My only complaint is the 4 + hr layover in Miami on our way back. When I first got our itinerary I called and asked about the long layover. I was told it was because we had to go thru customs in Miami. Well, we went thru customs in St. Croix before we boarded.

Everything we could have wanted to have or do at the Buccaneer was provided. The staff was exceptional and went above and beyond to make our stay flawless! Their personal attention made it feel like a boutique hotel and we mattered. We will absolutely stay there again!!

Despite a beautiful property the service was inconsistent at best and several moments that were very, very poor. Some areas of the property were simply ignored by housekeeping including feces that were left in the main stairwell more than 24 hours. I regret the decision to stay at the Buccaneer.

Absolutly 1st class. Hotel is managed by a hands on manager/owner. The Buccaneer treats all of the guests as part of the Buccaneer family. The wine and snack basket delivered to your home upon arrival is a most welcomed treat. The golf course has many beautiful views of the island and ocean. I have stayed at The Buccaneer for the past 30 years and every year the improvements continue to enhance the experience.

Anniversary Trip

This was our first trip to The Buccaneer and St Croix. Since it was an anniversary trip, we wanted more of a resort atmosphere than a stand alone villa and The Buccaneer was perfect for our needs. ROOM: We stayed in a Doubloons room, which was PERFECT! It was on Mermaid Beach and we had a fabulous patio. There was seating inside the room, but why sit inside when the outside is so incredible? The room also had a small fridge, table, two sinks and a very nice sized walk in closet. Our room was cleaned most days while we were at breakfast and turn-down each night before we returned home from dinner. Note: The resort sits on a hill - a rather large incline from where our room was located to the main building. However, you can contact the front desk for transportation between the two if needed. BREAKFAST/RESTAURANTS: Can't say enough good things about the breakfast! There are about 6 different kinds of juices, an omelette station, several types of breads and muffins, bacon, french toast, grits (which are some of the best grits I've ever had), fruit, etc... Due to the large breakfast we really didn't take advantage of the restaurants at Grotto or Mermaid Beach for lunch during our trip. We did attend the Monday night grill event at the Mermaid and I would recommend making reservations in advance. Also, the staff made several of our off site dinner reservations and we got really great tables at the restaurants. TRANSPORTATION: We did not rent a car and relied on taxis to travel around the island. We have been to several Caribbean islands and found the taxis on St. Croix to be very reasonably priced and efficient. BEACH: We visited Mermaid Beach every day and did not visit Grotto Beach. The beach never felt crowded and there were floats, mats, snorkel equipment, etc... to use. I was worried about the lack of umbrellas for shade on the beach, but the palm trees provided all the shade needed and the chairs can be moved depending on how much sun/shade you need. Mermaid Beach is very pretty, but we didn't get to see the true beauty of the water due to high winds while we were there. Snorkeling was hard, but this was the case all over the island. Our Buck Island trip was cancelled too. STAFF: The staff was mostly pleasant, but a special thank you to Joseph at the front desk. He seemed to be there 24/7 and was always the staff member helping us when needed with a smile on his face. I know this was a long review, but I can't say enough good things about this resort and we can't wait to return!

A Quick Trip To Sun And Surf

Having never been to St. Croix before, was at a loss of where to stay (typically a Marriott customer) given the absence of recognizable hotel flags on the island. Trolling the various travel sites with the self-imposted limitations of; i) Nice, ii) Waterfront and, iii) Self-Contained - Not necessarily All-Inclusive) we arrived at The Buccaneer | St. Croix ... we weren't disappointed. Strengths: • Staff was extremely nice and helpful • Location was gorgeous .... on a cove and a peninsula gave you alot of privacy while still being able to 'walk the beach.' • Nice restaurant accommodations beachside ... two different beach locations onsite and each had their own restaurant bar - - we preferred the larger restaurant, better menu options. Weaknesses: • A 'Legacy' resort ... although it's been kept up nicely, the general presentation is 'circa 1990's' • St. Croix is an under developed island that is also still recovering (abit) from the last hurricane - particularly the Christiansted downtown area. • Beachfront rooms (which we had) didn't have doors or windows that allowed you to let the ocean breeze's in ... all fixed, no sliders or screens. A nice relaxing visit to be sure and glad we checked out St. Croix for the first time ... As for my wife and I, we'll try other 'new places' before we'd make our way back.

We had a wonderful room, spacious with a gorgeous ocean view. It was 2 minutes to the beach. We enjoyed Mermaid Beach and especially Grotto Beach and the walk up. Took some fantastic shots. The highlight was the gracious staff, everyone who helped us was wonderful. Nick at the Beauregard bar is a real treasure. We have traveled in the Caribbean and this is our favorite.

It’s been 40 years since we began vacationing at the Buccaneer Hotel in St Croix, and we can truly say that each visit has been better than the last. This past January was no exception. Once again, we were treated like royalty by an amazing staff that has become family to us. Their genuine friendliness, exemplary service, and exceptional professionalism is unsurpassed. That, combined with the awesome palm-tree-filled beaches, the incredible and inspired food and drinks, and the intoxicating Crucian breezes, makes the Buccaneer truly heaven on earth. A special shout out to our reservations manager, Diane Gordon, for going way above-and-beyond to make our recent stay absolutely incomparable! If you are looking for an exceptional Caribbean vacation, you can’t go wrong with the Buccaneer. We can’t wait to go back!

Very pristine grounds and beach with fantastic ambiance. One of the best resorts on the Island. Great service and accommodations. I suggest this resort when visiting St.Croix, located about 2 miles from downtown.
