Friendly staff, nice resort

We had a really great time at Royalton Blue Waters. The staff was exceptional, the resort is pristine, and the food was good. The entertainment crew works really hard, and Kevin did a great job with the morning fitness class. Definitely would give this 5 stars if it hadn't been for the plumbing issues (no hot water for a day, then no water for an afternoon, but it came back on during day 2). A pleasant, fun, relaxing trip.

I just returned 2 days ago from a stay at Blue Waters and I honestly want to go back! It is such a beautiful Resort and the staff were attentive, accommodating and extremely friendly! Some of the best parts of my trip came from being at the bars on the resort, especially the swim up bar. It was so lively, the bartenders were great and the Vibe Team was amazing!! Big thanks to Javare and Garth on the VibeTeam, and Donniel, Leticia and Yanique at the bars for making my visit special! (Sorry if I've messed up on your name) - Autumn <3

Great start and the potential to be greater!!

I want to start off by sharing what I think is a honest review about the Royalton the pros and cons of staying at this very new resort. I really want to take my time going through day-to-day expectations and just my overall perception of the quality of resort that you're getting. This was a pre-birthday celebration and we stayed from October 2nd to October 7th so just a humble six days. We decided to fly down and we actually booked through bookit.com which is great we got about 60% off of the entire booking and I also included our ground transportation as well as Club Mobay services. Just to make this a smooth out of a vacation as possible. From the airport to the Royalton about 45 minutes very quick ride and we arrive at the Royalton and obviously we are going on during the non-peak season which is perfect because I hate crowds. We were greeted by Nicola who was absolutely the sweetest Hostess we've ever met who helped us navigate and and checked into our room. We had the Diamond Club junior luxury Suite Swim Up Room. Honestly we could have upgraded to the presidential or a larger Suite that they had but neither one of those rooms have a swim up by far the swim-up Suites are the best in the hotel and you also have to Butler's that provide you with assistance in service during your entire stay with no extra charge as a Diamond club member. When we arrived we were unable to enter our room because we are very early for check-in and so we met our first Butler Alastair, and we were escorted to have lunch at while our room was being prepared which was excellent there is a Diamond Club section in the main Buffet Hall and that was very helpful out for both of us to partake and have a wonderful lunch but there is assistance given to all the guess no matter whether you are a Diamond Club member or just a regular guess that's there. One downside to the buffet Hall I'm honestly not sure what else maybe calls is that even though your Diamond Club member I noticed throughout my stay that they were other non Diamond Club members that were sitting in that section never corrected never asked to move elsewhere and honestly didn't seem like they knew that there was an exclusive area that separates the Diamond Club. The reason this is a concern is because if I had paid the full price even though a part of that cost was in my book it fair so discounted it's really upsetting to know that you pay almost $660 more for the trip to be a part of Diamond Club for this exclusivity but anybody can go to certain areas and they're not questioned at all. so what's the point of paying that at all? That's a lot of money for someone, for anyone that's on a budget who's thinking that you're getting something extra or special as a service. This was also seen in the Diamond Club Lobby a few times and also there is a Diamond Club bar that if you had extra friends and guests and all of that who aren't Diamond Club members I'm not sure if the rules are that you can bring them up with you but that was never explain but any who you see that there are folks with white bands that are allowed into the areas if they're from White Sands or from the regular part of Blue Waters they're allowed to be in Diamond Club areas when they have not paid at all to be a Diamond Club member and so my next round for the the next trip I don't know if I would necessarily say four Diamond Club membership because I don't feel like I got my money's worth in that regard. GIVING TIPS The bellhop showed us to our room everything was clean and organized and it was beautiful however we noticed that our curtains weren't fully on the rides and there's probably one other thing that was wrong and it was unfortunate that the Bell hot was more interested in getting his tip than actually helping us to resolve the issues that he found as a non guess minor but that was fine but just a note that we spent so much money giving out tips it was