Royal West Indies - Turks and Caicos Lush
JUDY S.
Feb 12 2018
The Hotel is surrounded by Sunshine and lush greenery. There are Palm trees at least 4 types, ferns and blooms even in January. The restaurant and bar are VERY pricey as are most restaurants on the island. We, most unusually as I've heard hit a patch of rainy weather that limited our activities. But my husband and I still wandered around Provo with our rented vehicle. The Conch Farm was also closed due to the hurricane last fall. The climate is to die for, absolutely perfect. All of the aches and pains we had from subzero temperatures in Wisconsin were gone. And the ocean is the most gorgeous aqua one has ever seen.

Perfect Getaway

We enjoyed every second of our stay at the Royal West Indies. We stayed in an oceanview studio. It was clean and comfortable and had gorgeous views of the gardens and the ocean. We enjoyed happy hour every evening from 5-7, with all drinks half-priced. The bar would get pretty busy but we always found a place to sit. The beach was amazing! We were there in early August and it was never really busy. The maids did a wonderful job keeping our room clean and supplied with fresh towels. There were bikes, Hobie Cats, paddle boards, and kayaks that could be used for free in 30-minute increments. We loved reading by the "quiet pool." We will definitely go back!

There is very little negative to say about our trip. The value for the money allowed us to do more once there. The hotel staff was great, the whole island was one big welcome committee, everywhere we went people were so gracious. Even the other guest went out of their way to be nice. Not one bad thing happened during the entire visit.I will recommend this place and Apple vacations to everyone. We came for our 40 anniversary and were not disappointed.

The grounds and rooms of the hotel are beautiful. The resort is near the far end of Grace Bay, which meant things were quiet but we had a fair walk to get to other restaurants and shops. I'd recommend plenty of cash for taxis or just renting a car. The taxis charge per-person, so any group of more than two is definitely better off with a car rental. The casino is right next door, and the hotel offers $10 vouchers for $80-worth of drinks and chips at the casino. The service is very laid-back - they are happy to help, but not in a rush. The beach is lovely and the hotel provides beach gear for free.

The hotel was exactly what we had expected. Affordable clean and comfortable. The wifi worked great throughout the facility and the beach was outrageous. Check in and out was quick and overall we found the locals excellent. We never felt unsafe walking not having rented a car. Don't really feel one was necessary. Caicos Dream tours provided a great snorkeling trip

Hotel at Turks & Caicos

The hotel was great and very comfortable. Washer & dryers in rooms and they gave you one load of soap was a big bonus so we could pack much lighter. The food was very good and the hotel was in a perfect location with a great beach compared to the stretch of beach at Grace Bay. The only minor negative was the beach guys were somewhat hesitant to let the kayak and hobie cat out. You have to be very demanding to get them to get it in the water. Probably because most people use it and have no clue how to sail so I could understand their hesitation. Otherwise I would definitely stay there again. It in a perfect location.

We went to Turks & Caicos with high expectations of the Island but were not sure about the hotel. I can gladly say this hotel/resort was ABOVE our expectations! The staff was not only pleasant (Including Mr. Lopez who was very accommodating to all our needs) but the hotel was gorgeous. The pools were well maintained and the beach was breathtaking. I have already recommended 3 family and friends to the resort.

Two things set Royal West Indies apart from the various resorts along the gorgeous Grace Bay beach: affordability and the beautiful grounds. There are no less than four pools on the grounds, one of which is a hot tub with jets. The hot tub and two small pools in the garden courtyard form a designated quiet swimming area for relaxation. The garden is lush and well-kept, with a variety of palm trees and tropical flowers. The additional, larger pool is for loud swimmers, such as kids, and surrounds the restaurant. All the pools are elegantly shaped, with waterfalls and bridges. The rooms and buildings are clean, comfortable, and well kept. Quite a bit of beach equipment is provided for free, though the demand for them is high and the rental desk often runs out. Tours and excursions are fun and reasonably priced. While the hotel restaurant is expensive, other local restaurants and the in-room kitchen provide ways to eat for less. Overall, Royal West Indies provides a luxury experience in T&C for a very reasonable price.

