The drinks while at Silversands were just "ok". The alcohol and mixes were either watered down or tasted awful. We haven't experienced this before when we stayed there, but it was a different problem this time. I overheard others at the bar commenting about the same things. Property and staff were great no complaints about that!

Secrets Silversands Spectacular Service
MICHAEL N.
Oct 23 2017
What a spectacular vacation, a very beautiful resort with nice quite pool areas and great service around the pool. The preferred club pool area lacked shade, but all was great in all 8 of the pools and hot tub. The inside preferred area was very comfortable, we had great service from Jerica the concierge and Alex at the bar. For Dinning we had excellent service at the Oceana restaurant for lunch with our waiter Francisco who went out of his way to accommodate our parties every need in making it a special lunch. At dinner time we had a fabulous experience with Mario at the Oceana restaurant. The other restaurants the service was very attentive. All were a delight to talk with and always asking if you need anything else. This would be a vacation spot and resort to revisit and plan a second stay. This is a 10 in the Mexican Cancun Riviera area.

oversized suites, 8 pools, excellent food & service, a la carte restaurants every night. they had a Mexican Fiesta outdoor one evening - it was like a street fair - tons of food, music, crafts sold, decorations. property is absolutely gorgeous in/out. a little pushy to visit Breathless (sister resort) we know it was for time sharing. loved it being adult only. perfect size. 24/7 coffee shop. only complaint - they should NOT charge to use wet area of Spa when advertised as all inclusive, unlimited luxury ! one of our new favorite places.

This place is awesome! Constant drink service at the pool starting at 10:00. Someone was by at least every 20 minutes - you will not go thirsty and they make sure you get your money's worth. The dining options were phenomenal. The buffet is adequate with exception of the stations where they make you omlets, tacos, etc fresh which are superb! The restaraunt options are broad, varied, and quality. We were upgraded from a Junior Suite, ocean front, swim out to the Honeymoon Suite that was ocean front and swim out. The room was incredible! I knew ahead of booking that the beach was "natural." It is not the crystal blue water of Cancun - there is seaweed, rocks, and a funky sea smell sometimes. Since I am not a beach person I was absolutely okay with the natural beach. I put my feet in the ocean, walked the beach at sunset and sunrise, but that was it. My happy butt stayed in the 40,000 square feet of pristine pools. I cannot wait to go back! Karen runs drinks at the large pool that is ocean front - she is kind, attentive, and wonderful!

Good Stay, Not so Good Service on Excursion
THOMAS M.
Sep 15 2017
My wife and I booked an excursion with our group o. Sunday afternoon for Monday morning. My wife is a type 1 diabetic, and Sunday morning her sugar bottomed out. As such, we couldn't make the Excursion. I attempted to contact Amstar at 6am for the 7:30 Excursion, but no one was available. At check out, I went to see if it was possible to pay the cancellation fee of 50% as we didn't go or use the service. I was told that we needed medical documentation of an emergency for any such refund. I found the assistance there to be lacking, as was the manner in which we were told that there's nothing to do. I think it'd be wise to establish some kind of situation for early morning excursions where can't legitimately cancel 4-8 hrs ahead of time. Also, the temporary authorization to reserve our place is still not mcredit card account from 9/10/17.

My husband and I stayed for our Honeymoon at the Silversands for 7 nights. We had an amazing time and the service was absolutely incredible. The staff was wonderful and was always so excited to assist with activities and really made the vacation one to remember. Our Apple representative Daniel was top notch and we really enjoyed working with him. I would recommend this resort to anyone who is looking to get away and really be able to relax and enjoy good service!!!

