The service was the biggest problem. We had to contact a front desk a lot. No refill of the fridge - for three days. We haven't seen a card with beverages on our floor. Reception was only able to provide a water. I tried to get a two cans of beer from the lobby bar during a day (around 2PM). The lady would not give it. According to her: it is against hotel policy to give more than one beer can. BTW, the beer slim cans were very small 8.5 ounce. The same terrible service was everywhere. You ask waitresses for something, they forget. We went to the towel person - he wasn't at his station around 8AM. The best service was by security guards, that protect the private beach area. They were quick to move people out. We haven't seen any manager on the hotel property within 5 days stay. Beach area is very narrow. The beach attendant used to pick up the beach chairs very early, around 4PM. The food selection was very poor. If you compare the selection to the other all inclusive hotels in Caribbean - it doesn't stand the chance. For hotel rooms, please see pictures. They were awful. Room 337 was occupied by the hotel employees.

This will be my 3rd visit to Sonesta Maho Beach this April! and I am looking forward to it very much so! The only thing that I wish the resort had was new lounge chairs for the beach. This resort is very welcoming and friendly there is much to see and due in St. Maarten and many beaches to visit

Fun and relaxing

Airport only 5 mins away from resort. Rooms were adequate. Disappointed we didn't get king bed as requested. But weather, drinks and food made up for it. And then we befriended some of the staff who truly made our holiday better. Big thanks to Bettina and Marilyn at Palms Grill for looking after us and giving us much laughter and joy. We miss you and beer +clamato + the chicken wings. Big shout out to Ramone at swimup bar who worked his bums off. The airplanes flying overhead was a neat experience. And watching the people line up on beach for jet blasts was entertaining. And the strip of shops, restaurants/bars was nice stroll every night. And for those interested the Casino is right across the street. If there is one suggestion we could make is the poolside chairs need to be replaced. The bar on the chairs was a MAJOR killer on the back. Make sure you make reservations for Lava Rock supper. Super delicious. Had a massage/sauna at spa which was wonderful.(necessitated because of pool chair??) To all the staff at Sonesta, thanks for great holiday. And to Kirkland gang it was Awesome seeing you again. So many beers, so many chicken wings, so many laughs. Cheers!!

Balcony Room View of Raw Sewage Combined With Lacking Food Selections

First off we have been travelling as a group of approximately 10 family and friends since 2004 and go away once and sometimes twice a year. Been to the Dominican, Costa Rica, Aruba, Jamaica, Mexico, Cuba so have seen our fair share of resorts. This is the first time that I really felt that I needed to inform other potential travellers of what to expect. Stayed at the resort for a week Feb 12-19th. We were on the 7th floor and on back side of the hotel and the view from our rooms was actually open uncovered sewage flowing in the tanks below on the ground. I included a pic of the view. The main buffet was lacking as to selection, particularly in the evenings and mostly cold or luke warm at best. Seemed that once trays of food ran out were they were either left that way or taken away never to return. Mornings are not as bad as the usual eggs and bacon and such are all there, not much in the way of fruit. We went to a speciality restaurant called The Point and had steak and mashed potatoes, lasagne, pasta and all the meals were served cold, not even a touch warm. Not sure what is going on with the resort but management seems to be an issue and the place appears disorganized as to get settings for people as to glasses, forks, etc, which is a shame since the place has so much potential. On the positive side very nice view of Maho beach from the resort with planes landing and taking off which is entertaining. Our particular room was very nice and clean, as was the resort itself, other than the sewage view issue which obviously kept us off the patio. Maybe if they build a structure to cover these sewage tanks and really make an effort to vastly improve the food selection and quality I think this resort could be outstanding. Hopefully things will improve and just wanted to let any potential visitors know what to expect if placed on that side of the building and if food issues are not addressed.

I was in a remodeled room, very nice and comfortable. My biggest complaint about the room was the noise from the nightclubs across the street at night. Staff was friendly and always helpful. Really appreciated the hospitality room offered to take shower and clean up before going to airport late afternoon. My biggest complaint was the food, I would rate it less than mediocre. But, a big plus for the pizza!!! On a different note I was interested in ocean point for possibly next year. I asked about the restaurants and pools and asked if I could see the pools and told no. I stayed at great bay last year and the food there is fantastic and I would definitely go back to great bay on my next trip.
