To put it simply, you could not pay me to stay at this resort again. I hope you all heed this review so you never have to waste money here. We have stayed at 7 different all-inclusive resorts and this is not even in the same league as any of the others. Check-in – The woman was not attentive and seemed dismissive of us. She spoke almost no English so we had to communicate using my broken Spanish. When we asked her a question she would just point to the map instead of trying to explain or answer our question. I’m not expecting a butler and people to be at my beckoned call but a smile and some effort would have gone a long way. There is a safe in the room but you must pay for it and they say that if anything goes missing, they are not responsible if you did not pay for/use the safe. They say there is free Wi-Fi in the lobby but it is spotty at best. If you want Wi-Fi in your room you have to pay for it – don’t waste your money, it will not work. Room - When we arrived at the room there were no waters, the fridge was empty, there were ants all over the bathroom and the bed sheets and pillow cases looked like they spent some rough years in a Hostel. It was disgusting. I have never stayed at an all-inclusive where you have to call and ask for waters. Every other resort provides alcohol in the room and at the very least, unlimited water. Not them. We also discovered that when we went to shower they had forgot to give us shampoo and conditioner. There were also none of the extras that we have come to expect at all inclusives – body lotion, vanity kits, etc. As our stay went on, the maid did come every day and did a decent job of cleaning but again, kept forgetting water and conditioner. There was one day that she had left a dirty, wet pillow case on the nightstand which was covered with some unknown brown substance. It was gross. Food and beverage – All breakfast and lunch is done buffet style. The food is barely edible. The meat has the consistency of a hockey puck and I wouldn’t feed it to my dogs. Dinner was surprisingly good. You need to make reservations at individual restaurants and each one was very good. You cannot make a reservation on your first day so we had to suffer through a buffet dinner. Throughout the meals, expect to share your salad bars with the many varieties of birds who decide to frequent the area. They make themselves at home and eat off of the buffet plates. The drinks are not up to par. One night, my girlfriend was incredibly sick (probably from the food) and at brunch the next day, I asked if I could have a glass of Ginger Ale from a server standing next to the soda machine. Instead of simply putting a cup under the soda fountain and filling it up, she said that we could come back at 12:00pm to get it and she would not serve it before. The hard alcohol is bottom of the barrel and they do not offer anything higher. The wine is bitter and made me smart while sipping it. The bartenders were extremely nice and were really the only people at the resort who put in any effort. Pool – The pools were pretty but that’s the end of the positives. When the resort isn’t filled they rent out the rooms to the locals for very cheap prices. The pools were flooded with locals and their kids (who have little supervision and love to splash strangers). I enjoy mingling with the locals but I like to do that on my own time. I don’t want to be swarmed by 7 year olds splashing me and shooting water guns while I’m on vacation. Overall – Terrible. If someone came up to me today and offered me money to stay there I would tell them to keep the money. If zero stars were an option that would be the rating.

Farallon Decameron resort in the rainy season

Once we arrived in Farallon after a 2+ hr. drive from Panama City it felt good to get a cold Cerveca and cozy up to the pool. The beach was closed for half of our stay due to rip-currents and the regular Thunder and Lightning storms closed down the water sports from 2 - 3 pm. But it cooled down the rest of the day. The resort seemed to cater to younger families and a younger crowd.so expect some loud salsa music poolside. Driving on poor roads with poor road signage was challenging. We enjoyed two day trips to El Valle about an hour drive from Decameron. And even attempted a trip for a coffee plantation tour in Santa Fe about a 4 hr. drive. It was cut short due to heavy rain and some flooding.

Never Again!!! Never!!

