Don't get me wrong ... we love the resort. We have been there 5 times but this most recent visit we saw a decline in the entertainment and food. The buffet had theme nights but only one or two items would change. The bar help made the vacation a great success.

There is no other place where you can have your own little cottage on the beach for this price. Location was surreal. Food was so good, drinks were great. I am already planning on returning!

It is a 3 star location, that being said, the cottage had a faulty hot water heater that kept tripping the breaker and leaving us with cold water showers. It took the hotel 6 nights before they would move us to another room, seems they thought that we didn't know how to regulate the water temperature. HOWEVER, the rest of the staffing, bar tenders, wait staff, cooks, maintenance guys, were tops, very polite and helpful.

Food was cool to cold at the buffet. The only hot food you received was when it was served by the chefs at separate carving stations. Liquor at the bar was not any brands I had ever heard of. They used to serve Jack Daniels and Jim Beam but that was nowhere to be found. A lot of construction was going on and I was not told that a snack restaurant had been moved to an upper level location. Another guest told me. The hotel is ok but they need to improve the food and also the liquor selection

Did not get room we requested. Had to wait 2 1/2 hours for room. Room was 1960 style no coffee pot no fridge and they only give you one bottle of water which you have to go refill at the bar. Very noisy and smell of sewer. When it rained which was often you had no cover on your patio. No smoking except designated areas.

We loved our ocean view cottage. The food is amazing and the staff are so sweet. This resort is basic but in the right way, it has all of the stuff you need. Great quiet pool and the beach areas were wonderful. We will be returning next year for sure.

3 Star Rating With 5 Star Service

My wife and I loved every aspect of this all inclusive property. The view was 5 star, the service was 5 star and the food and drinks were very good. Maid service was 5 star. This property is beautiful and very well kept. We had a one room suite. It had a separate bedroom which is perfect especially when travelling with kids. This was a very unique experience as 90 percent of the rooms were individual units with air conditioning and many with ocean and garden views. I would highly recommend this property. Again, the rating for this property is 3 star but I would give it 5 star for service.

We have never encountered the high quality of staff anywhere else. You feel more like an extended part of their family and not just another guest. Next trip we become official "Jamericans".

RDCC was a wonderful experience. the room was perfect, the service was exceptional, food & entertainment very, very good. RDMB was a very disorganized mess. the staff at check in was completely overwhelmed due to a Jamaican holiday. there were no managers to be found to help rectify the situation. the food & entertainment staff were definitely subpar also. we stayed at this property last year at this time & it has definitely gone downhill.

Arrival/ Reception- we were greeted with a refreshing fruit punch and was informed to leave our luggage whilst we checked in. This was very simple and then we were escorted to our cabin. All in all I think the whole process took 15 minutes. The staff were very friendly but when I went back to get the safe key I was informed they had no change for my $20 bill and was sent to the shop who also had no change. Later in the week I tried to book the jasmine A La Carte restaurant but was informed that the system was down so no reservations could be taken. (I was baffled why there was not another system in place for these events!). Cabins- Our cabin was situated by the quiet pool in the garden area. Yes the rooms are dated but very spacious and clean. Be mindful that they do use bleach on the floors as my husband found out after leaving his shorts on the floor in the bathroom. There is plenty of storage space for your clothing and cases The rooms are equipped with air conditioning as well as a ceiling fan, safety deposit box, a hair dryer, iron and ironing board. We were given a fresh large bottle of water each day and the room was cleaned daily. Our cabin was near the night club and whilst you could hear the music outside it was not as bad when in the cabin with the bathroom and closet doors closed. It did not wake us or stop us going to sleep. Resort/Facilities- There are plenty of sun loungers throughout the resort though there are not a lot of umbrellas to go with these. The beaches are kept cleaned and the sea weed removed daily. There is seaweed in the sea but coming from Cornwall this did not bother us. The main beach is not too bad but there is sea grass which makes it appear worse. There are 2 pools the quiet pool is adults only and very nice. The other pool can get quite noisy with the entertainment going on next to it, children and Adults playing. There are plenty of activities you can engage in on the resort. Food/ Drink-There is plenty of choice each day but often it was very much the same. We were here for a week and was unable to book the A La Carte so ate in the buffet restaurant each night. There is plenty of meat dishes to choose from. There were times that the food was warm and others when it was hot. it depended on when you decided to eat. The restaurant staff were amazing and very attentive topping up your drinks regularly. There was a wide variety of drinks on the cocktail menu, soft drinks and wine but I think you could only get red stripe beer. (Apologies if there are others but I never seen any others) Entertainment- This is where I think there is a bit of a down fall. The evening entertainment was good but the same each evening. As I said we stayed for 7 nights and watched the same singing and dance show twice in the 7 days. All the staff work hard to entertain you and are very friendly and interested in you. Pros-There is everything that you need in one place which is beutiful. Cons- same entertainment and no portable ash trays for the tables on the beach and at the tables during the evening when you are watching the entertainment. I will be returning again.

Lovely hotel. The rooms are great, alittle dated but spacious and very clean. Can not comment really on the entertainment as singing and dancers on stage is not our thing. Made us feel like I was at a hot Butlins. Big problem for our party of 4 was lack of diet drinks. First few days they had Diet Coke, but then they appeared to have no fizzy pop, full sugar Pepsi only out of bottles which apparently was flat. We repeatedly requested Diet Coke from all the bars and reception, to no avail. I do not like full sugar drinks period. So for The rest of the holiday we had to drink our drinks with soda of plain water. As we were all inclusive this was an issue. I know it may sound trivial but it’s certainly not what we expected from our all inclusive resort. This is the second time in Jamaica and unfortunately we would not return now.

