Family holiday at Villa Firefly

We recently visited the hotel as a group of 6 and had an unbelievable experience. From the fantastic support of Chris at the Villa and the other Villa staff through to the service and friendliness of all the staff on the complex it was a fabulous trip. We were fortunate also to have booked in the week that Colin and Jamie were doing the Beach Fit. What a great experience and one we would definitely consider again. Something for everyone to do and definitely a top week of fun, food and relaxation.

Great hotel with loads to do

Stayed here for a week with my partner, the food was great, activities/ spa treatment were fantastic (though I didn’t like how at your free treatments staff are constantly trying to push expensive extras). Bedrooms could be nicer and more comfortable otherwise it was very good

A uniquely refreshing holiday

Having visited this place many times over ten years this is one place we are always sad to say goodbye to and promising ourselves a return as we depart. A significant percentage of guests are returners, enough said? DO ...get an ocean view room, ask for one that is recently refurbished. DO..book treatments on line before you arrive DO....if you play golf at nearby course which is now owned by Sandals and being upgraded by Greg Norman....if you want to play more than three games (you will play back nine twice)...ask for Monthly membership at just $186+$15 each for buggy, so $231 for 3 games. The pro shop say Management keep this much cheaper option hidden. Otherwise $100 a round. DO NOT travel on a Friday, roads through Castries and Rodney Bay become gridlocked during rush hour, will add 30 minutes to your transfer. Best day to travel is Sunday. FOOD...we tried Tao, nice service level, new menu but food isn't really up to much. Cariblue Windows so called fine dining also doesn't really work. DO not miss the Wednesday night Caribbean buffet in the Cariblue, also beach BBQ on Friday night! Our group without doubt found the buffet menus either in the Cariblue or Clubhouse the best food. House wines were not as good as last year. They appear to be trying to source 3 white plus 3 reds from one supplier....which by default means they can't all be equally good. Service levels and friendliness of all staff is superb. Hope this helps someone.

Lives up to its promise: Give us your body for a week, we'll give you back your mind

The Bodyholiday is an exceptional spot. Having visited dozens of Caribbean resorts, this is my favourite and one I intend to visit again. While I was intrigued but skeptical about its ambitious tag line "Give us your body for a week and we'll give you back your mind", that was absolutely true to my experience. As was explained on the welcome tour (a must), this is not just about a getaway, it's more about a reset/reboot for your life with impacts well after you leave. The whole resort design, service approach, size, classes and spa treatments are engineered to provide maximum relaxation and restoration in a short period of time. One key factor that works is the scale of the place - it feels small and intimate and is beautifully quiet so you start to feel like it's a second home. They've created a restorative culture, largely because of a very talented and especially warm staff complement. Everytime you turn around someone asks "are you ok? Do you need anything?" The fact that most guests I encountered were repeat visitors is a testament to the Bodyholiday's quality and delivery against its promise. I was somewhat apprehensive about traveling as a solo visitor but found the resort exceptionally welcoming and comfortable for singles. I also discovered something magical about traveling solo - you can truly do what you want, when you want without worrying about a companion's preferences or concerns. I was happy to discover this pleasure and enjoyed some great moments solo reading, doing exercise classes or swimming, combined with fantastic conversations with warm and welcoming people (mostly from UK) over meals. A perfect balance! The solo travellers are overwhelmingly independent professional women of all ages so there is an easy connection. As an entrepreneur in my mid-40s I met with lots of fascinating women and found we had a lot in common, including a few fantastic recently retired women I found inspiring and a ton of fun. If a woman is going to travel alone to a high end spa resort, that tells you something about the person right off the bat, so it's easy to connect among that community. A few do's and don't from my experience: DO: - Book your treatments in advance of your trip. It was not clear to me that this should be done. Consider the time of day that works for you - I liked relaxing outside in the am and going to the spa during the peak heat periods around lunch. - Make a reservation at the TAO restaurant (and be mindful there is a dress code) - Book a treatment with Tendril, the Bhuttanese massage therapist. This is extra as compared to the standard spa treatments but he is the best massage therapist I've encountered anywhere having tried dozens of them. I could not believe how much better I felt physically after treatment, and the benefits have held since I've been home. - Go on the sunset cruise. It was beautiful and fun ... not the drunken over the top party scene I've experienced in the Caribbean in my past experiences on such cruises. - Take the aquafit classes - Tevin is fantastic and I found the class's dance focus a ton of fun ... this is not for old ladies! It's a great workout and more like a club dance in the water - Wake up early for 7 am tai chi with Edwin. A lovely class and helped me discover a passion for tai chi which I will take home. - If you're single just go to the piano bar at 7 pm and then an informal group will form so you can meet folks and have dinner together. Very informal and a great system. - The food is excellent. For lunch, the best bet is the Cariblue salad bar which is awesome and then taking your plate next door to the more fun ambiance of the Clubhouse. - Hit the dance floor! DON'T - I would advise against the coconut spice treatment that is part of the included services and opt for something different. It's done in a common outdoor area with other people (men and women) which feels very awkward as you remove your top and are in a seated position. - The spa treatments are excellent but don't expect them to be personalized treatment for pre-existing conditions such as muscle pain. They are standard treatments and everyone gets the same. If you do have a specific condition or pain, then invest in the specialized treatment offered by more trained experts such as Tendril the Bhuttanese massage therapist. - Don't miss the free use of infrared "sauna" chairs. Many people don't know they are offered. - Don't skip a spa treatment without cancelling as otherwise the therapists don't get paid. - Don't bother with the included "medical assessment" as it's very disappointed and a waste of time and money. While the set up is made to look very clinical, it's a naturopath with a white lab coat and stethoscope who takes your blood pressure and then literally writes a prescription for their paid Ayurvedic treatments. He stressed to me I would need 8 of them as a package to do any good. Seriously disappointing, bordering on misleading. - Skip the "Windows" meal - it wasn't very good and the set up in the food service area of the Cariblue is quite awkward. - Avoid garden rooms with no balconies. I was originally in 613 which was really poor accommodation for the price point - a small beige box with messed up walls a small window and nothing on the walls. I was moved to a garden room with balcony and refreshed paint job which was much better. An ocean view would be ideal if you can afford it! Book your holiday - you won't be disappointed!
