Romantic Getaway, "Preferred Style!"
Kyle S, Lorain, Ohio

My wife and I are in our 30's, this was our 8th all-inclusive resort. Before we departed for our trip I read a bunch of the one and two star ratings that some "reviewers" had left. I took them all like a grain of salt and we are so glad we did!! All the staff from the grounds workers to bartenders they all do their very best to make your stay here SPECIAL!! We stayed in the Preferred Section Room 631. Outside the room was a slight "sewer" smell that some reviewers had stated, but did not bother us to a point where I would rate this place a lesser star. Some pools might have one or two missing tiles, oh gosh, what a disaster.... I would rather have the pool open when I'm there visiting then to have it closed for "repairs". Beach is rocky, so bring water shoes. You can bring your own snorkel gear or rent it free for two hours from the on site dive shop. You will see a good amount right from the beach (fish, barracudas, and lobster). Definitely would advise going snorkeling / scuba diving for an excursion from the dive shop. You will see a bunch more marine life including sea turtles and sharks! Bartenders and wait staff were amazing on the whole resort. Gohan (Sushi Restaurant) was very good keeping in mind you are in Mexico. We ate there probably three nights and every night we had Francisco as our waiter and he always did an amazing job. Sky bar is amazing especially during the sunset and night hours, staff again, amazing! Bordeaux and Oceana we also ate at and can't find a single thing to complain about. I just wish I could remember everyone's name, because I feel like they all did a fantastic job. Entertainment crew again, did a wonderful job. If you want to get off your butt and have some fun, you will with these guys! (Pooh Bear, Geo, Alejandro). As far as people complaining about items missing from their rooms.... Be smart don't bring it or lock it up. I would not leave an i-phone sitting in any hotel room at any hotel. And let's face it, it's not up to the hotel to make up for your stupidity. We had no problem with our safe or locking items up. We even forgot to lock up items once and the cleaning staff put them all together on our night stand. Stay preferred and enjoy the fact that your pool stays open an hour later (6pm)..... And remember.... TIPS for everyone are appreciated even the maintenance workers!! You will enjoy your trip, I know we did! Thanks Secrets!

Definately a cut above the other resorts!

This was a quick getaway trip for relaxation so we were only there for the weekend. I opted for the luxury package (jr suite that opens up to the beach) and it was well worth the extra $$. I did not realize prior to going that it is almost like two resorts in one, an exclusive premium side and the general side. I imagine the general side has similar amenities but I am not sure. Thus, I am speaking about the premium side. You have access to a couple of very nice restaurants that are not available to others, and all of the bars in this area serve premium liquor. The service was great from the moment we arrived until the moment we left. I have visited Cozumel at least 25 times since the late 1980s and even in the premium hotels something isn't perfect (i.e., smells, air conditioning, water temperature, the bed, towels, linens, television, thin walls, service, and food [almost everywhere I have stayed had probably at least one meal that was less than appetizing]. I experienced none of these things. Every meal was delicious, the room stayed cool, the water stayed hot and with good pressure, the walls were thick and it was quiet, the bed was very comfortable, the room smelled clean, The TV was nice and with a clear picture though we did not see much of it. The room had it's own sliding doors that opened to a patio. In front of that were two comfy beach chairs under palm trees. The beach and swim up bar were awesome. The beach had good sand, though to get in to the water deep enough, you did have to navigate carefully over submerged rocks. It wasn't an issue. Abundant sea life as soon as you enter the water. The pier was very nice and close to the reefs so its a quick trip to most dive sites when operators picked up divers. We had a romantic dinner on the pier one evening which was well, romantic. Manuel Rata was our server and what a great young man he is. He was present when he needed to be, and not when he didn't. He was engaging and friendly and had some good recommendations. He made the dinner well worth the price. When I go again I will probably do it again just because of the service. The dinner is pre-planned, as you select the time of the dinner as well as specific menu items. In the hot months, I would recommend 7:00 pm. so that it's not too hot and you can see the sunset. We chose 7:30 and almost missed it. We were happy with house wine and champagne, though the wine list is extensive. If you want to pay $3000 for a bottle, it's available. The only negative aspect (and it wasn't really for us but I could see how it might be for some) is that we chose a time when the resort had lively beach entertainment behind us with loud music. We ended up turning the romantic music we had off. It didn't detract from the experience though it could have if this were say a proposal dinner or something like that. This is an adult only resort and was not at all crowded. So if romantic get away time is what you're looking for then this is it. It's about $25 each way via taxi and about the same for a shuttle to the airport. Paulina was exceptional as a customer service representative as well. You get resort credit when you arrive, though it is not exactly as you might think. You may get $200 or $400 resort credit. This can be applied toward things (i.e., $40 toward a $160 50 minute massage for example). I believe I used mine to reduce the romantic dinner to $270 from $330 I believe. You have to sit with a customer service representative to receive your credit. The one I chose offered many things if I would listen to an informative presentation about the resort/s. I declined. If you accept, you will be asked to have lunch on the mainland. That is at least an entire afternoon. I will say that this was the least pushy sales guy I have seen doing these things and the whole process took only a few minutes. Of course part of what made the trip most exceptional was my companion. Thanks Carla!

An OK ALL INCLUSIVE RESORT

Our ocean view room was clean, and maintained while we were there. The food was fine for an all inclusive resort. Be prepared for sales pitches from the time you arrive.the island is worth the jeep rental and our snorkeling trip was nice.

We were hear for a wedding and all I can say is that the staff did an amazing job and the ceremony turned out beautifully. We stayed in the Preferred area of the resort. Our room was recently updated with amazing ocean views, cleaning and restocking the mini fridge was done daily along with turndown service. Room service was always quick and still warm when received. We did visit another room at the swim up area and it seemed quite dated (still nice) compared to our room. There were problems with the tiles popping up in the swim up pool. We really enjoyed the staff at the Manatee bar and had so much fun on the slides. HUGE THANK YOU to Mauricio, Jose and Adela for taking wonderful care of us!! Only hung out at the Preferred pool once or twice. The ocean is beautiful but you will need water shoes if you want to get in the ocean as it is very rocky. Wonderful place to stay, relax and watch beautiful sunsets.

Nice Resort. It is one of the smaller resorts, but still nice. The bed was very comfortable and the room was clean. We had good service and the room was cleaned every day. The food was good, but the selection was lacking. The service at dinner time left something to be desired. You do have access to Sunscapes resort next door which opened up a few more choices for food. The activities provided by the resort are great and the pools were o.k. The pools need some updating and cleaning. The beach was fantastic. We would definitely return to this resort, but we might try some other places first before returning.