Hope I can get all I have to say here and I'll keep it polite as I did when I was there. As "PescaArenosa" mentioned "is the same" and about the electrical issues I will add some to his/hers later. My wife and I decided last minute to add this Resort to our already short visit to Panama (10 days) having already booked a city destination for all our stay we still booked 3 nights at Royal Decameron. Starting with our arrival, we had to go to Lobby 3. There a person will take your reservation details and make sure you had pay already (now I know why) even though there were more people behind the 2 big counters. After a short wait to check-in (3pm) we received our room (2005)which was located between Lobby 1 and 2. At this point we decided to find the building and room to drop my suitcases on the nearest lobby which end up being Lobby 2. No one ever asked us if we had any suite case or while we walked with them if we need it help! but we got asked if we wanted to buy a vacation plan! After that we rapidly move to a snack restaurant close by to notice the same menu running for over a decade but we were hungry! soon after we jump on the pool next to this restaurant to refresh ourselves for a while before dinner. Returned to our room and unpacked to get settled for the 3 night ahead!. We had reservations for a "a la Carte" restaurant that night in the "Panamai" which serve Italian style food!. As usual, we always visit the buffet restaurants to compare their meals and against the reservation. The Atlantis buffet was close so we had only the Pacifiko to visit, in our way there because of our location we most pass through the Atlantis; just a few steps before getting through something passed in front of us that came from the kitchen!!, my wife said to me: "Please tell me that is a crab!!!" and I said: "Unfortunately not my dear, at least no one is eating here today!". Once at the Pacifiko we decided to grab a small appetizer before the Panamai, once we found an empty table we got asked what we wanted to drink and got it few minutes later but never asked if we wanted more. Later at the Panamai, we noticed: Salad was buffet style, entry or appetizer too, main course a la carte was good taste but not even warm and desert was also buffet style!. Being next to the "show" while eating we discover the same pattern for it and decided to go back to the room and rest for the night. This rest was interrupted when electricity went off around 4:30 am. 3 hours later and still no power we did go for breakfast not without commenting about the places that were closed and we guess it was the lack of power, found something to breakfast and moved to the beach where it was sad to see the original "bohio" made with palm tree leaves being replace with fake (plastic) one... environmental friendly I guessed!. Lunch time!!! hey!! not great variety but eatable... at the Pacifiko! Now, before I pass to the end of my review (The real part) I have to make clear that as we moved around the premises we asked about the power failure and always got the same answer: " We had a small problem but we are working hard to solve it " so after lunch we had to return back to our room as weather was not great to stay on the beach. It was raining!! After a good nap! waked up around 4:30pm to a darker room due to no electricity.. rushed to the pool to change our wet towels for "tickets". in my way back I asked again to 2 members of the main staff, easy to spot by the way are dressed!!, as they were walking my way: "Excuse me, do you know when will the power will be restored?", they look to each other and one decided to give me the following answer: "We had a little problem which are working hard to solve to restore but we don't know when it will be restore", and here comes the kicker, "...If you want!! you may go to Lobby 1 so we can relocate you in another area of the resort that does have power!!" and I said: "Really!!!, almost at five!! thanks" I kept walking to our room to explain my wife the events and take a decision. After a short time into an even darker room we reach our cellphones for light packed our suite cases and walked to Lobby 2 to check out from this "Madness". So here is the review: Rooms: Fairly clean, bedding had better days or maybe they had problems to clean them better due to electrical issues. AC works fine, when you have power!!!. Save box is extra per night, no deposit no returns. Restaurants: Food arrangement is clean and functional variety not much. Taste was just ok, could be better I mean it was better before!!. Be ready to carry your own sugar, salt and pepper... they do have they just take to long to bring it to you!!… yes they were not at the tables!!! Restaurant Service: Please!!! what was the contest to remove the plates from the tables!!! how come no one saw the empty glasses and said anything or pick them up!. "Sir may remove your plate!!???" but never "Sir do you want more water, something else to drink, more wine sir?.. unbelievable. What about a smile, Panamanians are well know for being funny happy people... who did this to the staff! Guest Service: Used to be good! don't understand why so much difference. Remember the word: "SERVICE". I don't know if when you guys receive other guests from Canada you treat then like this or you have reduced staff members but if we don't feel welcomed and we do not receive proper assistance we just want to leave ASAP. Management: Lack of interest for the guest! Guest mobilization within amenities shouldn't be where other guest are walking unless they have enough space for both. It is not funny to jump on the grass wet or dry to let a vehicle pass with staff, food or just other guests specially if you are aware you're not oblige to pick your pet droppings. Yes, there are several free wild harmless dogs on premises and actually more friendly that some of the staff. After more than 12 hours of electricity, no guest should be asking what we are going to do!!?? You should it put a note under our doors with instructions to pick our new room keys in our nearest Lobby and have our luggage moved for us. Situations may arise everywhere out of your control, you just need to be prepare to face them promptly and efficiently. Running out of power in some countries is not a common thing but you should be prepared to raise to the occasion with your own power plant or at least a backup power plant. What will you do with your resort at 90% capacity and 40% of it runs out of power. You can't relocate everyone. Also, as there are staff member to offer vacation plans, this resource could also be use to reach guests and inform them about the "relocation" process for their convenience. Final note: Most booking sites will indicate a star value within 3.5 to 4. This value should be really just 3. I visited other 3 and 4 starts places and they are way better than this. It is just too bad this nice place is not nicer as before!

A all inclusive hotel with lots of pools average buffets and at least one good seafood restaurant. (The Canal) Rooms clean and fairly well maintained. New AC units in rooms were great when it was working which was about half the time. Apparently there is a problem with the electrical circuits as the units may run fine for several hours and then will shut down and have to be manually reset several times before they will operate again. This is really annoying to wake up at 2 A.M. in a hot muggy room.
