Discover Poipu Beach's newest playground at the 391-room Sheraton Kauai Resort. A $16 million revitalization has brought new energy to the guest experience at this 20-acre retreat. A modern, refurbished entry leads to the beautifully landscaped open-air Ocean Courtyard lounge. Adorned with tiki torches and six conversation areas - three with fire pits - it's the perfect spot for cocktails under the stars.

Sheraton Kauai Resort's 391 rooms, including its 11 suites, are housed in eight buildings no higher than a mature coconut tree. Grouped together in three different locations, the room categories are identified according to their primary view: Garden Wing, Ocean Wing, and Beach Wing.

The expanded, multi-level pool sits just above the beach and is lined with eight private cabanas equipped with chaise lounges, a flat-screen TV, and ceiling fan. Lava's on Poipu Beach, the resort's new open-air restaurant and beach bar, is just steps away from the pool and ocean. Rum Fire is the island's newest hot spot, serving up nearly 180-degree ocean views from all 240 seats. The innovative Rum Fire menu features Hawaiian cuisine with global influences.

Kauai is a wonderland of outdoor activity and adventure, and Sheraton Kauai Resort serves as your base camp. Naturally, given the perfect oceanfront location, you will find unlimited beach activities right outside your door. Scuba and snorkeling equipment, boogie boards, and beach cabanas are available at the Activity Center adjacent to the Ocean Pool. The resort offers two swimming pools: a brand new oceanfront pool and a tranquil garden pool. You also have access to a fitness center and a news/internet library. Excellent shopping and numerous local attractions are within walking distance.

The supposed garden room overlooked the parking lot on on side and a construction site on the other. There wasn't a garden in sight, even the lawn was torn up. I am sending photos to your office for you to see I definitely am not exaggerating.

You just can not get a better Hotel/Resort from the check in, conceire Roxy was the best, Maid service, to the breakfast buffet, Rental car agent and the Valet { they were great}. This Hotel was on point everyday of our vacation. We loved it and will be back!! The Restaurant lacked pizzaz! Food was mediocre at best it just wasn't what you would expect from an SPG hotel!

This was one of many packages that we have booked through Apple vacations. I was a travel agent and use Apple for 23 years personally. This, by far was the worst resort that I have been too. The trip began with a delay in our flights which we totally understand. Unfortunately during the flights been delayed our luggage was lost. After two days without our luggage, and the girl at the front desk when we checked in Who just didn't care that we have been trying to get there for the past 36 hours. She informed us the room that we had rented (because we couldn't make it to the hotel the night prior because of the flight delay) was given to another couple. I explained that I had contacted via email the concierge four times and they knew that we would not be making it at night because our flight was canceled. Unfortunately she did not care and gave us a room with two double beds's. (King room was requested) after we complained the next morning they didn't move us to a much better room with a king size bed. I was not happy with the resort altogether, especially with it being a Sheraton, the rooms were small outdated, the air conditioning kept going out, the TV reception kept going out. And with no change of clothes we were pretty much stuck in a room until her like it's arrived. At 3 o'clock the day after we arrived I contacted United because we still had not received our luggage. They stated they located the luggage in Los Angeles and we would be receiving our luggage by 9 PM that night. By 4 o'clock the next day we still have not received our luggage and I again called United. The very helpful woman on the phone explained that it was delivered to the Sheraton at 9:23 the night prior. I called down to the bell desk to ask if they had our luggage the gentleman on the phone said he had no idea, but he would go look in the storage area and see if it was there. 30 minutes later a knock on the door and the Bellman was there with our two bags. I threw my hands up in the air and said yes we can finally go to the beach ha ha Ha , Thank you so much for bringing it finally! His reply was nothing he turned around and walked away, no apology for keeping our luggage for an additional 13 hours, no apology for us having to stay in our hotel and wasting yet another day on our vacation that should've started three days prior , no I'm sorry no thank you, no bringing the luggage into my room, he just turned and walked away. My Faith in the Sheraton, and Apple vacations was lost at that moment.

Nice but used to be better.

