This hotel was an amazing experience ! Five stars all the way! Food , rooms, but most importantly the service was amazing. Amazing relaxation and attention from the staff. The food and ambiance was perfect. This isn't a party place , but there was live music and a band that played! Pool and beach are perfect , although chair availability can be an issue. The room was cool, clean, and perfect size . The onsite concierge was amazing and attentive ! I loved everything about this hotel and would recommend to anyone looking for a exquisite , relaxing get away . More>

My husband and I have been to many resorts and the Royal Hideaway Playacar surpasses all of them. Rooms are in small buildings centered around an individual courtyard and each building has a concierge who is there all day to tend to guest needs. Our concierge was Gerardo and he was wonderful and took care of everything we needed including restaurant reservations, confirmed our excursions which we booked privately, and made sure we had everything we needed. There were 6 different restaurants with excellent service. The food was top quality and presented well. Dinner tended to be at least a 2 hour event each night and sometimes longer. The pools were well tended and so was the beach. There was never a problem getting a beach chair with shade and there was always someone to help you with towels and for chair side service for drinks and food. There was room for improvement only in one area which was that they allowed smoking on the outside terraces which were part of the restaurants. I realize that smoking on the beach and by the pool can't be controlled but when guests are dining at a table that's part of a restaurant, I think smoking should not be allowed. That said, we would absolutely return to this resort and hope to do so in the future. More>

Let me start off by saying I'm really picky! With that said, I loved this hotel and will be back. Went last week with my two sisters and good friend; we shared 2 rooms. The Pro's: Beautiful beach, not too crowded like other resorts. It's not eroding and very little seaweed. Very nice spacious, clean rooms, comfy bed, nice large bathroom. Service was great, everyone was super friendly. Food was fantastic with beautiful presentation. Music by the pool was nice (60's, 70's), no loud stuff going on which we found relaxing. There are 6 pools, all spread out and we enjoyed visiting each of them. The large pool overlooks the beach so it's fun for people watching (we actually saw 2 weddings). Grounds are very clean, high tea was fun, live music in the restaurants was very nice. Information you need to know: Make reservations for the restaurants for every night when you get there (no one told us, and we didn't find out until we arrived without a reservation...oops!), your concierge can do this. There is not much night life but go into town....lots going on there ($10, 10 minute cab ride). We found the spa prices very expensive. More>

Returned a few days ago from a exceptional 7 night visit to the RH. It's situated on one of the nicest beaches anywhere; ultra wide powder white sand with crystal blue calm waters. Highlights include: *Service beyond compare, literally the finest service without fail throughout the resort. The employees do all they can to anticipate your desires not simply react to requests. For example, at Spices on our 1st morning our breakfast waiter overheard us talking about the green veggie drinks we make at home, within moments he appeared with two freshly juiced green veggie drinks. Touches like this are common at the RH, our personal concierge, William, could not do enough to be sure we were completely satisfied. The entire team at RH is so exceptional it's a tribute to the management who has established this culture of excellence. *High quality at all dining venues. No cheap ingredients or sub par meats / cheeses at the RH. Quality cuts of beef and fish prevail as entrees. Correspondingly, the fruits and vegetables were fresh and delicious. We dislike buffets, fortunately they are few and far between at the RH. There is a buffet option for breakfast and it was excellent, constantly monitored, refreshed and very sanitary. Las Ventanas is equivalent to the finest restaurants we frequent when we venture to the "Island" (Palm Beach.) Other dining venues are very good, if not stellar, yet the standard for service prevails. Note that you'll find very good sushi at the Japanese venue; we'd stop there for a pre-dinner appetizer on several evenings. * Very comfortable room, bed and furnishings. Our room was meticulously maintained and cleaned. While we had no view to speak of, villa 31 was very desireable as it is steps from the main pools and beach. Be aware that the room did show some signs age / wear, nothing to cause concern.... Apparently all of the rooms are to undergo a complete upgrade this year. *The grounds and multiple pools are beautiful and perfectly maintained. For peace and quiet we often found ourselves alone at one of the smaller pools that dot the property. Also, huge complements to the management and staff for handling a large wedding with zero impact or neglect to us as "regular" guests. This wedding coincided with our stay yet the RH planned so meticulously such that those guests were at different restaurants while at the resort. It was delightful to watch the large dance floor & tent erected on the beach such that there was zero disruption ... recall the beach is HUGE so 90% remained untouched. -The staff provides no visible preference to guests who tip nor do they linger with expectation. However, we arrived prepared with extra cash and tipped with pleasure as so many of the employees are deserving. - The RH is just a short walk from town by beach or road and only a few minutes by taxi. Minor points: The spa is not much to brag about. It's small and my wife's "deep tissue" massage was anything but. Apparently the MT was inexperienced. The Gym is very small with only one elliptical and no space for floor exercises or stretching. While top shelf liquor is available / visible at all venues, the bar, notably the pool bar, with use the cheap stuff unless instructed otherwise. Management should shut down the Allegria Bar until you can eliminate the odor. Each and every guest has noted this; the smell is not tolerable so the venue is useless. Finally, and a huge positive as far as I'm concerned, if you're looking for a party crowd this is not the resort for you. While there is some entertainment after dinner it's not much. Thanks to all of the RH management and staff with special compliments to William, our Concierge, as well as Alice Light the guest experience manager. More>
