resort a 3 Apple gem, Apple rep & bus service NOT SO GOOD
Feb 19 2019
The hotel is absolutely wonderful. Traveled with a group of 13, some older in their 80's. The Bus ride to the resort was disappointing as we had to stop at some road side shop the driver said so we could get out and stretch our legs. I believe to buy drinks from his friends. Not cool. It was only an hour drive!!! Our Amstar / Apple rep was only onsite the one day when we booked $1300.00 of excursions. Wasn't there to help us when our bus was a not show for the return trip to the airport. But our hotel came thru for us and called for a bus to stop and get us. Our catamaran snorkel & duns river excursion was packed with people. Snorkeling with 140 people is ridiculous. The falls had way too many people on it as well. Crazy packed. Our guide attempted to take us to the top at break neck speed so he could return to do it again with another poor group. We'll be sure to be ask more questions when & IF we ever book an excursion again. We've always booked with Apple, this time is the first time we were disappointed made to almost miss our return home flight. The resort had our group of 13 at the furthest table from the buffet. We spoke with restaurant manager for a closer table. Right away we were moved to a closer table which was reserved for us for every meal! VERY NICE ROYAL DECAMERON!! We'll see you again!!

Not a nice place to visit
Feb 11 2019
We have been at this resort before, and it has noticeably declined. The rooms are nice, a little hut, but very dark and minimalist. The food was appalling after 3 days. Their efforts at theme nights was dismal. All of the food service personnel was bad. We quickly learned to get our own silverware and coffee. We were warned by one of the food service person that they can be fired, but they would disappear for a long time without service to the table. The beverage service is limited to 8 oz glasses unless you bring your own. I ordered rum punch on several occasions and was never served the same thing twice. Drinks are excessively sweet with little alcohol. The staff has a unique ability to blame the guest for anything, instead of taking responsibility. This made our stay quite difficult. Our Apple Vacation rep - Jasmine, from Amstar, was quite late to our first meeting and was of little help anyway. If this had been our first time in Jamaica, I am sure that we would never go back. Something is very wrong about the hospitality at this resort and I think it must have to do with the management. Staff seems quite intimidated and fearful which keeps them from serving the customer. We did dine at one of the restaurants but it was very similar to the regular dining service. The highlight of the food was the bread, which is pretty pathetic. We dreaded going to eat for the last 2 days.

Middle of the road resort needs major updates at Quiet Pool
Oct 30 2018
I have been to this resort a few times. The staff is good but there needs to be major updates in the cottages. They need small refrigerators in the rooms. In the evening if you bring a beverage, there are no ice machines and if you get a couple cups of ice from the bar they melt quickly. If they won't but refrigerators in the room, they can at least provide ice machines in the lobby. The quiet pool needs major cleaning. There is scum on the side walls and the tiles grout is black. The water was clean but that was about it. The bar at the quiet pool was staffed now and then. The employees would walk back and forth and socialize with other workers. Granted the pool is not as crowded as the other areas but they are paid to be at the bar and serve the quests. The food was mediocre and items that should be hot were lukewarm or cold. Food choices were limited and not all that great. In the morning I tried to go to the beach to relax and read and the landscaping crews were out constantly raking the sand and socializing with their friends. I had to actually move as they were moving chairs around and I could not enjoy the beach after breakfast. The pools don't open till 10am so you would want to go to the beach and enjoy that area and that was nearly impossible. If they are rearranging chairs for whatever reason it should not take two hours. Also they were tearing up the floor of one of the bars and if you wanted to sit near the bar you heard saws, hammering all day long. I understand they have to update or fix items at the resort but the guests that had cottages on the beach had to listen to that all day as well. You should not have to pay for wifi in this day and age. That should be changed as well. Most resorts have free wifi. They used to have some name brand liquors, that was not the case this time. The liquor offered was nothing I had ever really heard of. They need to change that as well. we all don't want to drink Red Stripe beer the whole time we are there. If you want a modern resort this would not be a good choice.

Great Value but

Don't get me wrong ... we love the resort. We have been there 5 times but this most recent visit we saw a decline in the entertainment and food. The buffet had theme nights but only one or two items would change. The bar help made the vacation a great success.

There is no other place where you can have your own little cottage on the beach for this price. Location was surreal. Food was so good, drinks were great. I am already planning on returning!

cold water shower
Feb 02 2018
It is a 3 star location, that being said, the cottage had a faulty hot water heater that kept tripping the breaker and leaving us with cold water showers. It took the hotel 6 nights before they would move us to another room, seems they thought that we didn't know how to regulate the water temperature. HOWEVER, the rest of the staffing, bar tenders, wait staff, cooks, maintenance guys, were tops, very polite and helpful.

