All Inclusive

Ever since it opened as the original RIU Resort in Riviera Maya, Riu Yucatan has been a leading choice for families and couples! Themed in an early Mexican Colonial style, the resort features a lobby modeled after an authentic Mexican town with hand-painted frescos of flowers, angels, and clouds. Relax beneath one of the many palm trees sprinkled along the white sand beach, or enjoy the array of watersports in the clear waters of the Caribbean.

Four restaurants feature a variety of dining choices. The Hacienda Restaurant extends to a terrace amidst jungle greenery, offering a great variety of tantalizing buffets and on-the-spot cooking. Guests are sure to enjoy the informal atmosphere of Margarita's specialty restaurant, as they dine alongside the large pool area and take part in the delightful theme nights. Shanghai, the Asian restaurant, serves amazing buffets. Snacks are available 24-hours a day and the five bars, including two swim-up bars, serve unlimited drinks.

Activities abound at this non-stop resort! Enjoy watersports such as kayaking or body boarding, or venture over to the 18-hole golf course nearby! For a soothing experience, sip a sunset cocktail in one of four bars or pamper yourself at Renova Spa. Complimentary 24-hour WiFi is also available in the common areas of the resort (available in rooms for an additional charge).

Every evening, live entertainment, and music provide the perfect show right before heading off to bed. Riu Yucatan has exchange privileges with Riu Tequila and Riu Playacar (dinner dining excluded), so entertainment is never in short supply!

Our room wasn't the best. It's one thing to be an old hotel, but just upkeep in our room was poor. The door was scuffed, the bathroom mirror was chopped in places. Our fridge needed to be wiped down. The shower drained really slow. The upkeep on the room was poor. Looks like things were tended to, b .. More>

Everything about Riu Yucatan and Frontier flight was good. However we bought transportation to and from the airport. The Amstar woman who met with us to tell us what time the return would be was late, rude and basically gave us misinformation. Her name was Irena and she was horrible. .. More>

We stayed at the Yucatan in 2009. We loves I then. Decided to go back and wish we would have just kept our good memories. We didn't like the renovations. It was not friendly and homey. The pool chairs were placed in every available spot. No room to move..no tables. I did like the covers ove .. More>

Family Oriented! Loved it

I visited the hotel back in May with my 9months old baby, my husband and my mother. The first day our room was very far from the lobby and the beach (building 9). We were moved the very next day. The hotel is not that big and that is what I liked the most, you don't feel crowded and walking with a baby and a stroller around the hotel was very easy. The food was amazing, the service was very good, they even cooked special meals for my baby and that made my stay even better. My baby loved the food and he never got sick. Breakfast and dinner were the best, lunch was ok but nothing compared to dinner. We never had the chance to eat at the restaurants because my husband just loved the main buffet. I don't drink but my husband did have some drinks at the Swim-up bar and he loved it there. The bartender was very nice and always taking care of him. The only complaint I have is the bed. The beds are a little uncomfortable and the set up (two full beds together ) made it difficult to sleep. We didn't spent too much time in the room but still. Oh Miguel the bartender at the Lobby made the best capuccinos and fresh juices! More>

The hotel Yucatan is a wonderful clean hotel. Staff is friendly, they will help you with any questions and always say hi when you walk by. The pools are kept clean and the beach is amazing. Don't worry if the weather prediction calls for rain. The week before we left it predicted rain everyday, it only rained one night! There is more bars than restaurants so getting a drink should not be an issue. Cocktails at the lobby bar are 10x better than any other, our favorite were the mojitos. Unfortunately classics like piña coladas and daiquiris taste like syrup and ice. The food was good, try and get reservations at the restaurants to get your money's worth. One of our favorite parts of the hotel was its location, 90 pesos ($5 US) for a taxi into town. We had some great dinners off of 5th ave. lots and lots of options! We met friends staying at the Riu tequila, it was nice to be able to walk over there and have free drinks. If you want to go clubbing meet one of the reps in the tequila lobby they are great! They know all the spots, get you open bar passes and bottle service. Our favorite was the foam party at the blue parrot, so much fun! More>

It was just perfect, from the moment I left to when I got home!! The rooms were slightly lacking but I could get over that! The entertainment team were so friendly and welcoming!! Some nights the entertainment was a bit boring but they have to accommodate for everyone I suppose. The food was amazing and a great selection of drinks! :) There was always something happening in the day i.e DARTS, VOLLEYBALL, FOOTBALL. Which was great and tequila bingo. :D Wifi also worked great, no problem. free in public areas. I would return to this place within a heartbeat!! THANK YOU FOR AN AMAZING 2 WEEKS. More>

Great location, reasonable service, rooms are adequate, easy drive to shopping area's. But remember if you want room service stay at the Palace, I forgot that. However, food selection gets boring but still acceptable. Recommend getting out try different local eateries as much as possible. But you can't beat the Mexican Caribbean! P.S. The Monkeys living in trees by the Hotel were fun to look at. More>

I recommend the trip via thomson as the guides are fantastic, it's a very early start but worth it. More>
