Beautiful resort
LEANNE H.

The resort is beautiful and the service was excellent. While the buffet was consistently only fair, the restaurant meals were excellent! Plan ahead and make reservations for the restaurants, it's worth it! We had a wonderful stay, but the last night was quite noisy- there appeared to be a lot of locals there and the partying went on all night. Other than that the resort was quiet and relaxing. It is about a 2 hour drive to the airport and any tours that you would want to do. It was worth it though to be on the beach!!!

I have traveled Around the world and this resort was one of the best! The staff was attentive and friendly.. The managers made sure everything was personal and perfect. The rooms and the food were excellent . Never had such attention to detail and personal detail. Highly recommend this resort.

Very nice resort. Depending upon traffic volume from airport it is a 2-3 hours commute to the resort. The buildings are very old, but the staff works very hard to keep everything shinning.

This is our fourth trip with Apple. There was no Apple representative on site at our hotel and information about optional tours, excursions, activities, etc. was limited. We did not have an introductory session upon arrival as we had on other Apple trips.

We were changed an additional fee to get a balcony room at check in. The pool bar had small children, driving, rude, unsupervised.

Very nice hotel, wonderful staff! The only comment is make sure you know your Spanish, it is very hard to find anyone that speaks english. I'm thankful that my husband speaks Spanish otherwise communications would have been very difficult.

Nice Hotel

We booked the hotel knowing little about it - the rooms were basic but nice. As with many Central American hotels everything is tiled - no carpet - so as expected you can hear the next room but thankfully the hotel wasn't very full when we were there. The staff was excellent and food was great. We were very happy overall with the hotel and the service. Best brush up on some Spanish as not all the staff could speak English - and ask questions about nightly entertainment as it was a mystery to us what they had in store for us each night we were there. If you are taking an excursion - be sure to see the old part of the city either coming from or on the way to the airport. It is going through a major transformation. Overall we would recommend this resort.

Quiet but clean and beautiful resort

We stayed five nights at the Sheraton Bijao Beach Resort. We didnt realize it was rainy season when we went (Sept), so it was overcast 40% of the time. The resort is about 2 hours from the airport and Panama City, so if you want to do any excursions be prepared for a long car trip. Overall the resort itself was very beautiful and sits right on the beach front. It was quiet while we were there (we were there Mon-Sat so not too many local weekenders were there) so there were always chairs at the pool and reservation spots for dinner. There were quite a number of kids at the "adult" pool so sometime it was a wait to get a spot at the swim up bar. The food was typical resort type food, but it was a little better of a selection and all of the restaurant entrees and appetizers were good (we especially like the Hibichi!!) The rooms were clean but modest with no real ammenities other than bottled water - no liquor or beer in the fridge. Overall it was a relaxing vacation and a beautiful country with lovely people.

Fun weekend!

Had a great weekend stay at the Sheraton Bijao. What a difference from my stay a year ago. My room was impeccable and the bed was a dream. Great mix of guests as well. I felt as if we had embarked on a luxury cruise. But this cruise besides the excellent food options and bars, we played Golf. The new gift shop is really nice. Everyone in the hotel was super friendly and always there waiting to assist. I felt very important. Will definitely come back!

Ignore all negative comments , staff excellent, no issues with language. Room perfect slept like babies , if you want quiet ask for garden view, food very tasty and great selection . Both à la carte restaurants were excellent. Pools excellent, Beach is beautiful and took walks every day. Current Was a little to rough for us as we were traveling with our parents that are both in their 70’s. Loved that it was a smoke free resort . As for birds at buffet !! Seriously this resort is all open which makes it amazing and is why we travel so far to get this ! The birds only went for the left over food on tables . The staff did their best to scare them away . Honestly did not bother us one bit . Heck no flies at buffet ! That to me is amazing ! Not one insect bite during whole week , that’s a first for me . Yes they do have some stray dogs that would hang out at snack bar and regardless of their presence , not one dog ever bothered us for food . We met a very nice lady from Toronto who comes frequently to the hotel and looks after the dogs . She had 2 females neutered and even took one home ! She explained that it took few years to get her accepted. People go and enjoy and will be glad to answer any questions. This hotel also is 15 minutes ride from airport as the others are few hours ! Beach is beautiful and took walks every day. Current Was a little to rough for us as we were traveling with our parents that are both in their 70’s. I will be traveling their again for sure .

We reached the hotel around 9pm on Friday, our vacation package included a kids free graden view room. The room we got overlooked a parking lot, we asked to be moved but we were told that because there was a wedding being held at the resort, most rooms were booked and we could move on Sunday. Saturday morning we asked to speak to the hotel Manager, Alicia - she not only upgraded our room to Ocean view but gave us a suite! Alicia was very pleasant and extremely helpful, she accompanied us to the room to see if we liked it. Our flight was scheduled for 7:50pm, pick to airport was at 5, we asked Alicia if we could get our checkout extended from 12:00, she extended it to 5pm..which was very helpful!!! specially with kids we did not need to wait for hours in the lobby. Our suite was very nice and clean, the hotel itself is well-kept..staff are amazingly helpful!!! food was mediocre...plenty though..you could find different restaurants through out the day that would freshly cooked food. There are plenty of pools and plenty of chairs around ...because of the wedding on the weekend the resort was full after the wedding the resort was not as crowded. The entertainment most every night was pretty good...although mostly in spanish, they didn't make us feel outsiders and would translate once in a while. Jose Luis, Patricia, Joel and Shernier put up a good show at night, Jose was very funny and a good entertainer. All in our vacation exceeded our expectations, specially with all the negative reviews here on Tripadvisor....this isn't a high end hotel..but is really good for the amount they charge.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE; VERY LOUD AND UNSANITARY
Antonio N,
Sat Mar 31 15:34:36 EDT 2018
NOISE LEVEL: Had a suite in the 44 building, 3rd floor. There was an outdoor wedding the first night; music was extremely loud until 3 a.m. The walls are paper-thin; we could hear the music as if we were sitting next to the band. The remaining of the stay, there was loud, party music from 9:00 am to 10:00 pm all day, non-stop. Extremely disturbing and annoying! Even when there was no one around the pool, the music was playing. There are hungry, homeless dogs around the pool. It is heartbreaking to see these animals. SANITARY CONCERNS: The facility has a huge sanitary problem as well. There are hundreds of black crows freely flying into the dining room and picking food from the trays as the guests' plates. This is of great concern as they carry many illnesses. Both my husband and I got sick after the first day. ROOM SERVICE: After we were moved to a move quiet room (3600 building), the door slamming never stopped. The new room did not have a hair dryer. Had to wait two days and go to the front desk before we were actually given one. THIS PLACE NEEDS TO BE SHUT DOWN BY THE HEALTH DEPARTMENT!
