Beautiful resort
Jul 22 2016
The resort is beautiful and the service was excellent. While the buffet was consistently only fair, the restaurant meals were excellent! Plan ahead and make reservations for the restaurants, it's worth it! We had a wonderful stay, but the last night was quite noisy- there appeared to be a lot of locals there and the partying went on all night. Other than that the resort was quiet and relaxing. It is about a 2 hour drive to the airport and any tours that you would want to do. It was worth it though to be on the beach!!!

The best resort

I have traveled Around the world and this resort was one of the best! The staff was attentive and friendly.. The managers made sure everything was personal and perfect. The rooms and the food were excellent . Never had such attention to detail and personal detail. Highly recommend this resort.

Family friendly resort

Very nice resort. Depending upon traffic volume from airport it is a 2-3 hours commute to the resort. The buildings are very old, but the staff works very hard to keep everything shinning.

This is our fourth trip with Apple. There was no Apple representative on site at our hotel and information about optional tours, excursions, activities, etc. was limited. We did not have an introductory session upon arrival as we had on other Apple trips.

We were changed an additional fee to get a balcony room at check in. The pool bar had small children, driving, rude, unsupervised.

Very nice hotel, wonderful staff! The only comment is make sure you know your Spanish, it is very hard to find anyone that speaks english. I'm thankful that my husband speaks Spanish otherwise communications would have been very difficult.

Nice Hotel
Dec 18 2012
We booked the hotel knowing little about it - the rooms were basic but nice. As with many Central American hotels everything is tiled - no carpet - so as expected you can hear the next room but thankfully the hotel wasn't very full when we were there. The staff was excellent and food was great. We were very happy overall with the hotel and the service. Best brush up on some Spanish as not all the staff could speak English - and ask questions about nightly entertainment as it was a mystery to us what they had in store for us each night we were there. If you are taking an excursion - be sure to see the old part of the city either coming from or on the way to the airport. It is going through a major transformation. Overall we would recommend this resort.

Quiet but clean and beautiful resort
Sep 26 2012
We stayed five nights at the Sheraton Bijao Beach Resort. We didnt realize it was rainy season when we went (Sept), so it was overcast 40% of the time. The resort is about 2 hours from the airport and Panama City, so if you want to do any excursions be prepared for a long car trip. Overall the resort itself was very beautiful and sits right on the beach front. It was quiet while we were there (we were there Mon-Sat so not too many local weekenders were there) so there were always chairs at the pool and reservation spots for dinner. There were quite a number of kids at the "adult" pool so sometime it was a wait to get a spot at the swim up bar. The food was typical resort type food, but it was a little better of a selection and all of the restaurant entrees and appetizers were good (we especially like the Hibichi!!) The rooms were clean but modest with no real ammenities other than bottled water - no liquor or beer in the fridge. Overall it was a relaxing vacation and a beautiful country with lovely people.

Beautiful beach and swimming pools

We stayed for 5 nights and we enjoyed the 3 swimming pools especially the infinity pool and the jacuzzi and the long walks in the beautiful clean and empty beach, the sea was too ruff as it's the Pacific Ocean with massive waves, everything was clean and the maintenance staff worked very hard to keep everything beautiful, there is lots of positives and a few negatives but in general we did enjoy our vacation and recommend this hotel in low season for relaxation. The staff is friendly and helpful but we spoke in Spanish with them, the location in far from the airport and $220 return expensive, the food is good but they need to improve the variety of dishes and more local produce like fresh fish, seafood, mangoes, avocados and coconuts, the Japanese restaurant is good and the other two are ok, the rooms are big and spacious with confortable mattress and with a beautiful sea view but with a terrible musty smell (also one of the beds was broken) and flooded bathrooms, everytime we used the shower the bathroom got flooded with slippery floors, we reported the issue but we came to the conclusion that they have the same problem in quite a lot of rooms and they don't seem to care, there is 2 beautiful friendly stray cats and 2 dogs that live in the hotel grounds, we feed them every day, broke my heart that the hotel don't seem to care about this animals they are very skinny and starving is quite obvious that they live in their hotel premises or around and they made the tourists happy and welcome specially one of the dogs so friendly and kind. Please be kind to them they need attention I am an animal lover and I don't understand how it's possible that this animals are in such a bad shape in an all inclusive hotel, why the staff is not looking after them? Positives The swimming pools and beautiful beach Negatives Bathroom, more variety of local produce, the stray animals that live in beach next to the hotel need to be look after as they are very friendly but starved. Location Far from the airport but easy to get to if you paid $220 return, beautiful location with an amazing beach tropical location but far from the city,

My family and I took day off for two nights in this resort. We worked too hard and this place deserves us. At the check in front desk, the people greeted you with a smile. It was super easy! They gave us two set of card keys. We walked to our rooms a short distance from the lobby. There is a huge bathroom and two double beds. The beach view was super close to our window. The resort is sited nearby the beach anyway. The daily meals are included in our price. We are a family of 5. We paid about $600 for the two nights. So it was not so bad. The diner is a buffet style type, and it offered similar menu everyday. I didn’t care; I just eat as much as I can. Don’t forget the alcohols are also part of the price you pay. You drink whatever you like. I’m quite satisfied with my stay. Recommended.