beyond ridiculous most of them are spending money was giving out five ten twenties here and there and of course with our Butler it was more significant money to give but for people to be willing to do their jobs every single day we had to give tips for everything and there is a noticeable difference in the willingness for someone to do and work for you vs not at all. I know that when we go to places especially here in the states we at times give tips for perspective if all inclusive resort where I can get drinks all day long at any of the right because they lined and happy in their pocket it's not a good feeling at all and again most of my money went towards giving tips not buying souvenirs to go back home not going to outside exclusive restaurants or even the driver that we had to legitimately pay to go around the island. Most of the money went towards tips from every person that you made contact with from the airport the lounge Club the driver your butler your waitresses at all the different restaurants that you go to every single person you came in contact with just about was looking for a tip and no one sits down and really calculate how much money that really is and it's kind of upsetting to know that on vacation you have to fork over so much. The other thing is the Royalton is a three maybe four star resort that has the potential to be 5 but is not quite there yet if money wasn't an issue I would not be staying at the Royalton so again to the resort that you're staying and the expectations of the workers need to be much more humble. We later met our second Butler tessalee who was an absolute Joy. She checked on us daily she ensured that we had reservations try to work out any kinks or bugs when it came to room service or trying to change travel plans and was such a delight and always made her presence known. Honestly, she is by far the best part of the Diamond Club Suite service that we received I really appreciate her and if by chance anyone receive her as a butler she's worth it and it's just a joy to be around. We had a couple of pleasant surprises along the way where we came back are Butler again Tessalee in sure that we had housekeeping services at a certain time and of course we always came back to our room that's pleasant surprises whether it's a drawn by an outfit that was picked out for dinner reservations for a restaurant that we wanted to try. Of course in typical and outstanding Jamaican fashion there were beautiful displays on our beds and near where are bath was drawn we had a wonderful dinner on the beach which was absolutely amazing with a private Chef that made a meal that was better than any of the meals at any of the restaurants. And it was delightful. We fired our own driver to take us to Ocho Rios however when we asked our Butler's four different options that we could do actually at the resort those options for quite a few where we had to go to a against a separate office that's sold excursions so I was a little confused because I thought that they were excursions on the resort as I've experienced that many other Resorts have non-motorized sports that you can participate in but none of those options were actually shared with us. So again everything kind of felt alicart and we had to pay for additional excursions which didn't seem really worth it to me as I'm not really a thrill-seeker so I don't want to do motorized but I've been places where you can do the Hobie Cat and you can go on a little boat ride that's guided on the see none of those things were offered if they even exist in the first place. One of the suggestions that I would have light to have seen is that there is an itinerary options that is created between you and your Butler's for things that you would like to do during the duration of your trip at the resort that starts with breakfast lunch dinner but also if there were activities that you would like to do or not do it's all built in so that expectations are set and that your Butler is in flustered or frustrated on what suggestions to give but you actually have planned out what you're hoping to get out of your trip as well as the additional amenities that they provide. Even though the Diamond Club explains on their website the services that they gives it was not reviewed in terms of the butler services that wasn't reviews with us during our trip that they can actually iron be said of her clothes that they will actually pack out their clothes and it wasn't honestly offered at all and nobody wants to feel that their imposing and asking for these additional things that should have been reviewed during our trip which it was not. There was also the hope that we would have received a full tour of the property to know where everything is which we didn't receive I mean we made it work for us and explore the resort on our own but there is a lot of things that we were figuring out each day that we didn't know the day before that might have made a a