My only complaint is the 4 + hr layover in Miami on our way back. When I first got our itinerary I called and asked about the long layover. I was told it was because we had to go thru customs in Miami. Well, we went thru customs in St. Croix before we boarded.

Everything we could have wanted to have or do at the Buccaneer was provided. The staff was exceptional and went above and beyond to make our stay flawless! Their personal attention made it feel like a boutique hotel and we mattered. We will absolutely stay there again!!

Despite a beautiful property the service was inconsistent at best and several moments that were very, very poor. Some areas of the property were simply ignored by housekeeping including feces that were left in the main stairwell more than 24 hours. I regret the decision to stay at the Buccaneer.

Absolutly 1st class. Hotel is managed by a hands on manager/owner. The Buccaneer treats all of the guests as part of the Buccaneer family. The wine and snack basket delivered to your home upon arrival is a most welcomed treat. The golf course has many beautiful views of the island and ocean. I have stayed at The Buccaneer for the past 30 years and every year the improvements continue to enhance the experience.

The Grandaddy of The USVI Resorts

We have visited the US Virgin Islands for the past 10 years, have stayed in several resort Hotels. The Buccaneer is by far the best of the all. You will not find a more gracious and helpful staff. You can sit on the terrace at the main eatery in the resort, and literally see in your mind the glamour and glitz of the 50’s and 60’s when all the major stars and dignitaries visited the Island. Tons of planned activities for all ages, a magnificent golf course, and tennis courts galore. Or a quiet day spent on one of the three different beaches at the resort. It is very pricy, but we have found that in the islands, you definitely get what you pay for.

We came to St Croix, our first, because our usual spot on st John was still being repaired. My wife actually heard about this resort because one of the trips given away on Wheel of Fortune was The Buccaneer. I can highly recommend a visit whether it be couples, friends or family. Much to do from golf, tennis, swimming in one of several pools or the Caribbean Sea. The view is post card quality that changes, depending on the time of day. Gorgeous is not to strong of a word to describe views. Lastly, the entire staff compare favorably with any five star resort.

We stayed at the Buccaneer for 2 weeks and it was great. The staff were wonderful and the rooms and amenities were top drawer. Definately get a beach side room. They are right on the beach and wonderful. If going to St. Croix this is the place to stay. The breakfast buffet is one of the best!

This place is amazing! The people, the ambiance, food, adventures, etc cannot rave enough! I booked in Coakley Bay and REGRET THAT HORRIBLE PLACE ALTOGETHER! No reception, miscommunication etc! I wish I could rate them, but they have a special way of dealing with their reviews, they delete them.

An Outstanding Hotel!

The Buccaneer lies between a manicured golf course, and a lovely beach. That puts it in fairly exclusive territory - even in the Caribbean. My wife and I have stayed here, off and on, for years. Most places, it seems, tend to rest on their laurels. This hotel, keeps getting even better. We've enjoyed numerous upscale properties throughout the Caribbean, and on the US Mainland. The Buccaneer is at least their equal, and in some cases superior, often at a much lower rate. There's an efficient, casual Caribbean elegance here. It starts at the front desk. Checking in is a warm, gracious experience. Jennifer, Nadia, and the other hotel personnel you may meet in the lobby, always seem genuinely happy to greet guests. It's the same attitude you'll find in the main dining room, the beach bar/restaurants, and on the part of the drivers who will gladly shuttle you between your room, and the main building. It's obvious. The staff really enjoys working here! A bit of advice. Have the Concierge make your reservations, if you're going to dine at any of the Island's excellent restaurants. We had dinner at two of St. Croix's premier establishments. The food was great. That was expected. What was a pleasant surprise, was the choice table the Concierge got us at each place. We stayed in room 352, a Deluxe Oceanfront Room - more like an elegant junior suite really. On one side is the golf course. On the other is the beach. The room was spotless, comfortable, and huge! It's a long walk, but a short shuttle ride to The Terrace restaurant. The Terrace, with its beautiful view, is where breakfast is served each morning. It's an extensive buffet, with food choices ranging from very good to excellent - the latter includes an omelet station. We also had Thanksgiving Dinner at The Terrace, a buffet complete with a carving station, and a large variety of sides. The food, a bottle of Domaine Carneros brute rose, and a live band made the evening very enjoyable. The Mermaid restaurant, right on the beach, and a short walk from our room, offers a wonderful lunch. While prices in the restaurants are not inexpensive, they're on a par with what we're accustomed to paying at equivalent properties. The only disappointment occurred when one lady from housekeeping arrived to service the room, heard our 10lb. Pomeranian bark, and promptly disappeared. The other ladies seemed ready to take Beau, our pet, home with them. There's so much more we can recommend about this place. At this point, however, we think you have an accurate picture of what to expect here.
