I stayed at this hotel with my huband and 3 year old child for two nigts in July. We live in Panama City and have been to various hotels in Playa Blanca, but never to the Sheraton. We were very much looking forward to our stay, having heard good things about the place, what a dreadful dissapointment from the get go. Firstly, the hotel was unbelievably busy, looks like many people took advantage of special offers made for the lowseason. We waited for an hour or so to check in, only 2 people at reception. I was told at reception that the a la carte restaurants were fully booked so we only had the option of the buffet. After kicking up a fuss we were granted a table at the mediteranean restaurant..nothing special, cheap wine, but at least we were served. Mor than Ican say for the place, no service at breakfast, had to get our own water, coffees, child seats. The pool bar was overcrowded, one man serving, 2 hours to get 2 drinks, literally. Pool closed at 6.30pm, lifeguards ushering people out, bar closed too, had to go the main lobby to get drinks. I had booked a 'grand deluxe' room, it was bog standard, 2 towels, 1 shampoo, 1 shower gel, 1 conditioner. Coffee maker but no coffee, tea, nothing. Not particulary clean, no decor, all i can say positive about the place was that the bed was moderately comfortable, and did sleep in spite of all the noise and partying going on outside. Just as well my child will sleep next to a rocket being launched.. All inclusive? Not a chance in hell, so dissapointed. Short on staff and attention, no smiles, no frills. Went to check out and Iwas told I had to reutrn to my room and collect the beach towels I had been given as theywouldnt check me out otherwise. So that just about sums up this place. If you're a young adult, and dont care about cheap booze, and having a little comfort, have at it, thats about all this place is good for. Worst purchase ive ever made.

We received excellent service during our stay from Irene. Irene gave us the best SPG customer service we've received in any of our many SPG stays during our current trip. The rest of the staff, from the cleaning staff to the food service staff was also excellent. As noted in some of the other reviews, the food quality was fine, but could be improved. The gym and the executive club were also great.
Didn't it was an all inclusive resort

We only spent one night here as part of a sightseeing tour of Panama. It is obviously very popular with Panamanian and Colombian families as it was packed to the rafters. We arrived late afternoon and discovered that the 3 onsite fine dining restaurants were fully booked and that left us with the buffet restaurant as the only dining option. Due to the hotel being so full even getting a table in the buffet restaurant was difficult and getting near the food buffets was just as challenging. Breakfast the next morning was just as challenging due to the sheer volume of people they were trying to serve. On the positive side, our room was comfortable and away from the pool side of the resort where all the noise seemed to be. Pool and gardens are nice and the free wifi was also appreciated. I would return and spend a few days here but not when it's busy.

My husband and I stayed at the Sheraton Bijao from June 21 to 27. To me, the most memorable moments were those times when I interacted with the staff. They were just wonderful. So wonderful that I have to name those that stood out: Heidi, the server whose brilliant smile never faded as she rushed about the dining room attending to my husband and I; Lenny, the hotel worker who was there for us from the day we arrived to the day we left; and the beautiful Yannimar, whose presence served as a comforting guard she stood ever so vigilant over the property and its guests and still took time to patiently listen to my incessant chattering. And thank you to Alfredo, who took the time to speak to us as we were leaving and who translated my faltering Spanish to the staff for I really wanted them to know how much I appreciated them. Yes, I will definitely come back here one day. It was worth every day and every penny I spent in this beautiful location. Equally wonderful in service were the staff members that manned the front desk. And lastly, the young woman that provided the beach towels at the poolside had quite possibly the brightest smile of them all. I thoroughly enjoyed interacting with her. I give the Sheraton Bijao Beach Resort a 5-star grade on the staff alone.
Please extend my gratitude to the aforementioned staff. Thank you!
Expected way more

I booked this resort with high hopes as it is a Sheraton. I arrived after about a two hour drive from Panama City. I was held up at the gate as the security guard could not find my name on the list or my reservation. I knew it existed because I had confirmed via telephone the Friday before my arrival. I was traveling with two 22 year olds. After about fifteen minutes of banter our driver finally convinced the security guard to let us drive down to the hotel. It was hot and the extended wait at the security gate predicted what was to come. Check in was ho hum nothing special, no welcome drink or acknowledgement. My reservation was not in order as they had me checking out a day early That's not what my receipt said or what the SPG line had confirmed to me when I called to add my number. Since I had booked on a discount web site I was advised that my record would not reflect my SPG status. I could live with that but being a Sheraton I had an expectation of a service level . The three of us went to our room. I was told that I was upgraded due to my status so I thanked them. On arriving I discovered that there were only three towels in the bathroom. One shampoo, no conditioner and one bar of soap. No hand towels, no facecloths. No hair dryer or telephone in the bathroom. The room description on the Sheraton's website says that the room was to have all of that and that it also came with a CD player/radio/alarm clock. That was missing too. So was the bottled water and coffee for the coffee maker. I called guest services to get more towels but forgot to ask for face clothes. When I came back to my room later in the evening one towel had been delivered, The house keeping was hap hazard. One day I got bottled water, next day I didn't, Same with the coffee and the towels. On the third day I went to the front desk and placed my request for towels. The two al la carte restaurants were disappointing. The menu in the Mediterranean restaurant is bland and unimaginative. I ordered meat and that's what I got. A plate with two pieces of meat on it and nothing else. The decor was oppressive and we ate fast so we could leave. We ended up eating at the buffet that same night. The Japanese restaurant was a bigger let down. A cheap imitation of a famous chain. It should have said Japanese style cooking, the menu was not Japanese. Breakfast was always a disappointment. The tables were poorly bussed and it was difficult to find clean seating. Once seated I had to get up again to go get my coffee as there was no table service for refreshments. Twice birds landed on my plate and I ended up throwing away my meal. They put out sliced cheese every morning and at lunch. It sweat so bad that it looked unappetizing. One day somebody cubed the cheese rather than slicing it and that tasted pretty good. The food generally was uninspired and unappealing. The website says they have room service but there are no menus in the room or any kind of literature in the room so who knows if they do or not.The website also encourages you to explore, that would have been okay but there is virtually no transportation. We went out to a local restaurant one night . It was about 5 minutes away, the round trip cab fare was 30.00USD . We were lucky apparently. Initially when I went to the front desk to inquire about a cab or shuttle I was met with the response that I may not get one as it is very difficult to get cabs to come to the hotel. If cabs are difficult then why doesn't the hotel have a shuttle? I was really disappointed with my stay. There were two highs, like any hotel some of the staff shone. It was my daughter's birthday and the hotel did deliver a bottle of champagne. I won't go back to this hotel. it's not worth the two hour drive.
