All Inclusive

Ever since it opened as the original RIU Resort in Riviera Maya, Riu Yucatan has been a leading choice for families and couples! Themed in an early Mexican Colonial style, the resort features a lobby modeled after an authentic Mexican town with hand-painted frescos of flowers, angels, and clouds. Relax beneath one of the many palm trees sprinkled along the white sand beach, or enjoy the array of watersports in the clear waters of the Caribbean.

Four restaurants feature a variety of dining choices. The Hacienda Restaurant extends to a terrace amidst jungle greenery, offering a great variety of tantalizing buffets and on-the-spot cooking. Guests are sure to enjoy the informal atmosphere of Margarita's specialty restaurant, as they dine alongside the large pool area and take part in the delightful theme nights. Shanghai, the Asian restaurant, serves amazing buffets. Snacks are available 24-hours a day and the five bars, including two swim-up bars, serve unlimited drinks.

Activities abound at this non-stop resort! Enjoy watersports such as kayaking or body boarding, or venture over to the 18-hole golf course nearby! For a soothing experience, sip a sunset cocktail in one of four bars or pamper yourself at Renova Spa. Complimentary 24-hour WiFi is also available in the common areas of the resort (available in rooms for an additional charge).

Every evening, live entertainment, and music provide the perfect show right before heading off to bed. Riu Yucatan has exchange privileges with Riu Tequila and Riu Playacar (dinner dining excluded), so entertainment is never in short supply!

Our room wasn't the best. It's one thing to be an old hotel, but just upkeep in our room was poor. The door was scuffed, the bathroom mirror was chopped in places. Our fridge needed to be wiped down. The shower drained really slow. The upkeep on the room was poor. Looks like things were tended to, b .. More>

Everything about Riu Yucatan and Frontier flight was good. However we bought transportation to and from the airport. The Amstar woman who met with us to tell us what time the return would be was late, rude and basically gave us misinformation. Her name was Irena and she was horrible. .. More>

We absolutely loved the staff - everyone was incredibly polite and friendly. We were struck by the fact that every employee we walked past, whether mainenance or housekeeping or dining, smiled and said 'hola'. We felt very welcomed. The hotel was immaculate. Great holiday, would return!

Travelled here **summer 2014** as a couple - we could not fault the hotel. from the room, food, bars, staff, cleanliness - it was all spot on.. considering the amount of people checking in when we arrived, the process was very quick and our luggage was delivered to our room very quickly. mainly ate in the buffet restaurant, but we tried the steak restaurant twice for dinner - the only down side of this is that it's where lunch is held in the day time, rather than a totally seperate restaurant. it was still nice however, as it's beach front. the choice of cocktails is excellent, you can get carried away in the swim up bar- not realising the time or how many cocktails you are drinking. be sure to try the miami vice - it's not on the drinks menu but really good! lastly, the beach is wonderful - it's a postcard picture type view. white sands and clear blue water.. i'd recommend going on the cancun pirate trip, advertised by thomson - it may seem pricey but its great entertainment and a steak and lobster dinner is included, as well as all drinks! they are not stingey with drinks either. overall - great holiday and hotel, highly recommend. Staff are amazing at Riu Yucutan.... The service when we got there at the front desk was really amazing. We where a family of 19 people and the rooms we got at first where to far from the beach. There where no issues at all and they changed us rooms right by the pool and so close to the beach. Good service at all time. The room service was also amazing, the only complain I have about our room and all rooms is that there is only a door where the toilet is and the rest is an open concept so no privacy when you take a shower. To fix the problem we had to put a big towel on the shower door. Our room was 6208 very well located near the beach, pool. We where also able to see the shows from our room really nice when the kids where tired. That was a plus for our family. The food was amazing no complains in that department and very clean every restaurant and buffet we went to. The beach well I'm speechless , just WOW really paradise. I found my paradise for sure love Mexico and I'm from Colombia. The only complain I have about this hotel is that the pools need a bit of update and the entertainment really needs lots of work and they don't play enough music during the day by the pool or the beach way to quiet also night time shows are poor too. Loved all the live shows by the bar at night and Sara the dj from Spain on the beach. The beach party was really nice. Good job! As for the excursions we did swimming with the dolphins, manities and seal lions and catamaran and cenotes and piramids. Bring an umbrella and lots of water it gets very hot, try to go early in the morning.what an amazing experience. Don't miss out on that is really worth every penny. We didn't do the excursions with the hotel and we saved lots of $$ We got our own transportation as well. It's very safe no worries. Oh and the jetski and the parachute was really nice. We got a really good deal with the guys on the beach. Bargain for the price. Let's not forget about Sunwing the service was outstanding. We will be back for sure next year again. Thank you for a beautiful week. More>

Spent two gorgeous weeks in the Riu Yucatan with a minimum of hiccups. Staff were all willing to help as much as possible . Loved waking to the sound of the howler monkeys outside our apartment block and while where we were situated could be noisy (block 6) it didn't bother us at all . We decided from the offset that we wouldn't venture far this trip so we made the most of our sun loungers which were in abundance around all the pools and down by the beach. My small issue with the beach loungers was that they were totally open to the sun with only trees to give some shade. Some umbrellas for protection would have been useful. The only place we visited was Chichen Itza . A WOW place but The tour itself was very unorganised , we got it from a street vendor and not Thomson, which was our mistake . Our room was spotless and kept so every day with the different lovely animal towels our cleaner created every day. Food and drink were both in abundance and apart from the Italian Restaurant, could not be faulted. Enjoyed walking through 5th Avenue a couple of nights with taxis costing between 90 to 120 pesos per trip. We feel like We want to go back , which is what we are planning for November . I think this time we are ready to look around a lot more and to take in more attractions like Cozumel and Isla De Mujeres. There definately is so much to see. Maybe though we'll settle in Cancun , one of the Rius of course but not sure which one. Already excited for the good times ahead 😎 More>

Not been to the Yucatan for about 4years and since then they have refurbished the place a new pool where the tennis courts was is very lovey and quite . The restaurant on the beach was lovely before they knocked it down and replaced it with modern !! It had lost all that Mexican charm it was lovely sitting eating lunch listening to the mexican tunes being played .like the reception area it has lost its mexican charm unfortunately. The reception area seating is awful it very uncomfortable and hot to sit on you get very sweaty legs !! Don't bother queueing to book the Italian restaurant like we did 😊because you don't need to and it was a beautiful meal every time so we the Asian . Personally I think better than the Steak house which we always seem to visit and always think afterwards why ? Been to The Yucatan 6 times now I do like it but not so keen on the 'decorations' but won't put me off .love seeing the monkeys and how close they come to you .It's a nice walk into local town where we paid 20 dollars each for a fantastic massage where you would pay 10 times that much on resort and it lasted 80 min unlike the 30 min on resort good place to visit More>

I have nothing negative to say about the Riu Yucatan. The hotel is modern and spotless clean. Our room was bright modern and with the air conditioning was lovely and cool. The rooms were cleaned every day and we were provided with clean bath towels each day. The all inclusive package was excellent and the drinks were branded. The food was excellent and something for everyone. Entertainment was provided by the entertainment team day and night and you can also get a taxi into 5th Avenue for approx £4.00. The pools were clean and spacious and the hotel is set right on the beach which is beautiful. Staff at this hotel are polite and friendly and work extremely hard, nothing being too much trouble. This was our first trip to Mexico and we will definitely be returning, More>
