I stayed here for my honeymoon and loved it. The resort is nicely decorated. Not in a cheesy carribean way either. It looks like a high class hotel. The room was tastefully furnished and very clean. The bathroom was spotless and everything looked new/newer. The food was about a 7 out 10. I just wish there had been more choices at the buffets. The lobby bar had excellent food, especially their hot wings. The bartenders were less than attentive but it didn't really bother me too bad. All of the staff at the front desk were great. Anyone I spoke with was warm, friendly and helpful. Overall it was a very nice trip.

All in all I was very disappointed in this resort. It was a very nice place 2 years ago. I will definetly go back to the islands; but I will find another resort to stay at.

The scenery at the hotel was breathtaking. The pools were beautiful. We used the gym area and we were very pleased. However, check in was a complete nightmare. They had several weddings that weekend, and the hotel was overbooked. Our friends actually had someone else walk into their room - with a key - after they were settled in because the hotel staff put two different parties in the same room. There were many people that were sent to the Marriott hotel because the place was too overbooked. The food was very good, but the menu was not varied enough. It was the same exact menu with about eight items for our entire stay. The service in the restaurants was very very very slow. One night, it took us 2 1/2 hours to be complete our dinner. There were only 8 people at our table. Although the food was very tasty. We spoke with a manager and he said that they were in the process of re-doing the hotel management and staff and were aware of the problems. He was very nice and understood our concerns. I would go to that hotel again because of the beautiful surroundings, but not until after they fix some of the service problems and the restaurant. Actually there was another restaurant opening on the day that we left. I seems that the management is taking its job seriously and trying to improve.

Entertainment is almost non-existant. Movies, karaoke, once in a while something at the pool in the evening. The no-see-ums aka sand fleas are everywhere on the island. You can't go out in the early morning or after 3PM or you will be bit like crazy. Bug spray is a must and hope that you aren't all .. More>

You can't go out in the early morning or after 3PM or you will be bit like crazy. Bug spray is a must and hope that you aren't allergic to the bites or you will scratch like crazy. Staff was very nice. Food is very pricy for what you get. We didn't go all-inclusive and we're are glad we didn't. It would have been the same thing over and over in the few restaurants they have. Buffets were $40-50 per person if you weren't on the AI plan.

My husband and I just returned from our second trip to the Sun Palace and we can't wait to go back again!!! The service is amazing!!! The hotel is gorgeous!!! The pools and beach---cannot even begin to describe the beauty!!! The food is wonderful in every restaurant inside of the hotel, although we are partial to The Alamo's incredible breakfast buffet and The Steak's beach-side dinner buffet!!!! The staff at these two places made us feel like they are there just for us. You want for nothing while you are at this hotel. The only thing you want---is to stay forever!!!!! Thank you again, Sun Palace, for another extremely wonderful anniversary!!!!

My girlfriend and I stayed here for 7 nights. We had the best time, we had concierge level and on arrival were treated like royalty. When we arrived Joel handed me a cool aromatherapy towel he took us up to the concierge level for check-in. Alejandro the concierge was very helpful and nice. Once we were given our room Joel explained and helped showing us everything inside the room. The restaurants are fantastic! All of them; on numerous occasions the chef would present himself and ask me if I needed help and ask how everything was. All of the staff are extremely polite and helpful, from the maintenance to the managers. The entertainers were lots of fun. During our stay we saw lots of people on their honeymoon or celebrating anniversaries, it's very popular because it's couples only. My GF celebrated her birthday here we had a romantic dinner and the young lady from PR helped make it an unforgettable one. The airport is close by that was nice, also the beach doesn't have lots of traffic because it's not in La Zona where all the crowds are. If you want to have a relaxing environment this is where you wanna stay. Cabs are pricey learn to take the bus.

If you're looking for all inclusive, this is one of the best places, away from all the buzz of cancún but not too far, perfect transportation availability. All over the world México has the best service for the customer, always with a smile, you'll be treated like a star. It's a pricy resort but all Cancún is expensive. My husband and I celebrated our #5 anniversary with a lobster and moet dinner by the beach ... just beautiful.

