Nice place has some issues though

We came back from a week in Panama starting July 6, 2016. Our room was 1616. The location of the room was excellent being centered in the property with a full pool and ocean view. The room was OK needed some fix-up and clean-up and new upholstery on the one chair in the room that was upholstered. One big problem though is the glass wall on the side facing out did not provide any, and I mean any, sound proofing. Despite the fact that the Hotel has an unused entertainment facility they chose to do their entertainment on the patio below the room on the glass wall side. (Which gives all guest on the ocean side of the main building more noise and discomfort then you may have bargained for). Needless to say there might as well have not been a wall because it was as if the speakers were inside of our room. We could have lived with that because they stopped the shows by 10:15 to 10:30, however, the Hotel allowed and setup parties on the same patio after the show and the nonstop yelling, screaming and shouting would go on until 2:30-3:30 am EVERY NIGHT. The noise level made it impossible to sleep. Each night after complaining we were able to get the Hotel to send security to run the drunks off except one night when we were told that the drunks had made arrangements to have their party at the expense of the other guest until 2:30 am and that they would not breakup the drunks until 2:30 am came. SOMETHING MUST BE DONE ABOUT THIS INCONSIDERATE ACTIVITY BEING ALLOWED TO GO UNCHECKED AT THE EXPENSE OF OTHERS. The maid service was on our room was great. Much detail to cleaning the room and common areas. Exception was as to not leaving TP and Coffee. (The coffee when left does not fit the coffee pot provided). I read of complaints of wet floors but the only wet floors I saw were from cleaning, water out of the tub or swim suits. The food was OK and plentiful but tasteless. No spices used on most of the food at any of the restaurants (but that is Panama). The specialty restaurants were good, well plated, nice presentation, good portions but again lacking in seasoning. I was pleased with the food but there is room for improvement. The grounds, beach and pools were to die for. Knock your lights out pretty. Again, there is a need for more seating in the beach area. (The towel on a chair hog game was out of hand.) We were there when the crowds were light, I do not know how they would hold up under a crowd. I will say that there was a big crowd on July 9 compared to the other days and there was no seating in the restaurant, pushy tourist (which seemed the norm for the S.A. tourist that comprised 90% of those staying there), crowded and it seemed understaffed. Most of the employees were very attentive. As in all cases there were some that had a little attitude but that was rare. Lots of families and kids but plenty for them to do. We used the spa and were pleased. It was medium priced and uncrowded. There is room for change but we would recommend this place with the caveats concerning the noise being the biggest complaint. Remember you are 2+ hours from the airport, the traffic is uncontrolled chaos, being on the road puts your life on the line. I did rent a car and traveled around to Valle de Anton and else where but driving is not for the faint of heart. More>

2 Mediocre Restaurants does NOT make a Resort Hotel

They rate themselves as a 4.5 star resort. Wow. No one else would. The very young and haughty, inexperienced staff, do not make the stay a pleasant one. It was clean though we saw small cockroaches several times and once in my bag.  Room service is quite fast. Food is varied. Next. If you enjoy mold, you are in paradise. We didn’t actually see any but the smell of Mold is so bad it is sometimes overwhelming. Like at night when you must close the sliding door. Yes its humid but how do all other hotels deal with it? The smell of mold is so prevalent they use air freshener in “open to outside hallways” Then there are the very Slippery floors. Everywhere. Downright dangerous. There is very little English with staff so be prepared for that. When we asked about the noise one day, we were told that it would be like that continually, and if we wanted quite we could only get it by upgrading to a suite. It was so loud we couldn’t hear ourselves talk. We had no choice but to upgrade at an additional $450 into a hideous suite and an empty hotel. Our original room was by far nicer. The moment we were finally moved, the party had died down and the noise was over. We felt quite scammed as it was never noisy again. With the suite we got however, Kleenex in the bathroom, cushions for the chairs, Coffee for the coffee makers, (tho using a large filter with a 1-cup system makes a mess every time), Q-tips and mouthwash. Wow. Entertainment? Lol. The piano bar was empty the entire week. Not once was the piano played. Fountains turned off. Hotel is not near anything and if you don’t speak Spanish you are isolated as we were told it wasn’t safe to rent a car. The entertainment? An outdoor chess set and a disco night. All in all a Terrible and expensive disappointment. Does have a nice gym. More>

The service and accommodations were great. There were plenty of options for food and drink. There is three restaurants, a buffett, and a snack bar. There is also a swim up bar, piano bar, and sports/snack bar. The fun entertainment was both in the afternoon and in the evening. We did an all inclusive package, so everything was paid for. We started our days with long walks along the beach and then came back for lunch and entertainment by the pool. We ended our day at the piano bar, where there was an outstanding pianist. On the last evening we were surprised with champagne in our room. The staff was very helpful, providing us with what ever we needed. More>

I did a reservation on this hotel checking in on a sunday and leaving on a tuesday. My previous experience was great but this one was the total opposite. My first interaction was at the lobby bar where my wife asked for a Pina Colada, and the bartender told me that they didnt have and he had no idea if they would have it during the day because it was sunday. At the pool bar, asked for a mojito, and it was done with vodka and seco because they were out of rum (also there was no pina colada mix). Asked if they would bring more, and he told me, no. All meals (lunch and dinner) had 2 types of pasta, always, variety was poor and there was a case were they had chicken wings. I took 2, my wife took 2 and they were raw inside (they even had blod), we shared this with the chefs and they told us, "not all are like that" (how could we identify which one were cooked and which were not??? if they were all on the same pot). Snacks were not served on the same place and it was not shared with guest were they were going to serve them on each specific day. I asked the people in the front desk, waiters and people around and they all gave me different answers. very disappointing. the Juices used for cocktails on the pool bar were all done with "tang" like drinks, taste was not good at all. The room A/C did a lot of noise, and the room next to us was so close that we heard all their conversations, so I think the same happened to us. I want to mention that the service was good, all waiters and people that assisted us were very kind and polite. I was very disappointing because from all of the resorts I visited in Panama, this was the best in quality and service, but unfortunately this was my worst experience. Not sure if this was because it was the week after school vacations, but if we paid for something we should receive it. Not sure if I would give this place another chance. More>

Disappointed guest service specially from the quality care supervisor

I booked 2 rooms, june 2016. One of the room had lots of problems (safebox not working, telephone not working, the room door and bathroom door was broken). The maintenance and security team came to fix the issues but it wasn't solved. I went to the reception around 5:00pm to tell them about the issues and also went there to get the other room keys, but I was ignored by the front desk team. After, when they decided to assist me they told me that the second room wasn't ready yet and I needed to go back again to pick-up the keys. The reception team (excluding Libertad) and the quality care SUPERVISOR were careless. The supervisor told me that she needed to investigate the case, but she never get back to me. Is very disappointing how they take care of their guests. I got to give big thanks to Libertad (GSA), the only one that helped and care for their guests. Some may have good experiences and some don't. The resort is small but nice, the restaurant buffet is not bad, the room facilities is a bit old and most of them has no balcony. If they don't care for their guests, there are many other resorts options in Panama. KUDOS for Libertad (GSA) and Pedro (bellboy). More>
