I absolutely loved my stay at Samba! The staff was what truly made the stay great! They were great from the minute we arrived! Everyone remembered our names and greeted us with smiles. The activity directors were enthusiastic and engaging for everyone of all ages! The bar tenders were funny friendly and hard working! Everyone was so attentive to all of our needs. There was so much space on the beach for everyone to sit and the view was wonderful. There was always food somewhere during the day! I never felt that I was lacking the opportunity wat good food and drink yummy drinks! The pool was beautiful and clean! I loved Bruno and Martin! They were so wonderful! The dancing at night was fun and I loved all the entertainment! I will definitely come back in the near future! Thank you for everything!

Salvador is the best employee I have ever met. Hotel is older but grounds are impeccable. Rooms are older but comfortable and who spends time in their room when they are on vacation other than to shower and sleep. The clientele was very grounded. Great vacation!

Meh. Very Meh.

My friend and I had 5 nights/4 days at Samba. We expected it to be in the range of 3-star resorts, but it was more like 2. Our check-in was decent, but the person working the front desk incorrectly told us information about a ton of the hotel. The rest of the service was decent. Salvador at the beach was great for remembering us and our margarita flavors. What was really unimpressive was the room quality. Lots of water stains, itchy sheets, and gross bathtub. The maid came in twice, for whatever reason, and each time, the room wasn't cleaned outside maybe sweeping the floor (though we always found piles of sand from our shoes after she left) and remaking the bed. I've been to all-inclusives in Cancun and they are so much better than Samba. No free room service, 2 beers and waters in the fridge (that wasn't always restocked), terrible food, no "extra" touches. We were glad we made plans outside the resort when we saw just how low-quality and mediocre it was.

The food was never hot and very bland. Mike (the Apple employee) didn't come to the resort daily and no one had a contact number for him. We had questions, but couldn't get answers because of this. The hotel was using some sort of sealant on the hotel doors. The fumes gave us terrible headaches. The safe in our room didn't work and the air conditioning was weak. The hallways, elevators and lobby were not air conditioned at all.

The food was always cold. Had to fight with staff and manager to get non motorized sports equipment. Some sports equipment was broken or missing pieces. Could not eat in restaurants unless booked the day before even though they were never full. Maids did not clean room until 6pm most nights.

We were treated so well at Samba Vallarta--the staff was very caring and attentive. Micsael from the front desk went above and beyond for us from the moment we arrived. Everyone was so friendly, caring, and helpful! We loved our stay here!

The Samba Vallarta was an excellent choice. The staff were amazing, so helpful and friendly. The hotel was spotless, cleaner than any other resort I've stayed at. The food was always hot, tasty and fresh. We enjoyed the authentic mexican choices for food. This is a smaller resort, but we found it quite charming. I'd highly recommend it to friends and will most likely return.

beautiful grounds, poor hotel rooms

not greeted with a drink upon arrival, they charge $35/day extra for balcony room when every place i stayed at in mexico has a balcony, thats how your clothes dry, bartenders and waiters were excellent, but ac in room broke 5x they still wouldn't budge on a balcony upgrade!

The hotel needs some updating! Bathroom was very small for 4 people! Would be nice when booking with you if we would have been told a price to upgrade to a suit

The staff at this lovely, little resort aim to please. The fact this resort is small is both a pro and a con depending on what you’re looking for. We stayed for 10 days and I was wishing there were more places on the grounds to explore. Our room was simple but did the trick, though it didn’t have a balcony. The beds were comfortable with loads of pillows. The restaurant serving and seating staff went above and beyond. While there wasn’t an overwhelming variety of food, like at some huge resorts, there was plenty to choose from, and it was delicious. The a la carte restaurants had especially delightful dinner options, including mahi-mahi and red snapper for fish lovers! A 10 minute cab ride to the North brought us to a cute little fishing village, Bucerias. For fresh delicious seafood, go to Fat Boys! If you want to hit up the nearest Starbucks and mall, that was a 10 min cab ride south. We did walk on the bike/walking path and it took 60min at a leisurely pace. The resort has bikes, which would make the trip much shorter. Also on the resort, you will find a booth to buy silver items, ran by Rafael, and others with locally made trinkets. Each of us spent our fair share, ha! A shout out to Salvador, our pool and beach beverage amigo. What a delight, so speedy and friendly. He made a heck of a mojito! Thank you to all the great staff for helping to make our visit a swell one.

