Entertainment staff is fabulous!

We had so much at this resort! We were with a group of 40 divers from Colorado. I was one of the 3 non-divers and I had no problem enjoying quiet time on the beach while the others were diving. The snorkeling from the beach outside the hotel was great and I saw so many different kinds of fish. There are also water activities available. There were always plenty of lounge chairs at the beach and pool each day. I liked the unlimited access to beach towels which is such a plus. (Most resorts will only check out one per person at time, per day.) The food servers, bartenders, cleaners and front desk were great. But a shout out to the Entertainment crew.. wonderful!! And really seemed to enjoy their job. Though they could change up their pool side dance songs a bit...we are still humming some of the tunes a week later.. hahah. But they put on a fantastic Halloween party with costumes, haunted house and dance numbers and a huge buffet. They had Monday night football on a big screen for us Broncos fans (we won't talk about the score though). They had a Foam party one night and also hosted a nice private dinner on the beach just for our group. The food options are limited but still good. There is always at least one restaurant open but the lunch/snack one by the main pool doesn't offer much of a variety even though we really liked what we ate. Portafina opened while we were there and it is good too. The room was clean and no issues there. The fridge was stocked with a few soft drinks and water bottles each day. The tropical space/grounds between the buildings and walk was lush and beautiful. Our room (in Villa 31) was just feet away from the beach and very close to the bar and main pool. But not too close to hear the music from the pool area. There are some issues with hot water in the shower. The hotel allowed a few souvenir vendors on the grounds that guests can choose to stop and visit with so there were no random pushy, beach vendors approaching during relaxing time (unlike what we experienced in Puerta Vallarta) The drinks were great and I don't think we experienced too much watering down issues. Try a mango daiquiri ..yum! I hear the spa is fabulous and I'm bummed we didn't take advantage of the services they offered (hydro therapy sounds wonderful). We would have no problem coming back to this resort or recommending to others. It's very affordable; not snooty and had a charming and comfortable atmosphere. The dated decor just added to the charm...it's not the Ritz!

Went to this resort with another couple and it was about what I expected. Ride from the airport is not very long, so that's a good start. Check in was easy, but the rooms are dated. There were pieces of glass missing in the bathroom mirror. The maids would also not give you enough towels or wash cloths. Had to call every day to get more. Big positive for the room was the AC. Most resorts I've been to never cool down, they always seem humid and sticky. We actually got cold most nights. They don't have many restaurants there, but the food is pretty good. El Patio was our favorite. Franqui made the night very entertaining. The drinks are very weak and watered down though. Not much entertainment at night though. One thing we found out way too late was you can basically use the much nicer Secrets resort next door for a small price. We could eat at any of the restaurants there as long as we bought a bottle of wine. We saw people walking between the 2 resorts all day. Would recommend spending part of your trip at Secrets. The pools at Sabor are good and the beach overall isn't bad. They did have plenty of things to try like kayaks, snorkeling, or paddle boards. Too many rocks in the water though so be sure to bring some shoes to wear out. Overall it was about what we expected for the price. If you don't mind spending more, definitely stay at Secrets next door. I believe Secrets is adult only but Sabor is kid friendly. There is an area that kids have which would be nice if parents need a break.

Me, and 4 friends, came to this resort for a Bachelorette party. We knew we booked a budget property--and overall it delivered what I expected. It is NOT a luxury place--but the restaurants we good (especially the Mexican and Pizzaeria), and I personally liked the bungalow style buildings with thatched roof. And I'd never been to Cozumel before, so I was expecting rocky beach (definitely bring Swim Shoes if you plan to go in the water directly from the beach), but I also thought they had a good stretch of sand to walk and sea shell hunt. The few complaints that is common throughout this thread--we found to be true. This place NEEDS some TLC and basic maintenance. This good be seriously a great budget friendly property--if they did some serious up keep. The room décor is dated--but I don't care about that. I do care that the balcony doors don't need two people to open cuz they are so rusted, or chucks on clay tile lying all over. Over by the pool area bathrooms there was "construction" items just left for days (I never saw anyone over there), and I had almost stepped on rusty nails MULTIPLE times. Another draw back for our particular party was the alcohol. Unless your drank beer, or wine--we all felt the drinks were WELL watered down-or just not strong. We all could be biased being from Wisconsin. Honestly--we all were comfortable with the quality of the property until ALL the "public" bathrooms were out of order for 3 days. We had to go back to our rooms EVERYTIME to use the restroom--and it always the same issue of them "backing up". Just reiterated the problem of some basic maintenance to the place. And honestly--that's what turned the tide for our group to ever recommend this place--to never recommending it. Because we're an easy going group, we made the best of our stay and had a good time. The staff we encountered were very friendly and fun. The restaurants overall were decent/good. I would not recommend this place UNLESS they do some serious face lifting in the maintenance department--I would've really liked it other wise.

