Sheraton Kauai Resort's 391 rooms, including its 11 suites, are housed in eight buildings no higher than a mature coconut tree. Grouped together in three different locations, the room categories are identified according to their primary view: Garden Wing, Ocean Wing, and Beach Wing.

The expanded, multi-level pool sits just above the beach and is lined with eight private cabanas equipped with chaise lounges, a flat-screen TV, and ceiling fan. Lava's on Poipu Beach, the resort's new open-air restaurant and beach bar, is just steps away from the pool and ocean. Rum Fire is the island's newest hot spot, serving up nearly 180-degree ocean views from all 240 seats. The innovative Rum Fire menu features Hawaiian cuisine with global influences.

You just can not get a better Hotel/Resort from the check in, conceire Roxy was the best, Maid service, to the breakfast buffet, Rental car agent and the Valet { they were great}. This Hotel was on point everyday of our vacation. We loved it and will be back!! The Restaurant lacked pizzaz! Food was mediocre at best it just wasn't what you would expect from an SPG hotel!

This was one of many packages that we have booked through Apple vacations. I was a travel agent and use Apple for 23 years personally. This, by far was the worst resort that I have been too. The trip began with a delay in our flights which we totally understand. Unfortunately during the flights been delayed our luggage was lost. After two days without our luggage, and the girl at the front desk when we checked in Who just didn't care that we have been trying to get there for the past 36 hours. She informed us the room that we had rented (because we couldn't make it to the hotel the night prior because of the flight delay) was given to another couple. I explained that I had contacted via email the concierge four times and they knew that we would not be making it at night because our flight was canceled. Unfortunately she did not care and gave us a room with two double beds's. (King room was requested) after we complained the next morning they didn't move us to a much better room with a king size bed. I was not happy with the resort altogether, especially with it being a Sheraton, the rooms were small outdated, the air conditioning kept going out, the TV reception kept going out. And with no change of clothes we were pretty much stuck in a room until her like it's arrived. At 3 o'clock the day after we arrived I contacted United because we still had not received our luggage. They stated they located the luggage in Los Angeles and we would be receiving our luggage by 9 PM that night. By 4 o'clock the next day we still have not received our luggage and I again called United. The very helpful woman on the phone explained that it was delivered to the Sheraton at 9:23 the night prior. I called down to the bell desk to ask if they had our luggage the gentleman on the phone said he had no idea, but he would go look in the storage area and see if it was there. 30 minutes later a knock on the door and the Bellman was there with our two bags. I threw my hands up in the air and said yes we can finally go to the beach ha ha Ha , Thank you so much for bringing it finally! His reply was nothing he turned around and walked away, no apology for keeping our luggage for an additional 13 hours, no apology for us having to stay in our hotel and wasting yet another day on our vacation that should've started three days prior , no I'm sorry no thank you, no bringing the luggage into my room, he just turned and walked away. My Faith in the Sheraton, and Apple vacations was lost at that moment.

Nice but used to be better.

Eight years ago we had an excellent experience at the Sheraton Kauai so we chose them again. It is still nice--clean,comfortable beds/rooms but they have cut back on the extras. All-inclusive breakfast used to be lavish and outstanding (lots of variety,gourmet/fine dining quality), now it is more like you would find at a good travel hotel.Internet connection is poor (even w/ extra router);we needed to address an office emergency and what should have taken 10 min on-line took several hours. Staff was friendly and housekeeping was responsive to requests for more soap, towels, etc. Next time we go to Kauai we will probably try different accommodations.

I will never use Apple Vacations or return to this hotel

Upon arrival to the hotel, I was informed I did not have a reservation by the front desk staff. The FD manager was summoned, and he was extremely rude. The FD manager did not greet me but instead responded to the FD clerk by saying, "What is the problem here?" I was then told that my reservation had been cancelled two days after booking by an Apple rep, which came as a complete surprise to me. I had received all travel documents in the mail, and the $4200 charge for the trip was on my credit card. I was informed they would provide a room for just one night. I had just travelled 14 hours by plane and was exhausted. The front desk manager was again rude and said, "We will be in touch with your travel agent in the morning, and I suggest you do the same.” I called AV as soon as they opened and was informed my reservation had not been cancelled by AV. When I went to the front desk the next morning, I was told that the package that was offered via the AV website was no longer available and should have been informed this by AV. The FD staff was again rude and said I could continue to stay at the hotel. Neither the hotel nor AV apologized to me. I was treated so poorly I will never use AV or return to this hotel.