We went to this resort last month and have mixed feelings about our stay We did have fun, but also did experience various disappointments and frustration; thus, I would like to leave this objective review for those who booked a trip to this hotel so that they know what to expect First, it is NOT a 4 start resort in American standards. Those who went to 4 start resorts in Mexico, Jamaica, DR etc. will be disappointed. It is 2-star resort at best. In our room, we had no blow dryer, no night table lamp, no robes, no slippers, only one chair. The toiler didn’t flush well, you would have to mess with it to get it to work. The phone didn’t have a direct front-desk dial button. After a small fight and several back and forth talks and calls, we did receive all objects mentioned above. The staff DID try to help us and WAS very accommodating. Also, we did receive a great ocean view room, which did balance out some discomfort. During our stay, the elevator broke for half a day. In a gym, only one of three treadmills was working. In the third day of our stay, the third one broke also. The food in a breakfast is scarce at best. We had to fight to get some ketchup, yogurt and cheese. Overall the breakfast is adequate, with omelets cooked for your, but nowhere near the breakfasts served at Mexican or DR counterparts of this resorts. The dinners are OK, there is nothing specifically negative that can be said about them However, the main discomfort can come from the fact that this resort is NOT for international English-speaking middle-class tourists. This resort is for working-class locals. If you come and stay here during the weekend, you will NOT enjoy it. You will find yourself in an overcrowded resort where NO ONE speaks English. You will NOT be able to get a place at the bar, to get a chair at the beach. You will find yourself in a middle of Spanish speaking screaming working class crowd and feel out of place. The undisciplined kids are everywhere. You will NOT be able to enjoy the Jacuzzi. You will get splashed by the screaming kids. The kids will splash you at the pool bar, they will splash across the entire pool area. You will have to deal with screaming kids even at the piano bar late at night. Thus, make sure you are NOT at the resort during the weekend. Get away on the one-day tour to Panama City or nearby village. During the weak days, the resort becomes nice and quiet, the staff is very friendly though almost none of them speaks English. The beach is nice, the chairs are there, the alcohol keeps coming. The weather is great and there is an opportunity to relax and enjoy the vacation. If you rent a car, there are things to do outside the hotel, everything is safe and welcoming. The water sports are available, rent a jet sky and enjoy the scenery from the ocean side, which is gorgeous The bottom line is – it is a 2-star resort for the local working class with friendly and accommodating staff that doesn’t speak English. If you account for this factor, you WILL enjoy the resort

All inclusive if you can stand what they offer: Nice beach, bad food, mixed rooms

I read the negative reviews before we booked here, but it was in the right location for our drive from Boquete to Panama City. Room: When we arrived, after 7 hours of driving, we were put in the king ocean view we had requested, but it was a connecting room, smelled like paint and had a broken filthy light fixture on the terrace. When I mentioned my SPG membership to the man at the front desk, he told me my membership didn't apply because I had not booked on the Starwood site. He basically said that we got a poor room because we booked through a discount online travel agency. Hey Sheraton, don't accept those reservations if you are going to treat those clients as second class citizens! And we had to pay the rack rate for our second night, because our departure was delayed a day due to Hurricane Irma. So we weren't really cut-rate customers at all. The place was definitely overpriced for what we got. I am always prepared to fight for a decent room around the world, but particularly in Latin America. I hate having to fight for what I paid for, especially after hours of travel, but it's better than settling for the worst room in the house. After being told there were no non-connecting rooms unless we wanted to pay an extra $100 per night, a different hotel representative found a non-connecting king ocean view room for us.We ended up in a better room with a lovely view of the ocean from a front window and a side deck. The bed was comfortable and the room was quiet. There were no lamps and no hangers, which makes me think the room was newly remodeled, but I called and we got one lamp and ten hangers. It did not smell like paint, fortunately. The bathtub is plastic, and the area around it is in need of repair. The employee who showed us to our room was kind and helpful. The security man who worked to unlock the locked safe was also kind and helpful. We enjoyed our room, though elevator service was slow, and we were on the 6th floor. Food and drink: The less said about the food and drinks at this Sheraton, the better. The buffet was usually the only choice, and the food was bad. If you are a pasta all the time person you may do okay. And the salad bar was okay.At lunch you have a choice of hot dogs and french fries, disgusting "nachos" or the buffet. A man told me I could not be in the buffet in my swimming suit and towel after I had eaten most of my lunch. Why not have a sign by the door, or even better allow people in swim suits into the only eating place available at lunch time? We ate at the Japanese restaurant, and the food was okay--at least it was fresh made. The drinks are the cheapest and weakest possible. Pool: The pool looked nice, but it remained crowded and I was put off by naked babies and other children of diaper age being allowed in it. After a while I wondered what percentage of the water might be urine. The saving grace of this resort is the beautiful beach on which it is situated. It is a long beach, great for walking.

One person charged for two rooms!

I am one person. However after complaining about the noise I was put into a suite. This was not a kind move as I was also charged an additional $400 a day for that! It was bare-bones and easily considered one star. I immediately requested to go back to my previously noisy room. However upon my return to Canada , (I won't even bother to go into the complete hellish stay!!) I found I was charged for both rooms which was an additional $400 a day on top of my room charge I was unable to have it removed from my credit card. Although I disputed it with my credit card company the Sheridan Bijao beach resort would not back down and I therefore was stuck and have had to pay for two rooms one being a suite! That I didn't end up even staying in. The logic was lost on the credit card company that I was one person and could not possibly be staying in two rooms. "Unfortunately the Sheridan Bijao beach resort can respond to this post any way they like." They can say that I can contact them, they can say that mistakes were made, they can say that they would like to rectify things, it is all lies!!!!!! The bottom line is they have done nothing and "I am unable to respond on this site after they added their 2 lying cents". Most resorts would bump you into a better room without an additional charge. Not this place!! Here they move you into a suite that looks like something out of Little House on the Prairie, charge you an additional $400 a day for it and continue to charge you for your original room!!! I don't care if they respond to this or not as I have yet to receive my money back and I am out over $3000 and had a terrible stay with horribly rude and unhelpful staff at an only so-so, most of closed down, more than half empty, hotel. If you want to increase your capacity of guests and income this is not the way to do it! Horrible horrible horrible. Complete disaster of a hotel in every way shape and form!!!!
