I absolutely loved my stay at Samba! The staff was what truly made the stay great! They were great from the minute we arrived! Everyone remembered our names and greeted us with smiles. The activity directors were enthusiastic and engaging for everyone of all ages! The bar tenders were funny friendly and hard working! Everyone was so attentive to all of our needs. There was so much space on the beach for everyone to sit and the view was wonderful. There was always food somewhere during the day! I never felt that I was lacking the opportunity wat good food and drink yummy drinks! The pool was beautiful and clean! I loved Bruno and Martin! They were so wonderful! The dancing at night was fun and I loved all the entertainment! I will definitely come back in the near future! Thank you for everything!

Salvador is the best employee I have ever met. Hotel is older but grounds are impeccable. Rooms are older but comfortable and who spends time in their room when they are on vacation other than to shower and sleep. The clientele was very grounded. Great vacation!

Meh. Very Meh.

My friend and I had 5 nights/4 days at Samba. We expected it to be in the range of 3-star resorts, but it was more like 2. Our check-in was decent, but the person working the front desk incorrectly told us information about a ton of the hotel. The rest of the service was decent. Salvador at the beach was great for remembering us and our margarita flavors. What was really unimpressive was the room quality. Lots of water stains, itchy sheets, and gross bathtub. The maid came in twice, for whatever reason, and each time, the room wasn't cleaned outside maybe sweeping the floor (though we always found piles of sand from our shoes after she left) and remaking the bed. I've been to all-inclusives in Cancun and they are so much better than Samba. No free room service, 2 beers and waters in the fridge (that wasn't always restocked), terrible food, no "extra" touches. We were glad we made plans outside the resort when we saw just how low-quality and mediocre it was.

The food was never hot and very bland. Mike (the Apple employee) didn't come to the resort daily and no one had a contact number for him. We had questions, but couldn't get answers because of this. The hotel was using some sort of sealant on the hotel doors. The fumes gave us terrible headaches. The safe in our room didn't work and the air conditioning was weak. The hallways, elevators and lobby were not air conditioned at all.

The food was always cold. Had to fight with staff and manager to get non motorized sports equipment. Some sports equipment was broken or missing pieces. Could not eat in restaurants unless booked the day before even though they were never full. Maids did not clean room until 6pm most nights.

We were treated so well at Samba Vallarta--the staff was very caring and attentive. Micsael from the front desk went above and beyond for us from the moment we arrived. Everyone was so friendly, caring, and helpful! We loved our stay here!

The Samba Vallarta was an excellent choice. The staff were amazing, so helpful and friendly. The hotel was spotless, cleaner than any other resort I've stayed at. The food was always hot, tasty and fresh. We enjoyed the authentic mexican choices for food. This is a smaller resort, but we found it quite charming. I'd highly recommend it to friends and will most likely return.

not greeted with a drink upon arrival, they charge $35/day extra for balcony room when every place i stayed at in mexico has a balcony, thats how your clothes dry, bartenders and waiters were excellent, but ac in room broke 5x they still wouldn't budge on a balcony upgrade!

The hotel needs some updating! Bathroom was very small for 4 people! Would be nice when booking with you if we would have been told a price to upgrade to a suit

