Tucked away on a secluded 100-acre peninsula on the southeastern coast of Antigua, the St. James's Club Resort & Villas exudes a casual, club-like ambiance. This all-inclusive hideaway caters to couples, families, and singles with its plethora of amenities and activities. The family-friendly resort has a long-standing reputation for exceptional, caring service. Here, guests can retreat from the world or enjoy a wide array of island- and water-based diversions.

St. James's guests have several choices when it's time to refuel. The Docksider is known as much for its panoramic water views and charming nautical décor as its Caribbean-inspired dishes. Thursday evenings feature steel-pan performers who turn up the heat with Caribbean Calypso music. Those who wish to dine in a more tranquil setting may do so at the resort's signature fine-dining restaurant, Piccolo Mondo. For casual dining, the informal Coco Beach Restaurant & Bar offers sea views and a selection of salads, soups, burgers, and pastas.

St. James's Club Resort & Villas has four lounges and bars. The Reef Deck bar beckons adjacent to the main pool. The two beach bars (Mamora Bay Bar and Coco Beach Bar) feature the resort's signature rum punch. A beach cart with soda, beer, rum, and fruit punch also provides refreshments to sun worshippers. The Jacaranda Lounge features nightly entertainment.

Two white-sand beaches offer a host of fun-filled activities. Coco Beach is like an aquarium for snorkelers, while the calm waters of Mamora Bay are ideal for swimming. St. James's Club provides complimentary non-motorized watersports such as kayaking, pedal boating, and catamaran sailing. Tucked into a quiet corner of the The Club area is the Tennis Center, with four hard courts and two artificial turf courts. Four courts are lit for night play.

Guests can also sunbathe, take a dip in six distinctive swimming pools, and succumb to the pleasures of a spa and salon. Spa Tranquility is an expansive and elegantly appointed hideaway for pampering and restorative treatments for the body and skin (fee). The seaside gym has floor-to-ceiling windows looking out at the ocean, providing an inspiring setting for workouts.

Young guests getting restless? The St. James's Club Kidz Club is situated in the heart of the resort overlooking Coco's Beach.

St James club honeymoon
RUSSELL M.
Nov 29 2011
The hotel facilities were average. The staff couldn't have been friendlier. The beaches were clean and quiet. Plenty of palm trees on the beach if we wanted shade. Also the drink cart that came around serving beer, wine, water and soda was an added plus. For the adventurous: there is excellent snorkling about 200 yards off of the beach. We snorkled out three days and saw everything from Barracuda, to Lobster, Hawksbill turtle, octopus, gruper, and all sorts of brillantly colored fish. Antigua is definately a choice spot to vacation. St James club is great!

Phone in room did not work the whole time we were there. The staff should have offered to move us. The room was not cleaned one day because when we got back to the room at five o'clock to get ready for dinner reservations the room was not cleaned yet and we settled for just clean towels. Pools looked cloudy. Not enough service at the beach. We rented a car and left the facility on two days to find nice beaches, which we did. We will definitely go back to Antigua, but would not stay at the St.James' Club or book through Apple.

Excellent Stay

We have been fortunate to return to resort on many occasions. We had prior warning about the seaweed and were offered to change our stay to the other hotels. Our heart is always with St James’s and although it would be operating on a reduced scale, we decided there is only one place for us and we weren’t disappointed. The staff were excellent as usual and should be commended. Although it was low occupancy it didn’t spoil our stay, it was if we had a private island holiday with the staff and other guests creating lovely atmosphere around the resort. Well done St James’s.

