After a disappointing start to our trip our Family Concierge Eunicis Espinosa did everything in her power to make it right. This girl was always there trying her best to make sure we were happy. I have never seen anybody work as hard as her. She was there from morning to night. One thing I will say is I don't think it is fair when people take advantage of her. She has a life and should not be made to be at somebody's beckon call. The things I saw people ask her is not right. We are all human and can do certain things for ourselves. Each and every day she would come and see us and tell us where we would be having dinner that night and not once were we disappointed. It is people like her that make this world a better place. We had Eunicis last year and we would not have returned if it had not been for her. She took care of our family of twelve perfectly and we could not have asked for a better concierge.

Decent stay in a beautiful atmosphere

The resort had the exact look of what I consider to be paradise. It has all the workings of being a dynamite stay at first glance. I had issues that the quality was spotty at best. We had to ask for towels every day since there always seemed to be one type or another missing. The was no fitted bedsheet. Instead there was a sheet tucked in that did not cover the bottom of the bed. The doors to the rooms had no quiet close. Even carefully closing the door sounds like it is being slammed at full force. The room itself was fantastic. I just didn't like the pillows or the sheets, besides the noise. The entertainment available was not very good, but that is certainly not what we went to the resort for. We stayed for 7 nights, but you are only allowed to book restaurants for four nights of your stay. They are reservation only so the other nights you are forced to eat at the buffets. The buffets were fine (hit or miss items like you would expect), but got old quick eating them morning, noon, and night for a week. There is only one restaurant open for lunch that allows a la carte ordering. One other puts together a small buffet. There are no restaurants open for breakfast except the buffets. The restaurants were not very good. Only two good meals in my opinion. We stayed in the Reserve and I would not recommend it for couples. Either splurge for the adults only are or go to another resort. I would pick another resort. All the beds and chairs were taken up from sun up to sun down at both enormous pools by towels left there all day by absent families. The beds on the beach for the reserve were my favorite part. It was a smaller and quieter beach. It is about a 10 minute walk from the rooms or they have sporadic shuttles. Note the beach is public so peddlers bug you all day. Still worth it for the beach. The water was red and yellow flags the whole time we were there, so I cannot say how clear it normally is. We went in December and the weather was beyond perfect for sleeping on the beach and taking dips in the ocean. The pool was a little too cool for me. I was not a fan of the service at the beach or at the pools. The staff would bug you for tips constantly and ignore you at the same time. The favorite saying of one of the people assigned to the Reserve area was "wakey, wakey, drinkey drinkey." I kid you not. So much for naps on the beach. That being said our favorite spot was definitely the beach.

Question to the resort management

We know this resort for many years, visiting it at least once a year with the whole family. We've stay for 2 weeks for Christmas break coming back home at first week of January. In general I've noticed that many things are slowly going down and its related not only to the food quality or availability of towels or sometimes spots on the beach, but even family and adults entertainment as most people couldn't find a fun activities or music spots (specially after 11p.m.) The casino at the resort also looks like downgrading more and more (luck of good machines or a poker table). I feel its like slowly transforming to a different place I've knew and got used to. But my question is not about all these. My youngest 2 years old kid got seriously sick there and we didn't know what to do. It started with a simple bump rush which we've tried to heal with all possible creams we've got. Than we've visited a local doctor and day after went to private hospital in the city. Spend thousands on visiting but nothing really helped. When we come back home we went to sick kids hospital, but all solutions we've offered and tried - was waste of time. During the vacation time, kid was twice in the kids club, was swimming in the pools and eating a normal food. So after 2-3 days with temperature 39.5 and alternative treatment with both Tylenol and Advil the temperature went down, but his body started to get covered with red bubble spots, specially on his hands, feet, bump and inside his throat - kid couldn't eat any acid type of food (tropical, even tomatoes and so on). No doctors could indicate that his got "hands, foot and mouth disease" which we found out after searching google. I'm not sure how and where his got it, but we've got really scared as we're good parents and trying our best to keep the kid healthy. Now, a week after we came back from vacation, my kid is recovered 80% with lots of red spots over his body that slowly healing. Now, I've got to spend 3 days with fever and throat pain when suddenly discovered red spots on my hands and feet as well and wondering who is next. Well, saying that, I'm curious if any solution available to avoid such things in the future? I'm not sure what could be done. Maybe some regular check ups for new hotel visitors and personal that works in the resort, maybe use of disposable gloves specially for those who works in the kitchen or some kind of regular disinfection in all areas. I dont know. But I know one thing for sure this "hands foot and mouth disease" its real and could spread easily in pools, food or by simple touching and not among the kids only. I really hope this is a single case. Good luck

NOT WORTH THE MONEY !!

We stayed at the Reserve at Paradisus Punta Canca for New year's eve. We were thoroughly dissatisfied. First of all, the concierge would push you to make reservation for dinner at places which are not sought after. The food is really bad ( the sushi place is an exception). The italian restaurant is a joke. The Fueglo is one which had decent food. The Vento was also below average. The breakfast was so crowded - we could not get a table to be seated for over 15 minutes and had to stand in line. The room we got was just above the dance floor and I paid a premium for this !!!. They were partying till midnight every night and had loud music blasting. Overall I paid a premium for the Reserve ocean front room and had to deal with this loud music just below my bed. I will not recommend this place to anyone. There are much better places to stay and you can pay half this price !!