Amazing holiday!

Just got back from an amazing two weeks stay at the royal Decameron. Where do I start.... firstly greeted by a welcome drink from the very friendly staff at reception then took to our gorgeous hut not far from the beach front in the gardens. Everything at this hotel is amazing from the staff to the entertainment to the accommodation! I would highly recommend this hotel. Would also like to advise that if you are wanting to see raural Jamaica like my self and my partner and another couple we made friends with then there is a local who sits outside the hotel called Banton (Banton tours) who would take you all around this beautiful island for very reasonable prices, we felt sooooooo safe with this guy and he has now became a very very close friend to us all, he took us up the blue mountains and even to Kingston town (which most tourists are scared to go or to even venture outside the Hotel as they think it’s dangerous!) I suppose it can be but if your like us and can’t go Jamaica without seeing Kingston town then Banton is the local that you need to go with as he is so genuine funny and kind and I can honestly say we trust him 100 percent! Banton is well respected from the hotel and everyone around the local area even all the way from the blue mountains to Kingston town everyone knows Banton! We had the most amazing experience thanks to Banton and I can honestly say we love him a great deal and will never forget the kindness and generousity he showed us and how safe he made us feel when we chose to go out with him but most importantly we have a friend for life. Banton tells you the price and does not rip you off as he has a reputation for being genuine and very reasonable ie cheap compared to all the others... I have attached some photos below of our holiday and also a photo of Banton as I can honestly say he made our holiday. If your ever looking for him then just go outside the hotel past the security gate (it’s fine and safe don’t worry!) and ask for Banton and they will point and show you him then Banton will introduce him self to you... honestly trust me your in safe hands!!!

Royal Decameron, Runaway Bay (or Salem for those who are familiar with the area) is a little gem. I was pleasantly surprised once we went past the reception area. On arrival, it does not compare to most of the resorts we stopped at on the way from the airport as the front is dated, but we found the grounds to be well maintained and perfect. We spent a full week in the Garden Cottages and it was a wonderful experience. The cottages are comfortably simple (nothing fancy) but they have all that you need especially when the plan is to spend the entire vacation by the beach or pool. We did not experience the noise as others did in other reviews. Once we closed those cottage doors the music from the club next door faded. I could address everything but for this review I will stick to the lows and highs. Customer Service: Needs some work in many areas. It might be that the staff is young or that this is culture of the place but management needs to spend some time on this aspect which in my opinion is vital for return customers. For example - the deer in headlights look is the wrong position when a question is asked. Numerous bodies behind the front desk and having to wait on one person is a ‘no no’. If I am asking a question (in English) and that question has to be relayed to another person hearing the conversation then that person responds to the person repeating the question, ignoring me is an ‘absolute no no’ (confusing to me too). Krystal, with whom I spoke to on checking out was awesome so there is hope. Some of the personnel around the property were engaging and some only responds when greeted. So let’s work that out immediately and change the culture in all departments. The Food: Lots of it. You will never be hungry. There are three restaurants: Pick A Pepper, Jasmine Delta, and Nyamings and lots of fruits on the property. If you are expecting a party in your mouth for every bite you will be disappointed, however Jamaican Night was pretty good. The Chef who prepared the curry goat needs to cook all the meals (or maybe it’s the same cook and this is their speciality). I expected more flavors and that was missing in most cases. I loved the variety of the buffet at Pick A Pepper. We had lunch at Jasmine Delta and that was ok. This is more of a grilled (baked) snack affair. We did one reservation for Nyamings and the only thing pleasant about that experience was Phillip, our waiter. May I suggest marinades going forward, not asking for pepper, just more garlic and escallion, please and thank you. The Beach: Seaweed in all the beach coves, even with the water shoes I was not brave enough to venture out. That being said, the beaches are cleaned daily and per the informative personnel doing the cleaning, the seaweed only appears a certain time of the year and swimming it is ok to swim. There is an ample amount of beach chairs/cabanas and it is perfect for hanging out all day. Loved every minute of that. For crystal Caribbean waters, Flavors (Cardifhall Free Beach) is about 5 minutes away by taxi. We spent half a day there then came back to the cabana for the other half (lol). The Drinks: All you can drink. I suggest having the long island ice tea or ask for white rum in the other mixed drinks. Overall: We had a wonderful time notwithstanding the lows above. I would return if the customer service improves and food is tastier. This resort has so much potential and could be one of the hotspots in Jamaica especially for the price. The pace is easy and perfect for a relaxing vacation. We did not do any tours with the resort as this trip was primarily for relaxing and a family event at another resort. There is nightly entertainment - that’s all I can say about that. Tipping is expected and we really got tired of it but that’s what one does for services rendered. Big up to the grounds personnel who do an awesome job of maintaining this lovely ocean resort; Pauline in housekeeping, Headly and Shashagye in Pick A Pepper, Phillip in Nyamings, Krystal at the front desk, (Jared) Lucas who works the front and dining area. You made out stay even better. Thank you.

Great Place for a chilled break. Food not bad some days was a bit hit and miss but friendly staff most of the time. Location was amazing right on the Caribean. Sea, Beach and Booze. Expect Rain most days even in dry season but all in a great time had. Rooms decent good size. Amenities in the room poor a fridge and a basic kettle would have been a great addition as we was quite a hike from bars etc for morning cuppa.
