Perfect Beach Vacation

The Buccaneer offered clean beaches attractive for swimming and walking. The pools were also lovely. The staff was available, helpful, but not intrusive. The view from the room was amazing. The food and drinks were a treat as well!

My only complaint is the 4 + hr layover in Miami on our way back. When I first got our itinerary I called and asked about the long layover. I was told it was because we had to go thru customs in Miami. Well, we went thru customs in St. Croix before we boarded.

Despite a beautiful property the service was inconsistent at best and several moments that were very, very poor. Some areas of the property were simply ignored by housekeeping including feces that were left in the main stairwell more than 24 hours. I regret the decision to stay at the Buccaneer.

Absolutly 1st class. Hotel is managed by a hands on manager/owner. The Buccaneer treats all of the guests as part of the Buccaneer family. The wine and snack basket delivered to your home upon arrival is a most welcomed treat. The golf course has many beautiful views of the island and ocean. I have stayed at The Buccaneer for the past 30 years and every year the improvements continue to enhance the experience.

I spent two weeks at the Buccaneer in march. Though it was a work trip to the US Virgin Islands, I took advantage of my spare time to explore the beauty of the island.Awesome landscape... beautiful surroundings...

I was here with a group of almost 50 people. Their special events staff was awesome. All three beaches were amazing and the water is just incredible. Mermaid is the better swimming beach. Grotto was better for snorkeling. Snorkeling was kind of derailed by a couple of storms but we booked a trip to Buck Island and got picked up and dropped off right from the dock in front of our honeymoon suite. Make sure you do this. I have been all over the Caribbesn and this is some of the best snorkeling I have done!! The breakfast was awesome and free which makes it even better! Phyllis and Mr Maynard made our morning every single day. They did a fantastic job with our golf tournament. We had our a/c go out while we were there. They asked me about it before we even had a chance to mention it to them. It was fixed same day. If I had to come up with a negative, I would say the walk up to breakfast or dinner is tough. However, they have shuttles running. The fire show on Mondays at the Mermaid was good as well. If anyone has any specific questions, feel free to message. Amazing stay! I will say that this resort is great for almost anyone. The only exception would be people with disabilities as far as walking. I loved walking around. It is definitely built in exercise.

Beautiful, expensive place

The Buccaneer is a lovely resort on St. Croix with fantastic views of Christianstad. Our room was down the hill between the 2 main beaches. The rooms could use a little sprucing up and minor maintenance. But when we had an issue, they came quickly to fix it. Being down the hill made it very convenient for the beach and water sports and lunches. However breakfast and many dinners were only served up the hill at the main building. This led to a 5 minute walk uphill for these meals, which we considered part of our workout, but others may find difficult. They will send a golf cart for you, but I have no idea who long that would take. The food was delicious and the service friendly. Being greeted by Melrose each morning at breakfast brought a smile to our faces. The only drawback is that the food and drinks are quite expensive.

Spring in St Croix was a delight especially staying at the Buccaneer Resort. The beaches were clean and quiet as were the pools. Our room had an amazing view and the overall effect was a wonderful and genuinely relaxing experience. All the meals and drinks we had were excellent. The property is well kept and has an elegance which adds to the vacation atmosphere. Can’t wait to return!

I went back and forth on this one between a 4 and a 5. The property is unbelievable, the views amazing, great walking trails and one of the best beaches for swimming I have had a resort. Good, soft sand, deep and fun waves. Really good gym with plenty of good equipment (strong treadmills) and one of the pools works for lap swimming. You get a good work out walking up the big beautiful hills around the resort. All of the staff we talked to were very friendly and went out of their way to make things fun for you. We used the kayaks and went out snorkeling with the hotel guy and he was great! The breakfast was as good as it possibly could be. with tons of fresh fruit and fresh hot items. Everything I could think of was available. After that is where I needed the work out. lol The down side The room was a bit dated, but did have a great balcony with an ocean view. The sheets on the bed were pebbly and made it not very comfortable. The other bad part is that the Island is totally unwalkable and there is a severe shortage of rental cars. (obviously not the resorts fault) So it is not easy to walk somewhere to get snacks or to eat off the resort. Taking a cab to eat is doable but does get expensive. The island still has a way to come back from the last hurricane - but the resort is all good.
