Big up Alex!

Beautiful and cozy resort, with amazing food, a nice beach and exceptional service from every single employee; especially Alex, our favourite bartender, who made our trip especially special. He also made amazing cocktails and martinis and always hooked up the good music! Only issue, as in all of Negril, we’re the mosiquitos and the reggae crab trying to impose on my night swim. Didn’t even want to write a review because I selfishly want this place kept a secret.

Tropical Hidden Gem

My fiancé and i had a wonderful, relaxing vacation at Sunset at the Palms. This resort is a small piece of paradise hidden in the Jungle of Negril. The resort has a beautiful landscape with lush foliage that’s maticliousy manacured. The tree house bungalows are romantic and quaint, equipped with a balcony perfect for morning coffee and reading a good book on the chaise lounge. The beach is a short walk across the street from the resort, which seems odd at first, but you quickly get used to it. The ocean is crystal clear and because you are on the bloody bay side, the water is calm with little to no waves. There is plenty of space on the beach, so you do not feel crowded by other guests. A little slice of heaven is right next door at the Office Of Nature, where they catch fresh lobster and grill it for you on the spot. Try a Dragon Stout while you are there, it’s delicious. The food at the resort is good. I am not much of a Buffet person, but found it to be decent. The Lotus Leaf restaurant and Chef Showcase were very good. I only wish I could have eaten at these restaurants more than once. :) At night, we thoroughly enjoyed sitting at the Piano bar and singing along with Paul. He’s a Gem! The other entertainment was good, but i wish the resort explores other options. There is a guitarist/singer on the beach named, Donovan Darlymple, who’s fabolous and a guest favorite who would be a great candidate for nightly entertainment. Perhaps, he could fill in on the nights Paul is off. What makes this resort so special, though, is the people. Everyone that works here treats you as if you are friends and family. Whether ithey are the house keeper, groundsmen, or server, you are always greeted with a smile and a “hey Mon!” Special mention goes out to Headley, the grounds keeper who took us on an amazing nature tour. He showed us the different flowers and trees and then quizzes us at the end. He’s very charming. Sinford, Head server and bartender was very sweet and makes a killer spicy Bloody Mary. And last but not least, Oshaine, at the martini lounge was always a good time. We loved watching him sing with Paul.

This was the second time we have been to this resort and it was amazing yet again. They made us feel really special for being returning guests. This resort is a very quiet relaxing place the staff are exceptional there was one gardener who made me little bunches of flowers and prepared coconuts for us. Also one of the chefs Ronway went out of his way to make us welcome. The food is great, the accommodation fantastic and you won’t find a better beach anywhere. We went on two excersions which were both great and very well organised. If you want a luxurious relaxing holiday I would highly recommend this resort. Thank you sunset at the palms for making our holiday so special.