This has been by far one of my least favorite vacations. Upon arrival at the hotel we were not greeted with a cold towel and a fresh drink, as is customary with the AM Resorts. Check in was quick enough and the staff at the check in were pleasant. About the rooms: We were upgraded to the preferred section, which only means that the room a bit larger than the non preferred section. The room was outdated, mold around the tub, shower gel dispenser was empty when we arrived. I requested to have it filled and it never was. Luckily we had packed a mall bottle of shower gel. We had to request wash clothes as there were non, only had it one day! Guess they were in short supply. Pools: Never went into the pool. There are only two. Both pools had black mold in the tiles, which was visible. That grossed me out! The beach had a lot of sea weed, but it was clean and water was warm. Food: Hated the food. No varieties during breakfast, lunch and dinner. Was going out of my mind seeing the same food day after day. My friend and I left the hotel one day just so we could find some good Mexican food and good drinks. That was a nice experience. Bar: The bartenders weren't all that excited about their job, or so it seemed. The drinks were terrible, even the margaritas. They definitely do not have top shelf liquor and all drinks were watered down, even the rum and coke, which I opted to drink since everything else was so bad. I'm not even a drum and coke drinker. Staff at restaurants: The staff was pleasant. Shout out to Jorge from the restaurant El Patio. He was attentive and pleasant. Entertainment: I give it a **+. Spa: Was delightful. There isn't too much to do at this resort. The excursions are limited and the ones that may be worth it are very expensive. The fridge in the room was not stocked when we arrived, we had to request for it to be done. They don't provide much anyway. Lastly, they don't provide room service!! Overall, if you are looking for excitement, great entertainment, great food and drinks, this is not the resort for you.

lovely place

just returned from our 2nd visit to Sunscape Sabor & again very happy with our stay. 1st night we stayed in room overlooking the gardens & it had been renovated so was a lot nicer than than the room we had last year, though when air con off it did smell musky! & still in need of more plug sockets.. We were then upgraded to a junior suite overlooking the smaller ( & quieter pool ) which was lovely, so much more space. Will definitely have suite again. Only NEGATIVE is that the internal door linking to the adjoining suite ( for large family groups etc ) although locked is NOT sound proof. We could hear the safe being used and word perfect what the couple in the next suite were saying if they were in that area of the door!!! It didn't cause us problems but depending on the guests in there it could! Staff on reception very good and we were NOT hounded to go on the Hotel Tour to get $200 spa voucher/ sign up to limited club etc... They called our room once but as I knew it was for that I ignored it.. Walked through reception several times a day and was never asked about it.. The maid service very good, our room was cleaned each day to a good standard and happily left a dollar or 2 tip each day. Only had to ask for our water to be replenished at reception once.. after that our fridge was always full of water and other drinks. The food was very nice and tasty, though 1st week limited as the 2 main buffet restaurants were closed for refurbishment ( annoyingly ) but really enjoyed the food we had. On our 2nd week Portifino re-opened and the food there was delicious, lots of choice. I'm now vegetarian & there was plenty of veg based options! NEGATIVE... only place for breakfast so anytime past 8.30 and it very busy ( queuing to be seated ) then to find many things had run out & not replenished quick enough... though I'm sure this only temporary. The service from the waiting staff was very good, attentive & very polite and friendly. Only once I not leave a tip at the end of our meal as the staff member seemed distracted and our plates not cleared till after our dessert or were we asked if more wine/water needed. ( but hey, we all have off days ) Entertainment team were great and the evening shows etc very good. The beach is amazing with really good snorkeling. Also enjoyed watching the family of Pelicans flying up and down & diving in for their food. I love Cozunel and really like this Resort and hoping to return here as often as I can! If it 5* luxury and gourmet dining you're after this is not the place for you. However this resort is 5* to us. Perfect location, Beautiful well kept grounds, comfortable, clean rooms, fabulous friendly staff, delicious food and great for off the beach snorkeling... Ticks all our boxes in what we want/ need for a great holiday!