We stayed here in May 2018 as my sister was getting married here. The rooms were huge and serviced beautifully, we upgraded to a beachfront room with a patio area overlooking the beach. One morning we managed to have a coffee overlooking the beach. We tried most of the restaurants, bars and pools, my particular favourites was Docksider and Coco Beach. The main buffet restaurant was good, the staff were great and got to know our drink preferences - although I think a little more work needs to be done on the a la carte side. Although our room overlooked Coco Beach we spent most of our time on the other side, Mamora Bay, which was a bit more lively. We took full advantage of the watersports on offer, and of Alfred who drove round several times a day with a chiller full of cold drinks, both alcoholic and not. The floating trampoline type things in the water were great, was lovely to sit in there with a cool beer. The cocktails were great, especially the Mudslides (and we did try a few). The food was good - when they say it is spice it is spicy! The staff were great and made sure you had everything you needed, from the chambermaids to the restaurant and bar staff, nothing seemed to be too much trouble. We did a couple of trips - Shirley Heights and Stingray island which were great, although I didn't have the courage to get in the water with the rays. The gym was very well equipped and nice and cool. I had a brilliant week with 9 family and friends, the day of the wedding was amazing and the bride said she would not change a thing. A fab time was had by all, thank you St James Villas.

EXCELLENT!!

I stayed at St. James's club for two weeks and had a fantastic time. Even though the resort was partly closed there were plenty of activities on offer for everyone to get involved in. The food was great as well as the service. I spent a lot of my time fishing and I didn't come home disappointed, thats for sure! I would recommend this place to anyone and I hope to return in the future.

Fantastic

I recently returned from a 4 week stay at the resort and it was absolutely brilliant. Although the resort was partly closed due to seaweed, we still had a great time. The water sports in particular was very fun. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, making our stay even more enjoyable. The food was great and the service was fantastic. Definitely recommend staying here!

Carry on ..........

I'm a great believer that you get out of life's experiences what you put into them, SJC has it's quirks but it has genuine heart and soul and the staff will always undertake to ensure you have the best possible experience if you are wiling to engage. We have just returned from 3 weeks, like having a very exclusive private island where, particularly in our first week, everyone made a point of talking to each other, a shared camaraderie. Admittedly as the weeks progressed it became a little more like the infamous dining scene from "Carry on up the Khyber" - but at no point did it turn into "Lord of the Flies" as feared! Repeat guests, rather than moan at the lack of entertainment staff in our 3rd week took it upon ourselves to teach the morning stretch class or even the aqua aerobics which is a cornerstone of daily life at SJC. We ate at Piccolo Mondo 3 times and had fabulous food each time, Rainbow's bowed out with grace prior to 15/7 having given us a couple of memorable evenings too and I can't wait to see how the space is transformed from the massive cavernous area to something more intimate. Coco's 11-11 put on a choice of several great specials in the evening, but despite having paid for the all inclusive we also took the opportunity to eat out as well and experience life outside of the bubble and support some other local businesses in the English Harbour area. In all of the resort though it's about the interaction with the staff, particularly ladies that appear to be incredibly fierce, ruling our tables with a rod of iron - making our evenings complete with much love and shared laughter. We wholeheartedly embraced the spirit of the blitz and feel almost reluctant to share the resort with other guests when it is back to operating at capacity! Seaweed on Coco's bay was just relentless, a testament to the utter dedication of the grounds team who tackled the seemingly endless task, their own personal Groundhog Day. I love that villa check in is now a speedy handing over of keys, paperwork is in the villa to be completed when you're less hot and bothered, and in our case able to find our reading glasses! Matt's cocktails on a Wednesday night have become an institution, seldom does it last for just an hour though! The villas have recently been freshened up with supremely crisp comfy new soft furnishings and fresh paint, the refurbishment of kitchen counters etc is due to start soon too. At no point do we question where our money is being spent as it is obviously being ploughed back into the resort which still feels like a good fit for so many people. Admittedly we had to alter our plans slightly because of the closures, there were a few moans and gripes from a couple of guests but management responded with compromise and reacted to suggestions. The resort embraced the gallows humour - who wouldn't want to win a complimentary Seaweed Wrap at Tranquility Spa?? Sargassum is a nightmare, from a business point of view it makes perfect sense to utilise the closure for much needed renovations which as returning guests we will all benefit from in the long run - so thank you to all the staff at SJC, we hope to see many familiar faces returning back to permanent staffing roles later in the year.