Wonderful Destination Wedding & Vacation Spot!
Wed Sep 19 19:11:14 EDT 2018
My husband and I were married late July at SATP and we couldn't have picked a better place! Everyone was so welcoming and friendly, our group of 26 enjoyed themselves and all SATP had to offer! We were encouraged to write a review so others looking for a wedding destination would have more to go off of. Because of the stock images, clunky website and lack of other wedding reviews I was very hesitant to book our wedding here but am so glad we took a chance. Her review: Wedding: - Carla and her staff went above and beyond to make things special for us and accommodate our requests. We were going to get married at 11am on the beach but the day before we noticed how many people were on the beach at the same time, with music coming from the resort bar as well as musicians down the beach. The wedding would have been right in the middle of it all, and while it would have been beautiful, we were looking for something more intimate. Ultimately, we were married in one of the gazebos and it was beautiful and private as we wanted. - We had tables set up in the buffet area with our cake so that we could enjoy everyone's company while we were all dressed up and it was very personalized and special as well - The photographers took so many wonderful pictures, it was hard to narrow them down! - My mom, sister and I all got hair and makeup done and the ladies all did a good job. One tip I would recommend is to discuss what hairstyle you want along with pricing ahead of time. My sister has medium/long hair and got beach waves and they charged $90! My mom has short hair that was curled under and they charged $90! We weren't in a negotiating mood that day so we paid it without complaint but I would highly suggest discussing it all ahead of time. Grounds: - The grounds are beautiful! Very lush and green, you feel like you're nestled away in a tropical paradise. - The beach was the best in the bay! Clean, beautiful and plenty of seats for everyone. - Gym facilities were what I'd expect and it was nice to have a spacious place to get a decent workout in. Food: - We were quite pleased with all of the food options to choose from. We did eat at the buffet and beach grill the most and found everything delicious. If you expect a gourmet meal you're probably going to be disappointed. Rooms: - We stayed in 404 and the view from our balcony faced towards beautiful grounds and greenery for miles. - Rooms are quaint and comfortable. - Two biggest drawbacks - lack of bathroom lighting and no full door on the bathroom (there are slats so you can see through it and hear everything). We survived but they're easy enough changes I hope the resort considers making these upgrades. Another tip, if you're booking direct with the resort: - Since we had a large group booking I worked closely with the reservations area and they didn't have online payment options. Everyone had to fill out a paper form with their credit card number and send it along with a picture of their photo ID and credit card front and back. Luckily I had access to a secure network but having the ability to do it all online would have helped our guests feel more secure with their personal information. All of the staff were wonderful and regrettably we didn't write down all of their names but a huge shout out to Carla for making our wedding day so beautiful, special and stress-free; Kerry, Carson and Nepal for serving great drinks all week with a smile and personal touch. His review: Food: - The food was better than expected and the buffet, which became the default place to eat, was entirely acceptable. It could get a little repetitive for some after several days, but I had no issue with it. - The beach bar grill was a great place for a snack, but the experience depended on who was working. We had one uninspired person regularly attending the grill but everyone else was great. Drinks: - Good selection of alcohol. Beer was only Red Stripe or Red Stripe light, but if you accept that as part of the experience it was fine. - There is not a big party atmosphere here, which was exactly what we wanted. No pool activities and activity coaches or any of that nonsense. Rooms: - The rooms are freestanding units with one attached neighboring unit. They are nestled in the trees, and while not overly large, they are very comfortable. Walk out patio with a daybed and tranquil views. - The main drawback was there is no true bathroom door - to be clear there is a door, but its kind of like lattice work. Also if you have loud neighbors it was very easy to hear them talking, etc.. - The other consideration as others have noted is that for a couple hours in the late evening you could hear the pool bar band from our room (room 404). This wasn’t an issue for us, but it could be some. The others in our group in the 500 – 600 numbered rooms had no issue. Just ask for a room further back if this is a concern to you. Beach: - Really liked the beach. Not a lot to see as far as snorkeling but they had the obligatory free kayaks, etc. Very nice sand, plenty of chairs and shade. Also really liked the musicians that would play (tips appreciated) along the water’s edge. - As far as vendors, the resort is adjacent to what appeared to be a “vendor’s mile” of tents. I think the resort did a good balance of allowing them to roam the resort’s beach property and try to sell stuff, but at the same time keeping them from becoming annoying. It was a good balance. Yes there are people peddling drugs as well as everything else. But no one was pushy. Just ignore them, its not something to get worked up about. - The beach bar and grill is big enough that if it started to downpour, everyone could gather inside. This was nice. - There was a small walk to the beach from the resort, but this was less of a walk than at some large mega resorts. Spa: - Had a massage at the spa and it far exceeded the mediocre massages available where I’m from. Highly suggest it. The setting in the curtained cabana outside is also nice. Employees: - With only a couple exceptions, almost everyone was great. Especially Kerry, Carson, the spa ladies, Carla, Nepal, the photographers, and the wait staff in the buffet. I did catch myself wondering how well the resort treats their employees that you don’t interact with, such as the cooks. I had the impression that the resort puts a lot of pressure on the employees to make sure the guests have a good time, and for the most part I think everyone genuinely tried to do that. I just hope this is authentic and that the resort treats their employees well also. Overall this place is great. Much better than any Mexican all-inclusive I’ve been to. If on the off chance you do get bored after several days, there is plenty to do off-resort. For those of you afraid about security or safety, this is not something to worry about. Go and have a good time.

Stayed for 7 days, wished we could have stayed longer. This place is amazing, we were treated like royalty by the most amazing staff. The food and drinks were awesome although it was great healthy food , be prepared to go on a diet when you return home!! The gardens and surroundings were beautifully maintained and many plants had names on them, the groundsmen were great and explained all about the plant species . The room was great and the king size bed was so comfortable. Loved the magic bar fridge that kept replenishing itself! The beach was white sand and the sea was crystal clear with no seaweed, the staff on the beach went out of their way to make sure we were looked after and we felt very special. It is a place to just chill out and relax. Best holiday we have ever had, we will definitely be returning next year.