Not the best option in the area

My (then) fiancé and I were visiting the south shore of Kaua’i for a couple of days before we headed to the north shore for our wedding. We stayed at the Sheraton resort for one night using some Starwood points. Overall, we felt that the Sheraton did not live up to expectations. We stayed by the airport the previous night, and then did the Outfitters downhill bike tour in the Waimea Canyon the morning of the day we were to check-in at the Sheraton. We finished the bike tour in the late morning, and were hoping to drop off our luggage, so we thought why not try and check-in to the Sheraton a bit early? Although we did not expect the room to be available that early (it wasn’t), the front desk agent was less than pleasant to us when we asked to check-in early. She did instruct us to give our luggage to the porter who would store them for us until our room was ready. Once we had given our bags to the porter, we decided to walk around the resort to scope it out. The resort itself is very nice, with a lovely lobby and common area, convenience store, what looks to be a brand new gym, and great access to a wonderful beach directly adjacent to the resort grounds. After about a half an hour or so of walking around the resort, we then left to meet with our friends (who were staying elsewhere nearby) for lunch and other activities in Poipu/Koloa while we waited for our room to become available. On our way out to the car, we noticed that our bags were not yet in the luggage room; instead, the porter had placed our bags on a bell cart and just left them off to the side next to a high traffic area where people walk into the lobby. We thought this was not cool at all. A couple of hours later, as we were returning to the Sheraton, we got a notification that our room was ready. We were given a second floor garden view room in one of the buildings across the street from the main lobby/oceanside part of the resort. We were hoping for something a little better given the Starwood status and that we used Starwood points, but since it was for only one night it was fine. However, we were disappointed when we found that our room was adjacent to and our balcony was facing a large and noisy construction site on the resort (picture included). The room itself was nice, and the bed was comfortable. However, we noticed a large yellow toolbag on the bathroom counter, along with somebody’s iphone (presumably owned by the same person) charging on the bathroom outlet (picture included). We called the front desk to notify them, and were told that there had been a miscommunication and we actually shouldn’t have been given access to the room yet. Further, we were told that there was something that needed to be patched up in the closet (the reason for the tool bag), and they asked if we could vacate the room for an hour or so. We found this whole situation to be highly unprofessional, and definitely not what one would expect from a Starwood owned resort property. Nonetheless, we quickly changed and left for the beach. The experiences described above left us quite disappointed with the Sheraton Kaua’i resort, especially considering the price/number of points we paid for our stay. We told ourselves afterwards that we were glad we were only there for one night, and extremely relieved that our actual wedding was taking place somewhere else. I would definitely recommend one of the other numerous accommodation options when staying in the Poipu area, even Airbnb - our friends had a better experience with their Airbnb than we did with the Sheraton!

I went with my husband on a business trip to Kauai and we stayed at the Sheraton. The resort was beautiful, the access to the beach was amazing. The restaurants on the property were all great as well. The staff went above and beyond to make sure our stay was great . We will be returning!

Did the promo- it was worth it!

I am normally skeptical of timeshare promo kind of things but the email I received seemed legit, and it was. It was $680 for 5 nights and a $185 credit for a rental car. You get a $75 resort credit off the bat, and have the no-pressure option of listening to the 90 minute timeshare presentation for an additional $125 gift certificate to Rumfire- their premier restaurant. We also got two free bottles of wine for celebrating an anniversary. Yes, we were aware of construction going on- but we only planned to use the room for sleeping, so that wasn’t a big deal. The beds were super comfy and being across her street for the garden view was totally fine. If not for this promo, we likely would not have been able to experience Hawaii. We actually came two days early and did Airbnb because a garden room at Sheraton was $400+. So the deal was totally worth it. All of the staff were really nice and food was decent. Expensive, but such is life in Hawaii. I would def recommend the Sheraton, and would say go for it if you get a similar promo. Also- the luau was great! Breakfast at Lavas was def amazing- better than their dinner and lunch options. Sunsets can’t be beat and the snorkeling was great. We saw sea turtles and monk seals :) the tiki torches and fire pits at night were awesome. We would definitely come back again!

