The staff at this resort make the vacation! Everyone from housekeeping to entertainment staff go out of their way to make your stay perfect! Daniel the lifeguard gifted us with seashells he found snorkeling off the beach on his time off, Pedro and Jay Augustine from entertainment kept us entertained and busy with activities-Enrique and Daniel poolside servers were attentive and always smiling....room service is amazing and a big thank you to Carlos our server! Yes! I would recommend this for other couples wanting to be pampered in the sun!

Second Time at Sun Palace

This was our second time at Sun Palace and it was just as great the second time as the first. The food was great, service is wonderful and the convenience of this resort is what we like best. It is smaller so you don't need to make reservations and you can eat where you want when you want. Also, everything is so close. Only a short walk from your room to the restaurants, pools and beach. The beach is right by the pool and they provide drink service even on the beach! One thing that impressed me this time was that they had our area buoyed off and a lifeguard on duty which made me feel safer in the ocean. When we go back to Mexico, it will definitely be at the Sun Palace again!

Very well cared for resort with a beautiful beach!

We very much enjoyed our stay at Sun Palace. It was a low key environment that was very relaxing. The hotel was very clean and well maintained overall. My only complaint was that the service at the restaurants was very slow. Staff were very nice and helpful it was just very slow. The pool area was almost a little over crowded with chairs so hard to move around, but the resort was not full so it wasn't too much of a problem when we stayed there. The beach was gorgeous and the chairs on the beach were super comfy. Overall I would recommend this hotel and would stay there again.

Great experience. Ask for 6th floor upgrade facing south, worth the extra cost for the view

had stayed in this hotel last summer and service seemed a little better than- not horrible but not what it had been. Also the room service carts are extremely noisy at 6 am (knew that time each and every day) The need to address that issue. Also at the spa they hadn't changed the disposable face covers on the massage table - very disturbing to see someone's make up on there when you are to put your face in the same one.

We thought the Sun Palace was a very nice place with excellent food and service. The only small things lacking are the small pools, the lack of daytime and night time entertainment and no buffet at dinner. There are only 4 restaurants and no buffet.

Only Problem
HOWARD S.

The only problems we had was the paint was chipping off the walls on the balcony so the balcony was always littered with paint chips. The only other problem was the reception of the Apple Rep. No one met us at the airport baggage claim and no one told us to look for an AMSTAR rep versus and Apple Rep. The Apple Rep never showed up at the hotel to help us arrange transportation to the airport on our date of departure. Apple was not impressive this time. Very disappointed.

My wife and I came here for our honeymoon, and were constantly blown away by this hotel, the views were fantastic, the staff was consistantly striving to make our stay even better, and there were only trivial things that were left for us to complain about.

Absolutely loved this resort! Beautiful white sand beach, perfect turquoise water, drinks are excellent! Hotel staff is wonderful and always go above and beyond to satisfy guests! Only about 250 rooms from what we were told, it was quiet and intimate, but we also met some great people and had a ton of fun! The food at this resort was hands down the best all inclusive food I have had to date! Can't wait to go back, hoping to go with family and friends in the future!

Not Quite Perfect...

