This all inclusive resort was great! They upgraded us to building 27 (right on the beach) and put us on the 2ND floor to an upgrade beach view room. This upgraded us to get the Honeymoon ($975 value) free which included dinner on the beach one night, a 50 min couples massage, breakfast and champagne in bed on morning. Each building had its own concierge attendant that was located in the building so they could help us with anything that we needed. The weather was wonderful the whole week. We decided to save money and not do any excursions. The food was awesome and presented to us like a 5 star restaurant. We didn't have to wait anywhere for dinner. There was also a beach and pool grill where you could go get food and bring it back to your chairs so you didn't have to go sit somewhere. The staffing was great.

This was our second trip to Secrets Maroma Beach. We have only one complaint, and that was that the Apple representative that was assigned to confirm our departure transfers was entirely unhelpful and made us return three days later for confirmation... and that was after he finally removed his Ipo .. This was our second trip to Secrets Maroma Beach. We have only one complaint, and that was that the Apple representative that was assigned to confirm our departure transfers was entirely unhelpful and made us return three days later for confirmation... and that was after he finally removed his Ipod and addressed us directly. It was a small discrepancy regarding our flight time that could have been solved with a phone call then and there. The other gentleman working with him, Fernando, met with us the second time and said that there was never a problem; obviously the first Apple rep was not very interested in his job. Otherwise, the hotel, staff, and beach were WONDERFUL. Again! Special thanks to our concierge, Roberto,for all of his help and direction. We have already highly recommended this destination to our friends and family, and do plan to return in the future.

Tell them emphatically that your not interested with them or you'll be entrapped! your wonderful vacation will be off to a bad start!

We stayed for an anniversary trip the first week of May. -The rooms were clean. Secrets box a plus. Turndown service sporadic but you could get a Sundial planner at the front desk the next day. I... More>

We stayed for an anniversary trip the first week of May. -The rooms were clean. Secrets box a plus. Turndown service sporadic but you could get a Sundial planner at the front desk the next day. I would like to see some type of adjustable divider by the tub. -The grounds. Clean but I would like to see improvement in the landscaping. Off the main path there were areas with just dirt and others areas full of weeds. The swim up rooms did not have much privacy form the walkways. -A la cart restaurants. Food was all good but somewhat inconsistent if you order the same thing on different days. We went every evening about 6:30 and never had to wait for a table. Plan on at least 1.5 hours per dining experience due to time between courses. If you want a more casual experience that allows shorts you can eat at Seaside or Oceana for dinner but quality of food and service are also more casual. -World café was open for breakfast and lunch. Food was good and it never seemed crowded. Drink service was slow but you could get up and serve yourself. -Pools. If you want to spend the morning at the beach and afternoon at the pool, don?t. It is very hard to find a spot by the pool after 1:00. Overall, service at the pool was friendly but never over the top. I would like to see a better bathroom facility over by the swim-up bar/ gazebo/beach bed side. It felt like you had to walk thru the restaurant in order to use the restroom or wind your way thru the pool area to get to the other side. -The beach and water were beautiful. It had seaweed but they would dig holes and fill it with the seaweed in order to try and keep it clean. Service was friendly but very slow. It was nice being able to order food on the beach, but be warned the birds think it is nice too. Keep those plates covered and go ahead and remove or eat the fruit from your drink when you get it. As a spectator, I found it irritating how the entertainment staff would taunt during beach volleyballs games. The games we saw were staff vs guest and very one sided. - The shows at theater were good and never too crowed. The shows outside the theater were another story. The fire show and beach party were both very good but too crowded and needed more seating. -The Entertainment Staff. We had no personal inaction with them so are unable to comment. - The guests were mainly honeymooners, wedding parties and anniversaries the week we were there. Definitely a couples crowd with diverse age group. We only saw one beer drinking rowdy group on one evening. The guests were mostly American with about 20% being European. In summary ?A good resort that did not live up to the hype or price.

