Excellent Vacation!

This hotel doesn't have the best ratings but it should! The staff is amazing, the food was fantastic and the entertainment was great! It is a small resort so you don't have to walk forever to get from pool to pool or restaurant to restaurant. It is located on the Hip Strip which is a plus for us! We enjoyed getting out daily and walking up and down the strip and souvenir shopping! The beaches were small but nice and clean! We walked out of our room and onto the beach and we enjoyed snorkeling daily.

Great staff but some cons

The staff was super helpful and friendly and really completed our trip. However, there were a few issues. The restaurant that you were supposed to make reservations for was closed for our entire stay when it was supposed to only be closed Monday and Saturday, then the one day it was open, I tried to make reservations at 9 am and it was full. Reservations had to be made same day. Also, the water in the shower was awful, kept turning off and then it wouldn’t work on hot making showers pretty unpleasant. The place was a dead zone after 9:30 and the disco bar didn’t even stay open long enough like it was supposed to. Also, when booking through Apple excursions or Amstar the Dolphin Cove excursion was 2 hours off and I was never going to be picked up if not for me running into an employee and asking. I was going to have to take a cab to something I already spent 300 dollars on. I was also never told how to go about my departure time and then being 5 minutes from the airport had to go to the airport 3 hours early, making me miss the massage I booked for the morning of the trip. Lastly, there wasn’t an atm on the resort making it difficult to obtain cash and it felt unsafe. I wouldn’t come here again, at least not booking through Apple.

The only con about this hotel was the bugs in the room. I saw about 5 total, but the staff came right always to kill the bugs for me! The entertainment staff was amazing!

It would be appreciated if the 'no smoking' signs were enforced. Loved the resort and staff were over the top nice to us, every person we made contact with was great. Wish the pool and hot tub would have the option to be open later. I don't want to use the hot tub in the day time but it was closed at night when it was cool enough to get in! I would highly recommend this resort and look forward to coming back.

Everything is fabulous when you go somewhere that is familiar, you are treated with kindness and everyone works to make your stay wonderful! The staff is friendly and take care of everyting. The resort is clean, comfortable, not too big to get lost or overwhelmed. Having to pay for wifi would be my only critique!

I loved a lot of things about this hotel! Service and food left something to be desired. The people were nice and friendly. Entertainment was great! Hotel was clean and beaches were lovely. Excursions were easy to schedule. Room was cleaned well each day. Getting beach towels and renting snorkel gear was irritating as you had to have a card or some such nonsense. Could only get snorkel gear 30 minutes at a time... Weird... Overall the good definitely outweighed the bad. I had a great time and drank the best strawberry daiquiri I've ever had. Lifeguards were very friendly and enjoyable to talk to. Wait staff was always on top of things and were very friendly.

We have stayed at this hotel several times while in Jamaica. It is our favorite. Small enough you don't have crowds to deal with and every room has a beautiful view of the ocean. The staff is always very courteous and the hotel is maintained very well. This is one of the oldest resorts on the island and is so close to the airport it takes just minutes to get their upon landing. Always greeted with a smile and a drink. Would recommend this to any one wanting a quiet, restful vacation.

Visited Royal Decameron on March this year. Rooms very clean ,staff very friendly, delicious food. Wasn't very busy and we loved that. Amazing beaches and access to Doctor's Cave beach- don't need to pay. Unfortunately Wi-Fi not free, but on the beach, balcony or next to the pool you will catch free Wi-Fi!!!!

Excellent service

Food was delicious with lots of variety. The service was great. Everyone so kind and helpful. There was only one thing that was odd to us. The jacuzzi closes at 5pm. Needless to say it was always empty. Who wants to sit in a jacuzzi in the sweltering heat?

My wife’s birthday present ...