Mediocre Food and Liquor
Nov 27 2017
Food was cool to cold at the buffet. The only hot food you received was when it was served by the chefs at separate carving stations. Liquor at the bar was not any brands I had ever heard of. They used to serve Jack Daniels and Jim Beam but that was nowhere to be found. A lot of construction was going on and I was not told that a snack restaurant had been moved to an upper level location. Another guest told me. The hotel is ok but they need to improve the food and also the liquor selection

Bad experience
Apr 26 2017
Did not get room we requested. Had to wait 2 1/2 hours for room. Room was 1960 style no coffee pot no fridge and they only give you one bottle of water which you have to go refill at the bar. Very noisy and smell of sewer. When it rained which was often you had no cover on your patio. No smoking except designated areas.

Awesome Resort
Feb 25 2017
We loved our ocean view cottage. The food is amazing and the staff are so sweet. This resort is basic but in the right way, it has all of the stuff you need. Great quiet pool and the beach areas were wonderful. We will be returning next year for sure.

3 Star Rating With 5 Star Service
Jan 15 2017
My wife and I loved every aspect of this all inclusive property. The view was 5 star, the service was 5 star and the food and drinks were very good. Maid service was 5 star. This property is beautiful and very well kept. We had a one room suite. It had a separate bedroom which is perfect especially when travelling with kids. This was a very unique experience as 90 percent of the rooms were individual units with air conditioning and many with ocean and garden views. I would highly recommend this property. Again, the rating for this property is 3 star but I would give it 5 star for service.

Lovely quaint small resort. Very friendly staff and guests. With it being small you get to meet a lot of people. Great selection of food at the buffet restaurant, breakfast, lunch and main dinner. The themed restaurants are very nice too. The bar staff are so friendly and enjoy serving you. They like to join in with the dancing. If you tip first day then they will give you a glass glass rather than a plastic cup. The animation team works hard to keep you entertained. They are so good at dancing. Kid stood out mostly with his dancing and friendly ness towards everyone. There are three beaches and two pools so space is easy to find. The only downside was there is only one place to make a cup of tea and it was a bit out of the way from our room so by the time I got back it was drinkable. The lifeguards are entertaining too. They spend most of the time chatting with the guest , and cleaning up the beach front of sea grass. All in all a great place to come and relax.

Fab, fab, Fab!

We booked one of the sea front cottages at a supplement (we had cottage number 7)... we were not disappointed... it truly made our holiday special..... from our front door it was 5 metres to our sun beds and another 5 to the sea, amazing!....The cottages are a good 3 star standard..... adequate and comfortable, and our house keeping lady kept it lovely, (Denise I think she was called... thanks again) every day we had clean sheets, towels and a very welcome large bottle of water in the fridge. The gardens are beautiful and kept immaculate.....and the animation team work so hard, always something going on and they are genuinely friendly and seem like they are loving their jobs..... kid was our favourite (aka mickey)😂 but truthfully every member of staff we met was pleasant and helpful..... we love this place.... well done to you all, and thanks for a brilliant holiday.....

3 star at best

For: Accommodation was great, ocean front cottage. Housekeeping brilliant, daily change of bedding/towels etc Grounds are well kept by friendly staff. Jasmine Delta bar was good for snacks. We were well looked after by the lovely Kedeem! Beaches were OK Against: Main restaurant.. whilst the choice was good some of the dishes were quite bland and not always hot. Dishes were not replenished very quickly. Some of the restaurant staff could do with some customer service training, some were lovely but some just couldn't be bothered. Drinks.....let's just say if there was a tip involved the service and cocktails were excellent, if no tip, you could be waiting a while. Entertainment....we were glad our cottage was right at the edge of the complex because it was loud loud loud. We spent most evenings outside the hotel in AJ's bar just up the road. Warm welcome, good prices. We never felt threatened at any time We enjoyed our holiday but for us the negatives outweighed the positives

A Gem

So glad we found this place we have just got back fom what has to be in my top two holidays holidays I've ever been on maybe even number one ,after a long flight we arrived at the hotel to be met with lovely smiles and a nice little drink reception staff were great and every thing was soon sorted and the porter took us of to our cottage very nice circular place with huge bed bathroom with over bath shower and a separate walk in wardrobe room with safe ironing board and iron a small fridge which we had requested and a patio with two chairs great ,so off we went for evening meal and whatever your taste there is some thing for everyone i have read on here it gets a little repetitive but we found everything spot on the all inclusive package included all drinks tea coffee beer wines and spirits even named brands again 10 out of 10 from me ,the gardens are very well looked after and wherever you are on the complex you are only a couple of minutes to the sandy coves that have enough sunbeds for a army lol ,i have read a few things with folks moaning about a few things but i can't understand why i am well travelled if you are not happy with things move on to somewhere else instead of keep going back to see if it has changed to your liking ,the entertainment team were fantastic trying to involve people to join in with thing but no pressure if you didn't want to all in al a fantastic holiday we will be back soon well done to all the Decameron team
