My only complaint is the 4 + hr layover in Miami on our way back. When I first got our itinerary I called and asked about the long layover. I was told it was because we had to go thru customs in Miami. Well, we went thru customs in St. Croix before we boarded.

Despite a beautiful property the service was inconsistent at best and several moments that were very, very poor. Some areas of the property were simply ignored by housekeeping including feces that were left in the main stairwell more than 24 hours. I regret the decision to stay at the Buccaneer.

Absolutly 1st class. Hotel is managed by a hands on manager/owner. The Buccaneer treats all of the guests as part of the Buccaneer family. The wine and snack basket delivered to your home upon arrival is a most welcomed treat. The golf course has many beautiful views of the island and ocean. I have stayed at The Buccaneer for the past 30 years and every year the improvements continue to enhance the experience.

The Buccaneer; warm hospitality and stellar service in stunning location!

I recently planned and attended an incentive trip (about a month ago) at the Buccaneer Resort St. Croix. What a beautiful island and the water is the most incredible blue!!! The Resort: The Buccaneer is iconic. I loved this stately resort with such rich history. The staff was welcoming and I appreciated the drink upon arrival! The lobby is cozy and inviting. the open air lobby and immediate view of the water is fantastic! I really appreciate the shuttle transportation that is available all around the resort. Especially because for some, it can be a walk to and from the beach and ocean front rooms! I used the work out room multiple times, fine equipment and room to do a decent workout. The Room: I stayed in the Great House and loved my ocean view room that was just steps away from the lobby restaurant and main hub. I travel often, and my bed at the Buccaneer was the MOST comfortable, I slept better than in my own bed!!! My balcony was a nice retreat. Housekeeping did a wonderful job tidying up every day. I appreciated the air conditioning after sitting in the lobby at a hospitality desk most days. The shower in my room was awesome! I like the Bee kind bath products too! The Service: I was most impressed by the service! The concierge Oceanna was incredibly helpful with our group, making suggestions for excursions, restaurant reservations, and general knowledge. The restaurant servers were among the most friendly and hospitable that I have ever met, and Pat took special care of us every evening for dinner (thank you Pat:). The GM Elizabeth is always around and checking on the resort operations, she was lovely and approachable! Nadia at the Front Desk helped us execute last minute shuttle vouchers for our group, and proved to be extremely helpful the entire stay (thank you:). Brad in banquets/event services took extra special care of us for our reception and dinner, from the lovely strand lights and palms to the beautiful flower arrangements that he crafted himself. Rebecca in sales was always available to answer questions and help find solutions. I know there are countless other individuals that were instrumental in making our stay the very best, and for that, I am grateful! The Food: I really enjoyed all my meals at the Buccaneer. Breakfast buffet was plentiful and had enough variety that I never had the same thing twice! Omelet station huge bonus. Dinners were fantastic; I had fish every evening, and I need gluten free options, which were easily accommodated (thank you!). The GF cheesecake that they made for me special (thank you Pat and pastry chef) was so delicious. Feedback: I think that the resort could use an update in furnishings in the main lobby (couches, chairs, etc.), beach chairs, room furnishings. There were areas of the exterior of the buildings that seemed run down; I will acknowledge that they are still recovering and repairing from the hurricane in the fall of 2017 and working diligently. I would also love to have the terrace restaurant open for lunch. There is the Grotto and Mermaid open for lunch, but because the resort is a drive from town, it would be nice to have another full service option. The Grotto was somewhat under construction, which was only slight inconvenience, it will be great to see it improved and finished.

The Buccaneer is truly the best!

Everything about this special place was beyond our expectations. The ocean front room was amazing. The beaches were gorgeous with lots of activities - we really enjoyed kayaking. A day trip to Buck Island was something I'll always remember. The staff at the resort are what really made it special by making us feel so welcome. It is a 5 star resort but they make you feel like family. Thank you Elizabeth Armstrong and all the Buccaneer staff. I look forward to returning for many years.

Came to St. Croix to visit our eldest son who was working on St. Croix and stayed at The Buccaneer based on Bill O’Reilly’s recommendation...Our expectations were low, as Caribbean islands and resorts never impressed me...but this historic resort pleasantly surprised us. St. Croix is one of the smaller, less developed islands and still has remnants of recent hurricane damage. Not much to do here, except relax and get some sun or snorkeling. The abandoned oil refinery is a sad sight and locals are anticipating a resurgence once new owners take it on. A former Sugar plantation, family owned since the 1940s, The Buccaneer was comfortable, unpretentious and felt good the moment we walked into the lobby. The decor and rooms were a bit tired, but that is one of the reasons it feels so comfortable! It is set next to a beautiful beach and natural surroundings with very hospitable Staff that made this a lovely holiday. We stayed in a newer bungalow, downhill from The Big House and enjoyed the sounds of waves hitting the shoreline and watching local wild life and lizards about the field and brush next to our room. A shuttle is provided for anyone unable to climb the hill to the restaurants, but by week’s end, I’m proud to say I had no problem with the workout. I also tried the Spa for a facial and it was nice, if not outstanding.... The food was excellent and we ate all but one meal there at the Resort. The Grille Night, served beachfront at The Mermaid, was our favorite...Delicious off the BBQ steaks or seafood with a fire show provided after sunset. We loved sitting in the one and only Cabana, on the beach...and only had one day of obnoxious Main Landers ruin the restful beach day with their drinking and loud, lewdness....The locals were lovely, polite and considerate people and have access to all beaches on St. Croix. I was frankly embarrassed by that group from the Main Land. But, all in all....a very nice stay and I’d recommend this resort to anyone visiting St. Croix.

Incredible hospitality from entire staff. Everyone and we mean everyone we encountered that worked at The Buccaneer made our stay enjoyable and very welcomed. The food was fantastic, the beaches were beautiful, the rooms were nicely maintained...but it was the staff who made our stay the most memorable. We are sure to be back and would highly suggest The Buccaneer.

An amazing world unto itself!

This is one of the most awesome vacations we have had (and we love traveling), all thanks to the Buccaneer, given we hardly stepped out of the property! We just didn’t have to- Ms Armstrong and her family has built such an amazing place - warm and beautiful, indeed a world unto itself. It’s big yet intimate. Luxurious yet not over the top. Our dear daughter is just 2.5 yrs old and she formed such an incredible bond with the place and each and every member of the staff. They were all so awesome. But i won’t write any names here - if I forget to name someone it will be a disservice to them. We spent a week there and at the end of it our little girl (and us) thought it’s home! We are vegetarians and they were super accommodative with every request. Also, the breakfast was complimentary yet awesome - which is rare :-) The world is big and we have so many places to see but we definitely see ourselves going back a few more times before our little girl grows up. Can’t wait to play tennis and golf this time! And this time see a little more of St Croix! PS: Hoping for a quick recovery and rehabilitation of US Virgin IslandS!
