Perfect and Beautiful Relaxation Getaway. Amazing service!

We just returned from our wonderful vacation at SCC (Aug 9th-16th) and I would definitely go back! W stayed in Building 6, in a preferred junior swim out suite. It is considered a pool-view room but you do get a little glimpse of the ocean, too! The room was lovely and we utilized the swim out almost everyday. What was nice about the building 6 swim out besides the central location is that you get sunshine until around 6pm so it was a great spot to relax before getting ready for dinner. The housekeeping service for our room was also great. We tend to sleep-in so we requested that the room get cleaned after 11am and they did just that! They made the room look like brand new every single day and evening! We ordered room service a few times and we waited no more than 45 minutes; the food was good. Our favorite spots to spend the day were the main pool and the preferred beach. We are total vacation sloths and this resort was the most amazing place to relax and have no worries. I loved that there were always loungers available so there was no obligation to wake up early and reserve a spot. The staff also does not hesitate to move towels off loungers that people are not using. Some days it felt like we had the whole pool/beach to ourselves. It never feels crowded! So clean, too. The servers work very hard and make sure you are never without a drink in hand. We tipped the servers and bartenders often and well. Our favorite restaurants for dinner were Bordeaux, Portofino, and El Patio. The service and quality of the food at Bordeaux were impeccable. We were very impressed. The tiramisu at Portofino was delicious too; you have to order it!!! Himitsu was a fun social dinner experience and the hibachi chef keeps you entertained and engaged the whole time. Oceana and Seaside we found to be just okay for dinner, but we enjoyed them for breakfast and lunch. The views of the pool and beach from Oceana in the morning are amazing. As for preferred vs. non-preferred, we definitely didn't utilize many of the preferred perks. For example, we didn't meet our butler until the last day when he helped coordinate our airport and luggage transport. The preferred beach also didn't ask your room number in order to sit there, only if you ordered food. I don't think it would have made a huge difference in our trip if we booked non-preferred. However, we would probably book preferred again just to ensure we could be on the preferred beach and have breakfast at Oceana. My only suggestion for the resort, if any, is to have designated smoking or non-smoking areas at the pool and beach. Sometimes everything about where we were sitting was perfect, and then we'd have to move because someone's cigarette smoke was just too heavy and too close. I understand people smoke and it's in outdoor areas, but it would just be nice to have a space where we wouldn't have to worry about that. Not a big deal but just a thought. Everything else was wonderful and we would highly recommend this resort!!!!!!! Wish we were still there.

LOVED, LOVED, LOVED this place!!!! The hotel, beach, staff, food, service - it was all great! Antonio was our butler & he was awesome as well as Maycol at the Preferred bar. We had so much fun talking to him each evening. Marisol was our housekeeper and she introduced herself to us which was really nice. She did a wonderful job, our room was always clean and towels refreshed. We were there for 6 nights and ate at all of the restaurants - food was great in all of them. We have been to Maroma and I think Cap Cana is right on par with them. One of our group had a birthday during our trip and Antonio set up a cake at the restaurant we planned to eat at and decorated the room complete with chocolate covered strawberries and champagne. We were in preferred building #8 - it was very centrally located and just a short walk to any destination. We were already planning a return trip as we were riding to the airport.

Looks exactly like the pictures!

