I absolutely loved my stay at Samba! The staff was what truly made the stay great! They were great from the minute we arrived! Everyone remembered our names and greeted us with smiles. The activity directors were enthusiastic and engaging for everyone of all ages! The bar tenders were funny friendly and hard working! Everyone was so attentive to all of our needs. There was so much space on the beach for everyone to sit and the view was wonderful. There was always food somewhere during the day! I never felt that I was lacking the opportunity wat good food and drink yummy drinks! The pool was beautiful and clean! I loved Bruno and Martin! They were so wonderful! The dancing at night was fun and I loved all the entertainment! I will definitely come back in the near future! Thank you for everything!

Salvador is the best employee I have ever met. Hotel is older but grounds are impeccable. Rooms are older but comfortable and who spends time in their room when they are on vacation other than to shower and sleep. The clientele was very grounded. Great vacation!

My friend and I had 5 nights/4 days at Samba. We expected it to be in the range of 3-star resorts, but it was more like 2. Our check-in was decent, but the person working the front desk incorrectly told us information about a ton of the hotel. The rest of the service was decent. Salvador at the beach was great for remembering us and our margarita flavors. What was really unimpressive was the room quality. Lots of water stains, itchy sheets, and gross bathtub. The maid came in twice, for whatever reason, and each time, the room wasn't cleaned outside maybe sweeping the floor (though we always found piles of sand from our shoes after she left) and remaking the bed. I've been to all-inclusives in Cancun and they are so much better than Samba. No free room service, 2 beers and waters in the fridge (that wasn't always restocked), terrible food, no "extra" touches. We were glad we made plans outside the resort when we saw just how low-quality and mediocre it was.

The food was never hot and very bland. Mike (the Apple employee) didn't come to the resort daily and no one had a contact number for him. We had questions, but couldn't get answers because of this. The hotel was using some sort of sealant on the hotel doors. The fumes gave us terrible headaches. The safe in our room didn't work and the air conditioning was weak. The hallways, elevators and lobby were not air conditioned at all.

The food was always cold. Had to fight with staff and manager to get non motorized sports equipment. Some sports equipment was broken or missing pieces. Could not eat in restaurants unless booked the day before even though they were never full. Maids did not clean room until 6pm most nights.

The Samba Vallarta was an excellent choice. The staff were amazing, so helpful and friendly. The hotel was spotless, cleaner than any other resort I've stayed at. The food was always hot, tasty and fresh. We enjoyed the authentic mexican choices for food. This is a smaller resort, but we found it quite charming. I'd highly recommend it to friends and will most likely return.

not greeted with a drink upon arrival, they charge $35/day extra for balcony room when every place i stayed at in mexico has a balcony, thats how your clothes dry, bartenders and waiters were excellent, but ac in room broke 5x they still wouldn't budge on a balcony upgrade!

The hotel needs some updating! Bathroom was very small for 4 people! Would be nice when booking with you if we would have been told a price to upgrade to a suit

