I absolutely loved my stay at Samba! The staff was what truly made the stay great! They were great from the minute we arrived! Everyone remembered our names and greeted us with smiles. The activity directors were enthusiastic and engaging for everyone of all ages! The bar tenders were funny friendly and hard working! Everyone was so attentive to all of our needs. There was so much space on the beach for everyone to sit and the view was wonderful. There was always food somewhere during the day! I never felt that I was lacking the opportunity wat good food and drink yummy drinks! The pool was beautiful and clean! I loved Bruno and Martin! They were so wonderful! The dancing at night was fun and I loved all the entertainment! I will definitely come back in the near future! Thank you for everything!

Salvador is the best employee I have ever met. Hotel is older but grounds are impeccable. Rooms are older but comfortable and who spends time in their room when they are on vacation other than to shower and sleep. The clientele was very grounded. Great vacation!

Meh. Very Meh.

My friend and I had 5 nights/4 days at Samba. We expected it to be in the range of 3-star resorts, but it was more like 2. Our check-in was decent, but the person working the front desk incorrectly told us information about a ton of the hotel. The rest of the service was decent. Salvador at the beach was great for remembering us and our margarita flavors. What was really unimpressive was the room quality. Lots of water stains, itchy sheets, and gross bathtub. The maid came in twice, for whatever reason, and each time, the room wasn't cleaned outside maybe sweeping the floor (though we always found piles of sand from our shoes after she left) and remaking the bed. I've been to all-inclusives in Cancun and they are so much better than Samba. No free room service, 2 beers and waters in the fridge (that wasn't always restocked), terrible food, no "extra" touches. We were glad we made plans outside the resort when we saw just how low-quality and mediocre it was.

The food was never hot and very bland. Mike (the Apple employee) didn't come to the resort daily and no one had a contact number for him. We had questions, but couldn't get answers because of this. The hotel was using some sort of sealant on the hotel doors. The fumes gave us terrible headaches. The safe in our room didn't work and the air conditioning was weak. The hallways, elevators and lobby were not air conditioned at all.

The food was always cold. Had to fight with staff and manager to get non motorized sports equipment. Some sports equipment was broken or missing pieces. Could not eat in restaurants unless booked the day before even though they were never full. Maids did not clean room until 6pm most nights.

We were treated so well at Samba Vallarta--the staff was very caring and attentive. Micsael from the front desk went above and beyond for us from the moment we arrived. Everyone was so friendly, caring, and helpful! We loved our stay here!

The Samba Vallarta was an excellent choice. The staff were amazing, so helpful and friendly. The hotel was spotless, cleaner than any other resort I've stayed at. The food was always hot, tasty and fresh. We enjoyed the authentic mexican choices for food. This is a smaller resort, but we found it quite charming. I'd highly recommend it to friends and will most likely return.

beautiful grounds, poor hotel rooms

not greeted with a drink upon arrival, they charge $35/day extra for balcony room when every place i stayed at in mexico has a balcony, thats how your clothes dry, bartenders and waiters were excellent, but ac in room broke 5x they still wouldn't budge on a balcony upgrade!

The hotel needs some updating! Bathroom was very small for 4 people! Would be nice when booking with you if we would have been told a price to upgrade to a suit

This was our second time here and we could not be any happier with this last visit. The staff is absolutely amazing, they take the time to get to know your name and remember what you eat and drink. The entertainment crew is phenomenal, they know how to get people up and having a good time. CeCi is amazing with the kids during the kids activists. The food is always good and we loved the dinners in the garden. The nightly entertainment was always great. There was a group of 11 of us and we can’t wait for our next trip. The beach is awesome and there are always lots of chairs to sit in. This is a nice small resort for kids and I felt great letting my kids wander around together. The rooms are decent, clean and well cared for.

