the hotel needs updating but that did not bother us, the staff was very friendly and helpful all throughout our stay.

The only con about this hotel was the bugs in the room. I saw about 5 total, but the staff came right always to kill the bugs for me! The entertainment staff was amazing!

A few suggestions and comments on a great experience!

It would be appreciated if the 'no smoking' signs were enforced. Loved the resort and staff were over the top nice to us, every person we made contact with was great. Wish the pool and hot tub would have the option to be open later. I don't want to use the hot tub in the day time but it was closed at night when it was cool enough to get in! I would highly recommend this resort and look forward to coming back.

Thoroughly enjoyed!

Everything is fabulous when you go somewhere that is familiar, you are treated with kindness and everyone works to make your stay wonderful! The staff is friendly and take care of everyting. The resort is clean, comfortable, not too big to get lost or overwhelmed. Having to pay for wifi would be my only critique!

Good not great!

I loved a lot of things about this hotel! Service and food left something to be desired. The people were nice and friendly. Entertainment was great! Hotel was clean and beaches were lovely. Excursions were easy to schedule. Room was cleaned well each day. Getting beach towels and renting snorkel gear was irritating as you had to have a card or some such nonsense. Could only get snorkel gear 30 minutes at a time... Weird... Overall the good definitely outweighed the bad. I had a great time and drank the best strawberry daiquiri I've ever had. Lifeguards were very friendly and enjoyable to talk to. Wait staff was always on top of things and were very friendly.

Our favorite

We have stayed at this hotel several times while in Jamaica. It is our favorite. Small enough you don't have crowds to deal with and every room has a beautiful view of the ocean. The staff is always very courteous and the hotel is maintained very well. This is one of the oldest resorts on the island and is so close to the airport it takes just minutes to get their upon landing. Always greeted with a smile and a drink. Would recommend this to any one wanting a quiet, restful vacation.

Hotel needs new beds and pillows. Pillows are hard as rocks. Food is good, had to wait additional time for restaurants to open.

Great hotel for the price, we would go back in a heartbeat.

If you are looking for a great place to relax, this is it. If you are looking to do it in the lap of luxury it isn't. Don't get me wrong, it was nice and the service and food were great, but it was not five star. We loved that it was a five minute ride from the airport. The public areas were nicer than the rooms, but everything was slightly dated. The beds and pillows left a lot to be desired but the air conditioner was great. The bartenders and entertainment staff were super friendly and always willing to help. Drinks were local well brands and Red Stripe beer. other guests were laid back and just looking for a good time, not trying to impress. Make reservations every morning for the Jamaican fusion restaurant for dinner. It is awesome and the way to go for dinner, especially the steak and mashed potatoes. The buffet was great for breakfast, made to order omelets, waffles, and French toast and much more. Lunch was good, and dinner was ok. The snack bar was very good, but I wish the hours were longer. The bread everywhere was wonderful. The pools were small, but there was always more than enough chairs to go around. Same for the beach, no fighting over chairs like at some other all inclusives I've been to. It's nice that the hotel is on the hip strip, but if you go out be prepared to be hounded right away and for the entire time. They have nightly buses to and from Margaritaville and Pier One if that's your thing. Looking forward to going back.

Good service overall...

I talk to the Apple Vacations rep at the hotel every time I go to Royal Decameron, but I never get the information under my door the day before, for shuttle pick-up time to return to the airport. And, the shuttle never comes, so we have to get the concierge at the hotel to call a taxi to take us to the airport.

Surprise 40th Birthday weekend

I surprised my husband for his 40th birthday with an impromptu trip to Jamaica. I was pleasantly surprised with the Royal Decameron. This was the perfect place to celebrate. It is 5 mins away from the airport and there were plenty of activities and entertainment at the resort. The staff was kind and courteous. We had a perfect view of the water and the pool area. I would definitely recommend staying here and we will hopefully be back soon.

Almost perfect

The location of the hotel, very near the airport and in front of the sea make it excellent. The staff are very friendly, except for the cleaning lady, who gave us water in our room the first three days and then never again, despite our recurrent complaints. The food is good, with a variety of choices. But the quality could be improved. For example the chicken offered is always the worst pieces, with practically no meat. In general, for a 3-Star Hotel, the Montego Bay Decameron Beach is a very good hotel, which I would visit again and recommend.

My boyfriend and I stayed here for a week vacation in July. We had to pay to have a fridge and safe in our room, rediculous for the price we pay. The wifi is not free, there was charges for that too. So much for an all inclusive hotel. The hotel was fairly small, we often came across the same people. The drinks are great however the service at the bar is often slow. One morning my boyfriend went to order a coffee at the bar in the hotel near the reception. There was a working cleaning the counters yet it took her 15 minutes to finally tell my boyfriend that the bar was closed. The food is great, there is a variety of choices. However, the cooks were understaffed and often there were empty pots of food and we had to wait to have it replaced. The waitress' offered a good service however often there was either missing glasses or missing spoons on the table for desserts. We have to go get our own utensils & glasses at times. The beach is small but atleast we had access at the neighbour hotel which was a walk distance and a lot larger. When going out of the ressort be aware that the people in Jamaica are harassing and have no such thing as personal space. We went shopping for souvenirs in a store right in front of the hotel and there was the owner from the store next door who waited an hour in front of the store entrance waiting for us to come out so she can bring us tout her store even after numerous times of me telling her no thank you. Jamaicans do not take no for an answer. Something that really bothered me was that every day there are different men standing in the ocean (not hotel workers) and every person who walked beside they would call you over and ask you if you wanted some type of drugs. I overall enjoyed the vacation, it was a pleasant experience. Shoutout to VIP the entertainement guy and the small receptionist with short curly hair. You guys made ours vacation memorable. I would recommend this hotel if you dont really care about the service. We had friends who was at the hotel right beside (royal decameron Cornwall beach resort) and who has also been at the royal decameron beach ressort and said that the service is a lot better and the staff is more caring. If I ever do come back to jamaica, I wouldnt stay this hotel but most probably are the Cornwall beach.

We were there the second day when a member of our group had money stollen from her luggage. The luggage was gone through and the money was found. The people we talked to that worked at the hotel acted as if it was her fault. Even though you should be precautious, there should not be anyone in your room at 10:30 at night when you are not there. They don’t use cards for entry, but keys, so there is no way you can know if someone went into the room or not. There are no cameras either but they tried to convince me that no one went into the room. HOW DO YOU KNOW!!!!
