Belizian rain Forrest at its best!

This is by far the best rain Forrest resort we have stayed at. The accommodations were top notch. The restaurant service and food exceeded our expectations. The range of activities onsite as well as off site are executed well. The guides are knowledgeable and fun. As their slogan states "wildly civilized"

I will try and be concise and detailed in this review to make it worth your time. We had cottage 3. Ample space and very well designed. It was like a really smart person was hired to stay there a few nights and write down everything they'd possibly want. Then they did all of it. We never missed AC (large powerful overhead fan) and certainly not TV. Chaa Creek is so quiet. I don't count the critters. It's their jungle after all. Every night about 7:00, the cicadas start making a very clear and long tone, it's enchanting. The monkeys are mostly near daybreak, and fun to hear. Very few flying insects in November. Lots of birds. Now to the food. You really shouldn't care about the limited dinner menu, which revolves. Every dish is prepared to perfection. All the soups and salads are wonderful also. And the breads, which are baked on site, also change every night. Breakfast was varied and consistently good. The pool food was even excellent. Never had a bad bite at Chaa Creek. Bet you won't either. Staff - sometimes we go to resorts and yes, the staff are friendly, but sometimes it's a bit strained. Not here. It's very clear the people who work here love what they're doing and where they are. The owners' very enlightened tip pool and bonus policy may be one factor, but we'd bet that fair treatment, and a very positive "tone from the top" are really what guides it all. Our excursions were easy to schedule, and the guides were uniformly knowledgeable and great to be with. We explored the nearby Mayan ruins and the Barton Creek cavern in canoe. Also every exhibit the property provides, including an extensive tour of the farm. My wife is very involved with horticulture, and the farm manager personally took her through every aspect of what they do. I could also cite other exemplary staff, but you'll experience them yourself, no doubt. All the pricing, including food, drinks and excursions was fair and reasonable. In fact our final checkout folio was about 60% of what I thought it'd be. The pool is beautiful and the water is among the best we'd every experienced. It's almost "silky" but still crystal clear. Finally, we got to meet Mrs. Fleming, and she could not have been more gracious and interesting to talk with. (Her pictures don't do her justice by the way). I mentioned I had sure hoped to try the lamb shanks during our visit and she said she'd talk to the chef. I told her that wasn't really necessary...but on our last night, there they were. And their picture doesn't do them justice either. Overall, this is a nearly magical place, created within its natural setting through diligence, and an honest care for everyone involved - staff, excursion guides, and guests alike. And certainly an honest care for the environment also, which is evident in every aspect of the property.

It has the look. The staff was on point. We enjoyed the night hike, nature center, canoes, and of course the pool. Bloody Mary's were tasty. We stayed in the Spa Lodge which was great. The views are wonderful from the master deck. Food ranged from good to great. Lastly the location is good to hit many jungle highlights.

The proprietors have created an oasis of beauty in the midst of a wild jungle. If only the Howler monkey's had slept in past 4:30am! It was exciting hearing the troop of Howler's even if they started our day earlier than expected.