4th Trip Back to the Samba

This is our 4th visit back to the Samba, and it felt like coming back home ! The positives THE STAFF, they truly are the heart and soul of this hotel, and make your stay a very wonderful experience!! Everyone that works at this hotel go out of their way to make you feel welcome, always smiling and willing to help with any need. I am not going to try and name them all, I would surely forget someone and wouldn't want to do that. The food was delicious with lots of choices, and the drinks were fabulous ( they are definitely not watered down, I had a few good hangovers to prove that). They now have 3 sittings for the Italian and Mexican dinning which is good, but now do not do the fancy coffee at your table. You can still get a special coffee, just not the awesome display of making it. The hotel definitely needs upgrades !! The pool looks in worse condition and the rooms still have quite a musty smell. The bathrooms certainly need upgrades and the air conditioners were noisy !! We had a king size bed which was great, but it was very hard, not a problem for my husband though , he loved it. But over all the rooms and grounds are kept very clean. Unfortunately we had cock roaches in our room 3 times :( first one we killed, left for the maid, second 2 were in the bathroom and we just killed and flushed. It was a little unnerving for sure, and we have NEVER had a problem with cock roaches in our room before. Our room was located by a stair well and people did leave left over plates of food in the stair well, maybe the cause ?? This will not keep us from coming back to this resort though, but if it was to happen again, well that could be a game changer. Beach is beautiful as always, and kept clean in the hotel area of the beach, BUT there are a lot more horses on the beach and this led to a lot of horse poop on the beaches. Some times the owners would clean it up , but mostly they didn't !! We saw a turtle hatch !!! Whales !!! Dolphins !! Bat Rays !!! and thankfully no sea snakes this time :) The bats still come out of the bell tower and under the tile roof every night, awesome sight to see, and of course keeps the bugs at bay. Vendors at the Palapa on the beach are friendly and not intrusive . Walked to Bucerias on the beach this trip twice, was a nice walk but does take some time. I was looking for beach glass so I cant tell you exactly how long it would take you, but I would say no more than 50 mins. We went into town twice to YoYo Mo's for Pizza and to watch a hockey game, great time !! and the most delicious pizza ever. Went to Fat Boys ( El Gordo) twice for lunch and it is a lovely spot to have a bite to eat and a cold bucket of beer. (Nothing like a cold bottle of beer) We also did a late afternoon early evening trip into PV walked the Malecon and stopped for beers at Cheeky Monkey, Sea Horse and a stop for supper, cant remember the name of the spot. Then took the Gondela up the hill to the SkyBar and if you have never done this it is a must. The view from the Skybar is breath taking!! One quick beer at Andile's ( didn't spell that right lol) and one at the Redneck bar then grabbed a cab back to the resort ( 290 pesos I believe). Cab ride into Bucerias was 105 peso's. I will wrap up this very long review by saying this, if you want a fancy 5 star hotel then book one !! If you are happy with a 3 1/2 star hotel you will love the Samba, because you will be getting better than 5 star service from the wonderful people that work here. We love the Samba and hope to be back next year. If you have any questions feel free to ask, I will be brutally honest with you.

Fantastic Vacation

I could have easily rated this property as a 5 star however the one and only drawback was the loud entertainment poolside each day. Aside from that the service, Jose at the front desk, Salvador & the wait staff in general was accommodating our every request. The food was excellent, breakfast, lunch, dinner and everything in between. My wife especially enjoyed doing the crafts offered, which included the necessity of purchasing an extra suitcase to bring home her work. Overall an excellent experience which we highly recommend!

We went with a large group of families 37 total people. Large enough to offer good choices for food and things to do. Beautiful beach, beach volleyball, basketball (small area), shuffleboard, lots of seating on the beach. Pool area large enough for the resort, bathrooms clean and great staff.

We will be back!

We were at Samba last week and had a fabulous time. The staff were amazing...so friendly and courteous. The food was so much better than previous reviewers have stated. Sure it wasn't always fine dining as it was buffet but there was always something tasty to eat. The theme nights eating outside were so much fun. Our "partial ocean view" was basically a panorama! The proximity to the beach was unbelievable. My daughters called it "the best trip ever!" Thanks Samba Vallarta.
