table football and mini golf. The taxi/cab drivers are pleasant and informative about the beautiful Island. Kids Club- Big thanks to Tamara and I'm gutted that I don't know her colleagues name. But thank you both for making my girls feel so welcome. They had so much fun and still talk about the activities and you both. Thank you for also accommodating us parents who stay to play with our kiddies at kids club. The only thing I would suggest you don't get your hopes up about is the nightly entertainment. My Dad loved the resident singer! So did we all in the end. But yes not much in terms of night entertainment but our days were so busy that we welcomed sleep after a few drinks at the bar. Bar staff were great- wait your turn and you'll get served (once again watch out for the other rude guests) Perhaps my longest review to date but a big thank you Verandah. We had a lovely time.

Like many reviews this resort is set on a beautiful setting, grounds very well kept, rooms with lovely views and a nice bar area especially for the evenings when having a few drinks. Some really great staff members, those that really stood out was Jose who helped around the pool, really friendly guy! Neville the restaurant manager is the really gem of this resort, a kind man!! Nothing is too much. We ate at the beach bar and grill most days and evenings, we had a nice meal in buccaneers! We found the buffet restaurant although ok, there wasn’t a huge choice, particularly for children, having been to many all inclusive we were expecting the standard pasta & meat station! We liked how there was a different theme and they definitely try to give variety. The two beaches are both lovely, we particularly liked the main beach, water sports team were really good! Our room overlooked the water which was really nice, comfortable and clean. Housekeeping staff were really great! The little coffee shop did really nice coffees which we enjoyed every afternoon. We made great friends on this trip and my girls had a wonderful time! Long bay is a short stroll away, as well as Devils bridge, the staff offered daily group walks to devils bridge. The buggy drivers were happy to drop you off at long bay. We travelled as a family however if you are adults only you can go and get a day pass to Pineapple beach which was almost opposite the Verandah!

Upon arrival we received a heart felt greeting by the front desk staff. The entire Varanda staff pleasant and accommodating. Most particularly Ms. Myriam Brown. She took time off to drive us throughout the resort. She also arranged for a visit to the sister resort - Pineapple Resort located on one of Antigua top beaches. The Varandha beach was quite and peaceful. Enough chairs and umbrellas for all. Night entertainment. My daughter enjoyed the kids club. We will definitely return.

Lovely holiday and beautiful setting.

I stayed at The Verandah in July with my two daughters (18 & 20). Upon arrival we were delighted to find out that we had been given the room request we had made. We were taken to our room by one of the buggies that regularly run throughout the resort. It is truly a beautifully laid out hotel with significant space between each villa (which accommodate two families). Our room had an incredible view - the waterfront villas are worth every penny. One of the biggest surprises of the trip was the quality of the food at the Sea Breeze restaurant which was much better than other buffets at AIs we have visited. We particularly enjoyed the breakfasts. We also visited Nicoles twice and thoroughly enjoyed it - excellent service and wonderful food. The view from the beach bar and grill was wonderful, but the food there wasn't fantastic. Much has been said of the attitude of the staff and there were definitely a few members who could have been more pleasant. Overall, however, we found most to be helpful, particularly front desk and the cleaning crews. Both beaches are beautiful. There is some construction noise at the main beach. Unlike many resorts in Antigua, the beaches themselves were not covered in seaweed. The sand beneath the sea water, however, was affected and as the water is shallow, it is a bit of a nuisance. We visited the Pineapple Beach both for lunch and supper and really enjoyed the opportunity to eat out. The mini golf was great. The main pool was large and the temperature perfect and never overly crowded. The pool activities were great fun. I loved having the choice to go to the adult pool, which was always peaceful, albeit quite small. Overall we had a wonderful holiday and have taken away some great memories.

What delightful staff in the restaurants and on the beach who were very friendly and always willing to help. It was my son's birthday on our final day and the restaurant staff sang a traditional antiguan "Happy Birthday" to him as well as giving him a cake. The food was tasty and the resort facilities were good in particular the great children's club with a good range of daily activities.
