An organic herb garden is located on the hotel grounds as well. The waste from these fruits and vegetables are then given to local pig farmers. Glass bottles, plastic bottles, cardboard, paper, metal, aluminum, and stainless steel are also separated for recycling.

Each concierge is also trained to provide general information about Negril from a tour guide's perspective. It's a level of service not seen anywhere else!

Sunset at the Palms features a trendy new design, sumptuously appointed guestrooms, new amenities, and lush landscaping. Just 85 "treehouse-style" guestrooms stand in a ten-acre tropical garden, a design praised by Architectural Digest. And it's all just steps from the resort's five acres of oceanfront property and two miles of pure white Negril beach, hailed as the most blissful beach in Jamaica. Explore Jamaica's flora and fauna on a nature walk with "Shorty," the resident gardener, and enjoy an afternoon Mimosa Hour. From the martini bar to the beach, Sunset at the Palms delivers the best of Jamaica's fun-loving spirit, beauty, and endless charm.

The Palm Breeze Beach Bar & Grill has sandwiches and Jamaican jerk favorites, with Red Stripe beer or other cool refreshments to wash them down.

At the pool? Swim up to the Bamboo Bar to refresh your spirits or pull up a stool after dark for a tropical drink before the night begins. Enjoy an afternoon of live music at the Martini Lobby Bar or join friends to sip a signature martini before dinner.

The resort also offers a "Try Dives" program, which allows guests to go scuba diving in the pool on a daily, complimentary basis. Be sure to check out Jamaica-Rama while you're in the area so that you can enjoy theme nights, movies in the pool, cooking classes, and more (available until October 2018)!

A Little Piece of Heaven on Earth!!

Sunset at the Palms Resort far exceeded my expectations! I will definitely stay here again upon my return. From the time I stepped on the resort until I departed, I felt like I was at home. The hospitality was superb! I highly recommend this resort!

We vacation with another couple and have high standards for our final choice of vacation spots. We were so thrilled with the laid back, quiet, simplicity of Sunset at the Palms. Because there weren't 500 people staying at this resort we received excellent personalized service. The staff was went out of their way to accommodate our needs, but did not hover, allowing us our privacy. The facility is small and gave us the feeling of being in the rain forest with our individual cabins. Highlights include Paul, "the piano man" in the martini bar sharing his talents. Alvin, a personable hard-working young man we enjoyed talking with everyday. Finally, the beautiful white sanded beach and turquoise water with not a wave in sight. This resort isn't for the "party all nighters, but for the adults looking for a relaxing, quiet vacation.

It was decent but I would not stay here again. My girlfriend was eaten up by bedbugs and had to go to the Dr to diagnose and get something for the itching. The choices of food were not the greatest and was not available all day. Been to much better places. Was disappointed.

Not Impressed with Apple Vacations.
Jan 15 2017
Apple website was misleading, hotel is not on the beach and the beach that it has access to is not "7 mile beach". Bathroom had NO bathroom door, had to change rooms. Room had view of a concrete slab construction site. AC in the room did not work properly, room fridge was not restocked by staff. The restaurants were rarely available for us to use, and we had to eat at the buffet (which was average). Food at the beach bar was disgusting. Had problems with the water sports office, charged us for a sailboat lesson that we didn't take and wouldn't refund the charge.

We really did enjoy the facilities. Thought there could have been a few more bells and whistles for the 5 golden apples. However the Apple staff at the airport was extremenely unorganized and uniformed. They really had no idea what was going on.

Me and my wife's vacation to Sunset at the Palms for our birthdays was our second trip there. It was everything we expected, exceptional vacation. The staff was so friendly, the food was dliscious, and the beach was clean. The only complaint we have, which we should have expected do to the dense garden surrounding the rooms, were the amount of lizards and bugs in our room each day/night. This often caused us to lose much sleep hearing them scattering around and often waking to get a few bugs out of the room. Also, we will try not to fly Delta again, the trip home was on time, but on the way down the pilots were 45 minutes late on our first flight causing us to miss our connection out of Atlanta by fifteen minutes and forcing us to wait an additional 5 1/2 hours to catch the next connecting flight. Overall it was a great trip, this being our second time to SATP.

