This place is a hidden Gem!. Its not the most elaborate wow factor in main lobby nor is it the most luxurious hotel I have been to. BUT.. it is a wonderful place.. definitely must get a swim out room. The preferred club lounge in small and rinky dink compared to others i have been to, but its there... and had it not been included with the swim-out, its not worth the extra bucks just to get the lounge. Worth every penny. We were in Building 1 and it was very quiet and close to main restaurants. however, its far from the main pools and beach.. We didn't care as we spent all our time basically at our own swim out pool. Room service is great and quick.. The sand is not powder and very course, however the views are amazing. The gym is adequate but not state of the art. My husband loves to work out almost every day and he made it work, The spa is pricey but is excellent. The town itself is about 15 min away and is 70 pesos one way by taxi- very quaint place with lots of shops and great little places to eat. The weather here is perfect everyday.. I will be definitely coming back here..

Second visit better than first`

This was our second trip to Secrets Huatulco, and it was better than our trip last year. We had a great room, in Building one, top level, the views were amazing. It has to be the best views from our room out any resort we have ever visited. The room itself is beautiful, immaculately clean, bed was very comfy. Loved the shower, plenty of hot water and air conditioning worked very well. The resort is well maintained and the grounds are very well kept. Just can't tell you how beautiful it is. There are many more pallapas on the beach this year, and we never had any problem getting a palapa, or a lounger around the pool without participating in the ever-occurring towel game. We did see a number of chairs reserved every day with absentee "owners". Service both poolside and on the beach was superb. Food seemed to be better this year as well. The fruit was so sweet and juicy; breakfast buffet has a lot of choices and the omelettes were amazing. We ate at all the restaurants, except the Spice. Our favourite was castaway's - just can't get enough of that view and Adelaide(?) was a great server. George, the guitar guy, at the Sky Bar was really amazing. So talented, and incredible musician - wish he played more often. We only went to one of the shows in the theatre and it was ok. This resort is on the quiet side in terms of night-time entertainment, but we are ok with that. We enjoyed having drinks at the Sugar Reef bar in the evening, the stars and moon are spectacular. It's a quiet place to enjoy chatting with other guests and the evening. Fitness facilities needs some updating/expansion - it was very crowded in the morning and kinda tough to get a work-out in. We did a couple of early morning runs on the road in either direction from the resort - safe, safe, safe! Wide sidewalks! We ran to LaBocana a couple of times to take in the sunrise - amazing. A cute/quaint little surfng village. A run in the other direction took us to a vacant beach we had entirely to ourselves! Can't beat that! We will definitely be returning next year for a third time!

Although things started off on the wrong foot with quite the mix-up for our room, the rest of our experience at this resort made up for it. *The mix-up: arrived before check-in so room understandably not ready. When told it was ready and given an electronic card key, was taken aback when we opened the door and found another couple having drinks in the room (thank goodness that's all they were doing!). Obviously a mix-up since they were given a card key to the same room. Down to the desk to clear things up. We were given a different card key to a 2nd room. Opened the door, and although there was no one present, the room was obviously occupied because there was clothing on the bed, and drinks on the counter. Upset and getting annoyed at this 2nd mix-up, returned to the desk and were finally settled in a nice room. Rooms and resort could use a little TLC (tiles missing at swim up bar in pool, water damage on ceiling over the SkyBar, other "little" things), but overall, it was a nice resort and the staff was wonderful. The restaurants have a nice variety to choose from and the meals are very tasty with extra care in presentation. It was nice not to have to reserve at any of the restaurants and we never had much of a wait, if at all most times. There were plenty of lounge chairs and given the size of the two pools, not a bad seat on the pool deck anywhere. The beach and scenery are amazing, allowing for long walks, especially if you take the trail on the left of the main beach, and walk a few meters over to a secluded beach next door. Need to give an extra special shout out to Vladmir who was very courteous and sociable, energizing the crowd and making people feel welcomed. He was also very open and honest about his experience living in the area, giving us a nice taste of this beautiful location. Took in the resorts offer to go snorkeling with Neftali as our guide. He was all smiles and excitement as he got to know each person in our group and led us in to the waters. He was very enthusiastic, diving frequently to locate and bring various specimens to the surface for all to see and touch. He really made the outing fun while making sure that everyone stayed safe. A man of many talents (and duties), Francesco was the ultimate host, entertainer and even dance instructor. He continually made us feel at home and welcomed, and never allowed for a dull moment with his witty and engaging sense of humour. Alejandra was especially attentive for morning breakfast at the Buffet restaurant, and around the pool deck, we were never without a full beverage with Margarita's quick and attentive service, equaled only by Angela's service at the SkyBar in the evenings. Our evenings were especially filled with fun, laughter and lots of dancing thanks to the wonderful talents (and wide repertoire) of George the guitar player/singer.

Great hotel set in a very picturesque bay overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Rooms are beautiful and modern with all amenities. Several really nice a la carte restaurants to choose from. Food is exceptional in the following restaurants, Castaways (which overlooks the bay providing s very lovey venue). Bordeaux, French cuisine, Oceania seafood and steak and Cin Cin which offers Italian. Can't say enough about this hotel. Staff are so polite, helpful and efficient. Definitely s place to relax and recharge the "batteries".

The Secrets Huatulco has been one of my favourite resorts to date. We upgraded to the Preferred Club Swim Up suites and did not regret it for a second. We requested to be in building 5 and it was amazing. We spent the majority of our time on our terrace or in the pool. The pool waiters would walk up to the swim up suites and take our drink orders (although not as much as I would have liked). The room itself was spacious and nice. We did have a problem with our toilet not flushing and we had to call maintenance 4 times. The last time they took the toilet off to fix it. Kinda gross but not a big deal. I thought it was funny that the maintenance guy responded to my thank you with a “it’s a pleasure” after plunging our toilet … but was it a pleasure? The food was great everywhere we went … and you can order pretty much what you want. One night I just asked for a bowl of shrimp and no problem! Room service had a great breakfast that we ordered every morning. The view of the bay was stunning. The spa was incredible! We loved the 90 minute hydrotherapy circuit and the view from the massage room was unreal. Definitely treat yourself to a spa when you are there! The beach sand is coarse but the bay is stunning! We did a day excursion with Pilo Vazquez - Huatulco Tour Guide and it was the highlight of our trip (search him on trip advisor and he also has a website) We saw so many pods of dolphins that swam along our boat, sea turtles and we caught a few jack. We also had a marlin on the line but he got away! Great day! The Japanese teppanyaki restaurant was delicious and the show was really fun. A neat experience for sure. I recommend you make a reservation for that as soon as you get there! We loved the cocoa café for amazing coffees, smoothies and pastries! YUMMY! You will not be disappointed booking this amazing resort ... we loved it.