Great. From the moment we entered the hotel and were greeted and invited to the Concierge Check-in to the Entertainment to the pool staff. We were able to stay at the Sun Palace 6 days and 5 nights for our honeymoon. We were also able to utilize the $1500 credit for services, tours, and goodies. Once we settled into our room and popped the first half shot we walked downstairs to look over tour options and book spa appointments. The gentleman at the middle desk asked us if we would like to go on a 'sales' type presentation at the local Moon Palace. My wife and I had that down.(no means no, we don't want it right now. no thanks. and on the third try you say NO. thanks but no its not in our budget.) You cant be weak and its worth the $150 credit, free cab ride to the Moon Palace and of course you get to utilize the facility We were offered $150 extra for credit so we waited to book the 'Big' spa service for my lady. You are only allowed to use $300 towards spa service with the $1500 credit so the extra $150 was worth the wait. The hour and half sales/non sales pitch is worth it, guaranteed. We ate breakfast and walked the property. When we got back everyone was friendly, of course. We booked the super facial scrub body scrub service. I gave the full credit to my wife. So she had $450 for spa services. She loved it. The restaurants were all great. We originally updated to the Concierge level so we had a small additional menu for room service. Everyday we had breakfast delivered to the room at 7am. It was always on time and warm. Described to a T. Every morning I walked down to the beach and saved 2 chairs and and small table for myself. placing a magazine and small bag with our cameras inside. I was worried about my "stuff' for about 5 minutes and I realized this place is safer than the airplane check in. There was always someone there that I could ask for an umbrella and bam set it like a King. There were several people working the beach for drinks and water but I would suggest hitting the bar at the pool and starting out there. Within 20 minutes if you need something someone will be there at the beach as well. We did take a cab to the town area. It's optional. Similar to anything you might find at a local swap meet. It's helps the economy and if you say no and walk away no biggie. We did get a shirt for $12 had a bracelet made $4. We took the bus back to the Beach Palace to see the lodging. It was a nice hotel. People were friendly. The great thing about it was we were able to enjoy the food and drink and everyone was so friendly. We walked across the street and spent $1 on the bus. I told the gentleman we were at the Sun Palace and he told us where to depart. Again we got back and everyone super friendly. Did I mention there was a dance show that was beyond great? There were several songs and the performers were great. My wife and I danced with a group of people for the finale. How great. The magic show was top notch. I am still wondering how they switched locations. Top notch. The fire show was incredible;. Truly those guys were talented. Something you see on TV. The pool entertainment also top notch. I did water aerobics with my wife. The instructor Francisco was so friendly. Back to the story. When we got back from Beach Palace I decide to utilize the credits for tours.(you can use $1200 of the $1500 for tours) We went on the sub-sea snorkel tour. It is a transfers of 3 boats and everyone was great. Offering water soda or beer. I misplaced my iphone on one of the boats and without thought 2 hours later after the snorkel tour ended the boat came to pick us up and the gentleman pointed at me and said hey you left your phone. I was so amazed. How honest. We did arrive back from that tour later than expected and so we missed our dolphin tour. No worries. I explained to the tour guide the boat was late and the gentleman rearranged the tour for a later hour. Perfect.(im not saying they will always be able to do that but wow) We swam with the dolphins, rode on their stomachs, and kissed their lips...all with the $1500 credit. I had only $100 bill and asked the taxi driver for change. He didn't have it but offered to drop me off and come back with change. I did not pay until the return trip two hours later. Man, I thought these people here are too good to be true. We visited the Oriental Restaurant on the terrace. It was great. Service was awesome. Food was what I wanted. The Alamo is great for breakfast and lunch, The ladies at the front always greeted us with a smile. Santiago was a great server. Always making sure we were satisfied. They have an omelette bar, fresh everything great service and no view is bad. The Italian restaurant was also a great choice. We splurged and used our credit for an upgraded bottle of wine. We took it to our room and finished the bottle later. We were fortunate enough to have the Concierge dinner on the beach. We pre-selected our menu so we knew what to expect. There was a small trio that came by to sing. It was ideal. You can also upgrade with the credit but we declined. There was a small amount of rain at the tail end of our dinner so they took us to the Italian restaurant and offer even more greatness. To be honest there was no disappointment. There was a couples only spot. The service was perfect. Maximilliano always made sure the turn down service was perfect. Jose at the Concierge was always ready to help. The beach bar was great. Enjoy every moment you get.. Watch the sun rise. There are daily tours to the Mayan ruins.(We did not go, it's an all day ordeal) We will be back. Thanks for the great service. This was a true dream come true. p.s. Don't forget goggles for the beach! Then you can swim in the ocean without salt water getting into your eyes. More time to enjoy the beautiful water instead of having stinging eyes.

