St. James's Club

Email | Share |

Tucked away on a secluded 100-acre peninsula on the southeastern coast of Antigua, the St. James's Club Resort & Villas exudes a casual, club-like ambiance. This all-inclusive hideaway caters to couples, families, and singles with its plethora of amenities and activities. The family-friendly resort has a long-standing reputation for exceptional, caring service. Here, guests can retreat from the world or enjoy a wide array of island- and water-based diversions.

St. James's guests have several choices when it's time to refuel. The Docksider is known as much for its panoramic water views and charming nautical décor as its Caribbean-inspired dishes. Thursday evenings feature steel-pan performers who turn up the heat with Caribbean Calypso music. Those who wish to dine in a more tranquil setting may do so at the resort's signature fine-dining restaurant, Piccolo Mondo. For casual dining, the informal Coco Beach Restaurant & Bar offers sea views and a selection of salads, soups, burgers, and pastas.

St. James's Club Resort & Villas has four lounges and bars. The Reef Deck bar beckons adjacent to the main pool. The two beach bars (Mamora Bay Bar and Coco Beach Bar) feature the resort's signature rum punch. A beach cart with soda, beer, rum, and fruit punch also provides refreshments to sun worshippers. The Jacaranda Lounge features nightly entertainment.

Two white-sand beaches offer a host of fun-filled activities. Coco Beach is like an aquarium for snorkelers, while the calm waters of Mamora Bay are ideal for swimming. St. James's Club provides complimentary non-motorized watersports such as kayaking, pedal boating, and catamaran sailing. Tucked into a quiet corner of the The Club area is the Tennis Center, with four hard courts and two artificial turf courts. Four courts are lit for night play.

Guests can also sunbathe, take a dip in six distinctive swimming pools, and succumb to the pleasures of a spa and salon. Spa Tranquility is an expansive and elegantly appointed hideaway for pampering and restorative treatments for the body and skin (fee). The seaside gym has floor-to-ceiling windows looking out at the ocean, providing an inspiring setting for workouts.

Young guests getting restless? The St. James's Club Kidz Club is situated in the heart of the resort overlooking Coco's Beach.

St James club honeymoon
RUSSELL M.
Nov 29 2011
The hotel facilities were average. The staff couldn't have been friendlier. The beaches were clean and quiet. Plenty of palm trees on the beach if we wanted shade. Also the drink cart that came around serving beer, wine, water and soda was an added plus. For the adventurous: there is excellent snorkling about 200 yards off of the beach. We snorkled out three days and saw everything from Barracuda, to Lobster, Hawksbill turtle, octopus, gruper, and all sorts of brillantly colored fish. Antigua is definately a choice spot to vacation. St James club is great!

Phone in room did not work the whole time we were there. The staff should have offered to move us. The room was not cleaned one day because when we got back to the room at five o'clock to get ready for dinner reservations the room was not cleaned yet and we settled for just clean towels. Pools looked cloudy. Not enough service at the beach. We rented a car and left the facility on two days to find nice beaches, which we did. We will definitely go back to Antigua, but would not stay at the St.James' Club or book through Apple.

Just back from a two week holiday in Saint James. This was my fourth time and everytime I return I can see some new improvement. We stayed in one of the Villas which was spotless. Nice decor inside and wonderful scenery from the top balcony. The downstairs patio needs some work and tiles replaced. All villas seem to be the same. I went to the tennis pro Bennett for some lessons and found Bennett a gentleman and very Knowledgeable and a great coach. I would recommend all levels of players to get some lessons. We also went on three boat trips and I would recommend this as a must. The crew were fab especially Captain Noel, Kiki and Imhram. One of the trips was a private boat and again I would recommend this. Noel and his team made sure we had the best day. Over all this was my favourite visit and was made all the better with the excellent staff. Roll on next year.

