Themed in an early Mexican Colonial style, the resort features a lobby modeled after an authentic Mexican town with hand-painted frescos of flowers, angels, and clouds. Relax beneath one of the many palm trees sprinkled along the white sand beach, or enjoy the array of watersports in the clear waters of the Caribbean.

Four restaurants feature a variety of dining choices. The Hacienda Restaurant extends to a terrace amidst jungle greenery, offering a great variety of tantalizing buffets and on-the-spot cooking. Guests are sure to enjoy the informal atmosphere of Margarita's specialty restaurant, as they dine alongside the large pool area and take part in the delightful theme nights. Shanghai, the Asian restaurant, serves amazing buffets. Snacks are available 24-hours a day and the five bars, including two swim-up bars, serve unlimited drinks.

Activities abound at this non-stop resort! Enjoy watersports such as kayaking or body boarding, or venture over to the 18-hole golf course nearby! For a soothing experience, sip a sunset cocktail in one of four bars or pamper yourself at Renova Spa. Complimentary 24-hour WiFi is also available in the common areas of the resort (available in rooms for an additional charge).

My adult daughter and I have just got back from 2 weeks holiday at this lovely hotel. Although it was updated about 18mths/2yrs ago it is showing signs of wear in the rooms. The staff and food cannot be faulted. The food was more than generous and variety was good. The housekeeping staff were brilliant leaving rooms sparkling and leaving different towel animals on beds each day. each bed was 4ft so lots of wriggle room on hot nights there was both air con and ceiling fan which were needed as temperatures were in 20's at night. All staff were genuinely smiley, polite and very courteous nothing was too much trouble. I injured my knee in Cozumel on the Monday of our second week, The staff at the hotel were fantastic showing genuine concern. The reception manager lent me a battered wheelchair for the remaining 6 days apologising that they could not lend the better one as t was only for brief medical emergency such as wheeling someone from room/pool etc to taxi/ambulance. He also arranged a room change as we were in a first floor room and found us a ground floor room next to the big pool and theatre so we could see the entertainment from our terrace if we didn't wish to go over. The hotel is 5 star the staff I would say many more. location good walked each evening along beach for hr and daytime walked to the town via the beach although did walk via road once and found several Mayan ruins Fantastic holiday.

Fantastic Hotel with wonderful food and facilities to suit all.

Just got back from 2 weeks staying at this hotel and really enjoyed our time here! Had the usual good standards of a Riu- lots of food and drink choice, rooms cleaned every day to a good standard, friendly staff. I’d say this hotel may be more of a 3* hotel compared to other Riu’s I’ve stayed in; the rooms could do with being updated but are nice and comfortable. A few things worth noting: The air con in our room definitely wasn’t the best. We went to the rooms of other people we met there and their air con was much better than ours. The fan would get knocked off if we used the plug point next to the bed due to the placement of it. The light situation is a bit tricky to work out... we found the following morning that turning off one switch had turned off all the electricity! (This may just have been us but it took some getting used to). We didn’t realise the shower area was completely open and there is no privacy when you shower in the room! We found the pools near the beach weren’t the cleanest, I did see staff cleaning them in the morning sometimes but throughout the day the pools would accumulate scum around the edges which was a bit off putting and the pool bar especially looks really dirty and cloudy but I think this is due to people urinating in there and one day someone vomited in there so people had to evacuate.. it can get quite rowdy in this pool so some people may prefer the quieter pool at the front of the hotel! It didn’t bother us, it just might not be for everyone! The shop in the hotel is really expensive if you do want snacks etc but there’s a plaza 5 mins walk away with a mini market and other shops, some are still expensive but worth a look! We found the staff in the restaurants weren’t as attentive as we’d experienced in other Riu hotels, they were friendly but often the tables weren’t set out with cutlery etc when you sat down and they would take a while to ask you if you wanted a drink etc. In the Mexican restaurant one night we asked for a drink 4 times from different people and it took about 20 mins to get someone to bring it over! The steak house food was lovely. You have to book the Mexican and Italian restaurants in the morning but the Asian and steak house don’t require you to book. On the whole though the staff are lovely and friendly, and the entertainment staff work all hours. Entertainment in the evenings does leave something to be desired... they work hard but we found it starts quite late (doesn’t start until 9.45pm) so after food you’re waiting around for a long time, we started eating a little later. Itwould be fine but there’s no air con in the bars or seating area by the entertainment as it’s outside so you find when you’re sitting there it’s really hot and sticky! You get stuck to your seat and it can be a bit uncomfortable! There is also no air con in the lobby bar so it’s really uncomfortable to sit in there drinking; they have fans but this doesn’t do much obviously when it’s so hot! You will get bitten by mosquitos a lot! We found the stuff we bought from home wasn’t any good; everyone said they bought some stuff over there and it was much better. We didn’t really spend any time on the beach but it is lovely, a few people complain about the seaweed but this can’t be helped and the staff do work tirelessly to clear this every day as much as they can. Overall we had a lovely stay here, just wanted to raise a few things that we weren’t aware of beforehand!

Tudo perfeito!

I firstly want to say I'm a topical Brit, I complain if I have to especially if I'm not happy................ Well we're do I begin the Hotel Riu Yacatan it amazing, the reception staff really welcome you and are very helpful. Our rooms were very basic and need a touching up but very clean, beds made every morning clean towels put out, the cleaners do a fantastic job always happy and polite. The food is amazing so much to choose from and the presentation is excellent. The waiters and waitresses are lovely always smiling, your tea or coffee isn't empty for long they soon fill them up, used plates are always collected within minutes. The bar staff are all lovely always aim to please Every English spirit is available and local beer is quite nice. The grounds are always kept neat and tidy. The wild life is cute especially the monkeys swinging in the trees. With it been very green there is quite a few mosquito's and believe me I do get bit, we always take jungle formula but I still get bit. We were told to get a spray called buzz from Mexico and it really does work. Hope this review is helpful and also enjoy the photos and videos. See you next year Riu Yacatan and all lovely people who work there ... XX😊