My spouse and I wanted to go on a sun filled vacation. We were deciding on either Hawaii or the Carribean. After the websites (expedia, redtag, etc.) jacked up the price on trips to Hawaii, my spouse and I decided on Mexico. We scoured through the reviews on trip advisor and decided on Sun Palace due to the reviews and price. How was Sun Palace? Appearance 4.0/5 - the place has a modernist design consisting of granite/marble and lots of windows. The windows play a big part in the hotel's decor as you get a view of the carribean sea and the lagoon throughout hotel rooms, restaurants, and even the gym. Unlike Moon Palace, there is very little wasted or unused space. Comfort 4.5/5 - Unlike Moon Palace, the rooms are accessed indoor. You are protected by AC throughout the hotel. Having moved from the interior rooms to Junior suites to conceige I can attest that all the rooms are a good size. All rooms consist of seperate shower stalls and toilets. There are two sinks in each room - one per person. There is a hottub in each room - good for atleast 2 people. Now once you upgrade to conciege you get some extra amenities like La Occitane shampoos and soaps. You also get a wider menu of room service to choose from - food items from each restaurant. You get dessert items delievered to your room each day. There's also a turn down service which my wife loves. In terms of bed, the bed isn't as hard as i would prefer, but it is comfortable. You get a choice of 4 or 6 types of pillows which is great. Brand name liquors, drinks and snacks are available in each and all rooms we were in. There is also an aromatheopy with several fragrance to choose from. The conciege service also gives you access to comfortable sun beds right infront of the ocean. For those that aren't conciege, there are also some comfortable padded beach loungers - but they are far less comfortable relative to the sun beds for conciege. Value 5/5 The 1500 credit is something the Palace resort is offering to their customers. You can use this money towards tours, purchasing goods, upgrading rooms, spas, wines, photo graphs, and romantic dinners. We used the credits to upgrade our room to conciege, enjoyed a couples spa and attend a dolphin tour. I'm not sure if any other hotel offers all this at the price we paid, but we're very happy the flexibility of the credits. Sometimes the hotel over charges items (ie. Maui Jim sun glasses for 459+ dollars?) but that's too be expected from the hotel stores. As part of the conciege, you also get a free 25min spa In addition, if you informed the hotel that you are honey mooners, you also get a free fruit basket, bottle of wine, and a free by the beach dinner (not on the beach). As part of conciege, you get a free dinner ON the beach. Food 4.5/5 Food at all the restaurants ranged from good to excellent. I particularly enjoyed the grilled foods at the Steak restaurant - located on the patio next to the pool. La trotto had a great environment - live entertainment, good to great food, and loved the service and the mayan coffee. The poolside bbq stall offered some good bbq items like ribs, chicken and burgers. The Oriental was one of my favs with sushi and thai food. The Mexican restaurant was good too, and it is a buffet during the breakfast and lunch period. Conclusion 4.5/5 If you are a couple with no kids, i would definitely choose this restaurant. Having visited Moon and Beach palace during the trip, i have to say Sun Palace was the best. Moon palace was too spaced out. The beach didn't look that nice. Beach palace had a similar beach to Sun palace, but they allow kids and teens - not the most quiet hotel. Sun Palace is quiet and cozy. If you want to party, i would goto the other palaces.