different impact or different how we plans even knowing the time schedules for when's like The Jerk Hut is open front all inclusive resorts you can't get access to all the food that you want whenever you want however as a plus they did have the room service options which was my favorite I ordered room service every single day which team was our room and our Diamond Club service and it wasn't an extra fee at all to order as much food as we wanted and to schedule a time for delivery that piece was actually smooth and seamless and I would definitely recommend that to anyone it can be delivered to you Morning News and even midnight. For dinner on the beach please see Tameka even though it was clarified that are Butlers were supposed to schedule that but it was such a great options that we didn't want to pass up and we had a couples massage and a wonderful dinner on the beach which was hosted by our lovely waitress and Miss Francine who was a delight I have pictures of her and my butler tessalee who just made that a wonderful evening. We did sit for a presentation that was for 90 minutes but actually was a lot longer and my only displeasure was that the manager who escorted us there and unfortunately I can't remember her name kind of made a mess of things with the person Nicola that we scheduled with there was some confusion that we were able to resolve but it was spinned in a way where this worker was going to have to pay back money that she honestly should not have old and I thought that was very fair unfair and sketchy from the moment that we met the manager who we didn't meet until the day that we were doing this presentation and took us away from our bonded person to escort us herself over which should not have happened. I think that managers need to be more present on the property and also remember that we are observing everything that's going on as consumers and they should be very mindful of this because I don't want to know that the folks that I work with are being ill-treated in anyway. We did not have hot water for a couple of days but we made it work sometimes you have to go old school at the end of the day you pick your battles we could have had no water at all and that to me at the worst option. We had some flickering of power but nothing significant where it was out hours; nothing of the sort in regards to power as I've noted that has been covered extensively in many other reviews. I would like to do a special mention for the following areas The Jerk Hut isn't bad for Taurus at all is probably the best that I've had in a very long time where was tolerable as a Jamaican American who knows genuine jerk but it wasn't bad. You should go to the spa for any service at all which is great I would also suggest Scoops for gelato ice cream which is on the property and their coffee is amazing when every single day and it's open late. There's also a cigar shop so if you've never experienced your first Cuban you should definitely get a Cuban if you just want to say you had that experience keep in mind it's a little pricey and of course we got the best $48 a cigar just to keep things in perspective. The pools and the ocean both are must it was great it was wonderful even though it rained off and on and even though there was one Rainy Day made it work it was great the weather was absolutely fine and I would suggest to anyone if you're going into the Caribbean and really want accurate information about the weather go on to AccuWeather not weather.com that really only works if you're in the states. Money exchange I really didn't do any I'd had no need whatsoever so if you're really spending most of your time on the resort it's not a necessary do. Even though Club Mobay is in a part of the Royalton I would suggest to anyone who's traveling if you want a smooth and seamless process from beginning to end from your arrival and departure Club Mobay is definitely a must must must must be cuz it I don't think I've ever gotten through customs and Security in such a rapid amount of time honestly I think I was done luggage and all from off of the plane and waiting in the lounge maybe 15 minutes tops worth every bit of money to join Club Mobay if you can. My major complaint is in regards to my ground transportation I was working with the young lady named Yanqeek I will never get ground transportation through whichever company I did through BookIt ever again. I was greatly dissatisfied as I had to wake up at 3 in the morning to be picked up at 3:55 a.m. for 8 in the morning flight and were the only couple that was picked up at such an ungodly hour my last day was spent traveling but to be up for so early and could not change the time at all that's probably was the worst part of this trip at the very end. Overall I would say that the Royalton is a beautiful property again with huge potential if certain details and training opportunities take place a five star resort that rivals the sandals of the Caribbean.

