The Sunscape Dorado is a very nice resort but very small as in there is no open green spaces just resort after resort. The one restaurant Blue Water has very good food and wonderful service by the staff but the buffet was not very good. Entertainment every evening was good, they try very hard to keep everyone busy during the day but the pool is very small so it was crowded most of the time. Pool chairs were hard to find as everyone put towel on them and disappear. No security band when you check in so not sure where all the people came from just made you wonder if they just came off the beach as the weekend was just packed. I guess it's not a bad resort but we have been to large ones and the beauty of Mexico didn't show in Ixtapa More>

My friends and I stayed at Sunscape Dorado Pacifico Ixtapa for one week in April 2016. We travelled with Sunwing and they did a fantastic job of accommodating us during our stay. To begin with, I would 100% recommend Ixtapa over Puerto Vallarta if you are planning on staying on the west coast. The water is warmer, more clear, and fun to swim in. The beaches are absolutely pristine with far less people trying to sell you timeshares etc. The Sunscape Dorado Pacifico was perfect for our stay. It was clean, well maintained, and the food was delicious. Make sure not to miss the house-made tortilla chips with fresh salsa and guacamole at the Bluewater Grill for lunch. The staff are fantastic!! Antonio and Ramundo were two of our favorite drink staff and Jesus and Alejandro from the entertainment team were hilarious and very friendly. Daily beach volleyball was one of our favorite activities. The rooms were very clean and the fridge was restocked daily with pop, water, and beer. I think all of the rooms have at least a partial ocean view which was fantastic. We had a room on the side of the building and we still had a great view of the beach! The only downside (very very minor) was that there was no champagne or sparkling wine which meant no mimosas! I think it's safe to say that when no champagne is your biggest complaint, it is a pretty amazing resort. We had an incredible trip and I would come back in a heartbeat. More>

For our 25th we booked this resort thru Apple Travel. It was our first trip to the West Coast of Mexico. The area is just beautiful with the mountains framing the coastline. We learned from some of the locals that Ixtapa was developed specifically for the tourist industry and it shows it. The infer structure is fantastic. The city is well laid out and easy to get around in. Arriving at the resort was another pleasant surprise. The grounds are clean and well groomed while the lobby sparkles. We had booked the Sunscape Club upgrade and were greeted by Ricardo for our smooth as glass registration process. I recommend this perk. Our room was on the 16th (actually the 6th) floor with a fantastic view of the ocean and the beach. The room has a king bed and a daybed as well as a small table and chairs and a nice veranda for sitting and watching the sunset or sunrise or just sunning and chilling. Over the next 7 days we spent each evening after dinner at the Sunscape Lounge visiting with other guests and enjoying the perks. Elizabeth and Ricardo, the Guest Services folks in the Lounge are fantastic folks, easy to talk to, eager to assist in any way and very friendly. The staff in general were all very friendly, eager to please and assist, all in clean pressed uniforms. A real treat to interact with. The food on a whole was good, well seasoned, well cooked and tasty. My only complaint about the food would be - there needs to be more variety as for the most part the choices are somewhat limited. The wait staff was over the top friendly and quick to respond to any request. The entertainment was generally good and the staff very enthusiastic. The music was loud at times, especially in the evenings when us old people were maybe going to sleep early! We spent one morning fishing with Juilo and caught 11 fish in a couple of hours. If you enjoy fishing I suggest Juilo's Tours in ZIhuatanejo. Another day was spent touring (walking tour) of Zihuatanejo. I highly recommend this activity. This quiet little fishing village is just delightful to visit. For our 25th we toured Ixtapa and ate a delightful dinner at Deborah's Restaurant. Never once did we ever feel we were in any kind of danger. In all, we had a great time and recommend this location and area for your next trip. More>

The staff were just so sweet! We were sad to leave mainly because of them. The food was great! Da Mario was amazing ! The water show was awesome and the beach and view were to die for. Definitely will be back! The only thing was that the weekends -starting Thursday/Friday- got really busy with locals and lots of kids. It was almost too small of a resort for all of the people there. The pool and lounge chairs were always way too busy. Also the buffet got really busy in the morning because usually only one open. People would hog lounge chairs for the day and not even use them. So that was annoying. More>

Our third time to Sunscape Ixtapa, and as before, this place redefines service. I don't know how they do it, but they actually make you feel as though it is a pleasure to serve you. The cheerful and warm atmosphere was like coming home. Raul went out of his way to individually look after us at the front desk, and you have to meet Sandra at the concierge, Raymondo's Strawberry/Bannana/Coconut smoothies on the beach, Liz, Johana, Vicente, Antonio, Benito at the Windows buffet, Sunset dinner in Blue water overlooking the beach (try their Sunscape salad). Hector, the beach lifeguard, allowed us in the ocean most of the time, and we spent hours a day boogie boarding and wrestling the waves. Beach cabanas are not reserved, and it was easy getting one at the front. I know during spring break this is harder to do. We always ask for a room on the North side due to Noise from the town, however I don't believe there are king beds on that side. Our beds had added foam tops which were perfect, not sure they all do. We are not club members, and once they understood we were not interested, they respected it. We look for pampering, relaxation and great food on our winter escape, and while I am sure you can find fancier facilities and we missed the king bed, this place fits us perfect and we find the people, ambience and setting irresistible. Hats off to the Sunscape team. More>