apple vacations ruined first wedding anniversary
CHRISTINA M.
Aug 22 2017
upon arrival, we had to wait an hour after check in for someone to try and convince us to go to a time share presentation. once we got to the hotel room, the bell boy didn't show me how to make electricity work. i wanted to call someone to show me but there was no directory in our room. i eventually figured it out, but the ceiling fan and attached light did not work. i had to figure out how to unlock the sliding door onto the balcony since the lock is hidden. when the bell boy tried to open the curtains they got stuck, and he said thats ok, and didn't try to fix it. platform bed not centered in between 2 floating night stands, pushed off the mattress to get up in the morning and my hand got stuck causing a bruise. every surface in the room had a thin grimy film on it, bed sheets felt wet the whole time. once all these issue were reported to management we had people constantly calling us and showing up to our room at different times, so we had to remain in our room for a whole day while it was sorted out instead of enjoying our vacation. bad communication from management to staff. i was in a hotel for 2 days while all this was being fixed. housekeeping would not let me in the room to get a bathing suit so i had to set a timer to go back. many aspects of the architecture and workmanship of the resort and our room were very, very poor quality. for a resort that boasts luxury around every corner, it looks like an inexperienced person put everything together. tv was crooked on the wall and all channels were staticy, had to make multiple phone calls to fix it. parts of the ceiling had the early stages of mold beginning to appear. i had to fix the toilet since it kept running and i was sick of fucking maintenance not fixing anything so i did it myself. chipped paint everywhere. this was the most disgusting hotel I've ever been to and i am a person who opts to sleep in motel 6 or camp on the fucking ground, I've never been so grossed out by an accommodation in my life. this trip was a gift for my first wedding anniversary that was purchased with points from a credit card used to pay for my wedding. i had to spend an extra $500 to leave early since no one could move me into a new hotel and now my marriage is on the verge of falling apart because of this shitty trip, the lack of help we received to rectify the situation, and not being able to get my money back. fuck you apple vacations, thank you for ruining my marriage.

Put on a robe in room provided by resort and a scorpion crawled out of my robe, terrifying me!! The day before, after only several drinks I don't remember what happened. However, I passed out vomiting and lost complete control over my body functions and was not able to even speak what I hat was happening and unable to feel anything. It is believed the scorpion in the room stung me, most likely during this time, and by the following evening I needed medical treatment for the sting as it became swollen, painful, and began to ooze. Medications had to be delivered to be directly by a pharmacy and all is documented by the resort. There were also hundreds of bugs in the walkway outside of our room that were fumigated and they were found in our room closet as well and we have pictures to show this documentation. The beach was terrible and smelled terrible, full of seaweed and was really just inaccessible.

If you are looking for a classy hotel with an international jet set crowd, this hotel does not offer that. You would go to the rosewood hotel or tulum for that. However, it does offer the typical 5 star all inclusive service. The staff are all amazing and helpful, the food is generally good. The beach is sandy ( although the sea front is rocky), and the rooms are huge and clean. The drinks are made well enough. Being all inclusive it is not viable for a hotel to offer premium liquors/alcohol in general as they would suffer a loss if they had belvedere vodka or dom perignon on tap. However, the quality is still good enough and for the price, it is better than other hotels offering an all inclusive deal. Would recommend. As a side note, the crowd at this hotel can be rowdy and noisy being an adults hotel only. If you prefer a more relaxed environment this may not be for you.

We were there for our honeymoon, it was a very relaxing place to be. The entertainment staff was amazing and made sure that there was fun activities to do throughout the day. All of the restaurants were wonderful the staff was great. All of the food was amazing from all of the restaurants. Pools were great and it was nice to have the main pool but the side pools were nice for quiet days.

We had a Preferred Club Junior Suite with an ocean view and it was awesome. Dylan, Renaan, Erik (restaurant manager), Anna, Charlie were all great. There are too many staff members to recognize them all. They made our trip great. The coolest thing was that they all helped with everything. Recommended local spots and the least expensive way to enjoy things off the resort. They treated my wife like a queen as we were there for her birthday. The drinks were top shelf and even had domestic beer if we wanted it. The mini bar stayed stocked and the private dinners were amazingly romantic with some items prepared right in front of us by Erik. It was fun when we wanted and relaxing when we wanted to get away. Everything I hoped it would be when I booked the trip.

