Not your typical Marriott
DENISE S.

Although the staff was quite nice and helpful and the hotel is adequate, you will not find the typical Marriott quality at this hotel. We had lots of plumbing and water issues. The staff tried to assist as they were able, but there were in going issues throughout our stay.

I was supposed to get $200.00 resort credit, I had it on my documents. I was advised that I didn't qualify as my package was based on 4 nights with 3 free nights. When I asked about it at check-in they said it would be deducted at my bill when I checked out. My wife, a travel agent booked this trip. She will not tell her clients about resort credit, as it is not honored.

Arrival at St Kitts Airport

We were advised that transportation would be provided by Apple Vacations from airport to Marriot Hotel...we were advised more than once. There was no one from Apple Tours at the airport. Took cab and paid $16.00, after waiting 40 min.for Rep from Apple. Island Tours apparently represents Apple..there was no sign letting us know that. After we registered at the Hotel we booked a trip to Nevis, the Rep for Island Tours gave us a $16.00 credit for the cab fare. Very poor communication regarding pick up at airport. You cannot correct a problem if you do not know it exists. That is the reason for my complaint.

Hotel is "tired" for a Marriott. Rating should be a 4 apple at best.

Everyone at the hotel was so friendly and helpful. We had the all inclusive plan added on and every employee was well-informed of what that entailed and explained to us what was covered and what wasn't so we wouldn't have any surprise charges. The hotel the perfect place to spend our honeymoon, right on the beach, lots of food and drinks and lots to do.

The staff at the resort, while moving at their own pace, were very friendly and wanting to please. It is not a resort for people who want instant service. Various aspects of the resort buildings showed, overall, poor maintenance. The pool was not a good one for swimmers. The beach might have been all right but seaweed was coming in at such a rate the staff could not keep it clean. There was very little entertainment in the evenings other than the casino. We have been on many other Apple tours which provided better resorts for less money.

Great family resort!

This resort was very family friendly. Rooms were clean and comfortable. The only reason I did not give it five stars is because there were some minor maintenance issues in our room. There was a leak from a cooling unit in the ceiling and the furniture looked a little worn out. But nothing major and we still had a great trip. We had a large 2 bedroom condo that backed to one of the pools. It was very convenient to be able to step outside of our door and go for a swim. The beach was well maintained - one day there was a lot of seaweed on the beach, but they cleaned it up very quickly. This property is on the Atlantic side, so the waves are big and the ocean at the hotel is not very inviting. But the Caribbean side is just a short drive away. Recommend going to Reggae Beach Bar And Shipwreck Beach Bar for the beach and great drinks and food! The coffee shop was very convenient and quick and had a great selection of affordable meals and snacks. We loved the pizza shack on-site and this provided another easy and affordable meal option. In fact, one night we ordered pizza and found a table by the ocean (there are lots available) and that was one of the most enjoyable dinners of our trip. Carambola Beach Club was the other GREAT dinner of our trip! The cabs are readily available in front of the hotel. The pool area is fun and had activities and music. The property is big, so plan to do lots of walking, but we enjoyed the exercise. There are also several restaurants, shops, and a market that are walking distance from the hotel. Overall, we had a great time at this resort and I would definitely return. Loved the island of St. Kitts for a relaxing beach vacation where you truly feel like you're on an island!

Probably the first time I've written a review before checking out. We've been here three nights and are checking out today to try the Hyatt for the next four nights. Hope the experience is radically different. We stayed at the hotel part of this resort. I'm a gold elite. We arrived approx 230pm to be good the room want ready yet. It was empty but housekeeping hadn't done their work yet. There was only one other family in the check-in counter with us. We went off to grab something to eat and when the pager hadn't buzzed till 330 we came back to reception. Loads of people checking in, our room still wasn't ready. We've booked a double ocean view (according to the website that's their best category of non-suite). We didn't want to trade in for a room in the main building and they recommended we wait for the ocean view villa.eventually we got into the room at 430pm. So the whole using-the-app-to-check-in thing is pointless. As we were entering we saw the housekeeping staff leeching, so clearly they hadn't prioritized the room knowing a family with two little kids was waiting. As expectedd by this point the crib or pack and play wasn't in the room. We called and it didn't appear till 830pm. That was the pattern throughout the stay. As we speak I've had towels requested via a call and the app since 8am this morning. It is noon and nothing yet. I've called thrice. Same thing the past two days. The whole 'digital' thing Marriott is trying to do - this hotel didn't get the memo. Yesterday's app 'my request' timed out, let's see what happens today. The view from the room is fabulous. Other than that, service really let's the resort down. Oh and the pools and whirlpool aren't heated.

Beautiful, well kept grounds and updated villas. I would make two suggestions for the villas - add screens so that birds do not fly into the room and provide a floor or reading lamp as it is too dark to enjoy a book in the living room. Spacious pools usually have available chairs. There are lots of activities for kids although there are very few children staying. The tennis courts are busy every morning, The pro Anthony hosts excellent socials and gives great lessons but the court is ragged and part of the fence demolished. New twice a week zumba teacher is excellent. However, doing zumba in the water provides no benefit. Regular aerobics in water lessens stress on the joints. Zumba is low impact and there is an unused outdoor stage that would be a perfect spot. The golf course and spa are always empty. Marriott is really missing an opportunity by pricing these like a high end resort when the facilities are barely adequate. Group golf clinics or driving range specials might create interest. Two for one days might bring people into the spa. Sadly, the indooor casual restaurant is now open only for breakfast. In past years it was tasty and served a variety of items. The wind whips through the outdoor lunch area - our nachos were ice cold when arriving at the table. The Italian dinner restaurant and two night a week seafood buffet both receive very poor reviews. St. Kitts is a lovely island with friendly people. Marriott needs to make many changes if it hopes to compete with the new Hyatt and coming RitzCarlton. The location is ideal. The dining drives guests off site.

My 83 yr old dad and I visited for a golf week in late Jan. The staff at the course and the hotel could not have been more welcoming friendly or accommodating. We played bad golf but had good times. We were on a golf package that I closed breakfast. On day 2 and each day thereafter they welcomed us by name which was a great touch. There are 2 central elevator banks and it can be a very long walk to your room. The room was nothing special but had a sitting area and a balcony. Bath was what you expect from a marriott. We had been going to Puerto Rico but this year the island was closed. So st kitts was a great choice.

Four of us stayed in a two bedroom condo for a week and had a wonderful time. I will agree with prior reviewers that some aspects of the resort are a little worn and could use a face lift, but everything was clean and functional and the employees could not have been nicer or more professional. Our condo on the second floor had an awesome ocean view (first floor rooms do not because of a protective wall along the ocean) and a full kitchen, including washer and dryer. The poolside restaurant and indoor Calypso Cafe were very good and reasonably priced. I enjoyed the aerobic and Zumba classes in the main pool, and the relaxing aspect of the quiet pool. Great home away from home!