*This is an updated review so if it sounds familiar, sorry~* My husband and I visited Cap Cana 7/26-8/1 and we stayed in building 9, which is one of the Preferred building. The only reason why we decided to stay in Preferred was because this was our Honeymoon location and so we decided to spend a little extra. I booked through BookIt and my transportation through Coming2 which was what BookIt offered and it was $30 for roundtrip for 2 people. Please note, upon arriving the airport when you get out of the plane, you are boarded on a shuttle which takes like 15 minutes to board with people, and then for like a 2-3 minute ride they take you around the airplane runway into the front of airport entrance. I didn't really like it but guess they do not want people walking on the runway. In addition, after getting your bag keep your baggage ticket handy because there was a girl checking to see you grabbed the right bag. In addition, when leaving the airport, just walk straight out and before the last exit, you will see a booth with your transportation company. I made the mistake of stopping and talking to one of the girl for no apparent reason. After finding my transportation company they took me and husband to the resort which was 15 minutes away. Upon arriving, they greet you saying "Welcome home" and they greeted my husband and I by our name and knew it was for our honeymoon. We got fresh towel and champagne and were taken by a golf cart to the Preferred building check-in. During the ride the guy in the golf cart did mention the building names and what is available. We checked-in and that took 15-20 minutes. The only thing to note is that they will ask you for a credit card to have on file and they swipe a pending charge of 300 something US dollars. I did not read about this in any other reviews so was a bit worried when she asked for a credit card. The room was not ready, (we did expect this) and so she asked if we were hungry and we said no. One of the butlers decided to show us around, and he did but we like to navigate ourselves so he left us to our comfort. After coming back in thirty minutes like we were told, we were taken to our room. The same butler he gave us a tour of the room and showed us what was available. Prior to arriving, I asked them for a higher floor and they honored my request. I was in room 9308, and it was convenient since it was by the stairs. They do have elevators, but the flight of stairs is really not bad. After the butler left, he said our main butler Steve will stop by and introduce himself and we can ask him for anything we needed. The only "odd" part was how when I got off the van, they knew it was for honeymoon, but during check-in during Preferred they didn't mention anything. Our butler Steve did stop by, and he asked and my husband did say it was our honeymoon, and Steve did say he will prepare the banner for our door and we get a romantic breakfast? Let's just say during our 6 night stay, we did not get the banner or the romantic breakfast. Was this a deal breaker? No. My husband and I didn't really mind. Although, if they did take it upon themselves and remember it would have been an extra "wow." In addition, we were suppose to communicate with our butler through iMessage, but he never texted my husband. Again not a big deal, but if that is what they are "supposed" to do, then they should instead of just saying it. As far as the pool.. the pool for the Preferred club is "small." I can also understand why some of the people mentioned how it really does not matter if your Preferred or not. Out of the 3 times I sat by the Preferred pool I was only asked once for my room number. The "extra" is when you are on the Preferred side, they are quick to grab your towel and set it up for you along with the umbrella. In addition, when they bring you water it is in a nice ice bucket. You have the Rosewater restaurant which is by the Preferred pool, and you can order and they will bring you your food and you can eat by the pool. The Preferred side beach does have better chairs, but again no one is there to check to see if you are Preferred or not. They do try to distinguish by the color of the towel, orange is for Preferred and brown is for non. However, it is in a cart so again anyone can grab them. The only other perk for Preferred is that you get to eat breakfast at Oceana if you wish. That gives you a second option, as opposed to if you do not stay in Preferred, you are stuck with the buffet or room service. My husband and I did not really see our butler too much, and so would Preferred be worth it? Probably not. I told you we only did it because it was our honeymoon. The only thing I have to give our butler Steve credit for, is on the last day we ran out of sunscreen and he gave us the ones the staff use, which was fine. In addition, the day before leaving he contacted our transportation rep and made sure on what time they would pick us up. He also made sure they came on the day they were leaving and we were able to board. Again, if there is not that much of a price difference, go for Preferred, but I really do not think it is necessary. I did however, see a LOT of people every night at the Preferred building bar. The main pool is beautiful, and it is big. There