Fantastic resort, beach falls short

Stayed for 10 days October 30th - November 9th. We were in building 4, room 4117 which is a swim up suite. Room was nice but for sure starting to show its age, one sink took forever to drain, rain showerhead did not work, toilet wouldn't stop running and TV stand so worn out the TV pointed at a downward angle. Those are our only complaints with the resort itself.and by no means did those few minor room issues ruin our vacation. The staff here are amazing, they will take care of whatever you desire, you want for nothing here. Our swim up was just off the main pool by the Barefoot Grill so it was a busy area. When the chefs fire up the BBQ,s for lunch it gets pretty Smokey in front of building 4 and they BBQ for hours!!! Not the building you want if you are looking for peace and quiet, but a great people watching spot. Restaraunts amazing, food is top notch. Breakfast hostess Mar and waiter Juan "Valdez" ( as he calls himself) don't disappoint at breakfast, remembering your name and what you take in your coffee!! No matter where we ate or had drinks all the wait staff were amazing and friendly. Resort is a little remote $70 US will get you by cab to Playa del Carmen with the driver waiting for you for 3 hours, Best Day Tours in the hotel lobby has a shuttle for $9 US but they require at least 5 or 6 people before the shuttle will operate. Not the resort for you if you need a great beach. Without risking injury to yourself you cannot walk the beach past the resort Property going towards Playa del Carmen. The beach disappears right there at the edge of the property, maybe doable at low tide but not worth the risk. Going towards Cancun you can walk until you get to the Breathless resort, but to go any farther you have to walk through a nudist beach, Can be a little uncomfortable as not all of them are just suntanning!! Insert your imagination here!! The beach has a lot of seaweed, but it is picked up each morning, but you still have to wade through it to get to clear water to swim or snorkel. I recommend this resort if you just want to chill by the pool and dont care about the beach. Stuff going on all day and evening to keep you occupied.

We are seasoned Mexico travelers for the past 25 years, and have stayed all over in various 4-5 star hotels. We had high hopes for this Secrets, but it was just okay. If you have ever stayed at Secrets the Vine, you will be really disappointed, as we were. I️ have outlined our opinions below: Check-In/Concierge - We stayed in two Preferred Club rooms and had private check-in at the Lounge. It was fast, and we were given the exact rooms we expected, but they mixed up our names on each room, and it took three requests to fix it. If you call the Concierge for any request, they will not start working on it until you show up in person at their desk. Rooms/Cleaning - The rooms are large and well-appointed. Although, the cleaning staff did not clean my room by 3:00 pm on the first day, so we had to ask the Concierge to have them do it. The cleaning staff were sweet and did a great job, once they got to it. Tip: If you are up early, just look down the main hallway, and if you see a cleaning person, ask them to clean it for you now, and they will. Restaurants/Food: The food was just okay, and the staff are very nice, but the service is VERY slow. Expect to wait 20 minutes in between courses. On our first night, my son bit into a large rock while eating his salad and almost broke a tooth. We showed it to the waiter, and that was it. The manager did not stop by, and there was no further mention of it. Tip: If you buy a bottle of wine, everything gets better. Pools - One of our rooms was a swim-out in the Preferred Club Building No. 3 in a perfect location, so we only used that pool, which flows underneath the building to the beach. The main pool was too loud and busy for us. If you plan on napping in the late afternoon, bring earplugs, because all of the activities are in the main pool or in the center of the resort, and all of the screaming and yelling carries right into your room. Entertainment - This was the hotel’s real downfall. There is no music at the outside bar for happy hour. It was completely silent compared to the daytime and late at night, which was again very loud. The shows were amateurish at best and the theatre is open-air and can get very hot. I️ do have to mention Miguel, who is part of the entertainment crew, and is such a great guy and very personable. He will take the time to sit with you and ask about your stay. We just loved him! Other Guests - This was the only time there have been consistent loud guests in hallways and in their rooms at all hours of the night. It was like spring break for adults. We never had a full night’s sleep because of them. Also, during our week, a group of “swingers” were there making spectacles of themselves in front of everyone. It was very uncomfortable to watch. Then, they took their large swinging party back to the room next to one of ours and partied until 6:00 am. We had to call security twice to ask them to keep it down. Sip, Savour & See - We took advantage of this twice and visited Breathless, which is actually a blessing. It’s not far from Silversands and only a $10.00 cab ride each way. The resort is gorgeous, and much more entertaining. The restaurants are beautiful and the food/drinks were amazing. We are so happy we were able to partake in this program. We still enjoyed our trip, but will not be returning to this hotel. If you find a really great deal, then maybe all of the negatives can be forgiven.