Great small resort!
Tue Jan 15 12:25:07 EST 2019
We just returned from our amazing 1 week stay at the Samba Vallarta. Myself and my husband have traveled to Mexico 18 times and have stayed in 3-5+ stars, small and large resorts. We were traveling with our family (14yrs and 18yrs and my husband and myself) plus another family of 5. The check in was off to a rough start since we booked connecting rooms since my son has autism and was unable to stay in a room alone. Since the resort is very small they were unable to accommodate our requests since the resort was at 90% capacity. Franciscco at the front desk worked very hard to try and accommodate us, he was amazing. When he was still unable to help us Israel stepped in and got us 2 rooms across the hall from each other. We were grateful to at least have that. Israel then walked us to our rooms and asked if this was ok, we thank him for his hard work and told him it was ok but my husband and I were disappointed to spend the next week separated into different rooms on our vacation due to needing an adult in each room. He then told us that by tomorrow he would have figured something out for us...which he did! I can not express enough gratitude for Israel! Without him this review would have gone a different way. He even made special arrangements for my nieces 10th birthday by decorating their room and having a birthday dessert at dinner. I have to say, out of the many different resorts we have visited, this resort is in the top 3! Every morning I enjoyed my mimosa and coffee and bailey’s in the restaurant thanks to Cele and incredible omelette and eggs over easy prepared by Lore. She was such a delight every morning! I want to give a big shout out to the bar staff Vicente, Martin, Johnny (rocket) Bruno and Cirilo, they made incredible drinks, very friendly! My son had just recently turned 18yrs old and they were so respectful about the amount of alcohol they put in his drinks and even offered him water between drinks! As a mother I can not thank them enough! I also want to thank Salvador for always taking care of our family daily at the pool! He even made sure we had our drinks (he remembered what everyone’s drinks were) when he was on beach service...he always went out of his way for us at the pool. This resort deserves a 5 star rating for their service alone. Our rooms were a bit outdated but very clean, and beds were comfortable. We had trouble with our room safe (user error) and Javier from security was quick to “fix” it by helping us to use it properly. Food was great every night at the buffet and the snack lunch bar was fresh and delicious. We did eat at the Mexican and Italian restaurant and the food was incredible. You will not go hungry at this resort...there is something for everyone. The entertainment staff did a great job! We enjoyed yoga and water aerobics and they made it so fun! We will definitely be returning to this resort in the near future. Thank you to everyone who made this week amazing.

Im a 20 yr old canadian man . Let me tell you, food was great, people were great, ambiance was great. Beach is nice and if you’re into clubbing theres a spot 30-40min away (split the cab with your friends). I made a group of friends there and we partied a lot. So if you and your friends are thinking of coming here I would definitely consider it. Some of it is also luck as we never know when or if people will go to the same resort, so I guess I got lucky when it came to that. Also its all inclusive (alcohol too). Il be returning here 100% may come for spring break! The animators are awesome. They go out of their ways to ensure that we feel comfortable and have a blast. Jose,Hugo,Ceci and the othe guy I forgot (starts with an S) but he was great too!

Definitely not a 4 star resort

Our family of 3 (2 adults 1 child) enjoyed: *the smallness of the resort so you were always only 2-3 min walk from everything within the resort *the location is right on the beach and it is a great safe spot to play in the waves *the cleanliness of our room *the friendliness of the staff (it is not their fault they are understaffed) We did not enjoy: the cheapness/money saving techniques of the resort including: *waiter understaffing which led to slow service *cooks giving out chintzy food portions eg it was "steak night" and we waited/stood in line for 10+ min for the steak to be cooked only to each be given a small piece of beef 3-4 oz max. When we asked for more we were met with frowns and head shaking. This also happened at the breakfast omelette station - you were frowned at if you asked for too many ingredients (more than 2-3). Please note we only ate at the buffet restaurant *no kids club which was advertised on all their write-ups but is actually defunct. They say they have daily kids' activities but there is no schedule of what the activities are or when. You have to ask every morning and they are supposed to have activities at 10 am noon and 4 pm. But there is only 1 worker assigned to kids club and she did not even run the 3 activities/day *the entertainment schedule is lacking. They only have 5-6 activities/day but again it seemed arbitrary if the activity would run or not *the sporting equipment was usable but mostly in bad shape *it is supposed to be A/I resort but on the write-up you get at check-in we were asked to "consider" the 2 drinks/person limit at the bar or restaurant. Also you are only given 2 bottles of water/room/day no matter how many people are in your room (and they missed 3 days of restocking our water) *there is really only 1 bar (besides the restaurant) open during the day which then switches to only 1 different bar open in the evening *our toilet handle had to be "jiggled" each time you flush to stop the water from running constantly *the evening shows were pretty lacklustre. We only went to 3/7 shows. The other shows we left early due to boredom or didn't go at all *the precooked buffet food is plentiful but mediocre (alot of things were overly salty) Overall we had a good time. We enjoyed the wonderful sunshine, the beautiful beach, playing in the gentle surf and not having to cook, clean or work! However we would not come back to this resort as we think this resort is at best a 3.5 star but the pricing is similar to other resorts which we think are true 4 star places