Eight years ago we had an excellent experience at the Sheraton Kauai so we chose them again. It is still nice--clean,comfortable beds/rooms but they have cut back on the extras. All-inclusive breakfast used to be lavish and outstanding (lots of variety,gourmet/fine dining quality), now it is more like you would find at a good travel hotel.Internet connection is poor (even w/ extra router);we needed to address an office emergency and what should have taken 10 min on-line took several hours. Staff was friendly and housekeeping was responsive to requests for more soap, towels, etc. Next time we go to Kauai we will probably try different accommodations.

I will never use Apple Vacations or return to this hotel

Upon arrival to the hotel, I was informed I did not have a reservation by the front desk staff. The FD manager was summoned, and he was extremely rude. The FD manager did not greet me but instead responded to the FD clerk by saying, "What is the problem here?" I was then told that my reservation had been cancelled two days after booking by an Apple rep, which came as a complete surprise to me. I had received all travel documents in the mail, and the $4200 charge for the trip was on my credit card. I was informed they would provide a room for just one night. I had just travelled 14 hours by plane and was exhausted. The front desk manager was again rude and said, "We will be in touch with your travel agent in the morning, and I suggest you do the same.” I called AV as soon as they opened and was informed my reservation had not been cancelled by AV. When I went to the front desk the next morning, I was told that the package that was offered via the AV website was no longer available and should have been informed this by AV. The FD staff was again rude and said I could continue to stay at the hotel. Neither the hotel nor AV apologized to me. I was treated so poorly I will never use AV or return to this hotel.

I’ll start by saying that I’ve been speaking very highly of Sheratons lately. The Sheratons in Honolulu, downtown Los Angeles and Times Square New York we’re excellent. While the hotels are not quite as nice as Westin’s, the service almost seems better in many ways. They’ve been very welcoming at check-in and upgraded our rooms when available (complementary as Gold Elite members). This Sheraton was not quite on par with the others. We stayed a few nights as part of a time-share sales package, and a few extra nights on top of this offer. Upon check-in, it was very blah. No Leis like other Hawaiian resorts, barely a smile at the front desk and no “thank you” for being a Gold Elite member. When we asked about getting an upgraded room, the woman at the desk pulled out a piece of paper. She proceeded to write down a price and say this is the normal price for the upgraded room. Then crossed it off as said, this is the discounted price. Then crossed that off and said we could have the special SPG price of only $125/night for the room. Seriously!?!? What’s with the used car salesman deal? This was an immediate turn off. We stuck with the ocean view instead of the ocean front for the extra price. When I asked the manager, she said that upgrade is only for Platinum members, not Gold. We travel around the world quite a bit, and this was the first time we heard this. Maybe I can understand for the first few nights under the package deal, but they wouldn’t even do it for the extra nights outside the deal. Our room had a small ocean view, but was on a lower floor. The bed was comfortable and the A/C worked very well. The television was large and there was a refrigerator in the room, which was great. The decor was very bland and outdated. The shower took about ten minutes to get warm and when you flushed the toilet, the sound of the tank refilling could wake the neighbors. There was also very loud construction going on, which was a bit annoying. The location of the resort was excellent. Right on the ocean with a nice stretch of beach to go in the water. The pool was rather small compared to other resorts in Hawaii and rather unimpressive. Last time we were in Kauai, we stayed down the street at the Grand Hyatt. As SPG Gold members, we try to be brand loyal. However, this Sheraton couldn’t even compare to the Hyatt, and there is no doubt we would go back to the Hyatt instead next time. We love SPG, but sorry Sheraton, you really missed the mark on this property.