are plenty of chairs from 8AM, and even until 10AM? I would say out of the 7 days, for 2-3 hours every morning, my husband and I had a section of the main pool to ourselves. The main pool is divided into 4-5 sections, and its your preference and where you want to sit, but my husband and I had no problems finding chairs and an umbrella. We did leave our stuff at 8AM and went to get breakfast at the buffet. As far as the floats go, I saw like maybe 7 in total during the time I was there and they were always taken by someone. The staff did bring you one if you asked, however I think majority of the people brought their own floaty. In addition, I saw a LOT of people with their own thermos, and there is no size requirement so bring whatever size you want and they will fill it up. The only thing to note, was I did arrive on Wednesday and from Wednesday to Friday they were inconsistent with the straws and the drink. They are trying to help save the environment and will only give you a straw if you ask. (At least that's what the sign by the bar said) However, I noticed even if I asked they were out of it, so sometimes they were not able to give it to me. (At least by the bar they were out.) The waitress do carry it, but again if you do not ask, they will not give you a straw. I did notice that after Friday I did see more straws, and so they must have stocked up in preparation for people checking-in. Preferred club had lot's of straws. But again, I did not read this in any other review, so when I heard "no straw" I was pretty surprised, so be mindful when you come that they may be low on straws for a day or so. If I had known I would have been more adamant about bringing my own thermos. The service by the pool is great and they are always walking around. The service at the beach takes a little longer because they have to make the trip but not bad. I was worried about the bathroom, but I was okay and there is a little hut and yes it is a single bathroom but not as bad as I thought it would be. The bar by the main pool, there is a bartender name Kelvin, he is funny and will make you a drink based upon your preference. Oh, I did read this in a review and YES the water from the pool does turn your bathing suit GREEN. I wore mostly light bathing suits and on all of mine and some parts of my husbands trunks I did see GREEN. I have no idea why the water from the pool does turn your bathing suit green. I did bring Oxiclean stick and rubbed my bathing suit with it everyday before air drying. Upon arriving home I did wash it and there is no more green, so the good news is the green does go away, however be warned, if you wear light bathing suit it will turn green. I only read this in one review. As far as the restaurants go... I liked it and went to all except for the hibachi and you do have to make reservations for hibachi only. The service at Bordeaux was the worst which I was surprised at since that is the "fancy" French place. It is important to note that all the restaurants except for the French Bordeaux has an outside option, which allows men to wear shorts if they wish. However if you want to sit inside the French, Japanese, and Italian you do have to wear long pants and close toe shoes. Mexican restaurant is outside, and so is Oceana and Seaside Grill so men can wear shorts. I felt the options on the menu was a little bit limited compared to Secrets Silversands. The food for dinner was okay and the best has to be Seaside Grill. My husband loved our waiter Domingo. The skirt steak at Seaside Grille is excellent... they are open for lunch, so that is a lunch option and food is pretty good. My husband and I liked Seaside Grille the most. For lunch on certain days, they have a BBQ at the beach. They had it 2 out of the 7 days we were there. One day it was lobster tail and steak so don't miss out on that!! Lunch at the buffet was pretty good. The breakfast at the buffet is okay... Food overall was good for the most part. Cap Cana is a BEAUTIFUL place and the reason why I chose it is because it was new and I wanted a newer resort. The beach is okay and I did not smell seaweed at all. I've been to Mexico, and Mexico is BADDDDD with the seaweed and the smell. At Cap Cana yes there was seaweed but my husband and I both wore water shoes and was able to walk over it and it was not a big deal. The room was great and the AC works well. Just make sure your door from the balcony is closed. On the AC unit you will see a door open icon if it is not, and the AC will not come on. I did order room service a few times and the food is pretty good. The only thing I did not like about the room was the lack of hooks for the towel like some reviews mentioned. In addition, my double shower handle fell off, but it was not a deal breaker. The water does slide out from under the door so when you get out of the shower it does get a little wet, so we did use a lot of towels. Room service, as long as you have the light on red they will not disturb you at all. The resort is beautiful, but will I return to DR or Punta Cana again? Probably not and this is not because of the resort, but because of the airport. I did not like having to board the bus to get on the plane, and etc. I am eager to visit another Secrets location.