We recently just came back from the samba. We stayed one week from April 12th to the 19th. The resort is in dire need of renovation. The rooms are tired. The entrance to the resort is like a smoking pit outside and the lobby bar is pathetic. The food was awful and that's not understated. The grounds towards the beach are really nice as well as the beach. The service was good and staff are friendly. They sell a lot of rooms to mexican family's to get revenue. The rooms facing the pool are noisey and the disco music blares till 1am. We will never return as it is by no means a 4 star hotel. Not worth the money!

Great Little Place!

We booked this vacation back in February, and before I book I always check the reviews to help make my decision. This place was fabulous. The staff were helpful and courteous, the food was great every meal and with such a close proximity to the beach, and easy access to PV and only a half hour, beautiful beach walk into Bucerías, lined with beach front massage huts. (One hour for US$20.. it’s worth it!) We found plenty of things to do in our 9 days at Samba. The resort is very clean with very well manicured gardens. The pool was fun for the kids, they spent countless hours swimming and playing in the pirate ship and making new friends from around the world. Plenty of local vendors along the beach and even a few right at the resort made shopping fun for those days you didn’t want to leave. The entertainment was consistent with a talented staff (loved the Tiki show!) and my youngest was able to show off her talent at karaoke which made her so happy. The beach is immaculate with soft sand and warm water and as it is a smaller resort, we never had a worry finding beach chairs to lounge about. Lots of daily activities, pool, ping pong and body surfing boards. Never had to go far to find the little extras. Rooms are very clean, showers were hot with good pressure and the maids are very pleasant, dropping off chocolate kisses every night for the kids. The food, we found, was fabulous. Lots to choose from with different creations daily, we never left disappointed. Breakfast is busy but we ate later at 10. The one day we had to get up early we stopped for breakfast and it was quiet. Lunch and dinner were never crowded which allowed for a pleasant dining experience. The food at the buffet was so good we didn’t even bother booking a la carte! The hours of the restaurant are excellent. Later breakfast closing time which didn’t pressure us to get up and out so fast in the morning. After reading a few negative reviews before going I now have a couple tips: the food is of Mexican authenticity- which we prefer when visiting other countries, cuisine authentic to the area. It’s excellent, it’s not big but it doesn’t have to be. And they do offer kid friendly options like fries, chicken nuggets, hot dogs, spaghetti. Bring water bottles. They only stock two small bottles in the fridge and yes, extra costs a bit more but if you take your bottles to the restaurant you can fill them, and the bar tenders are more than happy to fill them too. We were not put out. The rooms do have a bit of a musty smell but it’s humid and coastal. It’s not bad and you do get used to it. I’ve stayed at 5 star places that have the same thing. Rooms are a bit dated but you aren’t really in them that long anyway. Everything worked, beds were clean and cozy, room was very clean. It’s a smaller, more family oriented resort. That means kids. My kids had the time of their lives, we hardly saw them after about three days. But with the smaller resorts, the atmosphere is more intimate, you have space to relax and move about. Bring a few extra pesos. The service is so excellent you’re going to want to leave a tip. All in all we had a fabulous time. I don’t usually stay at the same place twice as we like to try other places for more experiences but I can honestly say I would stay here again. Good job, Samba!!

What a perfect gem!

We just arrived home from a week at Samba! We had 6 in our group and we can't say enough about the great service! All of the staff had smiles and spoke every time we saw them. The buffets were excellent with a good variety of food. Very impressed with the fact that the food was always nice and hot. Alex, Armando & Bruno and their support staff went out of their way to look after us. The Italian al a carte had excellent food and Alex makes special coffees that are a show in themselves. The Mexican restaurant was very good too! The rooms could use some freshening and the lobby could use some colour and atmosphere but the whole resort is spotless! We liked the fact that everything was convenient. The pool is beautiful and the beach goes on forever. No problem getting chairs at either. We were able to get wifi all over the resort which was bonus! Would highly recommend Samba if you want a quaint resort with personal service!

We had an amazing time while we were there! We loved Savador! He was always quick and eager to get us our drinks down at the palapas and made us feel welcome and remembered what we liked! Go Salvador!