A Wonderfully Unique Hotel

We have traveled to many countries and hotels around the world but, never have experienced anything like Sunset at the Palms. The bungalows are nestled in the gardens of the property, making it feel like you are staying in the jungle. You are always surrounded by trees, palms, flowers, and tranquility. Falliing asleep and waking up to nature was truly amazing. The rooms are clean, fashionably updated, making you feel like you are staying in luxury. The property is always well manicured and the hotel itself is well taken care of. I highly recommend Sunset at the Palms.

The resort was beautiful. The only issue we had was on the beach the close contact with the locals who were constantly allowed to hound you to buy products. It gets frustrating quickly.

Coolest little spot in Bloody Bay

My husband & I booked a trip here in July 2018 and we absolutely loved it!! The treehouse style rooms gave us the "jungle feel" and just a short stroll across the street was where the awesome beach was located! Great bar on the beach along with a grill which was perfect after lounging on the beach each morning. We would walk the beach each morning, then hang out all day in a little slice of heaven. Relaxation at it's best!! Also, right beside "our" beach was Office of Nature which we would go hang out at before going back to the resort & I ate some of the best lobster of my life, right out of the water & cooked on Dynamite's outdoor grill! After a spectacular day enjoying the beach, we would head back to the resort & chill in the pool for awhile before going back to our room for showers and going to eat some awesome food served every night & staff were so friendly & accommodating to our every need! 80 rooms vs. 400 was just what we were looking for and would definitely go back in a heartbeat!!

We chose SATP becuase of the rave reviews it received here on Tripadvisor. We had an enjoyable trip but will probably not stay here in the future. To put my review in perspective - this is our first trip to Jamaica however we have been to various places in Mexico 5-6 times and have stayed at everything from 2 star to 5 star. We knew there were a few small things that might keep this from being 5 star so our expectations were not super high however we did have a few unexpected disappointments. The good: *Beautiful setting, loved the treehouse-like rooms and the balconies. That is unique and you don't see that everywhere. *Sand and water at the beach were stellar! *Great jerk chicken at the pool bar (though we don't have anything to compare it to) *We felt very safe and secure with a high presence of security at all time. They also request your room number and destination every time you exit the main gate. *Great A/C - ours did freeze up one day but someone was there to fix it literally within10 minutes and by 30 minutes it was cool and comfortable again. *I was fully prepared for the bugs/mosquitos because I ALWAYS get bit but I didn't need it at all! I did burn a citronella candle on our balcony some - but never broke into the bug spray. Never felt the need - and our room did NOT have glass! Still comfortable cool and no bites! *Loved the live music every night! Piano bar was good, but also really like the live music near the pool, especially when they played reggae - it is Jamaica after all! The bad: *We did not get the "family" feel that some people seem to rave about. Most everyone was somewhat friendly but some people barely smiled or acknowledged us when providing service (coffee shop, some restaurants). However we were only there 4 nights so maybe that is just not enough time. *The food was ok but not great. Again for perspective we have been spoiled at some of the larger resorts in Mexico that have a ton of options at all hours and where some of the food was truly top notch - that is not the case here. The buffet was fine when we ate it - really nothing special at all which is not what I want on vaca. The beach grill had great jerk chicken but the fish tacos were just ok. Nothing special. We did both the Chef's Dinner & the Lotus Leaf restaurant and were really not wow'd at either. Nothing was really wrong but it just wasn't what we were hoping for. They also didn't have food available all the time (at least not much) which is also not what we were used to so just be prepared that it is a small resort and that food is limited. *Mini bar was sad... literally 2 bottles of water, 2 bottles of soda and 4 beers. It looked empty and I wished there were at least some more choices. Fill that sucker up so we have something to choose from. *Beware of the water sports people. We borrowed snorkles one day - the main worker was across the fence at the other building so she had a worker just write down our room number and give me the gear. We went on an outside excersion with the gear and made it back to the resort right at 7pm because we ran into a rainstorm(which is when the beach closes). The security guard met us there at the beach and said the watersports people had been so worried about our gear. LOL. When we went back into the main gate security said the same thing - we were worried about your gear! Not about us but the gear. When I turned in the gear the next day (they were closed when we got back) she told me we were not supposed to take the gear off of the property but we had no idea. They also quoted me a price of $600 for us to take an excursion via private boat to Booby Cay and Rick's Cafe. The guys at Sunbaby took us for $100!!! I tipped them well. They were great - I will review them separately. *Hot water in the shower was great however the 5 extra heads were pointless because they were so clogged. Regular shower was fine though. Overall - very nice trip. We loved that it was small and intimate and even though it could have been better in some ways it was memorable and unique. Glad we went!