Not What I've Come to Expect from Sheraton

We recently spent 10 days on the beautiful island of Kauai, Hawaii. The last 2 days were spent on the south end of the island at the Sheraton Kauai Resort. We had already spent a day at The Sheraton Beach Resort near Lihue and the greatest portion of our stay at the Westin .in Princeville .on the north shore. Both of these places met or exceeded our expectations. It is only fair to say are Sheraton Vistana Owners, a time share ,and have been for years. We checked into the Sheraton Kauai Resort in the lovely lobby area and were told we had been upgraded to a partial ocean view room. Immediately after being told that we were told for another 129.00 'we could stay at the portion of the resort right .on the beach- not across the street from the beach. This seemed very tacky to me- if you're going to upgrade someone do it! Don't give us a slightly better room across the street and then offer us a very nice room for a price. We had paid for our room through the tineshare using points as we almost always do. I will say- for the same amount of points we stayed at the Lihue Sheraton .in a much nicer room then the one we were " upgraded" to at this location. After turning down the offer to pay for a really nice room we went to see the concierge. She was very nice and explained some of the activities in the area. She signed us up for an "update" regarding the time share even though we had just had an update at Princeville earlier in the week. They offer incentives for attending these presentations which cost the company money. We were offered 129.00 at the formal restaurant on the property and the concierge even made our reservation there. We stated several times that we had attended an " update" The concierge assured us it was fine- they didn't have anything to sell us because the work they were doing in that resort was not far enough along to sell units. We finally did agree to attend the " update" . We were given a certificate for a free day of valet service and pointed to the valet desk. We were told he would park our car and take care of our luggage. We approached the valet with the certificate and he pointed to a parking lot across the street- told us it would be best to park there- as the entrance to our building was close. He then dismissed us. We parked our own car and schlepped our own luggage to our upgraded room. So much for free valet service. The room itself was almost completely out of the 70s. The bed was new and as comfortable as Sheraton beds are- they have greatly improved .on the mattress they use. The tiny, tiny bathroom looked like something from a cheap motel. The shower and toilet were in one tiny room and the sink in another little space. The sink was so old some of the finish was coming off. There- was a wooden ledge right above it and it was damaged from people spilling make- up and whatever else gets spilled .in bathroom sink areas. There- was not even a make- up mirror- there was no room for one. We were not happy with the room overall considering we had paid the same amount of points at another Sheraton on the island and gotten a much nicer room. It was also obvious there were nicer rooms because they offered one to us for a price. I must make mention in all the years we have owned with Sheraton and been upgraded or asked to be upgraded actually paying more for the upgrade has never been brought up- never. So much for the free valet and the upgraded room. We planned a number of activities and enjoyed those. When it came time to go for the " update" 'we arrived on time and were met by a woman who immediately pointed out we had just had an update earlier in the week and had purchased a Maui package. She asked what more we thought she could do for us since we had not invested in any more of the timeshare itself. What do you say? We explained that we had been assured this was ok and had questioned the 2nd update ourselves. This woman asked us who our concierge was and said she would have to have a talk with her. We felt awful. We felt like we were trying to cheat the system, like we were wasting this saleswomans time. This whole thing had not been our idea. I'm sure the concierge is pushed to set up these " updates" and the salespeople are pushed to sell so we can understand why this saleswoman acted like we were wasting her time but that should be worked out privately- not infront of guests who had nothing to do with the system. The woman did finally pull herself together and we sat down and looked at some other options which we also turned down. We got our restaurant certificate and left. I have let management know about all of these things and we got a generic " too bad how sad- we'll do better next time. " I felt we at the least deserved some of our points back. I would not recommend staying there or giving up any vacation time to attend a sales presentation -owner or not.

A vacation to remember

In my travel history I have visited many high end hotels; none compare to the Sheraton Kauai. They have the true meaning of ohana. From the moment we pulled up to the hotel, we were treated fabulously, smiles all around, friendly staff throughout the week. We will be back. What we thought was a once in a lifetime has turned into the next time. Thank you so much for making our celebration truly spectacular!

I have been to Kauai a handful of times and the last two times I have stayed at the Sheraton, and I will probably continue to stay at the Sheraton. It makes things so easy. It's a nice, central location that still feels calm & comfortable. There's a great natural foods store & drugstore a 2 min drive away & everything else you can get at the hotel. Sheraton isn't the cheapest, but I feel like I get what I pay for - the staff is all really nice and friendly, the spaces are clean & well-kept, it's safe, well-monitored. I've paid more for other places in Kauai and not been as happy. I've paid less and been much less comfortable. I feel like I'm getting a good deal for what I get at the Sheraton. Oh, but the food is expensive. It's good, but it's expensive. Food is expensive pretty much everywhere on the island though. The pool / beach area is incredible. I haven't been to the other pool yet. I really like staying here.
