Stayed at the Kahala for 6 nights and thoroughly enjoyed it. Customer service was fantastic, the whole staff made sure your stay was memorable. The room was spacious with huge bathroom. We had a view of the golf course and mountains and it was superb. It is situated in a residential area so its not as busy or crowded as Waikiki but that was just what we wanted. The beach was never crowded. They had several excellent restaurants on the property and we ate at all the them. Our favorite was Hoku's. Overall, very enjoyable stay and would definitely return and recommend!

A Dream Vacation

The Kahala Hotel and Resort was just what we were hoping for... The resort is beautiful and the service was exceptional. Although it's just a few minutes from the hustle of Waikiki, the beach is pristine and we never had any problem finding available lounge chairs either on the beach or the pool. We scheduled a family photo shoot with @Pacific Dream Photography at the resort and could not be happier with the amazing family photographs we came away with. Our photographer, Elise, was entertaining and managed to get great shots of the whole family and the entire process of having the photos taken and then picking out the ones we wanted was easy and fun. Breakfast at the Plumeria was also a treat every morning and, all in all, and we can't say enough positive things about our stay. We'll definitely be back!

What a shame, used to be great

Had stayed at the Kahala twice previously. Years ago they had regular shuttle service to take guests into Waikiki, 20 minutes away. Now the service is spotty at best. The hotel is isolated and very remote, bored me to hang out there, took Uber to Waikiki each day. The resort has a deserted beach, small pool area, but more wind than other side of Diamond Head. Waikiki had better and warmer weather each day I was there. My memories of the Kahala 14 years ago were nice. I reminisced about the quality and warm reception you used to get. Not anymore! We had our choice of some premium rooms - 2 Dolphin Lagoon rooms and one beachfront room for additional $$$$. The beachfront room was awful, decor looked disheveled, markings on baseboards, furniture layout terrible - pass. The Dolphin lagoon room upstairs had a small balcony overlooking the lagoon. We selected the best of the 3, downstairs at the end of the lagoon with a small patio. Furniture was slightly better condition, but room was run down. Tiles in the bathroom floor had chips missing, scuff markings along walls and hallways, our carpet was old and musty. Wish I could have photographed but it would have upset my friend. The dolphins in the lagoon swim very close to the rooms. They flap their fins and clap their jaws which makes a noise that wakes you at night if the slider door is open. The pool bar was an utter joke! Unpleasant atmosphere, and charged the same price as beachfront Waikiki bars that make an excellent, fresh Mai Tai. I was disgusted when I tasted my Mai Tai, then saw that it was made from mixes - plus its served in a plastic dixie cup. The Hoku's restaurant was overpriced, stuffy atmosphere. Lobby outside of Hoku's had nightly piano music tho. The best restaurant was the Italian restaurant on site. Bummer that it's situated along the parking lot in front. Morning buffet was good, eating by the lawn area pleasant, service was slow. The small pool area always had a few kids in floaties in the pool, a few adults in the jacuzzi. The furniture and cushions were faded and worn, needed replacing. The hallways of the Kahala were dirty with skid marks on the walls and baseboards, the rooms were in run down condition. Not much attention seemed to be paid to comforts and nicer amenities for their guests. I'd never return to this resort! The only people staying here seem to do so to play on the golf course or want total isolation and privacy. The Kahala has had its day, go elsewhere if you want better treatment, updated rooms and nicer weather.

We had exceptional service during our entire stay-from bellhops to waitstaff to evening turndown service, everyone was friendly, helpful and made you feel welcome. Rooms are very spacious and it’s peaceful location 10 minutes outside the crowdedness of Waikiki was welcomed. Will definitely return

We were here in December and loved it so much could hardly wait to return. Just as luxurious and wonderful in spring even without the glorious Christmas decorations. This is a first class resort with lovely, spacious rooms, beautiful views, excellent buffet breakfast with to die for papaya! We also enjoy the poolside bar which serves up drinks and delicious sandwiches. The vegan burger is hands down the best I have ever eaten. Wonder how many times I’ll have to visit before they give me the recipe?! Beautiful ocean front without wall to wall tourists like Waikiki. So much classier. Dolphins to watch play and programs to swim with the dolphins which is on my bucket list. Fantastic resort with heavenly comfortable beds, quiet, wonderful housekeeping and best of all the extraordinary staff - all smiling, happy, helpful and willing to do anything you ask for. Oozing with that renowned “ aloha spirit” so lacking in the mainland states. Wish I could come and never leave but we will be back for certain. Nothing I’ve found to not like. Mahalo Kahala staff and management and we so appreciate your giving us the room and everything else we asked for!
