Took a while to finally send this but guess better late then never. We were here from 3/28 - 4/1, we read all the stories on the norovirus bit chose to go anyway. Weather was fantastic, I think it rained one day for under 5 minutes. Yes, my Daughter got sick Wednesday, me Thursday and sadly my Son Thursday night into Friday morning but we still had a blast. Samuel and think Romero sorry of got name wrong, we're awesome, but all the pool staff were awesome. Since we did get sick, I didn't get to see all I wanted and made my mind up, coming back!!!!!! Cesspool of contamination-norovirus filled hotel!!!!

In my honest opinion we should have been warned about this place by our travel agent. Upon arriving, the hotel was in tired but ok shape, room was decent. However, pretty much the whole hotel was sick due to norovirus. We all got sick in our group-terribly sick one by one. Buffet was terrible and not a true buffet-due to norovirus contamination the hotel had taken measures to minimize surface contact by assigning staff to food stations. Most of the staff at this hotel, especially the wait staff in the terrace buffet area are very poorly trained, miserable and rude. They are unable to even get you a coffee or tea-it took on average half an hour to get service at a time. by the last day we were so fed up we went and got coffee from the kitchen ourselves. I will never ever go back to this place. This was a complete waste of my money! More>

Lovin’ Maho !!!

This was my 6th visit to this beautiful hotel in St. Maarten. The island is amazing with plenty of beautiful beaches, but Maho and their friendly staff make this a magnificent hotel to return to at the end of your day to spend the night. I think the main reason I return, is to see some of the familiar faces of the friendly and helpful staff at Maho. It was nice to see Margarede at the front desk again, she has a welcoming smile and remembered me from my last visit. Simone and Febrier still remember how I take my coffee, it has gotten to the point where I don’t even have to ask for my coffee. They know how to make the start of your day perfect. Of course I had to go to The Palms Grill for a great hamburger, and see Marilyn again, she also remembers how I like my burger. I did meet some new members of Maho at The Point restaurant. Where I had the most perfect steak dinner. Ramesis was my waiter, and he made The Point a perfect dining experience, by making the perfect suggestions for appetizers and desert. You know you had a great vacation, when you are sad to return home. I am already looking forward to my 7th visit to Maho. More>

Nice relaxing holiday

We traveled here April 14-21, 2016. Had a good time and enjoyed the resort. After having a seat on the Sunwing plane with no window (row 11a+b) we were quick through the airport as there is no customs check. Nice! Loaded luggage on a truck and then got onto 1 of 4 buses and had to wait till all 4 were full before leaving for hotel. Kind of silly because now everyone arrived at once and big line formed for check in. After getting to our superior room we had no king size bed (booked this request 3 months ago). Pushed the 2 doubles together and had an even bigger bed. No problem. Only other problem with room was the pounding from the rooftop night club. Turned up the AC fan to drown it out. Btw ac is freezing cold, beds super comfy. The wifi at the hotel was very good and had no problem once Onella from the front counter helped me connect. Each time I walked by she said hi and was very friendly. I found the front counter to one of the best I've ever dealt with. We enjoyed the beach and nice clear water, always found a lounger on the upper beach (never on lower). You may be fooled by the pics though because everything behind the pink railings is timeshare and not for us to sit at. Still we had always found a place to lay and had great service from the waitress. Lunch we ate at the Grill which had really good wings and some yummy dishes such as Carribean stew. Food came fast and staff was very friendly. Buffet was good but very small compared to other places we've been. Although small all the food was very good and the theme always changed. Had a good steak at the Ascot Pub and fish and chips. We really enjoyed the Point restaurant and wanted to go back but was full one night and closed the next due to the beach bbq. We went with another couple and the 2 girls got the norovirus and the guys didn't. The next day the buffet was serving everyone again and you could notice a thinning out of people at the beach and hotel grounds. Lots were in their rooms sick and when our friend asked the front desk how many ppl were sick they were told 2. Didn't appreciate that false statement but we suffered and got through it. The best beach is Mullet Bay and we spent a day there. Gorgeous white sand and super clear water. Because of cloudy weather we never made it back. Just walk up the street to the end, hang a left and follow the road through the golf course. 10 min walk. Don't waste your time with the scratch & win ppl. Its for time share. We didn't fall for for it. All in all a good holiday just a little quieter than others we've taken. No beach volleyball which I love, no sailing, and no evening shows. Every place can't be the same so enjoy it for what it is. A nice relaxing holiday with friendly staff. PS we drove around the island and the best snorkelling was along the rocks at our own beach. Island is Lovely - Hotel still has Virus
miller216, Boston, Massachusetts
Sun May 01 12:11:01 EDT 2016
We were skeptical to stay since we had heard about the Norovirus issues at the hotel since early March, but i had been told by staff that the hotel was 12 days virus free as of April 20th. Apparently the virus came back because my husband, myself and many others had terrible stomach issues - perhaps bad food if truly the virus was gone from the hotel? Rooms were adequate and the food was good - this is definitely an average hotel. Viewing the plans overhead was fun but the awful smell of jet fuel was overpowering - especially from our balcony (when asked if we could upgrade i was told we had already been upgraded (i'm not sure upgraded from what?) We would not stay here again - glad to get back home and feel better - Boston MA More>
