I traveled here with a group of girlfriends in March 2014. I have such mixed feelings about this place, but the ultimate feeling I'm left with is not a very good one. I would never return to Sandos and I would never recommend it to anyone.
We had reserved three rooms for seven people and, apparently, they had overbooked. They were extremely disorganized and ended up giving us two larger rooms (one oceanfront and one lagoon-facing) to make up for their mistake. However, on the second day we were there, the manager came and found us on the beach and made us pack up our things (right then!) and all move into the lagoon-facing room because the "mayor" was coming and they needed the oceanfront room we were in. I kid you not. That was the "urgent" reason we were given to come in off the beach and re-pack all of our stuff at that very moment. By that time, we had already made friends with the guests in the room next to the oceanfront room and they reported that they never saw anyone go into or out of that room after we left.
On the day before we left, my friend and I were again approached by management and asked to immediately pack up our stuff because we "weren't supposed to be in the large room anymore". My friend and I had booked one night longer than the rest of our friends, but had been assured at check-in that this wouldn't be a problem and we'd be able to stay in the large room until the end of our stay with no issues. Instead, we were accused of not having a reservation, forced to go up to our room to retrieve the reservation that stated this (we had made the reservations through Vacationist and luckily I had printed everything out), and then asked to pack our stuff up AGAIN to change rooms. The reason this time? Someone else had reserved the room for that night. Well, turns out they had made the same mistake with another large party as they had made with us when we checked-in (i.e were overbooked) and needed to give them the room. Which is fine and we're pretty reasonable people and would've moved to a regular room willingly had the situation been explained to us. Instead, we were accused of staying without a reservation and given some story about people having reserved it. We were each given a 30-min massage to make up for our troubles for that room switch, but shortly after receiving the massages were asked to come downstairs and sign a form that we wouldn't complain anymore. Seriously. I couldn't make this stuff up. Even writing about this exhausts me. The whole thing felt shady and we were lied to multiple times about what the real situation was. Definitely not a "luxury" experience.
Besides management and the room glitches, the rest of the staff was very nice and accommodating. We had wonderful beach service and the poolside food was great (the rest was just mediocre). Because we had a large room, we had a beachside cabana reserved for us every day, which was fabulous. The beach was gorgeous and the beach volleyball everyday was lots of fun. The standard rooms are fine, but nothing to write home about- the balconies were pretty lame. If there are no issues with overbooking, you'll probably have a fine time, but I personally will never go back.

My wife and I booked at the Sandos Luxury experience in Cancun MX 16 Nov 2014 to 21 Nov 2014, we booked with Prestige Vacations at a cost of $799. all inclusive. We did not read the fine print in the reservation, we were retired. Being,61 years old, even though we have a 6 figure income and were prepared to set through their sales presentation. That was not the problem it was that we were retired. The presentation person said they did not take retired people nor Ministers/Pastors. They also said they were profiling specific groups. We are members of RCI Gold, II Gold, SPG and travel alot. On the 3rd day of our stay we were disqualified and Sandos was going to charge us $1250 USD (Rack Rate) for the 3 days, after discussing this with the management we paid $630 USD and got the hell out of there. We called a taxi and proceeded to go to the Weston, Thank you very much, just up the road and stayed there for the remaining 3 days of our stay. This really soured us on the Sandos Brand. We called up Prestige Vacations and told them of the problem and unexpected expense, They said they would refund us a portion of the costs, but that hasn't happened. I will never use Sandos nor will I ever say anything positive about a company that profiles against, retirees, pastors or ministers.

