Had a perfect stay at Sunshine Suites! Will be back!

Great hotel with beautiful grounds. The pool was very clean and the Sunshine Grill is amazing! Quick walk to the beach with a crosswalk, and the beach is perfect. White sand and clear water. The beds were so comfortable and the TV was great. Loved everything about our stay. Sad to be home.

Has some really great positives, but room badly needs renovating. Small changes could make this place fantastic!

Checked in for 7 nights as a family of 2 adults and 2 children. The property is nice from the outside, lovely garden areas with seating. Small pool onsite and the Sunshine Grill Restaurant, which we ate at twice (the food was very nice). This is a review of 2 halves! Firstly the positives of this hotel: Access to the Westin is BY FAR AND AWAY THE BIGGEST POSITIVE OF THIS PROPERTY. The Westin was fabulous. Couldn't fault it. The pool area is great, it has a lovely relaxed vibe and the bar and Tortuga restaurant were fabulous. It is right on the beach. The staff there are awesome, especially the doormen! There is a fab coffee shop next to the pool so you can go and buy cans of soda, croissants, salads, snacks etc without feeling like you have to go to one of the restaurants. The Westin is right across the street, literally 2 mins walk. You can charge everything to your Sunshine Suites room account. Other positives The free breakfast at Sunshine Suites is served in a little café onsite. It was really good, with cereals, coffee, juice, pastries, waffle maker, yoghurts, breads. It was completely self service and always well-stocked. We really enjoyed our daily trips here. There is a self service laundry room onsite (2 dollars for a wash, 2 dollars for a dry) and this was really handy. The whole property felt very safe. The air conditioning was very effective. Slightly noisy but this made for a quiet night's sleep. I am a very light sleeper and was only once disturbed by any neighbours. The negatives There is no lift. Although we knew this and wanted to be on the top floor, it was no fun lifting 3 heavy cases up to the 3rd floor! There was no offer of help for this either. The room was drab, dreary and dark. It has a dark green carpet which doesn't help. Even with the blinds fully open the room was very dark and we had to have lights on in the middle of the day. Although the room sleeps 4 (the beds are only doubles, not Kingsize), the dining table only seats 2. If we wanted to eat a quick lunch in the room 2 of us had to sit on the ends of the beds! It could so easily be improved with 4 smaller chairs instead of 2 armchairs. It describes the room as having a full kitchen. I would say the fridge was definitely full sized but everything else wasn't. It wasn't big enough to really prepare a meal, but was fine for using the cutlery and crockery. The bathroom was very small. You had to fully shut the door to be able to get in the bath as the toilet is totally in the middle of the room in the way. It was a bit of a pain with 2 small children. The bath and shower were ok, but could be updated. There was however lots of counter top space and an abundance of fresh towels. Housekeeping was often late in the day (around 4pm) when we were just coming in from a day at the pool/beach. There is absolutely nowhere to dry your wet swimming gear. Hence lots of guests hung them over the railings to the outside of the property. Practical, but didn't make the property look great! This could have been solved by just putting some airers or rails at the end of each corridor or one in the room. Clothes wouldn't have dried in the room as there is no outside space and the bathroom was windowless. The wardrobe is completely open and only came with 5 hangers. Not a problem, we could have asked for more, but the fact that it was completely open just made the room look a complete mess as we had clothes, inflatables, water toys, shoes etc for 4 people spilling out of it! Would have been nice to have shut it away. The rooms are very outdated. Minimal spend could completely transform this place and lighten and brighten it up. Better storage, lighter décor, new table and 4 chairs and a revamp of the kitchen area would improve it no end. one of the sockets was coming off the wall (I could have pulled it off). Another socket had one slot completely melted and sealed up. Finally, we were checking out for a 12 hour flight so asked if we could check out 4 hours late. We were told they were full so had to check out at 12 noon. All week we had been commenting on how many of the suites were empty. A lot of them had lights and tvs left on all week, as if they were for show....but they were not occupied. 10 mins later we went down again to ask and offered to pay. Funnily enough, for a charge of 50 dollars we were then allowed a late check-out. After spending thousands with them it felt a bit much that they wouldn't do this until we offered to pay!!!!! As I said, in terms of the Westin access this place would get 5* from me, but given the quality of the actual accommodation (which is what I'm rating, not the Westin) I have to give it 3*. I would love to go back if Starwood decide to invest in the Sunshine Suites and renovate it, it deserves it!

Very Nice boutique hotel

We loved our stay at the Sunshine Suites Resort, it's a small quaint place with a nice pool, great restaurant, and lots of places to sit and relax on the lawn, they even have a corn hole game, the continental breakfast was perfect for us. The fact that you even have the option of walking right across the street to the Westin beach is amazing also. I would highly recommend staying here!

We stayed one night at the Sunshine Suites. We often stay here when we arrive too early for check in to our condo. Always a pleasant experience with helpful and friendly staff. Front desk personnel were extremely helpful this trip as we had lost baggage and had issues to contend with. The restaurant is one of our favorites and we usually are there a couple meals during the week. Nice comfortable rooms with a nice little sitting, kitchenette area.

Lovely hotel and staff-- Would definitely stay here again, but book earlier to get a larger room. We had a family of 4 in a room with 2 queen beds; fine for a night or two, but not longer (for me). We loved the restaurant- Sunshine Grill and ate 3 meals there. Terrific every time. Huge bonus to have access to all of the Westin amenities too!