This was our 2nd trip to Samba, having first stayed there in 2004 after the hurricane moved us from our original choice. We were impressed by the excellent service and best staff we have ever encountered. Travels took us elsewhere for a while but we were happy to return in January 2018. We have met many people who have been coming back to Samba for 10 or 12 years, for 2 weeks to 2 months at a time. This speaks volumes for the quality of service here. The hotel is a little faded but I must say everything works and is very clean. If you're looking for a place to relax, this is it. With less than 200 rooms there is never a lack of space at the pool or on the beach. No line ups anywhere to speak of. FOOD: The buffet and a la carte restaurants were very good. You won't see lobster at the buffet but the selection was excellent as was the quality. We always found something we loved at every meal. With the exception of the bacon! More on that later. STAFF: What a great bunch of people. No one ever has a bad day. All smiling and happy and I guarantee they will remember your name, even if you haven't been back for several years. They'll know your morning coffee/tea/juice preference and where you like to sit, what drinks you like in the evening or by the pool. Ismael, Martin, Roberto, Juan were just some of the best service people ever. ROOMS: If you are booking, try to get odd numbered rooms. These overlook the pool/garden and also have good sea views to the side. Even numbered rooms also have side sea views but face the Riu next door and sometimes the noise level isn't great. Balcony rooms are good with plenty of room on the balcony with sun or shade depending on the time of day. Mini fridge stocked with beer, water and a couple of soft drinks, an in room safe, coffee machine (only one coffee serving, costs $2 to have it re-stocked), hair dryer, good shower, TV and plenty of hot water. ACCESS: There is good access here for those with mobility issues. Elevators to all floors and ramps at every stairway. There is a ramp to the beach and the pool has a shallow end access that can accommodate a wheelchair. Showers have a small 4 inch lip and shower chairs are available. SMOKING: Puerto Vallarta has really cut back on the smoking areas available. All rooms and restaurants at this resort are non-smoking. There are smoking areas in front of the hotel, and on the beach but none directly at the pool. There is also no smoking anywhere inside the PV airport. Just a heads up. SUGGESTIONS FOR THE HOTEL: 1) Some people like to have coffee outside of meal times. This hotel needs a coffee bar, maybe on the first floor by the store, where you could go and get a coffee, tea, cappuccino etc. at any time (not 24 hours). Having specialty coffee at the bars just slows down the regular bar traffic. It needs it's own space. 2) Bacon. I'm not sure what that is you are serving at breakfast but it's not bacon as we know it and it's very overcooked. Please find a different supplier. Raise my price if you have to but find new bacon. Thanks!

Although our initial impression of the Samba was not great, the place warmed up to us over a couple of days. The resort is small, less then 200 rooms, so it is easy to get to meet people that you see all around. The food was good and a reasonable variety that could be eaten outside which to us is a big plus. The staff are great, and the patrons were all quite active as each of the scheduled activities were always well supported. Is is about a 30 minute walk to Bucarias on the beach during low tide (easier to walk during low tide), or you can bike it in about 10 minutes with the hotels bikes. We would stay here again as we like the smaller resorts and their personal feel.

Check in not great, room was not as requested

Arrived at hotel Dec. 27. All inclusive with Ait Transat, contacted hotel twice and asked for high floor, pool view room. Received emails back to say request was sent to Samba concierge. Also requested Air Transat to give my request to hotel. Room I was offered faced neighboring hotel mesh fence. So with much negotiation and complaining I paid an additional $320 to upgrade to a pool view room. My granddaughters were so disappointed with the first room. Not sure if this happens to everyone for the hotel to get an upgrade in cost. Alex at front desk was very friendly and staff very good, especially Salvador and Carolina. Outside bell staff were also very nice. Everyday we had to go to lobby as our room key didn’t work.

Love the Samba Vallarta!

I originally visited Samba Vallarta in 2004 with my husband and our two small children. I returned last week with a friend and was very pleased that it remains much the same: a smaller resort, very family-friendly and very safe. The food was excellent and there were many healthy choices. The staff are friendly and helpful; my friend and I had to change from sharing a room to having two separate rooms and although the hotel was full, they were able to accommodate our needs. A fun and relaxing vacation at an unbeatable price. I would return again in a heartbeat. Gracias, Samba Vallarta!

My family stayed at Samba Vallarta January 4-11 2018. Our visit was with family ranging from 7 year old to late 50’s. We were a group of 9. Our stay was nothing less than perfect. Check in was easy, even when on the second day we upgraded to a suite (highly recommended). Thank you Alex for all your help! Samba Vallarta is clean, the staff is amazing, food was good, (we always could find something to eat!) deserts were tasty, drinks were good, shows were decent. Salvador was out favourite server, and he went above and beyond for us whether it was at the buffet, bar, beach or pool! Salvador you sincerely made our vacation a good one. All the staff are so friendly and attentive right down to housekeeping. I’m so glad we chose this resort for our family and will certainly go back!