Beautiful resort, worth every penny!

My husband and I are blessed enough to be able to enjoy an all-inclusive trip every now and then. We visited another AMresort in Mexico last year and had heard this property was slated for an opening. We were quickly drawn to this property before it even opened. Once it did and we started seeing pics of their beach and ocean front we were SOLD! We had never indulged in a "preferred" room so we thought this would be the perfect resort to invest the extra money. We booked our trip for the first week of August. Upon arriving we were in love, so gorgeous and that water! We were quickly swept away to the preferred lounge to check-in. This did not go as quickly as we had hoped but after about 30 minutes we were taken to our room by Narciso who helped move our check-in along. Gorgeous ocean view in building 8, couldn't have asked for anything better. During our stay we enjoyed meals at Bordeau, Portofino, Seaside Grill and Himitsu. Honestly we could not pick a favorite because they were all so good. My husband ordered many entrees at a time and was happy with everything. We are from Chicago and these steaks could give some chop houses a run for their money. We enjoyed the the Barefoot Grill daily for lunch or the grill on the beach which was nice to not have to leave the pool/beach to eat something. We ordered room service most late evenings and always arrived with 30 minutes. We would pre order our breakfast the evening before and that arrived on-time as well. We enjoyed the Coco Cafe daily where we were greeted by Esther who was always very pleasant. Our favorite bar was the Barracuda which was always very lively with Kalvin and Maximo keeping us all entertained. The days we spent on the beach Martha always came back to take care of us. That beach is very deep and most people don't realize how far these ladies have to walk to get our food or drinks. Make sure you take care of them! The entertainment crew was very lively and fun but Chihuahua was by far the most entertaining himself. He had us laughing in tears most afternoons when we encountered him. The nightly shows were nice to look forward to although the theater is not air conditioned and a little hot. A tip: sit on the left side of the theater all the way in the back by windows. This side gets the most air circulation. The Rock show was our favorite. With preferred came our Butler, which we had a few. Luis, Jonathan and Reymon were very helpful but I can tell you Narciso is an invaluable team member. This man bent over backwards to do whatever was needed to make the guests happy. The ocean front was one of the best we had ever visited. The water was warmer than the pools. We walked out several times at least 150 yards and was chest deep and mostly clear. The entrance to the water was a little rocky for abut 5 feet and that was it. No need for water shoes at all. Overall we loved this resort and would most certainly return again in the future. I will say that we will not be booking "Preferred" again though. I just did not feel there was a need. Unfortunately we were unable to enjoy the preferred pool but in all honesty it was not what we were looking for anyway. Way too quiet. The main pool was where the entertain and music were. Rosewater was nice but we enjoyed the Barefoot Grill and beach grill more. If you are travelling to Secrets Cap Cana for an event or occasion and need the assistance of a Butler, then I would say it's worth the upgrade.

Stayed for 6 nights 7 days in a ocean view preferred suit. The resort was AMAZING! surpassed my expectations a millions times over. Beach was gorgeous, food and drinks perfect! Service was top notch. Preferred was the way to go! Top shelf liquor, and access to preferred beach and pool. Room was large with good AC and beautiful view. Traveled with another couple and enjoyed the weather and the beautiful beach. Hotel lobby was amazing for evening drinks and life entertainment. Tried all the restaurants and food was excellent. Buffet every morning for breakfast was awesome. Fresh crepes, fruit and omelet stations, wide selection of pastries. Enjoyed lobster and steak and delicious dessert. Alcohol was flowing at every bar and at the pool. Service was excellent. Late night room service took a bit but reasonable. Delicious Dominican Coffee every morning. Beach was clean, with whited sand. Warm gorgeous Caribbean water. Enjoyed every minute of our stay. Our Buttler Danillo was so good to us. Catered to our every need. Made our trip extra special and paid close attention to our every need. Loved the the preferred bar and bar tender Mical. Made our drinks perfectly every day. Only bad thing I can possibly say is there is seaweed at the beach. But the hotel works hard to clear the each every morning. It personally didn't bother me but I heard a few people comment on it.