My husband and I recently stayed at Sandos Cancun. A little post Holiday vacation and also my birthday. I decided on Sandos Cancun after reading some good reviews. I read many good reviews and they received top ratings for their pools and beach. I made the right decision. Sandos is smaller than the All-Inclusive resorts you are used to and this was a very good thing. We usually feel crowded but not at Sandos. We felt almost like we had the whole place to ourselves. Usually we have to get up early and struggle to find lounge chairs. Not at Sandos! There were no problems finding plenty of places to lounge around and relax at the pool and on the beach.
We booked a suite. More than we needed but it was a special occasion. I am so glad we did! It was amazing! Big, beautiful Master bedroom and full bath! A huge living room, dining area, and full kitchen. We had partial Ocean view. Two chairs and a table plus two lounge chairs were provided for relaxing on the balcony.
Their was another bathroom in the living room area and the suite had two plasma TV's. The King bed was so comfortable! We slept like babes.
We arrived super early at the resort. We did not expect our room to be ready and it wasn't. The room was avaible at the usual check in time of 3:00. We were prepared. We got the usual wrist band and headed to their buffet style breakfast restaurant. Then we relaxed on their gorgeous terrace by Spice restaurant which overlooks the beautiful infinity pools and the gorgeous turquoise blue Ocean!
The weather is a little inclement this time of year in Cancun but we know this and still always have a great time! At least one of their three pools is heated so you can get in no problem! The other was too cold for me. The third I didn't try.
With booking a suite you supposedly get a Cabana at pool reserved for you. We never saw our names on any but 2 of the 3 days we sent at the pool/beach we had "The best Cabana in the House"! In my opinion. We had Cabana 24 which was by the pool but look over the Ocean! It was perfect! And no annoying towels cards! Big plus in my opinion! The first day we went to the towel booth to request a couple of towels. The attendant i mediated grabbed an armful of towels and "made up our Cabana"! He laid all the towels out over the King sized bed and a corner chair that were part of the massive Cabana 24. What service!
We were treated well from the moment we pulled up to the resort. Here Erik met us and assisted us with our luggage. Since our room was not ready he also stored them for safe keeping for us. When we decided to go to the pool we needed to get back into our suitcases to get our suits. Again Erik was very helpful in carrying our luggage to the nesrbynrestrooms were we changed from airplane to pool attire. Erik was funny, friendly, and ended up assisting us on several occasions during our stay! Great first impression.
We were treated kindly, professionally, quickly, and curiously in every situation by every employee we came in contact with. There are too many incidents to name here. Here are just a few of the names are happened to catch.
Ingmar- check-in, friendly, efficient, speedy, always smiling.
There was Cold sparkling wine & a single stem red rose given to me upon check in
Yissus- as soon as we checked in and before we even had seen the resort we were approached for a time share presentation upon arrival- not welcomed :( Soliciting tours to sister properties & a tour of this resort upon check-in
Did not see this mentioned in any of the reviews I read! We hate being approached without invitation about time sharing. This was not appreciated and we curtiously declined any further discussion on the topic.
Yesus-server @ Zangos; arriving breakfast; very nice! Ended up eating at Zangos a few times. Every morning for breakfast and a couple of dinners! Amazing food! Huge selection. Never crowded. Very attentive wait staff at every expereince.
i had email Nicole the manager before our trip to Cancun mentioning my birthday. She was very quick in her response and she made arrangements for sparkling wine and cake to be delivered to,our suite. That was an extra specially nice touch on my birthday! She quickly responded to every email making sure about the day I wanted to celebrate and keeping me posted on all the arrangements. Nicole went above and beyond.
I had two Spa expereinces during my stay and I highly recommend it! Their Spa is amazing. Not very expensive either compared to our resorts we've stayed. Their Hydrotherapynis included with all service and that was so very relaxing. Steam room, shower, sauna, cold dip, jacuzzi, shower, lots of pampering, very attentive to your needs. My massage was so amazing the first day I booked another for the second day!

Estella- hosted me through the Hydroptheapy treatment. She was a awesome valet!

There were too many other wonderful people we met at the resort to name! No bad expereinces at all! We ordered room service several times. We kept getting the same guy! He was fantastic! Fast! We'd order 6 beers, he'd bring 8! We got some late night food! It was fast, hot, and delicious!
Never a shortage of delicious treats at this resort! They have a brick oven on the pool deck at their pool/Ocean side restaurant which was constantly baking! It smelt Devine our entire stay!
Every restaurant was different and amazing! The food so fresh and good. The service amazing!
While at Sandos we were already discussion a return trip! Possibly this May!

We had an amazing stay at the Sandos Cancun Luxury Resort. This was our first time staying there and we LOVED it! The staff is amazingly friendly and treated you like a friend. The Bar staff ( Hipolito, Wilberth, Jaime, and Samuel) at St Trop would see us and wave from across the pool and greet us by name! Miguel in the premium club on the sixth floor made terrific drinks and was very friendly!
We ate at the Tepanyaki (the food was amazing and the show was terrific!) also ate at the molecular cuisine and it was good, just not my style.
Joanna and Claudia the Royal Elite concierge were very nice and very helpful!
The spa experience was something like I hadn't experienced before, but did it regularly, the steam room and cold plunge pool was AWESOME!
The Bell Man (Jorge) brought our bags up to our room, was extremely friendly and helpful, 3 days later as we were leaving he called me by name! That is important to me in the fact that he cares enough to learn my name after the first meeting.
We usually stay at Sandos Playacar, but stayed here for 3 days first, it was very hard to leave... We are already planning our trip back next year! Thank you Sandos Cancun for making our stay so memorable!

We stayed five days and it was the most life changing, the spa is so beautiful and they greet you with its a pleasure always making you feel like a celebrity. I have so many amazing things to say about this place it is the absolute best Imake already planning a trip back ! 10 stars is more like it
