Beautiful views and delicious foods!

Found this all inclusive resort by chance - spent 4 nights here back in Fall of 2016. We loved it. Got picked up in a private car from the Cancun airport that took us straight to the resort (and on departure drove us back to the airport). You get a personal butler who already made us nightly dinner reservations at the various restaurants on the resort. Every meal we had here was amazing and delicious, compared to other resorts we've been to. Everything was prepared fresh and made to order. The beach was private and not crowded. Bc this is an adult only resort - no children running around. The pools and beach areas were quiet and relaxing. Many options for lounging - by the pool and on the beach, shaded and not shaded. The rooms were large and comfortable. Very clean and made up daily with a nightly turn down service. Often we walked into the room to fresh fruit or champagne or a nice note from our butler. Overall, it was a wonderful relaxing stay. Would definitely come again.

The RH has been our go to place for 15 years on the Mayan Riviera. This was our 1st time since it has been bought out by the Barceló group. The food and service is still the best part of the property. My concierge Joanna was amazing. My wife and I were celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary and I splurged for the best room on the property, The Presidential Suite. I would give it a 8 out of 10. It needs to be more glamorous. Its very vanilla and has no décor. The outdoor tub was fun. They haven't upgraded any of the facilities other than a few pieces of workout equipment in the gym. I would recommend this location to anyone wanting a safe bet. This will be our last visit as I will move on to newer properties with more to offer.

Tranquility at the beach

This is an all inclusive hotel (more on that). The greatest feature was its subdued nature and tranquility - no drunk spring-breakers and chest pounding music. It is the perfect getaway to relax. The beach is not crowded as at the many mega-hotels in Cancun. Beautiful beach. Nice little gym and spa. It is a hideaway, and we found we really liked that (but we are not in the 20-35 year old age bracket). Now the downside. Like every other all-inclusive, they make it a real challenge to get reservations at their specialty/signature restaurants, which if you got in, had excellent food. We were on a work related team, and many colleagues ate the same mediocre food at the main beachside "steak" restaurant. Trying to get reservations really takes away from the experience, and I almost rated it as 3 stars for just that reason. If they give you a reservation, they mess with the time... who wants dinner at 9pm? The Asian restaurant is the best - especially when you sit at the regular tables (not tepanyaki). The Italian follows. The signature restaurant was not as good considering the hype; just OK. Most people don't realize that above the main dining at the beach is another restaurant that also serves lunch, and it is simply excellent. The one thing I have come to hate at the beaches in Mexico (and other South American resorts) is the constant use of motorized boats (jet skiis, dive boats, parasailing boats) which just skirt the swim zones. They are noisy, annoying, and you can smell the petrol fumes. All in all, a little gem on the beaches of Cancun for a nice, relaxing beach vacation. Also close enough to the ferry to Cozumel.

Royal Hideaway Playacar was our first experience with an all-inclusive resort and also our first time being in Mexico for more than a 'cruise ship stop.' We cannot say enough wonderful things about the property. We're already counting on another visit to the same resort in 2018. It was so relaxing and peaceful! Juan Carlos (bell boy) was amazing and accommodating to get all our taxis ordered and was always our friendly greeter when we returned to the resort. Ruben Guzman gave us a special treat for our dessert our last night at dinner (4/16) at The Grill, even though he was not our waiter (he knew of our 30th anniversary celebration). Christian (our concierge in Bungalow 29) greeted us on our first day (4/13) and was most helpful with confirming/rearranging all our dinner reservations. He did an amazing job in making our room so beautiful on Saturday evening when we arrived after dinner ... rose petals everywhere, balloons, champagne … in celebration of our 30th anniversary! SIX STARS to Royal Hideway and their wonderful staff!
