We went with a large group of 11 people (5 kids under 6 and 5 adults). The resort was very accommodating they pushed tables together at the restaurants so we could eat together. The drinks were great and the kids had a ton of fun on the waterslide. The only restaurant that has ac was the Italian restaurant which you have to be 14 years to eat. The buffets were good although a bit repetitive. Some nights there wasn't any supper until 7pm! This was not good for our young kids! It was so hot it was hard to enjoy anything besides the pool. That being said we loved the small size and talking to all the Mexicans, very friendly. The beach was great but the under tow was really strong. The whole area and beach was beautiful. The pool was a little old with some black scum but we watched them scrub the entire pool every am and test the water several times a day. The water is about four and a half feet deep so I was so glad we brought life jackets for the kids. There is a small shallow pool but it got busy during the day. Kids had fun doing crafts in the kids club. The girls were really friendly and remembered the kids names. There is a nice playground but only for kids club use. Would have been great to use the playground after supper. We had a ocean view. If we go again I would ask for a side view!! During the Mexican feista and nightly shows it was really really loud. Room was clean with a few mold stains. Lots of nice products and one English channels on TV. Nice thick duvet on bed and the ac cooled the room enough to sleep. Maid was great and even kept the floors washed. The sink backed up and the safe needed new batteries both were fixed asap. Overall we liked the resort but would have liked a few more air conditioned common areas/restaurants. There are lots of kids at the resort but it's not really kid friendly. More>

great location beautiful beach for walking -beautiful grounds ,clean ,well maintained--hotel clean..they dont push too hard for the time share like other mexican hotels we have stayed at...we paid extra for ocean view room king sized bed--asked for quiet room....our room was nice except that there was an open gap in the door jamb that led to the next room--i could see into their room and so they could see into ours---we called the front desk and they told us there were no other rooms because the place was full but they would try to move us asap=next day they had a nice family suite we could have for a deal of an extra 40 dollars american a night---even cheaper if we went to their hour and a half presentation which we declined---so 2 days later we got a room with 2 double beds--there was a good double door between the rooms so no visibility so we were ok with it.....every evg entertainment starts at 9 and it is outdoors so there is no escaping the noise--went on till 11-12 at night--we are early risers so didnt suit us....food was just average--we ate out a few nights a week while there --service was the worst i have had in mexico--there were a few who were very friendly and good--like vincente in the buffet restaurant and the coffee shop people were very nice...but many who were not---you had to wait a while for your coffee in the mornings--and for your refills--while they stood around and chatted with each other--we are quiet people,we are not rude ,we are always appreciative of service and we are tippers---the bar men were good--this is not a resort to expect mimosas for breakfast if that is your thing..kids not allowed at bar according to sign but they were at bar with their parents on the seats...they seemed to have a good program there for kids.....the airconditioning in the rooms was not great...the lobbies and most of the restaurants were not air conditioned so very hot and humid....would not go back to that resort--we spoke to some people who had been to this resort before and they said the restaurants had gone downhill and they didnt have as many as before and that they were going to stay elsewhere next time...-ixtapa and zhihuatanao are beautiful.....would suggest seeing zhihuatanao--only 90 pesos by cab--authentic mexico--very safe--lots of good restaurants there----also the sunset cruise was really nice--69 american--we really enjoyed it----we got a fishing trip from big ben on the beach---prob worth spending the extra 50 bucks to go with the guys westjet suggests for you--he misrepresents himself--he promised a big boat for us and we got a smaller boat--was seaworthy but not anything like the pics he showed us---also he said he would be on the trip with us but he wasnt---we chose to go fishing for smaller fish and then a few hours at ixtapa island for snorkelling at lunch--he told us they would cook our fish and give us veggies too all included--when we got there that was apparently not included----it was a real tourist trap on the island and i would not recommend it---they were asking for 5-10 dollars for giving us a hand up out of the boat one guy ordered a virgin pina colada and they brought out this beautiful pineapple with flowers filled with drink--cost him 18 dollars american--one lady had french fries--70 pesos---not cheap--water too rough to snorkel for me--im not a strong swimmer--but you could stand at the edge and see alot of fish...big ben did get us all transportation back to the hotel as he promised--we caught one needle fish which the captain reeled in to within 10 feet of the boat and handed the reel to the guys to bring in--not my idea of a fishing trip...ben avoided us for the next two days on the beach lol.....there are massage huts just down the beach-150 pesos for an hour! quite a few took advantage of them ----we tried it at the end of our week---it was ok--for 150 pesos--not like a true massage but was okay...you are in a hut with three other people getting a massage---you get what you pay for---we ate out at Franks bar--a block behind the presidente hotel--hes canadian very friendly--at least they had fans there---food was awesome--try his zappatizers---pizza excellent too---generals bar was good too.. We traveled along with a group of 5 and had a very nice experience. We prefer to stay at adult only resorts, Secrets being our favorite. Since they are not in the area we decided to try their Sunscape chain. Check in was quick and we were brought up to our room immediately. Our room was very basic, clean and decorated nicely with a nice ocean view. The bathroom could definitely use a little upgrade however it served its purpose. Being an older resort we thought they did a wonderful job renovating the public areas. There was a Coco Cafe, not full service with the cold coffee blended drinks and pastries, sandwiches, etc. which are available at their higher end resorts. Breakfast buffet was always very good. Outside seating was available and service always seemed to be pretty good. We dined at all the ala carte restaurants. Food was good, however service could be quite slow at the Italian restaurant. Drinks and service was pretty good poolside and on the beach. Entertainment was fun, always something going on. We loved the beach and the location of the resort. Close to everything. The weather was perfect everyday. Did a shopping trip to Zihuatanejo. Loved it. All in all we had a great time. Would definitely return if traveling to this area. More>

We just returned from a relaxing holiday at Sunscape Dorado. The rooms were clean and comfortable and the staff were amazing. From the welcome desk to the cleaning staff to the.servers in the restaurants and bars (Kudos to Antonio (Banderas),Simon, and Jesus) and pool staff, everyone was so friendly, attentive and quick. We would like to especially thank the Entertainment group who surprised my husband with a birthday song, dance and hugs all around! He was thrilled. We also agree with another review about the varying Internet reception. The food in the buffet and Blue Grill was good but the Italian restaurant good be improved. More>

Dorado Pacifico Ixpata has clean and comfortable rooms, food in general is above average, and the service is great. All service people is very friendly and attentive, the only drawback is the Internet service, as you need to be in the lobby to have access to the wireless service. More>
