Pretty great for a conference

We stayed a week at Sheraton Bijao. It is in a lovely setting with wonderful views. It is quite far from the Tacumen airport so be sure to plan transportation to the hotel ahead of time. Nexus Tours offers shared shuttles for $50, which is a deal compared to taxi rates. I found them via Expedia. Sheraton food is good and plentiful. It's wonderful to have the all-inclusive plan which keeps you from ever having to carry money. Pools are beautiful and clean, but close at 6pm which is a shame for those of us who attended the conference and easily missed out on utilizing the evening hours for pool time. Hot tubs were not hot, just bubbly and also not open at night. They had some good entertainment and the service staff was both kind and attentive. More>

Not worth the $$$

This is the final destination of our 3 week trip around Panama. I kind of wish we could have skipped it. The location is beautiful, being set among the green golf course and well kept grounds, with lots of beach as far as you can see in both directions. However, the pleasantries stop there. The food is barely edible. And if it tastes good, it is usually room temperature or even cold. The desserts have the consistency of a rubber ball. And there is no ice cream! Wouldn't that be the easiest dessert in the world to supply? The rooms do appear to be bug free, which is nice. However, there are stains everywhere! The sheets, pillows, and towels all had dirt, makeup, or unknown stains. Gross! The shower ceiling had dark circles which might have been mold. I am not sure. There is no mini bar to speak of. The mini fridge barely cools and the individual coffee maker doesn't have a plug, unless you want to put it on the floor or in the bathroom. Also, as far as I could see there wasn't much entertainment to speak of. I saw water aerobics, morning yoga, and a small group playing croquet. The music played by the dj at the pool was enjoyable, but that is about the extent of it. Oh and the doors to the room are impossible to close if you are trying not to disturb others. You have to use a lot of force and they make a loud bang when shutting completely. Save your money, in my opinion it isn't worth the price. More>

I had a good time

After a long drive from Panama City I arrived at the Sheraton. Check in was quick and painless. I was given a room with a spectacular view overlooking the pool and beach. The room had a king sized bed and a huge bathroom with a glass wall providing the aforementioned view. I ate lunch and breakfast at the buffet style restaurant, Tabogat. Diners were at the theme restaurants, Los Olivos and Sakura. Los Olivos is a Mediterranean styled restaurant were I ate twice. They had good food and service. Sakura is a Japanese style hibachi restaurant that is indistinguishable from any other. The Sheraton had a different show each evening at 9:00 pm. The shows are out in the open so if you're room faces that direction you will hear everything. They had a disco that opens at 11:00 pm. Good music and the drinks are much stronger here than at the other bars on the resort. I couldn't understand the mixed reviews I read because my wife and I had such a good time. I think I've discovered why. Most all-inclusive resorts that I've been to are geared towards North Americans and Europeans. This one targeted South Americans. It is were they go on vacation. There were only a hand full of tourist from the State and Europe. This may be disconcerting to tourist who only want to pretend to experience a culture or country. However, for everyone else this makes for a authentic experience. The food has not been made bland to appease the North American palate. I had a great time. I got to see tourist from many Central and South American countries in their environment. I recommend this resort to anyone. More>

Quick Trip with a 5 Year Old

We just spent 2 nights at the resort. We got a junior suite on the ground level, with direct access to the beach. We were greated by Yolanda, at the front desk, who was very polite and efficient to get us accomodated as we arrived a bit late. The room: very clean, had a safe, a mini fridge, and a coffee maker. Bedding was ok, except for the pillows. They were quite flat. If you like firmer pillows bring your own, or request some extra. We had 2 pillows on top of each other, and still they were too thin. As for the food, you won't go hungry for sure: they serve meals 3 times a day, plus a pool restaurant had some burgers, rice, salad, fruits. The parties are a bit loud at night, so you may want to request a room away from the disco. Our kid used their Kids' Club last time, this time - no though. But the area is big enough and well stocked. Overall, our experience was quite positive, and if you are a SPG member, you get extra hour for your check out, and you may be upgraded to a suite. We were very happy to get those perks. Ah, and did I forget to mention that the drinks in the bar (some Corona beer, and sodas were free? I guess I would recommend to stay no more than 3-4 days here, as the grounds not that big, but you have lots of beach in front to enjoy, and enough swimming pools. We tried the Olivos restaurant, the food was good, especially their salad bar, we liked their orange cake for dessert quite a lot. You'd better call nd try to make a reservation ahead of your arrival. We were lucky to get a reservation during a check in. There is another restaurant on site, although we did not try that one. I would recommend to bring your own bottled water, especially if you are out of country. It is a very relaxing resort, with very polite staff that tried to keep their guests comfortable and entertained. We would definitely recommend it for a quick trip to the beach. More>

Stayed for 4 days and would rate this resort a 3 out of 5. It is right on the beach so that is a plus for nice long walks and calm clean water. It has a water slide and one main pool with a swim up bar. The entertainment staff is good and does what they can to keep you entertained around the pool during the day. There are 2 main restaurants and a main buffet. I recommend making reservations at one of the 2 main restaurants, Sakura and Olivos as the food is of a higher standard than the buffet, which was average at best. The food they offer around the pool is not edible. In the piano bar at night, the piano player we saw was fantastic! Overall not a bad place but you get what you pay for at this all inclusive. More>