My husband and I just got back from one week at this resort and this is what I know... The ARRIVAL. If you do not arrive during "business" hours, you will not receive a cold drink and towel as advertised. You will, however, get a fresh flower and the pleasure of avoiding the unscrupulous tactics of the palace activity planners. We watched them attack the new arrivals yesterday as we were waiting for our shuttle to leave, and it was awful to watch. We met briefly with them on our third day there (after they called our room every morning between 8-9 to remind us) to discuss our resort credit, and all we got was a sales pitch. The RESORT CREDIT. We didn't use ours as everything took away from what we wanted to do (sun, swim, drink, eat, sleep), but they did not seem easy to use. A lot of restrictions and limits (and the 16% tax), but you may want to check out other reviews for more details. We had thought about using our credit for the romantic dinner, but after seeing the set up, we figured it wasn't worth the taxes to sit at a card table in the sand. The ROOMS. We upgraded to a junior ocean side room and it was huge. The shower was massive, the king-sized bed was heavenly and the balcony was large with an amazing view. The cons: there is no privacy in this room. The bathroom is open with opaque glass doors to the toilet and the shower. The acoustics in the toilet room are phenomenal. 'Cause nothing says romantic getaway like the booming echo of your partners bathroom "activities". I love my husband, but there are just some things I don't want to hear... Then there is this honking huge jacuzzi tub in the middle of the room. It is so tacky and a waste of space, but to each their own I guess. I think the most mind boggling thing about the room is the light switches. There are no less than 20 light switches in the room and after a week I knew what 2 of them did . Luckily you have to use your key card to turn on the lights, therefore I could just pull the card out to turn them all off at bedtime. Our room was located just up from the steak restaurant. This rooftop restaurant was closed for weather the first couple of nights we were there so we didn't realize how noisy a hundred or so people passing right outside our door would be. We decided that although this was very annoying, we liked our room enough not to request a change. I would suggest not getting a room in the north hallway on the first floor if you like to go to bed early. The restaurant is open until 10:30 and then there is clean up... The FOOD. OMG, the food. So delicious. We had room service on our balcony for every breakfast and for most lunches. The menu is extensive and everything we tried was delicious (I recommend all of their tacos. Yep. ALL of them!) We also tried all but the Thai a la carte restaurants and again the food was amazing. The house wine list was pretty good, too. Our main complaint was that some of the restaurants weren't open when they were supposed to be. On Valentine's Day we were limited to the buffet, and this is the only place where we found the food substandard. The STAFF. These people are what makes the resort as good as it is. They are friendly and helpful and just wonderful to be around. They kept everything immaculately clean, kept the drinks full, and did everything they could to make sure you were enjoying your vacation. The BEACH. It's right there. Spit and it will land in the sand. The loungers are plentiful and, unless the wind is hurricane force, they will put up an umbrella for you. The only thing I didn't like was the segregation of the guests. One side was for non-member and first timers, the other for diamond tier and VIP. Guess which side got served more often and still had sun in the afternoon? The POOLS. There are two main pool areas at this resort. The "party" pool, which we didn't go to at all but when we walked through there everyone looked like they were having fun. A little more crowded though, as this is where the swim up bar is. The "quiet" pools were more to our taste. Although you had to chase the sun after noon, the drink service was impeccable (my glass was never empty more than 2-3 minutes), and the pools were clean and cool to help beat the heat. Plenty of loungers and the resort has a 60 minute holding limit, which they mostly enforce, so that no one can go down at 5 am and hold all the good chairs all day. The ENTERTAINMENT. Again, something we didn't take part in. We enjoyed going for a late dinner, so the start times (8-9 pm) didn't work for us. We realized after this vacation that all-inclusive resorts just aren't for us. We found it to be a completely manufactured experience. Having said that, if what you are looking for is an indulgent, relaxing holiday with good food, plenty to drink and no kids, then the Sun Palace may be right for you.

Always Enjoyable!

We enjoyed another stay at Sun Palace! The staff there is so attentive to your needs. Our concierge Claudia is amazing! From scheduling excursions, to private dinners or spa appointments. She makes sure everything is perfect! Natalie the pool concierge has your spot ready with towels and a cooler of water. You must have dinner at the steak restaurant with the server Rodger! He’s the best! I highly recommend a stay at any Palace resort!

Augustin was one of the most friendly, welcoming, helpful and knowledgeable staff members I have ever met at these resorts. He let us know hes been working his way up the ranks for over 4 years, so he has seen it all. He was quick to help the new DJs with their song selections to keep the crowd moving, had a lot of expertise in coaxing guests to play games in the pool and on the beach, kept our hopes up at Blackjack and Poker,,. and was always quick to check in with us anywhere he saw us on the resort to ask how we were doing, and if we needed anything else at all. A true customer service expert! Well Done Chocolate! See you soon!
