Enjoyed it but not 5 Star

Traveled first week of March 2017. Weather was beautiful. Resort was huge and I was glad we stayed in the main building. The room was spacious, clean and up to date. Housekeeping did a wonderful job! Very nice robes provided for our stay. Food options were plentiful. Did not like the Japanese - hibachi was low luster and food over cooked. French and Mexican were very good although the length between courses was VERY stretched out. The Buffet restaurant was great. The coffee shop was a nice touch and open all the time. Spa was 5 STAR!!! Wonderful atmosphere and relaxing. Beautifully appointed with lots of amenities. The private pool and water therapy area is amazing. Had an incredible massage and facial. Wonderful!!! Beach is beautiful and well managed. Bar service was quick and friendly to the pool and beach areas. We only struggled to find a pool chair one day but I believe the resort was at full capacity due to 2 conventions. The entertainment was pretty good although a bit repetitive. The acrobatics were amazing but saw the same type show on two different evenings. Comedian and Mindreader were also similar. Saw a great duo in the main lobby but their time ended early ...9ish? Casino night was probably the most fun and engaging. The Mariachi band was very talented and only showed up once during the Mexican Fiesta night. We enjoyed our stay

Beautiful resort with well manicured gardens and beach. The ocean would bring in seaweed and they had it cleared every morning. The staff was always friendly and plenty. (Don't be afraid to flag one down if you want a drink, if you're like me and chose to quietly lay out a bit from the main crowd, because they won't disturb you.) The breakfast is best at the World Cafe, even if your part of the preferred club where one of the private restaurants is open to you then. All of the restaurants were great and reservations were ONLY required if you chose to sit at the Hibachi, which is a nice alternative to always having to make reservations. The brick oven pizza and walk up grill poolside were great, too! I would utilize the private lounge more next time, since I was in the preferred suites. I'm not a wine drinker, so I was never sold wine upgrades at dinner, which seemed to bother some fellow travelers. Overall, a great honeymoon.

Absolutely loved our 4 days spent at Secrets Maroma. Very clean, well-maintained resort. Our concierge, Roberto, was attentive and genuinely wanted to help. For an All Inclusive, the food was really good and had a very good variety from day-to-day. Yes, it is a little more pricy, but I would definitely pay extra to avoid the obnoxious party goers who whole heartedly take advantage of "All You can Eat and DRINK". We had only one issue with noise on our first night there, but thank goodness that group left the following day. Great ambiance, great respectful clientele. The spa was perfect!

Not so great after all!!!

First things first, don't waste your money on preferred club you only get a ridiculous small lounge and a regular a la carte restaurant for breakfast . Service and entertainment it's really mediocre with some exemptions ,of course ,at some restaurants. Too much soliciting all over the property from bottles of wines to time shares, you always feel like avoiding these people every where, as long as you are on vacation and doesn't want to feel this pressure every where you walk. The only way to get a prime location at shows or restaurants was, if you buy a bottle of wine even if you paid for preferred club 🤒. By the way the house wine 👎.The beach it's nice but a shame it's so full of see weeds and you can't enjoy it like that, this it's an issue that's been increasing over the years at Riviera and Cancun area, guess there might be an environmental problem going on because I'm talking about tons of see weed not something normal. I've been a lot in Cancun at different resorts and this one doesn't meet my expectations at all,I've stay at much better resorts in Cancun and for the price you pay was expecting way better.

"It's a pleasure!"

Every single staff member that you encounter answers with a friendly "it's a pleasure" when you thank them for the many things they do to make your stay incredible. And they genuinely mean it. WOW - last week, we stayed for 8 nights, and we could not have asked for a more memorable, perfect vacation! There was so much to do every day, or you could just relax, so many options in between. We especially enjoyed the fitness class options throughout the day. **Entertainment Staff** - these hard-working folks (working 15 hour days) absolutely made our experience. Their activities program is non-stop and high quality! Everything from yoga to pool volleyball to water aerobics to beach olympics/soccer/volleyball to trampoline to Spanish lessons to Zumba, I could go on and on. I've never laughed so hard in my life. Not to mention top-notch evening entertainment...rock show, Beatles tribute, Il Divo tribute, "Minute to Win It" game show, outdoor circus, Casino night, a comedian, a magician...you absolutely cannot get bored. Special shout-outs to David ("Mini Cooper"), both Emmanuels, Mimi, Polo, Oscar, Ana, and Carlos just to name a few. I'm sorry if I forgot someone...they were all brilliant! THANK YOU! What makes this resort awesome is that all of this is available to you within a short distance from your room. We've been to other resorts where you're walking forever or in golf carts or walking up and down hills. Not here! You can get almost anywhere in 3-5 minutes. The entire grounds and beach are kept very clean and picked up after. Never seemed that crowded. From what I understood, a few nights we were there were at 100% capacity, yet we were still able to get tables at restaurants with little wait time, comfortable beach/pool chairs (or awesome beds/cabanas, most of which you don't have to pay for), and easy access to activities and entertainment. **Accommodations** We stayed in an ocean view Junior Suite in the Preferred Club, building 26. The extra money is worth it for the upgraded amenities and access to a great club that serves food and drinks all day, has premium spirits, and an expedited check-in. Our concierge, Roberto, was really friendly and helpful with coordinating a beach cabana reservation, transportation, a couple minor room repairs and a lovely surprise for our anniversary with a door decoration and a bottle of champagne (which we enjoyed on the terrace in our bathtub). The housekeeping and minibar staff did a wonderful job throughout the day keeping the room constantly stocked with water, beverages, clean towels, etc. **Food** The food on property is superb! Rare to find at an all-inclusive. Presented thoughtfully, perfectly portioned, fresh, variety of options, and really tasty! We loved all the restaurants and special outdoor events. The habachi grill is really fun (make a reservation when you check in), and the World Cafe's breakfast was amazing, especially the juice bar (Jhenifer was awesome and the host Genesis was lovely). **Spa** Wow - make sure you go here! One of the very best spas I've ever been to. So many relaxing areas to rest and unwind, indoor and outdoor, gorgeous treatment area and the hydrotherapy (complimentary in the Preferred Club room) was a daily enjoyment. The staff was fantastic (especially Genny) and the customer service excellent. After a minor issue at the spa (massage table was a bit hard), the manager offered a complimentary service and my next visit was very special. **Service** Overall, the wait staff is extremely responsive wherever you go at the resort, but especially in the beach and pool area (especially Wilberth and Armando), and the bartenders in the pool were friendly and quick. Ivan was a great beach concierge on our last day (definitely rent one of the cabanas). We really cannot wait to come back! We loved every minute of our vacation and were so sad to leave!