Perfectly wonderful relaxing vacation

We just came back from 5 nights at Sunset at the Palms. It is hard to refrain from using the words “great” and “wonderful” too much. If you want a huge resort where you are one of hundreds of couples, with non-stop activities, this is not the place for you. With just 85 rooms and the most beautiful beach, the resort is unique among the big resorts up and down the beach. It is a place to relax, lie on the beach, read and chat with other folks—some of whom have been coming back for years. The staff is wonderful and plentiful. Everyone is happy to help. There are two rooms to a “treehouse” and they do not share a wall. The treehouses are staggered so you look mainly at the beautiful foliage. The beach is across the street but that is really not a problem at all. There is always a crossing guard and the 2 minute walk is lovely. The beach is outstanding. There are some palapas for shade but even better are the trees that provide shade as well. Unlike the big resorts with row after row of lounges, our beach had plenty of room and staff to help with chairs and drinks. One of the staff came by each day to brush sand off our lounges!! Food is good, occasionally very good. We like to always go different places each year but we have already decided to return next January. This was a perfect, relaxing vacation.

A rocky start, but a good recovery with just a few of the same issues others have mentioned

Wife and I recently returned from our first visit to Jamaica and obviously our first visit to Sunset at the Palms. SATP is a somewhat hidden gem. A small adults only all inclusive resort set in the beautiful Jamaican forest, but only steps from a beautiful beach and an amazing sunset each evening. Our start at the resort was a little rocky. When we arrived on Sunday afternoon the 30th of December, we were told there was no room at the inn. Appeared that the reservation system over booked the resort and there was not a room available for us until New Years Day. Sharon and the SATP staff had however apparently recognized the problem in advance of our arrival and had booked a room for us at one of the nearby mega resorts. They took us over there, ensured were were checked in and properly cared for and promised to pick up up on New Year's Eve so we could enjoy the party at SATP and then to pick us up on 1 Jan and bring us back to SATP where we would remain for the balance of our scheduled stay. They followed through on that promise and we had a nice NYE celebration with the other SATP guests and our room was ready on 1 Jan as promised. So on with my review: The good: The staff, the beach, the beach bar and grill, the setting, the spa staff and their services (great massages), Many have mentioned Paul the piano player and he is an absolute GEM! Sitting in the martini bar around the piano and singing along with Paul was a great evening highlight. Beach barbecue night with the DJ/performer and the bonfire was beautiful. The Lotus Leaf and the Chef's experience were also nice events. Some of the not so good: A tendency to overcook the meat. On several occasions including the NYE celebration, lovely cuts of meat were overcooked and dry. My pork chop at the Lotus Leaf was dry, but my wife's beef tenderloin was perfectly cooked as she requested. The lack of windows on the units. Our room was near the road and we did not have windows on our unit. A few of the others nearby did, but ours did not. Windows on the units need to be the standard across the resort. The screens and louvers keep the bugs out and keep most of the AC in, but the road noise and loud music from the pool bar at night go right through. We spoke with other guests who had been coming there for up to 10 years and they all said that the promise of windows has been an ongoing broken promise for all that time. The out of date internet: The internet that was supposed to be available from our room barely existed and the internet access across the entire resort is old technology, with multiple AP names and several password possibilities. The whole system needs to be redone and it would not be hard or expensive to do. Overall maintenance: As others in the past have pointed out, there are little maintenance issues that have an affect on some and not on others. Our hot water heater appeared to have been there since the place was built and the hot water only lasted about 5 minutes. Being proactive on completing Corrective and Preventative Maintenance schedules will go along way toward correcting some of these issues. Last thing I will mention is the mattresses, at least ours was hard and needed upgrading. By the end of our week there sleeping at night started to become difficult on that mattress. Final thoughts: SATP has the potential to receive 5 start ratings from every single guest that walks in the doors if they just take some time, energy and money and invest in some of the things your guests have so eloquently pointed out to in previous reviews. You have everything else you need, A beautiful and unique setting, amazing caring and attentive staff and a one of a kind concept in Jamaica. My wife and I will not stay in another mega resort if we have an option like this available to us, where they truly care about your experience and you leave feeling like you are leaving family behind that you cannot wait to come and see again in the future. Thank You to Mrs. Powell the manager and the entire staff at SATP for making our experience what it was and kindling our desire to return to Jamaica soon.