... given as a Christmas present! See what l did there? All inclusive, but not a problem - had been warned to get to meals early or face being left with very little choice, but it proved not to be an issue. All food was tasty, varied and well-cooked. Restaurant staff who served us were extremely personable and friendly. Similarly, with the bar staff and Receptionists; Entertainment staff, exceptionally so. The room (on the 2nd Floor, overlooking the beach and sea, through the palm trees) was spacious and clean. Close proximity to shops, etc. was handy, but for a more authentic experience, engage with locals and get away from the ‘Hip Strip’ favoured by cruise ship passengers. Tours are arranged from within the hotel: we went on the Duns River Falls (including a visit to Bob Marley’s birth/burial place) experience - the scenery was spectacular and the day thoroughly enjoyable! And one of the Entertainment staff took us up the mountain to his church on my wife’s birhday - now that was an experience, especially when the congregation sang ‘Happy Birthday’ to her. Actually preferred this hotel to the more modern one next door and you tend to get used to the extremely loud French Canadians; the aircraft approaching the airport around the bay/out of sight are not a problem (even the Reggae-blasting catamarans pass by quickly). Loved the country and especially the people.

Very clean, but food was disappointing

The hotel is nicely situated near to the airport and you can hear the planes taking off and see the planes coming in for landing. That was very exciting, especially for my 7 year old. The staff at the front are very friendly, they seem happy to be at work, the staff in the dining room seem tired and overworked, they didn't smile, nor were the friendly. Rain fell the night we stayed, the night time entertainment is outdoors so all the seats were wet and there was nowhere to sit. After about 1/2 hour of standing and watching the band we decided to just go to bed. There was not much else to do. The beaches and pools are clean, but small. The food lacked variety and in most cases seemed to be burned, both the buffet and the grill bar. I enjoyed the grounds and the scenery, but I don't think I would go back there.

5 Days at Montego Beach

I booked my trip from March 14-19 with my niece. We stayed in a room on the ground level with ocean view. Hotel-The resort is small, everything is in walking distance which is nice. Everything is laid out, there is no way you can get lost. Drinks-The drinks were proportionally mixed and tasted good. I wish there was an option for premium drinks but it was nothing to complain about. Pool-There are two pools that are fairly small. The main pool with the pool bar was very dirty, lots of oils and lotions that settled at the top. I supposed this cannot be avoided when everyone is lathering on sunscreen. Entertainment-Guest/employee interaction was acceptable. There were scheduled games throughout the day. Night entertainment was good. Disco was okay. We utilized the free shuttle bus service to Margaritaville on Thursday and Saturday night - lots of fun. I didn't see a lot of kids, mind you the time of year I visited may have been a factor. Employees-Very friendly, I honestly haven't experienced employees so genuine in all of my trips to resorts in Jamaica. Shout out to SKITTLES, KEVIN and T (the bartender) <3. Food-The food was average. As someone from Jamaican decent there were a few items that I wish were available. The buffet is small but the food rotation is good. The food at the grill is also good. No complaints. Weather-Sunny and clear for the whole 5 days with the exception of one night where it rained from approx. 2 hrs. Room-Two beds, very comfortable, shower worked - the temperature did fluctuate slightly but not too bad. The pressure fluctuated a bit too but never shut off like I've read in other posts... The AC worked just fine, wasn't loud - we turned it up it was way too cold. We had a fridge which was used, TV with cable. No issues. My One Complaint: As mentioned, my room was on the ground floor. I am not sure who the guests were above my room but they were constantly stomping their feet on the ground all day long. STOMP STOMP STOMP...The sound was amplified and it woke me up EVERYDAY at 5 AM!! I paid well over $3000 CAD to be there for the 5 days and I was not impressed with being woken up that early - especially after a night of drinking. Subsequently they would STOMP around 8 AM, 5 PM-7 PM and around 10 PM. I knew their entire routine. I called the front desk 3 times and spoke to 3 different people who addressed the situation. I was told security would handle it but I'm not sure how thorough they were because a few hours later it would go back to STOMP STOMP STOMP... back and forth, back and forth. I used a lot of self control over those 5 days to not go up and bang down their door. If my stay was longer I would have requested to change rooms in a heartbeat. Please be cautious when booking on the ground floor. I was told noise request are generally not received so I may have just been very unlucky. Other than that my stay was great. Looking forward to visiting Jamaica again in the near future!
