My only complaint is the 4 + hr layover in Miami on our way back. When I first got our itinerary I called and asked about the long layover. I was told it was because we had to go thru customs in Miami. Well, we went thru customs in St. Croix before we boarded.

Everything we could have wanted to have or do at the Buccaneer was provided. The staff was exceptional and went above and beyond to make our stay flawless! Their personal attention made it feel like a boutique hotel and we mattered. We will absolutely stay there again!!

Despite a beautiful property the service was inconsistent at best and several moments that were very, very poor. Some areas of the property were simply ignored by housekeeping including feces that were left in the main stairwell more than 24 hours. I regret the decision to stay at the Buccaneer.

Absolutly 1st class. Hotel is managed by a hands on manager/owner. The Buccaneer treats all of the guests as part of the Buccaneer family. The wine and snack basket delivered to your home upon arrival is a most welcomed treat. The golf course has many beautiful views of the island and ocean. I have stayed at The Buccaneer for the past 30 years and every year the improvements continue to enhance the experience.

Beautiful property, great hospitality

As part of our trip to the US Virgin Islands, we enjoyed a 6-night stay at the Buccaneer. This is a beautiful, large property, with golf and tennis facilities, two cafes/restaurants close to the beaches and a nice swimming-pool. We had a nice room with ocean view, close to the Beauregard cafe. Breakfast buffet at the Terrace was great and offered choices of cold and warm dishes. Staff was professional. There is a shuttle service to Christiansted. Don't miss the Welcome cocktail party held by the owner, Elizabeth Armstrong, on tuesday.

I have never taken a trip where i wasnt sick from being glutened. This place knows their stuff. It was exciting for me to eat like a normal person. The drinks were also delicious and everyone was friendly. The room was comfortable and had a nice balcony and view. The entertainment each night was good. Highly priced, but you get what you pay for.

We have historically looked to Caneel Bay in St. John for our Virgin Island stays. With that resort severely damaged by the recent hurricanes, we were thrilled to find The Buccaneer. The property is beautiful, with rolling hills and three beaches to choose from. We were upgraded to an ocean front room and had private, sweeping views of the sunset every night. The breakfast is outstanding for an "included" rate- especially the variety and quality of fruits that were served. It is clear that this is a place of family and employee pride. From the "greeter" at the buffet each morning (you'll know him when you meet him), to Frances at the beachside restaurant, to the head chef who made omelets, to the Jamaican director of food/beverage who greeted us warmly at day or night, we were blown away by the hospitality. Elizabeth is such a grateful and warm host- we enjoyed meeting her at the weekly manager's cocktail night and again later that week on the beach. We were on the younger end of the age spectrum (early 40's) and had no trouble with the hike up to the restaurant for breakfast. Whistle beach is amazing and private. We shared the beach with 12+ large iquanas on the nearby cliffs without seeing another soul for hours. We appreciated the quiet of Grotto beach/pool, with long, private walks to ourselves. The Grotto pool remodel is beautiful and the new restaurant location must be one of the best on the island. Even the busier Mermaid beach was never too crowded. We did the free kayak tour to Green Cay island and saw sea turtles. We also enjoyed the fire dancers at the Grill and Chill night at the Mermaid. Nearby Shoy Beach with the mangrove tree tunnel is a must-see and an easy drive just outside the security check point. The concierge helped arrange a half day trip to Buck Island. This included pick up and drop off at the resort pier- such a great convenience. We had a rental car for the week and there was free parking across from our building. They do offer a shuttle to town, but we enjoyed the freedom of having a car. The concierge booked reservations for us when we ate off site and we would be seated at some of the best tables each night. We had some great dinners at the resort. Each night, there is live music. We did not come here with expectations for great night life, and the quieter evenings were much appreciated. Yes, drinks and food were expensive. But this type of expansive, historic property just doesn't exist in many other places, and the island as a whole is rather pricey. As for potential opportunities for improvement- one of the concierge workers (seated to the right side of the desk) was not as friendly/polished as would be expected. The clothing gift shop was tailored towards older women so we did not go in. Beach tables were not cleared as timely as I would have liked. A few more upgrades to room decor (such as a more usable chaise lounge instead of the love seat) would be appreciated. But there are clearly ongoing improvements being made. The Lounge furniture was in the process of an upgrade during our stay. We can't wait to return. Our kids would love it, but I selfishly want to keep this place to ourselves.

Hard to know where to begin. The compound greenery is breath taking, the Staff are friendly and very helpful without being intrusive, and the breakfasts are delicious with the options running the gamut from thoughtfully healthy to gastronomical joy. The beaches alone are worth the trip, and there is a wonderful pool. The on-site laundry is the height of convenience, and the nightly entertainment a delightful plus. It’s close to Christiansted but is a world of its own. We so look forward to our return trip!

My friend and I traveled to St. Croix and the Buccaneer for some much needed quiet time. Our first day there, we met with Jennifer in Concierge to plan our week of activities. She was fun, and knowledgeable about activities at the hotel and beyond. The of site restaurants which she recommended where great. She organized an island tour for us, guided by Peter. This gentleman has so much knowledge about the island, it's plants and history, it's amazing. Please ask for a tour with Peter, you will not be disappointed The hotel was clean, the food was good, but the staff was incredible. Everyone was always cheerful, and helpful. I hope you get a chance to meet Frances as your server. This woman is a delight Also, do not overlook the spa. The combo package with facial and massage is not to be missed. For the massage, Matt has magical hands Of course, how could I forget the weather!! Daytime 80's, night time 70's, low humidity This is a destination I will definately return to. Thank you to all who made my stay so wonderful.