Christmas and New Year Eve at the Samba
BestTravelling, Vancouver, Canada

We felt we received good value for the most expensive week of the year (Christmas and New Year were included in our trip). Pros: - Large day beds/cabanas available at the pool and the garden. Other resorts would charge you to reserve these but here, they are free and often available if you come by the pool in the morning. - No problem to find a lounger or a day bed at a reasonable hour in the morning (no need to secure a spot at 6am like other places!) - Great free wifi everywhere on the resort - Outstanding desserts! The best I have eaten in all the 4 and 5 stars resorts in Mexico! - The pools are perfect. Depth of the pool vary, which is great. The deepest part is about 5 feet, which I loved. - The staff did work very hard to offer an outstanding New Year Eve celebration. Wow! It was really special and we felt lucky to be there to celebrate the arrival of 2019. - Resort is small and feel safe, it's easy to see everything and supervise kids. - We loved how the staff remembered us every day, they work very hard! - Ismael, at the breakfast, was my favorite employee. Muchas Gracias Ismael para excellente mimosas! -Even if the resport was at full capacity, the pool was not crowded, no line up to eat, no line-up everywhere, which is very remarkable at this busy time of year! - Nice evening shows. Cons: - No kids club as advertised. They have discountinued their kids club and we wish we would have knew that before booking. They do offer activities during the day, with no formal check-in or check-out of the kids, so parents need to stay around. It's more entertainment than supervised activities. Kids need to wait for an announcement to see what will be offered. Activities are repeated most days: bracelets making, soccer game, etc. But I have to mention that kids stay and eat free, so I can not really complain about their choice of closing their kids club. - The food was bland to our taste. We wish they had a grill station to cook chicken, fish or beef on demand. Instead, the grill station was used to reheat some meals and the station was not really appealing. Guacamole, chips and salsa were absent, except at the à la carte restaurant. Most of the meat were diced and presented in stew or a sauce. Having this said, we ate outside the resort 3 times and it was enough to give us a break and satisfy our mexican food cravings. - Cocktails have a powdery/artificial taste, even at their premium lobby bar. Stick with wine, it's better. Other points to note: - They do enforce the non smoking policy (a plus for us!) - There is no ocean or pool view from the main buffet, but they have a nice interior garden with outdoor seating. - Do not forget to tip, they work hard! We tipped at every meal, every drink and everyday for the maids and to the bell boys, when applicable. It was well deserved. - The room were better than expected after reading all the reviews. It's a great base and we do not spend time in our room during the day. The disco music was noisy at night in our room but we brought our "LectroFan" white noise machine and it was perfect. Bring your white noise machine and you will not hear a thing! -The entertainment staff is outstanding (the whole team, thank you!) -Thanks to Israel, at the front desk. Tips: We booked this all inclusive trip 2 weeks and a half in advance and got a very good last minute deal. Christmas and New Year can get very expensive (2 to 3 times the regular winter prices) and waiting was worth it after all for us. Final words: Excellent value for what we paid. I would have been disappointed if we would have have paid the full high season price, as high as others 4 or 4.5 resorts as we felt that the food and beverage offerings were nothing special (it was our third trip in Mexico this year so we can easily compare to other 4, 4.5 and 5 stars resorts). Having this said, we always found something to eat at each meal. Thank you for this memorable stay and for the amazing New Year Eve celebration!

This was my first time at Samba. Everyone there was so friendly, dedicated, hard working and helpful. Shout-out to Ernesto, Izhmael, Israel, Fernando! My kids love the beach and pool. The pool was very warm and I usually have to "acclimatize" getting into the pool but I could just jump right in! The resort is 30 years old but it's kept so clean and tidy. The food in general was pretty good. The Italian Restaurant was excellent! The rooms were a bit dated but we just catch a quick zzzz and we are out the next morning We will definitely come back again!!!!!