Quiet, Sun-drenched Beach We were in an adults only Jr. Suite, a spacious and well-appointed accomodation. The bathroom is large, by anyone's standards with spacious double shower, double sinks at the vanity, and a large tub opposite the shower. There were always adequate towels and quality, complimentary toiletries of shampoo, conditioner and body lotion. The level with the bed has end tables with lamps plus a large dresser backed by a large mirror. The bed is rather high off the floor, so if you are short, it is a bit of a challenge climbing in. The closet has plenty of hangars which can be removed from the rod for easy hanging of your clothing. The safe is in the closet. One level down, toward the beach/water is the sitting area with a couch, loveseat, cofee table and end tables, also the TV. The coffee/tea set-up is in the corner, along with a small refrigerator. There are several restaurants: Docksider (buffet, no reservations needed) which is adjacent to one of the bars, the Rainbow where buffet breakfast is served as well as themed dinners (reservations required), Coco's and 11/11 are further from center of property. We did not dine at either this time. The finest restaurant is Piccolo Monde for an extra charge; well worth it and an incredible hillside vista from where you view the bay. When lobster is available, we highly recommend it. The new snack shop is great with a nice selection of pastries throughout the day plus some cold and hot drinks. Many British visit here and a small assortment of sandwiches are usually available around teatime. Top drawer liquor is available with limited brands: Johnny Walker Black scotch, Cointreau and Bombay Gin are the brands we triedwhile there. You must request. Please know that check-in time varies and you might wait for some time after you arrive to get in your room; we arrived at around 3 p.m. and had to sit around for an hour. Even for a resort, I found the salon prices high with my shampoo/blowdry being$60 + $9 tax. Wi-fi is free in Jr.Suites....do not know about other standard rooms.

Our first time at All Inclusive (with exception of Jamaica where we feel it's a MUST) and we were extremely pleased. As we arrived a nice touch was an offering of a glass of champagne! Buffet style dining was very well tended to and refreshed during the entire hours of buffet offerings. The live music at night was very good and the atmosphere was comfortable offering 2 bars for drinks. There are an abundance of pools to chose from including an 'adult only' area of villas as well as pools - which is a nice added request to your reservation if your looking for that as a couple. Our Villa was amazing....vaulted ceilings with 2 ceiling fans as well as a large bathroom with dual shower heads and a separate soaking tub for 2. The gym was well versed in equipment from free weights, cardio machines and mats, Bosu balls and always kept clean. Entire staff was friendly from asking directions on site to restaurants, times, actives, airport arrangements and even off-site excursion suggestions. A definite 'don't miss' is Mamora Beach Bar & Grill.....amazing turkey burger and homemade nachos. We're home 1 week and are planning our next trip!!!

My husband and I spent two wonderful weeks in Antigua and on St James and Villas resort. It was a quieter resort than others we have visited elsewhere, but we quickly adjusted to the peaceful and restful atmosphere. The room was lovely and view was amazing; so beautiful to wake up to. The food was excellent, and the choices and different restaurants wonderful. The main pool was big and a pleasure; I read 6 books sitting by that beautiful pool, and participated n the aquasizes most days. We used the paddle boards and kayaks, and walked the perimeter of the resort daily. We did the Pink Panther tour, and enjoyed it immensely; Joy was a capable and fun guide. We did the Excellence catamaran your around the island and loved it. The sunset cruise from the resort was fun and beautiful! We visited St John’s and explored the capitol. We had two wonderful weeks and would highly recommend this lovely resort to anyone looking for a restful and relaxing vacation,

91% capacity but felt like 50%

This property looks big, but doesn't act or feel big. We had heard from the staff that it was at 91% capacity over March Break but it didn't feel crowded. There was no waiting in line for anything. Another interesting thing we found was that we didn't hear loud music playing everywhere like at other resorts. We couldn't put our finger on it at first, as to why we felt more relaxed. We didn't have to wait to use catamarans, windsurfers or paddle boats. Also, going fishing for 2 hours in a boat built for 4 plus a captain was only 30 USD per person. They go into a bay on the ocean side of the resort for bottom fishing and also to deeper water. Since the ocean is a bit rough on that side, those that get seasick might want to skip this trip. Overall the food was good and in many cases, excellent. The pizza at Eleven/11 was some of the best pizza you will ever try. The beach bar has great hot dogs and hamburgers for a quick bite. Your only wait here is for the food to cook...not from waiting in line to order. Barely 10 minutes. Our accomodations were a 2 bedroom villa for a family of 4. It was clean, relatively modern with 2 bedrooms, two bathrooms, a full kitchen, living room and dining room. It had more than enough room for all of us - it didn't feel crowded at all. There were upper and lower patios. We've been going to Antigua almost exclusively for 25 years at different resorts, villas, beach houses etc. and surprisingly, we'd have to say this is one of our favourites.