Great beach but average rooms

We spent a week here April 21-28 2018. We booked an ocean front room and were initially on the ground floor. The ground floor rooms have a nice sized patio with a good view, but it’s not screened from the walking path leading to the beach. As a result there was no privacy while using the patio. We requested a room on a higher floor, and had to wait several days, but were finally moved to a room on the second floor with a smaller balcony and much less space- not what we had hoped for. The decor was odd. It could have been a hotel room anywhere- there was nothing tropical about it. Average bathroom with not much space. Average shower. Lava’s restaurant, on site, was pretty awful. Although we had an included breakfast, we got tired of eating there after a few days and went elsewhere. Rim Fire was better for dinner. The pool is dated and rather boring, we never used it. In summary, the facility could really use a major update. The best thing about the hotel is the wonderful beach. It’s right outside the hotel. The waves are great, it’s clean and not crowded. There were a pair of Hawaiian monk seals who sunned themselves on the sand most days.

Clean and nice but strange remodel

1. Beautiful view of ocean/coast from room. 2. Only one small towel rack in bathroom. All hand towels & wash cloths had to be stacked on countertop. 3. No hooks to hang wet towels, clothes, etc. They frown on draping such things over outside railing, etc. to dry. 4. No microwave in room... available for $10/day extra. 5. AC unit was loud and had initial high volume of air flow at startup. Blew cold air right onto head of the beds. Oh, and the beds are amazingly comfortable. 6. No screen on sliding glass door to patio. Many gnats and tiny mosquitoes hang out at the doors and zoom inside when opened. Leave a light on in the bathroom and they are generally dead on the floor the next morning. Also, we didn't get any bites, so may be too small to do so. 7. No night light or electrical outlets on patio... maybe by design due to bugs. 8. Food at onsite restaurants was pricey (+/- $15.00 for an 8 oz. maitai packed w/ice). 9. Staff very nice and helpful. 10. Used SPG points to book Garden View room but due to adjacent remodel construction and small room size upgraded to Ocean Front for extra $150/night. Special occasion so worth it. 11. They add a $30/day resort fee but we couldn't figure out what it covered because only things w/no additional charge seemed to be pool/beach towels and chairs near the pool. Swim fins were an additional $8 per day. 12. Reef in front of the resort is wonderful with lots of sea life, is relatively shallow and vis was about 30 feet. Waves were significant April 23-29, 2018. A bit tricky getting in and out, e.g., getting in: walk in quickly between waves, and dive through waves until beyond where they crest; getting out: wait for a low set of waves, swim to shore quickly until shallow, stand and walk out quickly turning to the side and bracing yourself as waves come in. 13. Keoki's restaurant nearby was priced reasonably, food was wonderful (had lots of Kalua and barbecue pork sandwiches with Hawaiian coleslaw... YUM), great atmosphere (covered dining area with vegetation all around) w/ live entertainment, and you keep getting coupons for their amazing, massive, signature ice-cream pie for free. 14. Buy your food at Big Save grocery store in nearby Koloa. 15. Avoid heavy rush hour traffic each weekday around 4-6 PM coming from Lihue toward Koloa/Poipu. I assume its heavy toward Lihue in the morning as well. 16. Rented car (2018 Nissan Sentra) from Budget. Reasonable cost. Noted numerous small dings, etc. at check-out. They said only worry about "golfball sized" damage. Must be true because we weren't charged for existing minor damage. 17. We were on the bottom floor and it was quiet until new people checked in our last night. Very noisy foot traffic above us until well past midnight. Could also hear bathroom noises (eewww!) 18. Overall, had a great time but spent more $ than we anticipated. Considering a B&B next time.