Royal West Indies- WONDEFUL RESORT

Just returned from second stay @ RWI. Really love this resort. Grounds are beautiful and peaceful. Pool is very nice, especially the "quiet pool" with the waterfall. Our one bedroom suite had plenty of room including a full kitchen. Great for breakfast and lunches. Balcony was very spacious with great view of the ocean. As for Pelican Bay Restaurant, love the Happy Hour, 2 for 1 drinks from 5:00PM-7:00PM. The bartenders, Markinson, Y-Jay are great. They both make a mean drink. As far as the waitresses, Lenny was great, just need to get her talking and she can be friendly. As far as Sugar, I agree with Dwayne R, she needs to work on her people skills. Also, pull that hair back instead of letting it hang in the drinks and food. Food was also very good. If your looking for a quiet, relaxing resort, this is it. Can't wait to book again.

Just returned from a 5 day stay was a little unsure what type of service we would receive after reading some reviews. I was so pleased to find EVERYONE was so friendly so helpful and all around pleasant. We were in Residence 3 Suite 331 great view of the ocean and poolside. It wasn’t beachfront but it had a great view from the front and partial view from the side. We had a fully equipped kitchen with everything you could possibly need and Washer and dryer. Suite was nice and very roomy ( just my husband and I) bed was very comfortable and everything was very clean. NEVER any problems getting towels for the beach or the pool never any problems getting a chair on the beach and really can’t stress enough about the friendliness of everyone from housekeeping to poolside guys (I heard so many saying they wouldn’t answer or ignore you or just unpleasant and I can’t imagine it maybe it wasn’t the staff but the visitors attitude,) onsite restaurant has a limited menu but it is very good,be sure to hit up happy hour they have really good drinks. Should you need any type of supplies like sunscreen or lotions or anything get it beforehand they do not have a gift shop or anything to get this,we went to the outpost just a sort drive down the road. I will definitely go back and will stay here again and recommend this resort highly. It is a quieter resort so you have to want relaxation and a beautiful beach. Also some mentioned club med being loud and annoying it didn’t bother us that much at all. Also worth mentioning is they add a 10% service charge on all tickets to disperse to all employees.

A great place for our first TCI trip

Our beachfront room had everything we needed for our first stay at TCI. A large balcony with an ocean view, a comfortable bed, a refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, and washer/dryer. Although not the most modern decor, the furniture was clean and comfortable and in great condition. The AC worked great. We were within walking distance (15 mins) to a grocery store and many restaurants, gift shops, and ice cream shops at Grace Bay. The beach was stunning, with plenty of chairs and towels for guests. The resort grounds were clean and well kept and the pools were great if wanting to avoid the salty ocean. The Pelican Bay restaurant was by far the best value for the money that we found out of the grill/deck resort restaurants in the area. Happy hour is everyday from 5-7 and is 2 for 1 drinks- a great deal. We went to one of the theme nights- surf and turks- and the food was delicious and music was great. For the most part the staff was friendly and helpful. Some less friendly staff but as a tourist I don't expect everyone to be running around with smiles all day. Would stay here again in the future as a base for exploring some more of the restaurants and offerings at Grace Bay.

We stayed end of January 2017 booked last minute so did not have greatest room location no water view but the grounds of this resort are beautifully manicured. The location of this resort is great, close to lots of restaurants and shopping. Pelican bay restaurant and bar was always a great meal and offered happy hour every day. We rented a car and travelled the island picked up groceries. Usually made breakfast in our room picked up pre made salads and went out for dinner. We could hear the music from Club Med in our room at night (not that it bothered us) The island is beautiful the water and beach are amazing. I find the island to be very safe and people extremely friendly

Resort, beach and staff are excellent

My wife and I love coming here - we just came back from our 3rd visit in just over a year, and have booked our 4th visit the end of this year. The Pelican Bay and the resort staff are awesome. They make us feel like we are back at our second home. The price to stay is reasonable, the rooms are very clean, the landscape is beautiful, food is always great - and then there is the beach which wins the prize. But it is our extended family that treat us so well, the staff of Pelican Bay and RWI, that make us repeat visitors.