A fantastic experience

Pros and Cons to this place

I chose this resort to celebrate my daughters 16th Birthday. We visited from September 25 through 30. We are from Queens, New York and come from a working class home (Middle Income) Latin Caribbean Background. I believe when it comes to expectations and values, where you are raise and where you come from makes a difference in understanding perspectives. After the reviews I read about this resort, I was a bit skeptical about how my time there would turnout; However, I did not experience the issues that a lot of other people on trip advisors and other review sites experienced. A lot of people complained about the staff being tremendously rude, no hot water throughout their stay, or no water at all, WiFi not being available when you are supposed to disconnect from the world while on vaca. (A bit of sarcasm in that last sentence. Keeping in mind we visited when the summer was over, so maybe the amount of people in September does not have the same effect as the summer months would. Within itself the resort was beautiful all around. I purchased the diamond club option because it was available and wanted to avoid any restrictions I might of had without it. I believe it was worth the extra cash, although this was my first time there and have never experienced the resort without the diamond club option. With the diamond club option, you are assigned two butlers. Donville and Paul were assigned to my room and were very much respectful, helpful and accommodating when we needed something in particlar. They always extended their services even when we did not request anything. ALL of the rooms have an Ocean View. The way it is presented as an option on this website is very much FALSE Advertising and the extra amount paid for an ocean view is quite deceitful. All of the employees at the hotel were very polite and helpful; besides that, I believe that the servers around the pool and at the beach were too overwhelmingly aggressive 75% of the time with offering drinks and or food. I was unable to really RELAX and enjoy my time with my daughter without someone always there trying to spark up conversation aside from there work duties. I hate to use this word but I felt kind of baggered most of the time. There was always one of the guys on duty over extending conversation with me and or my daughter and there was no concept of space and time for them to keep it moving. I believe because it was just my daughter and I, and I was not accompanied by a male that they felt I could be approached more often than usually. This should be addressed and corrected by management. I spent about $300 on tipping which is a lot. It also felt like I had to tip everyone at all times. Because of this I kinda do did not enjoy myself like i wanted. I shouldn’t feel like a sense of obligation to tip without it being earned. I was turned off about this and wouldn’t consider returning to this resort. I cant even call this a spectacular vacation base on tipping factor being overly emphasized. Even the tour guides, went out of their way to mention to save some of the tips for them when going out on an excursion. I really do understand that the employees are mostly working for tips and the importance of tipping at an all inclusive, but during a vacation this should be one of the last things to worry about. There were too many of them and it seemed like husseling for their tip was more important than the importance of customer service and accommodation of guest comfort. I was unable to relax at the beach because there was either a beach peddler hounding us to buy something or a waiter coming around to try to have an extensive conversation on top of asking if we needed anything. Keep in mind this is occurring at least 10 to 15 times per day, which was getting overwhelming with the repeating of NO THANK YOU, NO THANK YOU... Of course I am not the type of person to be unpleasant, rude and dismissive, so I felt like I had to deal with it. Now going back and re assessing my experience I feel like I should have been a bit more dissimive because I sacrificed a lot of my relaxing and bonding time with my daughter. I strongly believe that when you are paying for a vacation it is to have this time to relax and occasionally enjoy having someone at the resort offer to attend your needs. This factore is not one of the things people should be worrying about before leaving your room to go onto the premises. Is it just me? Now the on food, restaurants and entertainment. I was not able to get to all the restuarants. The entertainment was amazing though! The resort had something different every night and Buffets were included in the middle of the white sands and blue waters resort with a different theme/entertainment. The Buffets were very enjoyable, not exceptional but the food was fresh. The restaurants we dinned in were not great at all and a bit under regular. I’ll do a comparison, to maybe give an idea of what my tastebuds were experiencing. - Score Sports Bar - nasty food, it seems they are cooking frozen preserved food or even serving reheated food that was just sitting around. (Should not even exist of this property) - Tex Mex (Armadillo) - a step under Chipotle, and we waited too long for the appetizers and main meal a 45 minute wait after appetizers. (-1 Stars) - Hunter Steakhouse - Services was great, Sort of like an Outback or Applebee’s (maybe 3 Stars) - Zen Japanese Restuarant - Service was great, a step under Benihana's, not even close to non franchise habachi restaurant (mom and pop) that would be 5 stars (2.5 Stars) - Grazies Italian - Service was great, This one was unique, My dish (mix seafood plate in a red spicy sauce) Tasty! (3 Stars) - Diamond Club Grill & Bar - Service was great, unique, food came out fresh, on a timely manner, drinks were great (4 Stars) This resort is more for groups and or couples. For a teenager and mom, its too big. I wouldn’t go back...