My husband and I (we are both 31) just returned from Secrets - we spent six nights there (5/2 - 5/8). Overall, the resort is beautiful and the highlight really is the beach/pool area. The beach itself it amazing and the way in which the pool area is setup lends itself to enjoy the views. We spent most of our time at the pool, and would head to the beach to take a dip from time to time. We were thrilled that the resort doesn't allow the "towel game." It makes it so much easier to find a seat of your choice. We did not partake in too many activities, but the entertainment staff does do everything they can to make it enjoyable for all. We took a kayak out four separate times and loved it - it was great to get out on the water a bit. We also took part in the guacamole making lessons and the tequila tasting. We also loved when all of the chefs came out (it was a Saturday) to the pool area and brought all sorts of food and other fun things to the guests. Switching over to evening entertainment, we enjoyed a few of the shows (Rock of Ages, Zumanity) and really loved relaxing in the lobby lounge and listening to the piano player or the duo singers. We had a swim up room in building 23 and it was ok. Hindsight being 20/20, we probably wouldn't get a swim up room again - we never really used it. The main pool area was so beautiful, we found no reason to be tucked away in our swim up pool. Also, our room had a musty odor to it - even lighting the incense in the room did not help. My guess is we wouldn't have had this odor if we were on a higher floor. The restuarants/food was ok - we had great service at times, and not so great service at other times. The food was ok - we enjoyed the French restaurant and the Japanese restaurant the most. We expected the food to be decent since it was an all-inclusive, and that's what it was - decent. Even with my critiques above, we were still absolutely loving this place up until our 5th night. Unfortunately, a large corporate group came in on that night and it changed everything. The entire vibe in the resort changed - it went from a lot of honeymooners and low key, classy people enjoying the resort to spring break gone bad. They were loud and obnoxious. My husband and I can chill and can definitely tolerate a party crowd, but this was different. They saw no issues with cursing (loudly) at the pool - a fight even broke out one night at the nightclub. The last straw for me came when we were trying to enjoy dinner our last night and a group of them were in the back of the restaurant - they were REALLY loud, cursing and being flat out obnoxious. Overall, it was clear this group lacked manners and proper etiquette. I understand that Secrets is running a business and it's impossible for them to distinguish who may be a good group vs a bad group, but it was a shame. My husband and I both agreed that had they come at the beginning of our stay we would have contacted our travel agent and asked her to move us to another one of their properties. So, in all, we had a great time and still cannot get over how beautiful the pool/ocean area was. We just wish we didn't have to deal with that group during our last two days.

We vacationed at Secrets Maroma on April 28th thru May 3rd. This was our second time at this beautiful resort and once again we were not dissappointed! Our service was incredible and a big shout out to the best entertainment team ever: Alberto, Miguel, Alejandro, Alfredo, Emanuel,Alex,Jay C.,Lorena and Deanna!!! If I missed anybody I apologize because they were all fantastic. Also, the servers and staff were friendly and very accommodating to our needs and the food was delicious! This year our room was on the 4th floor with an incredible view of the ocean. The only complaint was that the mini fridge was not stocked everyday. Overall, our vacation was wonderful and we hope to come back next year!

The secrets resort at moroma beach was awesome. My wife and i planned a 7 day trip to celebrate our 5 year wedding anniversary and enjoyed every minute. The food was great, we received excellent service by pedro @ himitsu. We also enjoyed the wonderful entertainment team that kept our vacation packed with excitement. Manuel and Lorena along with the entire team were excellent. I would strongly recommend the resort for any future vacation plans.

We had the privilege to visit Secrets Maroma from 4/28-5/4 and I can't say enough great things about this resort with only a very few minor complaints the hotel could improve on. I'll try to break it down into a few sections with some helpful tips (or at least I think they could be helpful). By the way, the weather was GORGEOUS throughout our entire stay! Hot without being unbearable, and not overly humid. It may be my new favorite time of year to come! The ocean was perfect temp as were the pools! This was our third trip to the area, staying previously at Valentin Imperial Maya and Excellence Riviera Cancun so we've had some experience and are able to do some comparing among various resorts. I will give a brief summary of highs/lows for all three at the end. TRANSPORTATION: The first two times we went we used Best Day Travel. They were easy to find and courteous at the airport. Two downsides with this travel was having to wait for two other couples sharing our van and having to drop them off or pick them up. Also, they want to schedule time with you the next day to listen to all the tours they offer. If you know you want to do a tour, this isn't bad. If you know you want to do nothing but relax at the resort I'd go another route. This time we reserved a private van with Cancun Shuttle. Round trip was only $85. It was great not having to wait for anyone but we decided next time we're just going to take a taxi. They have a desk in the airport right at the exit full of people who are just waiting to get a taxi for you so obtaining one would be easy and the rates are regulated at $20 each way. Also, Secrets had a holding bay of taxis at their entrance so getting a return taxi would be easy as well. Especially if you arrange through your building concierge who was always so pleasant and helpful. GROUNDS: While it is true that the exterior of the front of the resort is a little underwhelming, this all changes once you walk in. The lobby is beautiful and the lobby bar is a great place to hang out at at night. The vegetation, the fountains, the cleanliness of all the walkways and pool areas are immaculate. People hard at work to keep it looking top-notch. The resort is probably mid to larger size but laid out very nicely. It was always an easy and enjoyable walk from anywhere. We stayd in building 14, close to the main building/restaurants and thought it a great location. BEACH: It is true that you probably pay a bit of a premium for this beach. It's supposedly one of the best in the world. In my opinion, the beach at Excellence Riviera was just as nice. But nonetheless, it is indeed a beautiful beach. Every morning the men are out there cleaning up the seaweed. Over the course of the day, more does collect....but alas....it is the ocean!! It happens! And while there was some seaweed floating in the water, it was usually just closer to the shore and a few steps out you would be past it. The water was perfect and we swam in it regularly. We rented one of the private palapas with a personal butler one day and it was great! Shout out to Alejandro who was as entertaining as he was attentive! POOLS: Two great pools to choose from. The larger pool which has the swim-up bar is what I would call the "noisy" bar or the active bar. As with almost any resort containing a swim-up bar, there are going to be people who grow increasingly louder and more jovial as the day goes on. My husband and I would often hang around the pool for some great people watching and to play pool volleyball in the morning and when we tired of the nosy people, we would either switch over to the quieter infinity pool, or go back out to the beach for a quick snooze under a palapa. There are plenty of quiet spots to retreat to if the noisier pool crowd gets to you. My advice, try playing pool volleyball! it's SO MUCH FUN! The entertainment team is HILARIOUS!!! Loved Manuel, Alejandro, Alex, Miguel, Alfredo, Diana, Lorena and anyone else I missed! Those people are genuinely funny and friendly from 9 in the a.m. until 11 at night. Don't know how they do it but take advantage of the activities they offer. You won't regret it! Finally, they do have a couple of employees at the pool who are there to help you find a chair, move your chairs around and help you with your beach umbrella if you want. They are also there to make sure that people aren't reserving chairs all day and never using them, or reserving chairs at various locations when the resort is full. I think this is FANTASTIC and love their policy of not "saving" spots before 10:30. At both the other resorts we went to you practically had to get up before dawn to get a decent spot and often the best spots went unused until 3 in the afternoon when those people decided to show up again. I wish more resorts would adopt this policy. BARS/RESTAURANTS: First off, we thought all the food and drink was quite delicious and beautifully presented. The morning breakfast buffet is very vast and good. IMO, breakfast and lunch buffets are pretty standard between resorts. They're very good and there's lot of selection but you kind of see the same things on them. Not a complaint, just an observation. What I really liked about SEcrets Maroma is that they have so many lunch options! There was the large buffet in the main building, there was the a la carte sit-down lunch by the pool/beach. There was the barefoot grille by the pool offering chicken, ribs, fish, burgers, sushi, guac and salsa that you could help yourself to without even having to put a cover-up on for. There was the taco and paella carts going around the pool which were great and there was fresh fajitas being made on the beach! And if that wasn't enough, they'll bring you a menu right to the chair you're lounging and bring the food to you! The evening restaurants were all very good with good choice. Here is my only complaint (albeit minor) about this resort. When you are on a romantic or relaxing vacation with your significant other, it's actually quite enjoyable to take your time at dinner and savor the courses being brought to you. But at a couple of the restaurants the wait between the courses got entirely too long. We were at the French restaurant for almost two hours and didn't even stay for dessert! We made no complaints......we just enjoyed another glass of wine while waiting but that did get a little long. To our delight, the next day a tray of chocolate covered strawberries was delivered to our room with a phone message apologizing for our long wait the previous night and asking us to please come back and enjoy a bottle of wine on the house. We did not because we wanted to experience other restaurants but thought this a very classy touch. Also, LOVE the coco cafe. We often went there and enjoyed a delicious coffee drink for dessert most evenings. Finally, I think what sets Secrets apart is the drinks they make at their bars. They are all in pretty glasses with lovely garnishes of fresh fruit on each and every one. This is a small thing but is a classy touch. SERVICE: This place is top notch. Every employee we encountered was courteous and friendly. At the morning if you were at the pool before the bars opened the wait staff would come around with cold bottles of water for you. OUr room was always perfectly cleaned every day with a nice turn-down service every night. Loved it! Can't wait to return to this resort! I would say this was our favorite of the three with Excellence a close second. Valentin was also nice but we think the food at the other two is a little better with a sandier beach.
